But at $70 for tkts and popcorn We have very few movies that we trust to deliver.

I honestly have cranked up probably 15 movies this season at home that i couldn't get 20 minutes into and just turned em off...even if I rented them...

Disenchanted
Thor Love and....

etc.

if anything I felt bad and embarrassed for some of the actors who in the past have delivered good product and are obviously being directed so very badly.

had we set aside the time, made a date, paid the $ and settled in at the theater.. I woulda been really pissed at the tripe they are producing

I hope OG doesn't mind me quoting him here.
This should have already been a thread, but wasn't.

I hope to suggest films which are ripe for a date night experience.

Hopefully OG and Dun, others can chime in if these recommendations are on track or off-target.

I think Free Guy was good. Nobody also, although not a Rom-Com. And Top Gun Maverick.

Free Guy, although I think it was overrated, makes a wonderful date night movie. In fact, even though I was disappointed by the 2nd and 3rd acts because of the RomCom slant it took after setting up the premise, I think it might just be the Perfect date night movie... Particularly for the "geek" crowd and/or younger audiences.

I think Top Gun and Nobody might be a little hit or miss. Depends on the girl.

Off the top of my head, I'd probably put Meet the Parents, The Princess Bride and Overboard. Although I think the whole premise of Overboard might not go over too well with the Millennials and Zoomers in current year. They seem to be quite fragile.

Not a Rom Com but sometimes Action and Horror can work if the Female half of the couple can tolerate a horror thriller story, almost everyone likes 'Scream' or everyone lieks a good Period film a Swash Buckle Costume 'Musketeers' movie story maybe not this yr I think its out next year, The Princess Bride action comedy swash buckling fantasy, a lot of Disney Dreamworks Pixar type stuff will be good entertainment with explosive effects not mindless but in an animation musical way and charming story like WALL-E. Some stuff can be so dumb it works like 'True Lies' or a movie like Titanic is one of those that fits both disaster movie and box office blockbuster, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is probably something that cartoon anime generation Millennials would watch and there is enough quirky stuff in it to keep them entertained.

I will probably watch the 'Musketeers' remake

I can tell you from experience that Titanic was not a good date night movie. At least not a first date where you barely know each other.

My advice to anybody would be that going to see a movie on a first date is a terrible idea in the first place, but sitting through a 3 hour and 15 minute movie without a single laugh in it to break up any tension with a stranger... No Bueno.

Save Titanic for when you've been together long enough that you both look forward to being with each other without really having to be with each other.

I'll make some suggestions, and if the Date Night crowd can chime in, if they've seen the film, and if is the right fit, give us a sense to gauge by.

Wind River
Arrival
Edge of Tomorrow
Oblivion
Free Guy
Nobody
Top Gun Maverick
Alita: Battle Angel

I love "The Three Musketeers." I'll have to keep an eye out for that one.

Most of your movie suggestions I think are pretty funny for date night, but 2000 Mules takes the cake.

Are you dating dudes? Because more than half of your picks for date night are movies that none of the girls I've ever dated would want to go see. They'd be the type of movies they'd tolerate with me only after I took them to see some Kathrine Heigel drek, or maybe some completely harmless and forgettable movie with Hugh Grant.
