I'm sure I would have liked it better if I were a 12 year old boy or a 50 year old man...they should've named it "Mater's Big Spy Movie" not Cars2...

Took my eight year old daughter, she gives it a C+. A lot of the jokes would not be understandable to a child under 6, ( wasabi, popemobile, bidets, vague reference to adult movies?!) and the plot line was waaay to fast and complicated for most children. It was basically a old style James Bond action fest(with lots of guns-WTF?!), but with cars...
We loved Cars 1, and it always leaves you with a warm fuzzy, this one left me confused as to who they were marketing it to, and what convoluted message they were trying to send (don't trust BP, but do trust big oil and organic food??????)

I always take a look around midway through a movie, and when I did this time there were about six small children in their parents laps, chewing nervously on their fingers...and several cried at every loud action sequence...

I will say this about it though- we didn't go to the digital version and even then the graffics and effects were wicked... Makes me wonder if a realistic Firefly animation couldn't be done now...

I won't be buying the DVD. However if your kids are older, they'll love it! (*ahem*Chris*ahem)

P.s. Also... Colombo a.k.a Peter Falk died.(he had alzheimers) He was 83. He loved to draw...

Will have to trot out "Princess Bride" tomorrow...

AURAPTOR

America loves a winner!

Another case of having a highly recognizable franchise name, and then over taking what should be a straight forward story, and over thinking it to death.

Pity.

I didn't really enjoy Cars regular, so I don't plan to see Cars 2. I think my little brother might like it from what you've said though, he's nine and likes things that have a low attention span, lots of quick action.

My four year old nephew is obsessed with Cars - everything is Lightning McQueen this that or the other. This year has been about the release of Cars 2 and yet he wanted to leave halfway through. Poor sod.

Thanks for the heads up, although the previews did look a bit overblown, I got that feeling that maybe this time out it wasn't going to be as special as 1.
