You'll get no argument from me. My fave Marvel character, done right, plus better group dynamics than any other superhero movie.

What kinda extras does the DVD have? I don't usually buy disks for movies I've already seen; they're too expensive 'round here.

I bought the bare bones (read: cheap) edition- the deluxe one has deleted scenes, and the making of and such, but it will all be on the upgraded 'extended cut' that they'll put out in a year or so, I got the extended cut of the first one, and I'm REAL happy with it.

Stand back Chris, I got the 'nades:)

Seriously, I absolutely hated F4, but F4:RotSS otoh was a solid F4 outing. The just plain stupid canonical changes from the first film were fixed and the Surfer himself was simply awesome. Not to say that the film didn't have a few minor issues, but overall it was the best Marvel film since Spidey 2.

I’m never serious. Serious means something bad is about to happen.

I saw this movie for the first time last night and loved it. I think the F4 franchise has been handled well, not taken itself to seriously like the X-men films did, X3 in particular pained me! A Marvel superhero film that did the awesome characters justice a rarety that should happen more often!

Best get your six-shooters out for me too.

Gotta say that I can only say two good things about this movie.

1. It WAS better than the first.
2. The scenes with Ben and Johnny were pretty funny.

The rest just didn't thrill me.

Ok Big 'C' we're friends right? I'd like to think should our paths cross we'd share a beer or two, or three. Maybe a few anecdotes about what drew us towards Firefly and this forum, high tales of our teenage endeavours and the ups and downs of life, y'know 'breeze shooting' stuff...

So it is with great respect for our friendship that I say this:

Nah man... You done one stunt too many!

He,he. Ok look I only saw the first one, but it would take a helluva lot of convincing, or bribery, or maybe a serious threat that you'll take my cup of tea away from me before I watch anymore 'Fantastic four' films. (Actually I wonder what they're going to call the fourth one?) Fantastic Four... Er 4, FF4? Fantastic 4 goes fourth?) Anyway... On the strength or weekness of the first one I just can't... not yet. It's too soon! I need time...

Just shoot me now cause that movie was not entertaining. Even as a simple summer action movie it needed a bit more action or a lot less movie.

Why exactly is the silver surfer a teletubby again? How did they manage to make jessica alba look only so so? Bah the movie was just weak.

Yeah... while not explicitly BAD, the movie was lacking on lots of points. Oh, and the Silver Surfer was SUCH a freikin Deus ex Machina- saves the girl, saves the day, sacrifices himself... remind me again why he didn't do that a few million worlds ago?

'Simple' is a good word for this film.

lwaves ducks his head back into his freshly dug grave as a vanilla over-dosed ChrisIsAll swings at him with a shovel.

Seriously tho' - good for you if you enjoyed it.
It's just not what I want from a superhero movie these days. It left me feeling the same as before I started watching it. It didn't capture that feeling of awe, or make me want to be a kid again.
I mean it wasn't complete crap like Hulk, and it was miles better than Spidey 3, but it was nowhere near as good as Batman Begins or the first two Spideys.

Looking forward to The Dark Knight.

And what's wrong with death and ultra-violence??

We almost like superhero movies in the same order. The list done my way:

Superman The Movie
Batman Begins (almost my favourite, almost)
Spider-Man
Superman 2 (Donner Cut - of course)
X-Men
Spider-Man 2
The Incredibles
Batman Returns
X-Men 2
X-Men 3
Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back (Bluntman And Chronic scene (okay I know this is a cheat))

Not seen the director's cut of Daredevil. Is it worth it? I like the original version.

Im my dream, marvel-movie world. (its kewl in here, u oughta see it). I would prefer to keep the F4 movies like they are. Made for all ages, action, and fun.

However, have the X-flicks a lil darker. Not completely devoid of humor or a light side. Just somewhere above the Sin City line, close to B.B. The X-flicks DID show the characters with inner turmoil and hit most of the heavy stories. But, they seemed to try and cover too much of every char.'s story thus diluting a nice character driven element. Tackling the dark phoenix saga, god loves man kills, the Cure, oh and by the way introducing characters along the way gave us a universe of content. Could even keep the same characters, 'cept maybe trade Angela Basset for storm.

got no prob.s with the first two spidey flicks.

Here's hoping Big G. will be at least a Cumulus.

RIVERFLAN

I'll say that although it wasn't my favorite movie (it being Firefly), I did like it. It was WAY better than the first. The first was pathetic. The Silver Surfer was AWESOME.

As for other Marvel movies:
The first Spidy was cool, but the second was blah, and I'm dreading seeing the third.
Batman begins was so-so.
Daredevil was cool.
X-men 1 was kinda blah, but 2 and 3 were way better.
And I HATE Superman. I just think it's stupid.

And someone said the Siver Surfer was pathetic because of the whole "noble hero sacrifices himself" type deal. That isn't exactly true. Yes, its an over-used theme. But there are only, like, six themes in the entire world? The point of a story is the circumstances in which the plot happens. You know, the characters, the etting, stuff like that. Those are what make stories unique , and is why I love to read (especially fantasy).

The Silver Surfer movie JMS wrote died a long time back, when FF2 didn't sell as well on DVD as the first.

As a matter of fact, FOX is now planning to reboot FF, and ditch these first 2 - which is fine by me. The second was ok, but the first sucked hard.

Don't hold your breath, they are saying new cast, new creative team. Probably not a new origin, but they'll approach it like the last Hulk movie - can be read as a sequel, or a hard reboot. But no one from the first two is expected to be involved.

Though I didn't enjoy the movies, I thought Chiklis and Evans were pretty spot-on as far as casting, so I'll be bummed to see them replaced. McMahon was gawd-awfull, Grufford was...okay. Alba was great eye candy, but otherwise brought nothing to the role. So no huge loss on those three, IMO.
