Mission Impossible is a thrill ride, action adventure spy movie that keeps it coming from start to end. Really, you don't get to rest but for a minute in between some of the best action set pieces since, well, Live Free or Die Hard.
Bring popcorn and suspend belief for about 2 hours and you'll enjoy the movie. There are some minor plot holes - see if you could pick them out - but ignore the man climbing up the side of the tower and you'll have some good old- fashioned shoot 'em up fun.

Jeremy Renner could be the next action star, he's currently filming The Bourne Legacy, and is very good keeping up quite nicely alongside Tom Cruise. Actually the four co-stars Renner, Cruise, Paula Patton(who's terrific by the way) and Simon Pegg; had great chemistry and were quite good. The plot is quite simple but it's not the plot as much as it is the constant white-knuckle action with some of the best chase scenes since the last Bourne trilogy. Directed by Brad Bird, yep the same Brad Bird of Pixar fame: Toy Story, The Incredibles, etc. He mixes comedy and high-stakes espionage with great aplomb; smooth transitions and razor sharp timing are his strongsuits. You will be on the edge of your seat for most of the movie (I was) and love every minute. My only disappointment was the somewhat predictable ending. But what a ride!

P.S. Hollywood must be broken, because so far this fall they have managed to impress me with quality, solid and entertaining movies. Has anyone seen Sherlock Holmes yet? I've heard nothing but good things.

Good Renner interviews on TV talk shows lately. Split his pants a little getting ready for entrance on Fallon last night (12.19). Hilarity ensued.
I have been fanning the Renner flame since The Unusuals a few years back. JR for Star!!

You and me both. I really liked the Unusuals and mainly watched because of Amber Tamblyn (Joan of Arcadia fan, pretty much the teenaged version of Firefly, a great show that got no respect), but I was pleasantly surprised by Renner's bravado as the partner/cop. That show was fun and quirky without being obnoxious. I could see that Renner would be a star, a la Nathan, but who knew his star would rise so fast. Hurt Locker put him on the map (at least film wise).

The guy held his own vs. Cruise in MI: Ghost Protocol. I could see him being the young Capt. Reynolds or maybe an old war buddy of him and Zoe. Him and Jayne would butt heads, it would be awesome! Please Universal, Netflix, somebody make it happen.

Jeremy Renner. Hmmm. Renner's a good actor, but what else? Ah -- he has presence. Or should I say Presence!? ... He also has credibility.

Now that directors, producers, casting directors, and mainly, we the viewers Know about him, his stardom is certain. The only way he can avoid it would be to disappear.
