Quote:Originally posted by patsrule: I just watched the 2 hour season premier last night from my tivo. I was really disappointed. I felt that overall, it was a bad analogy to the Iraq war. I thought the suicide bombing part was a complete misrepresentation of what suicide bombing really is. The real atrocity of suicide bombings is that they are taking place in soft/civilian targets, but on the show, they were targeting military targets. Both the psychology and the evil of suicide bombing was completely missed. The whole 'cylons want to live in peace with the humans' was flawed and inane. If that was true, there was no reason to go to New Caprica at all. The humans had not encountered the cylons in over a year and were living on their own...then the Cylons show up, take them over and say they want to live in peace!?! I also felt the humans as police troops was another missed analogy. The ending of the premier showed the cylons closer to the Nazi's than the American's, and in that case, they can try to claim that it represents other wars, but I felt it was overall just a misguided attempt to criticize America's involvement in the war on terror. That said, I have been a fan of the show since the miniseries, and I will give it a whilte to try to get back on track.
