Alita 2's Avatar Influence Could Be Its Most Exciting Development

https://screenrant.com/alita-2-avatar-influence-exciting-update/

Possibly. I won't get my hopes up until it happens.

The articles floating around right now (which are all ripoffs of each other, BTW) have VERY misleading headlines. Nobody has actually said that it's being made yet or that any money is being pored into it. They just mention that a lot of Avitar 2's special effects owe themselves to the first Alita movie and were improved upon in A2, and Producer Jon Landau says "Let's put that back and give it back to Alita".

That is promising, coming from the producer rather than from some special effects guy.

I'd be very happy with a future including a sequel to Alita and Edge of Tomorrow.

I hope that happens in our timeline.

They both beat Lightyear and Strange World and made at least a couple of bucks.

Alita 2 might do a lot better since they're firing all the woke critics that gave it bad reviews and normies are on to their game now anyhow.

WHOZIT

This was a FOX film, Disney has been stripping FOX for parts since they bought it. They're just now casting 'Deadpool 3', (Another FOX film) so don't hold your breath waiting for 'Alita 2'.

Critics don’t make a movie a success or failure. The critics praised Serenity, but the audiences didn’t buy tickets enough for a sequel.

Serenity and Lightyear were equal-size “successes” selling only enough tickets to equal the production budget:
Serenity Lightyear
Domestic Release Date Sep 30, 2005 Jun 17, 2022
Production Budget $39,000,000 $200,000,000

So was Avatar 2 & Spiderman: No Way Home.

The only movies making any real money for Disney right now come from their FOX studio. They should probably leave FOX alone.

Outside of Firefly fans, there was ZERO audience for Serenity. And they cancelled Firefly because of the low viewership vs. the high budget.

And Serenity was a stupid fucking name for the movie anyhow because nobody would have any idea what the hell the movie was even about based off that name.

Also, there was no star power in the movie's cast. Outside of fans of the show, the most well known actor in the movie at the time it was made was Glenn Howerton from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia in his bit part.

Woke critics HATED Alita and took every opportunity to bash one of the best flicks made in 2019.

That's okay. Soon ChatGPT will be doing their jobs. Their existence is superfluous in 2023.

And Alita found its cult following after it left theaters...

For well over a decade, Alita: Battle Angel looked as though it was going to become one of the many James Cameron projects the filmmaker would regularly talk up that never made it out of development hell, having spent so long in stasis at 20th Century Fox.

The filmmaker first signed on to direct the manga adaptation in April 2003, which he planned to be the first installment of a proposed trilogy. Ultimately, Cameron ended up embedding himself in the world of Pandora instead, and it looks as though he’ll be spending the rest of his career churning out Avatar sequels given that we’re 12 years removed from the original and there’s still another four to go.

Luckily, he decided to step away from the camera and hand the Alita: Battle Angel reins to Robert Rodriguez, remaining on board as a writer and producer. The movie may have disappointed at the box office after barely scraping past $400 million globally on a $170 million budget, but it instantly became a fan favorite and cult classic.

Ever since then, supporters have been running a sustained campaign to try and will a sequel into existence, with Rodriguez admitting that he’s hoping his continued involvement with Disney in the Star Wars sandbox may lead to the studio taking a closer look at more Alita: Battle Angel. For what it’s worth, audiences are clearly still enraptured, with the sci-fi epic playing incredibly well on Disney Plus all week, as per FlixPatrol.
