It's more Reaper than Dead Like Me, but R.I.P.D. is a hybrid of those two cancelled TV shows.

In Reaper a living reaper violently hauls the evil dead back to hell while Dead Like Me has the dead almost apologetically escorting the living to the afterlife. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reaper_(TV_series) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Like_Me

I like Ryan Reynolds. I even liked Green Lantern. I first became aware of him before he started making movies. When he was young and a little chubby he appeared in a couple of Outer Limits episodes. The first one was "Double Helix", and then a year later in the sequel episode "Origin Of Species".... one of their best stories of that series.

America loves a winner!

First thing I thought of when I saw the trailer was George " Ellen Muth ".

Then I thought of all the crappy recycled stuff which keeps coming out of Hollywood, and how Firefly was so much better than most the stuff we see, even after all these years.

Then I felt sad.

I liked Reynolds in "Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place", but Hollywood seems hell bent on making him a major star whether we like it or not. He may find more success if he returns to TV.

Yeah. MIB with supernatural stuff. But if anyone can make something out of it, Bridges can.

Not many that are aware of his "six degrees of separation" with Nathan.
2 Guys, A Girl and A Pizza Place was the first time I saw him in anything and I liked his quirkiness.

Hollywood pushes him because he has all the right features of a leading man, much like Nathan, except he and his agent are horrible at picking projects. I guess easy money wins out.

I want to see it just to catch Jeff Bridges do his Wild Bill Hickok impression.

I'll buy that for a dollar!

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Yeah, I should have edited it right after I posted, but figured you could cut and paste. Haken's fooling with the code again I guess.

Firefly is connected to R.I.P.D.! This quote from a review makes me optimistic about another Firefly movie, eventual.
Quote:

R.I.P.D. is the film version of a comic-book from Dark Horse Comics, the company that also published Hellboy, various Frank Miller works and numerous comics spinoffs from popular films. Dark Horse’s works have led to other film adaptations such as The Mask (1994), Timecop (1994) and Virus (1999). R.I.P.D. was a four-issue series that was originally published between 1999 and 2000. . . . http://moria.co.nz/horror/ripd-2013.htm
The Firefly/R.I.P.D. connection is that Serenity comics were also published by Dark Horse Comics. If Joss Whedon wrote a four-issues series sequel to Firefly, a movie deal is possible, same as R.I.P.D. It has happened at Dark Horse several times before.

The fantasy part is that the Firefly comics need to have an ineffable quality that Hollywood calls "good". I get pessimistic about the possibility of "good" when I look back at Firefly comics published after the movie: Serenity Float Out or Downtime or mediocre Shepherd's Tale or The Other Half or free excrement like It's Never Easy. "Bad" is always easy.

Lucky for us, none of those Firefly comics were written by Joss Whedon, so there is hope that when he returns to comics the story will be Hollywood good.
