Chicago Tribune - South by Southwest has selected Lionsgate's "The Cabin in the Woods" as its opening night film on March 9, marking the world premiere for Joss Whedon's horror vehicle. In addition to premiering the film, Whedon will participate in a panel at the SXSW Conference on March 10. "Cabin the Woods," due to be released on Friday the 13th of April, is produced and co-written by Whedon and marks the feature directing debut of "Cloverfield" and "Lost" scribe Drew Goddard in a tale of five young adults embarking on a weekend of debauchery at an abandoned cabin in the woods...

I want to go to this, but the cheapest film badge is $550 and as far as I can tell that doesn't even guarantee you a ticket. Maybe I'll just camp out in front of the theater and try to catch a glimpse of Joss entering/exiting.

I hope they all get eaten by aliens, monsters, or inbred West Virginia cannibals.

LOL….

Actually the hypothesis is sort of like “Tucker & Dale”, at least from my limited understanding of the works. Then again, there are many of the “Cabin in the Woods” type beginning scenarios in movies, so excuse my indulgence if I’m wrong here.

Actually what RIONAERIE said might make it a quite interesting story. I donno’ seems like a filler to me. Something to be done just to put bread on the table for Joss. If it’s as entertaining as T&D it would be well worth the price of hitting the theaters. Still, I’m waiting to see from upcoming postings here.

IMHO, Alan should have never been x’ed out in the first BDM, nor Shepherd Book. Bad judgment call when so many folk were just being introduced to the show for the first time.

If Cabin in the Woods does well it's likely that Firefly will get renewed. Or something like that...

It's part of the Whedonverse.
Like Buffy/Angel/Firefly/Serenity/Dollhouse/ Avengers & so on.
Similarly, any actor in these projects.
Ditto any writer/director/DP/designer, etc.
Sort of a "Far Fewer Than Six Degrees of Joss Whedon" thing.
Welcome to it.
Expand.
Enjoy.
