I love how this is going.

Hiro's now got a sidekick (and is enjoying this adventure way too much)!

Looks like I was right: Sylar's telekinetic. And appears to have some kind of healing factor or invulnerability.

Claire proves my assumption about powers being linked to brains (and also hints how to "kill" Wolverine, theoretically. . .). There's gonna be a confrontation between her and the jerk (and the jerk's girlfriend). Pity Hallmark doesn't make a "your boyfriend just tried to rape me, then got my head impaled and left me for dead(*)" card. I'm actually more irritated at the unseen Medical Examiner. What kinda incompetent ME starts an autopsy with a big foreign object lodged in the victim? And then removes said foreign object and just strolls out of the room?!? Ducky would have words with this nincompoop.

Uh, sorry. Wrong show, for a second there.

I still wasn't quite sold on this show untill the last shot of last night's episode. That was one hell of a way to end an episode.

Husband looked at me last night at the end of the show and said "ME must be retarded for leaving the stick in her brain. Ducky or Jordan would never have done that."

Sylar has to have teleportation powers as well as telekinetic. Matt, the telepathic cop is in L.A., but the apartment that Mohinder assumes is Sylar's is in New York. Either that or their is more than one person working in collusion.

I don't know if anyone noticed this, but the man who plays Silar was Forrest (Riley's friend) in Buffy. And from what I've seen, I believe his character is psychokinetic, which includes cryokinesis, pyrokinesis, and telekinesis. It would explain the woman being pinned to the wall as well as the man being frozen. And now suddenly realizing how geeky I sound.

I'm not entirely positive it's telekinetics. It seems to me that every bit of evidence of TK also involves a metal object. I remember seeing knives and other thingies to pin people to walls, the gun...

Think they may be going Magneto on this one? That could also help ecplain the not getting killed by all of those bullets thing. I'm just guessing, mind you. TK would make me happy too.

WOW!

That is all I can say about that episode. It was all about the ending. Cheerleader chick coming back was awesome. I hope she freaks out the dude that put her in that position. I'm also curious about the Ali Larter's character. Where's that one going?

Great show! Hope NBC sticks with it to give us the answers we are looking for.

If it was magnetic, she could've just twisted away from the gun. Plus I was watching her finger --it looked like she couldn't pull it away from the trigger (which likely would've been her first instinct at feeling the gun being twisted around).

Also, IIRC, you could make out the bullets hitting him (squibs on his clothes). If they hadn't, he wouldn't have gone down like he did, or moved quite so stiffly as he was getting back up.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Definitely telekinetic & not magnetic. The female FBI agent was fighting pulling the trigger when Sylar made her point her weapon at her own head. There is also the matter of lifting people into the air to impale them on the wall.

As for the bullets, I think it was a matter of telekinetic ability stopping them short of entering him, not some sort of healing ability. I think a hastily erected TK shield stopped them from wounding him, but the force of the impacts still knocked him down. When Sylar stood back up you could hear the bullets hitting the ground. Just as he disappeared you heard a "whoosh" sound as if he flew or jumped up to a great height to evade capture.

Definitely getting really good. I think we will see heroes and villians. Sylar is one, but I think we will see more.

While I agree on the lack of coroner when Claire wakes up on a gurney with her chest cracked open, I think maybe this was done to see the utterly horrified look on his face when he walks in on her. Where do you think her sub-plot will go from here?

I'm thinking that she heals in time to get out of the morgue as the coroner calls someone to let them know that a 16 year old girl with a hole in her head and a cracked open chest has just woken up. She makes a run back to her place to grab some clothes and other stuff because after this, she definitly can't stay in Odessa. She maybe runs into the A/V guy who filmed her and tells him everything, and he either decides to come with her, or he stays behind to kick the ass of the quarterback who killed her. All the while, the mysterious step-dad will be following Claire as she makes her way cross country, maybe possibly meeting up with Hiro in Vegas. That could be a fun episode. A sullen, indestructible 16 year old cheerleader paired with an ecstatic, space-time breaker who used to be an office drone in Japan.

I wonder if there's a fanfic of that already?

Leonard Roberts (Forrest on Buffy the Vampire Slayer) plays D. L., Niki's husband and Micah's father.

It is possible that Sylar is also someone we already know, and in that case my bet is on Nathan Petrelli.

ETA: I certainly think it is possible that D.L. could be Sylar. Micah surely knows something about his father that he is not telling even his mother.

I think that Claire will heal and get out of the morgue before the coroner gets back. It will be played off as a body snatching. Claire will come to the realization, after talking to the nerd w/ the camera (and the crush on her) that her life in town is over. She will try to get revenge on the guy who killed her (as we saw in clips for next week) before leaving town. I think her friend will then convince her she (or possibly they) need to leave town. I think they will be compelled to go to either Las Vegas, or New York, since that seems to be where the two greatest concentrations of Meta Humans seems to be now.

I have no doubt that Claire's adoptive father will follow her, knowing as he does what she is.

This is shaping up to be a great show.

That's assuming that the person who removed said foreign object from the brain was the ME--and not, say, her adoptive father? The ME may be lying unconscious (or worse) just out of camera range...

As to the garbage disposal suit, my question is, what would really happen if you put a human hand into a running disposal of that make? If they have some kind of safety system to prevent serious injury, then their suit has merit; if not, then not. In either event, NBC's legal department shouldn't have shown a specific brand-name on the thing.

I like this show but my husband is fanatical about it. He uses his free time at work to read the graphic novels and blogs on the HEROES website.
His theory is that Syler has all the powers that the other do. So he healed over his gunshot wounds (like Claire would) and pushed them back out (a la Wolverine) and flew away like Nathan. Plus he's got a few more nifty little powers that we haven't seen in anyone else yet.
He said the website is really cool and is loaded with theories from other viewers. Anybody here checked it out?

I was thinking the same thing as your husband. Sylar (or whoever the shady character was) is somehow developing or has developed some type of aggregate power.

Iā€™m also thinking that the shady character, whether he is Sylar or not, might not be a bad guy. Thatā€™s a possibility that Iā€™m drawing from the way these kinds of things play out. Did anyone see the shady character actually kill anyone?

Concerning Claireā€™s autopsy, Iā€™m a little bewildered by the sequence of events also. It seems unlikely that a coroner would have left such an object lodge in the skull during an autopsy. It seems equally unlikely that a coroner would begin exhuming the chest cavity and then leave after only peeling back the abdominal and chest tissue. Also, after Claire came back to life there would have been massive bleeding. Furthermore, in Claireā€™s case, the head would have been examined, which means peeling back the tissue on the skull and removing the brain, which would seem to have drastic consequences to hero-stricken individuals (actually youā€™d be surprised how many things that would kill.) In spite of these seeming inaccuracies, it was a pretty good ending to the episode.

Claire will definitely be getting out of Dodge. Whether or not she bothers to get revenge remains to be seen.

What I am more concerned with is Hiro and his buddy heading towards Vegas. One of the last things we see is his friend looking at psycho mom on his cell phone. If they have a run in with her I'm thinking it will end badly.

That girl hanging around with Mohinder has got to be a plant. She is way too calm about the weird things that are happening. It is no coincidence that the apartment they broke into was cleaned out before the police got there. She didn't seem at all surprised by this.

Anyone else think the explosion in NY is not simply a nuke? My theory is some villain who is able to manipulate energy the same way Hiro messes with space-time.

I was thinking that Pete must be like Sync too. It made sense when he was talking to Mohinder & said he believed his power worked only when his brother was around. That to me screamed it was Nathan that could fly, not Pete. I immediately thought of Sync. When time froze at the end of the episode I was thinking did Pete somehow "borrow" Hiro's power? It didn't make sense though since Hiro was not around.

The black man working w/ Claire's dad is definitely some sort of telepath. Apparently he somehow shut down the cop's mind (can't remember his name) and body. Whoever Claire's dad really is, and whoever he might be working for, he obviously has one of the meta humans in his employ. I would be willing to bet he has more than one.

So who is Sylar and how does he tie into all of this? He is obviously one of the super powered villians they mentioned would appear.

I'll definitly check that out.

I was obviously intrigued by the dark turn that it took this week when not only did we see future Hiro looking and acting very different from the Hiro we know, but also see him use his powers for moentary gain. I thought that his friends rationalization of it ("Is Peter Parker cheating when he sells pictures of Spider-Man?"), opens up an interesting debate. It's interesting that they choose Spider-man, since Peter first used his powers to try to scrape up some cash as an amateur wrestler. And of course, we all know what happened afterwards.

But as for the selling pictures, I think that it's not really cheating, but a way of usurping a blowhard (J. Jonah Jameson) whose unfounded and constant attacks on Spider-Man through the front pages of The Daily Bugle is a form of villainy. So Peter selling him pics of his enemy taken by himself is a way of sticking it to him. As for Hiro stopping time to win at the roulette table, I think they could have only got away with it for so long before the house noticed two Japanese office drones on an unstoppable winning streak. They should have just taken the money from the first few winnings and ran.

But as evidenced in future Hiro, as well as present Hiro getting punched out by one of the Texan's thugs, it's apparant that this abuse of power will come back to bite Hiro in the ass.

Wouldn't surprise me. Since both are NBC shows, it would only make sense to film on pre-existing sets to save cast.

But since we're on the topic of show lapse, there's a bit over at EW.com that theorizes that "Heroes" and "Lost" share the same universe. Tim Kring and Damon Lindeloft both worked on CROSSING JORDAN and they keep in contact about both their shows. And there are so many parallels between the two shows that it would make sense if they occupied the same universe.

Add LAS VEGAS into the mix, and you got an interesting set-up for cross over fanfics.

I say there is no chance that Lost is part of the Heroes/ Las Vegas/ Crossing Jordan universe. Different networks. There won't be any crossovers, and the heroes won't be going to the island.

Love Heroes though. The show gets better and better. I think it may even be better than this season's Lost so far, which is unbelievable since I think Lost is my all-time favorite show to date.

Every episode of Heroes has given me a couple of true chill inducing scenes. Love it.

I really hope they don't go to quickly on explaining why Future Hiro appeared. I think it would be awesome if they revisit it a few seasons down the road. He was so different, it would take a long time to do that metamorphasis.

Not necessarily. Remember, Hiro can stop time.

I can see him "upgrading" himself in a single episode. He just stops time for a (subjective) year or two and studies the extent of his powers.

Wouldn't be unprecedented: That's how Impulse became the new Kid Flash. He sat down and read every book in a library. He was done in about ten minutes, and ended up as a completely new character.

Similar thing happened in The Gargoyles Saga/TimeDancer: The Phoenix Gate appeared, Brooklyn picked it up and vanished. Five minutes later he reappeared, years older, with a new look, a mate, and two kids.

I was intrigued by the twist w/ Hiro & his buddy using Hiro's powers to make money in the casino too Reginaroadie. The roulette wheel was one thing, but I can't believe he pulled that stunt at the poker table. How did they think they were going to get away with it. The comparison by Hiro's friend to Peter Parker was nice & very fitting. I hope it wasn't foreshadowing. I would hate to see Hiro's buddy get killed. Of course given their situation with the guy in the cowboy hat and his thugs, it could be a real possibility.

I agree that Hiro, and very likely his friend, will have his abuse of his powers come back to haunt him. I can't believe his friend shot off his mouth about Hiro's ability. Not very bright.

Actually, I am a fan of many comics. I read DC, Marvel, Image, Dark Horse, as well as a plethora of smaller studio comics. I don't really hold any true loyalty to one over the other.

I call the Heroes metahumans because that is what they appear to be. I don't see any signs of mutation so I have refrained from calling them mutants.

And does Peter have a cool power, or what? Granted, he can only use it around other people with abilities, but it's still pretty shiny.

I hope they find some way for Isaac to use his powers without having to shoot up. Otherwise, he's not long for this world. His has to be one of the most valuble gifts.

It's nice to be excited about a show again. Let's hope that it gets spared the axe by the powers that be. I've heard of three shows that have already been cancelled.

I'm really happy to see all the storeis intertwining so well. I have to admit last nights Ep. was a little predictable, but still solid. Got to catch up Sunday night sonce I had missed Ep. three.
Oh, and the part where the cop stopped the kid from robbing the store. Felt a little choked up. Great scene.

I loved the bit with Hiro and the drivers' manual. Naturally, the guy who only reads Japanese gets the one rental car in all of freakin' North America with an English manual.

I think Peter's ability to activate the power suggests that it can be used "clean," Isaac just has to find some way to kick-start it. Maybe he should try meditation or something.

(I like how their eyes go blind when they paint. It kinda reminds me of Tiresias, the blind prophet from Oedipus Rex. Yay culture!)

I'm afraid, unless they figure out how to really change time, he's a goner by Election Day anyway, right?

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Really enjoyed Monday's episode.

How long has Nathan known he can fly. Did it strike anybody else as odd that he seemed to have such mastery over his gift when Claire's dad & his telepath lapdog had him backed up against the fence? He jumps several hundred feet into the air in a single bound, then breaks the sound barrier as he takes off. Short of a less than graceful landing he seemed to be in real control over his flight power.

What is up w/ Niki's husband the criminal? He seems to be able to be invisible or phase in & out of solid matter. That makes for one interesting power.

Peter's power allowing him to mimic Issac's ability was cool. Did anyone else see notice how he saw flashes of images on the canvas before his eyes clouded over and he began painting? I don't believe that has happened to Issac. Could it be that Peter is more intuititve on the use of powers?

I find the characters' reactions to their powers interesting. Most are in denial or are almost frustrated by them. Isaac, obviously; Nikki, confused and upset; Claire, almost acting like her powers are getting in the way of her real life; the cop (what's his name?) seeing the possibilities, but overwhelmed. Hiro.in contrast, is thrilled to death. Peter takes it all very seriously and finds himself frustrated that the others he has met don't seem to feel the same way.

My theory about the whole thing is that each Hero has a dark counterpart with similar powers. Nikki's dark counterpart is actually inside her, but everybody else's is a separate person. We'll see how many episodes it takes for my theory to be shot down.

Based on his quick reaction in the first episode, and the online comic, I get the impression that he discovered his power a while back and has been quietly training, while doing everything he could to avoid drawing attention. Now that he knows there are other mutants out there, he seems a bit more relaxed about it.

Note how easygoing he seemed after that flight; he just strode into that diner in his skivvies and was perfectly at ease about it. He's starting to enjoy this.

At first, based on the scene, I thought he was turning invisible, but the latest comic makes it clear that he's phasing --and that he's intuited how to control the power. It's tied to emotion.

http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/novels/ for the comic. Sorry, *sarcastic air quotes* "Graphic Novel."

The question of whether Hiro's ability can change the future has already been answered. Isaac's comic showed that schoolgirl in Tokyo being killed, but not Hiro's saving her. She'd be road sushi if Hiro hadn't interfered.

Therefore New York can be saved. One life or 8.2 million, the principal is the same.

So what exactly is Peter's power? Was it flight like his brother or is it absorbing other people's power when he is near them?

If that is the case, it could be possible that he can have all the powers of everyone around him! And that would be awesome!!! I expected his powers to be flight like that of his brother.

Hiro is difinitely the most lighthearted character in the series. He doesn't give me that much of a headache. As for the others all I have are speculations, which is giving me a headache.

I wonder what will the good doctor be up to? He's stubborn!

Of course it will be spared. It is the top rated show of the night in adults 18-49, and NBC's most successful new scripted series. They already ordered additional episodes, so there will be 22 episodes this season alone. Its a good bet it will be brought back for additional seasons next year (which also means there is a good bet there will be copy cat shows that aren't as good, but I digress). The same cannot be said for Studio 60, which follows Heroes. Its a good show as well, but is losing half the heroes audience.

He's a power-matcher, like Synch from Generation X. Anything anyone else can do, he can do better. I don't know if he can match more than one power at a time, though. There'd probably be some pretty bad side-effects.

I read the online graphic novel about Nikki's husband and now I am really confused. Her husband was framed? I thought he was some sort of gang banger or something from the way Nikki talked.

His phasing ability is pretty cool. Like Shadowcat.

I think Peter has the potential to be the most powerful. His ability to mimic others powers could be quite useful. It also seems to me that he seems to have a bit more control over them. When he was looking at the half finished canvas in Issac's flat of the figure that is obviously "Sylar" he saw ghost images of what was to be painted. He also used the ability by simply closing his eyes and focusing. This leads me to believe that Issac does not need drugs to get his powers to work, merely focus.

Can't wait for next week's episode.

Well, the original story (and Nikki's assumption) is that he killed off the rest of his gang.

DL claims he's innocent, and we're also getting the implication that Nikki's alter-ego isn't entirely benevolent. It's entirely possible that she did the killing in one of her fugues.
