You were busy trying to get yourself lit on fire. It happens.

The main problem is the different people's words are layered over each other. However, I don't think what Hera7 posted about Jayne is right. I am almost positive his second line is "He's seen it before, lot's of it," which is a reply to Inara's about the blood. I think those two lines at least are the same as what Jayne and Inara were saying as Mal regained consciousness at the end of "Out of Gas." But judge for yourself. I converted the wav file to an mp3 without any discernible difference in the audio, but it's a smaller file. Even though it will load rather quickly if you click on the link, I would prefer if you right click and "save as" if you use Windows, or whatever the appropriate Mac command is. http://templetongate.net/OiSRiverDreams.mp3 wo men ren ran zai fei xing.

How did she get it? We hear Jayne talking about how he doesn't leave his guns lying around. and something was mentioned about a combination for the gun locker. I think she just lifted the combination from Jayne's mind.

Quote:Originally posted by TheRealMe: I thought that the whole set of Dream Voices was just lifted straight out of "Out of Gas" from the point where Mal is just waking up near the end. If I'm not mistaken, part of the OOG dream voices is someone offering to scrape some cake off the floor. I would be interested if an audio of that could be captured and the two compared.

When we saw the gun from Rivers POV, it was a stick. She did not seem (to me) to be thinking of the gun as a weapon. I think she was just playing with it. If she knew about Early, she would have tried to warn her brother, like when they re-entered Serenity in Bushwacked. She may have been suspicious that something was up (Wash noticed something odd, too), but not enough to try to warn people.

I believe that some part of her had taken over, but the part of River whose POV we got was clueless. I really liked seeing River's POV. I imagine that she ALWAYS sees the world like this.

Quote:From the Economist: Peter Yellowlees, a professor of psychiatry at the University of California, Davis, has been teaching about schizophrenia for 20 years, but says that he was never really able to explain to his students just how their patients suffer. So he went online, downloaded some free software and entered Second Life... Mr. Yellowlees created hallucinations. A resident might walk through a virtual hospital ward, and a picture on the wall would suddenly flash the word "shitface". The floor might fall away, leaving the person to walk on stepping stones above the clouds. An in-world television set would change from showing an actual speech by Bob Hawke, Australia's former prime minister, into Mr Hawke shouting, "Go and kill yourself, you wretch!" A reflection in a mirror might have bleeding eyes and die.

Quote:Originally posted by Cavalier: I recently came across an article about using the Second Life VR world to give people the experience of schizophrenia. It sounded very like Rivers POV in OiS. I think you are probably right – she usually does see the world like this. No wonder she is so confused.
