I'm referring to those actors/actresses who seem to fulfill each role we see them in, and the only complaint we have is that they don't have enough screen time. We are not disappointed in their performances. We only hope they get bigger roles. Is it because they are not challenging themselves enough? Are they too cautious? Their agent is lame? Not pushing themselves enough?

I've been thinking on this a while, but this thread is spurred by Eva Green. Ever since Dreamers, I am happy to see her in upcoming flicks, but she never dominates a film, and I only wish she had more screen time. The closest I've come to being disappointed was with 300 part 2.

I was putting Keira Knightly in this category until Domino. Even tho I was no fan of Pirates, she still carried her part. Prior to Star Wars, I had not noticed her.

I had also enjoyed Lisa Jakub from her 12yo debut until she retired, although I have heard some others here do not agree.

I've enjoyed Jim Caviezel, although I cannot recall if I have been disappointed in any of his work.

Others might include Sioban Fallon, early LeeLee Sobieshi, Helen Hunt even tho I avoided that Paul Reiser TV show, early Rose Byrne, Jewel Staite, early Mia Kirshner, Summer Glau, and Leisel Mathews until I saw Blast From the Past.

Do you have favorites you can't wait to see their next work?

Anything with Patton Oswalt! This guy is hilarious and knows his 'zines /comics. Enough said.

??? Like Patton Oswalt but have not seen Doll House? That was my intro to him, plus commentary on Patton from Joss I found engaging and memorable, I'm constantly reminded of it.

I also hope to see more of Rosie Elizabeth Jones.

In the past, others in this category have included Jessica Biel, Reese Whitherspoon, Michael Biehn, Laura San Guacimo, Jennifer Connelly (until Sand & Fog).

I still want to see the net work from the following: Sara Butler, Elle Fanning (amazing scene in Super 8), Susan Cusack, John Cusack (has he ever not performed well?), Gregg Henry (even tho not always likeable charaters, he seems to get the job done each time), Abigail Breslin, Anna Sophia Robb, Seychille Gabriel, Lily Collins, Alexis Dziena, Rhiannon Leigh Wryn.

Does anybody else have some that they follow and feel are not challenged in their roles?

I put Chloe Grace Moretz in this category. My first experience with her was in 500 Days of Summer - small part, but you could see her acting chops were real. Then came Kick Ass. She literally stole that movie without breaking a sweat, she held her own with a hilarious Nick Cage, and, for me, was the driving force of the movie. KA2 wasn't as well written (not that KA was a masterpiece) but she still was the engine that could.

I was disappointed with The Right One, but that was doomed to be a fail because the original was so good. Poor direction, in the remake, failed on that count. She is so good, but she hasn't made very good choices and needs a new manager/agent. She should maybe look into hiring Mila Kunis' people. Now there's a rising star who's career has been carefully crafted. Chloe should campaign to be in the next Star Wars movie, because of her gift for action and her more-than-solid acting skills.

I had her early, but that horror/supernatural thing she did didn't seem up to par. Otherwise, I wholly agree she is what I'm talking about.

Another I want to see more of is Grace Park. Haven't seen her in a starring role, carrying a film yet. Hard to get past Scott Caan in H5-O.

Olivia Cooke from The Signal is a cutey, and I want to see much more of her. Some of the other portrayals didn't flow as well, but she really carried her weight.

Nicole Peltz from Transformers: Age of Extinction. They seem to have found in her what they were probably looking for when they settled for Megan Fox. I hope to see a lot more of her work as well.

I keep forgetting to mention Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Never see enough of her, even for the Scott Pilgrim gig. Seen trailers for Kill the Messenger, but didn't notice which scenes were hers.

Yes, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, my God, I forgot about her. I LOVED her in Scott Pilgrim; then I went back and rewatched Die Hard. This woman can act.
She was also in the schlocky Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Slayer (small role as wife Mary). I agree about Grace Moretz, she's made some bad choices in her follow up movies. Both Carrie and The Right One were remakes that were doomed to fail. But I'm still in her corner because the girl can act, and I still say she would make an excellent Jedi.

Die Hard was still a let down for me, regarding her. I was happy she was cast, but not enough of her.

Check the stuff prior to that. That Grindhouse one, with the Machete trailer, she really endeared me.

I also kept forgetting Rachel McAdams. Her early roles were not always endearing, but she held her own within them. Always happy to see her in new roles. Don't recall if I have ever been disappointed with her performances, regardless of the film.

I must add Ophelia Lovibond here.
After seeing her in Elementary, I am impressed. I think she is the most well-placed, fit, cast add-on to almost any show I can recall at this time, regarding Elementary.

You must have mis-typed, or else I'm blind, because I can't find any credit for her on Continuum.

Just thought of another Un-tapped star in the making - PINK! Yes, the singer and part-time acrobat, Pink. She would make an awesome bad-ass in any action movie and her agility on the "Silks" begs for a special scene with her performing her act in some capacity.

Thank you. You are correct. I swapped my recall of her with Katie Findlay's portrayal of Lily Cole, the 2012 grandmother of Keira. In my mind, Katie's portrayal in Continuum is closer to Ophelia's in Elementary, more so than Ophelia in Guardians of the Galaxy or Katie in How To Get Away With Murder.

Thank you for the correction.
I have edited my original post, to reduce confusion.

Anybody else watching Elementary?
Ophelia really works well in this show, I think. I have not determined if she is just the perfect fit, an excellent actress, or if she is just too adorable to be displeased with. She seems to fit her role better than anybody else on the show. Often when I see this, a spinoff happens, and I would want to watch her spinoff.

After Keira's role as decoy in Star Wars Episode I, she was not in II, but Padme's assistant in Episode II was another darling, Rose Byrne. I've been rewatching SWII lately.

Looks like Jamie Chung will be in Office Christmas Party this Friday.
Also with Abbey Lee, who I saw with Christina Hendricks in Neon Demon.

Well, she apparently didn't get the spinoff that Kitty deserved.
But last night I was about to turn off the TV and saw the return of Kitty on Elementary - just visiting, looks like. But then it turns out the second part is next week.
But the Eps have 2 different names:

Izzie Leigh Coffey, playing Five Year Old Casey in Split.
Not enough of her, but she did well. She looks like Abigail Breslin, who was in Signs, another Shyamalan film.

Side note in Split, several repeat characters/actors from Unbreakable, with the big one uncredited.

Drama schools and theater seem gone

maybe the non-actors not raised in acting schools, Henry Cavill is one but the 'non actor' it used to be more common, they might not be pure non-actors and have also got some personal private tutor to improve their acting on screen.
