Okay, I loved Term 1 & 2, and I abhorred 3.
I watched a few eps of TSCC and found myself liking it too much, so I figured FUX would cancel it, and I terminated my Hulu viewing of it to avoid the inevitable heartache.
I recently saw Salvation (with which I could deal), and the animated prequel (with which I could MORE than deal), and now I need to know if I should sell stuff to buy TSCC to sate my Terminator thirst-
BUT, if the last ep of season 2 is too cliff-hangar-y, I can't handle it.

So, any thoughts, my Browncoat peeps?

Unfortunantly Chris, much like our very beloved DARK ANGEL, "FUX" as u call it axe'd TSCC, with a fraking cliff-hanger-y ending, much like DARK ANGEL. But, even with that, it is worth buying, more than worth buying. Even tho Jesse Flores is a super bitch, worse than Renfro, if possible. We MUST BRING TSCC BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it is quite Cliffhangy, I am sorry to say, But acording to BAG(Brrian Austin Green) that plays Derek, a movie is a possibillity, said by him at the StarFury/T2 con in Britain here this june that we have jusst got out of

we could have used one more to fight for our cause, the SaveTtSCC-group(you can probably find them by searching on SaveTtSCC) is gathering money to make a billboard(it has already driven around once) drive arround a big Con(ComiCon I think it was) here in the 20´s of July too.

I own both seasons as I really liked this show and still do. It had a lot going for it after a bit of a shaky start. Even with the plot continuity problem betweens seasons (points left unfinished, characters disappearing) none of them were really major problems IMO. The show delved into much more emotional stuff than the films did, especially between Sarah and John. The great episodes far outweighed the not so great and there were some nice links to the mythology.
The ending is a definite cliffhanger that at first glance won't make much sense but can be explained with some thought and filling the blanks in with your own personal ideas.
A third season would definitely have been interesting.

Overall, knowing a bit about what you like, I would say it's worth buying - except for the ending. I like it but you may not.
Maybe rent it first and see what you think but definitely see it through to the end because it does have some great episodes.

EDIT: Because I misread a post about Angel and thought it was Dark Angel - understandable as it is Chris.

I think Angel had a fantastic ending that fitted the show. But I also agree with you in wanting more. To me, and I'm sure many others, it ended two seasons too early. There were still stories to tell. TSCC has a similar feeling although they end differently.

Don't worry about unresolved cliffhangers or money. I watched both seasons of Terminator and I know where season seven ends. There will be a Terminator master computer self-destruct sequence. To win the War, John Connor must decide to either sacrifice Cameron, the female sex-robot who loves him completely, or the real woman who likes him a tiny bit, Allison Young, the virgin that Cameron is a clone of. You will want to purchase the DVD if for nothing else...the final episode with Summer laying on the bed asking John to do something for her. That was over a year ago, and I still think about it!

Lena Heady (Sarah Connor) just never connected in the role for me. I found her acting style very stilted. The rest of the cast was good, and the show was really starting to look like something great....then it just ended.

I really don't see any reason to watch this series. It's really pretty bad. There are maybe 4 cool episodes in the entire run. For the most part it's just terrible acting and terrible plot. The production quality is pretty laughable too. They had this whole episode with chess being a large focus and they apparently couldn't find a single person who has ever played chess to consult. They created a chess program with the pieces on the wrong color squares. They had a voice over by sarah saying chess is a game of total annihilation (or something along those lines) which is just completely wrong. That's pretty much the standard for the series. It just shoots from the hip and doesn't take the time to do things right.

The ending was a cliffhanger but I agree you can pretty much make up the rest of the show without seeing it. Which also shows how bad the show is. There are no plot twists or anything shocking in there. It's just "let's fight the machines but you know not really fight them because then we'd get to the end of the series...so let's stall...enjoy".

While working I was thinking about the dumbest plot point in TTSCC. It would be in episode 2, season 1, when the roadside trash picker finds a Terminator skull, where it has been sitting for years. The body has been in a automobile junkyard. And when the two are reunited, all hell breaks loose!

That does not match the mythology of how bare metal objects, like a metal skull, can not be sent through a time bubble, which is used in episode 1 as an excuse to strip Summer Glau naked in the middle of a freeway. And why would the police dump a Terminator torso found at a crime scene? Where are the smarter FBI?

The easy fix for this stupid plot mistake is to send, at the same time, more than one identical Terminator to hunt for the Connors. The writers would not have needed to re-shoot the pilot episode. But if they had (and they did when they replaced the actor playing Charlie) the pilot episode could have Cameron killing two and Sarah killing one more rather than running from the same Terminator, again and again and again.

I would prefer to see Summer Glau holding a Terminator's computer chip and sadistically saying, “Cromartie is completely helpless. Without a mouth, it can't even scream when I do this.” John and Sarah are horrified as Summer Glau zaps the chip again and again. That's more sanitary torture than on 24 and with an actress as good as Summer, it would be as shocking. She can display some very unhealthy emotions -- joy at another's pain.

The cromartie thing was just a terrible plot device. They were taking out terminators one or more per week and yet for some reason they were super scared of cromartie.

The terminator of the week plots felt so pathetic on their own but then to have one terminator who's somehow more scary than the others is just silly with no reasoning.

I mean you could look at Buffy and say she killed vamps like they were nothing except when it came to spike, drusilla, and angel. Though I think they pretty well explained that those three were particularly deadly. When it comes to machines in the terminator world there's really no reason why one terminator of the same model should be any more deadly than another. If they had given a reason that might be fine. They chose not to and it was just silly.

Well, a lot of the Metal they ended up fighting were "builders" --sent by Skynet to ensure its own creation. Sure, when they spotted John, hardwired "kill on sight" programming took over, but that wasn't their original mission.

Cromartie, OTOH was a targeted Connor-killer, and displayed a fair mount of adaptability --and he had identified Cameron, who tended to be their secret weapon against the others. He also knew more about them in particular (including the "John Baum" alias), and was able to preserve the element of surprise (they kept catching glimpses of him after he'd already moved on, but they couldn't get ahead of him [no pun intended]).

And as for Cromartie's head surviving the time portal; I have a theory about that. It was only actually in the portal for a split-second. We don't actually know how long it takes inorganic matter to break down, or at what point in the process (open/create portal, clear target area, transition travellers to target time, close portal) the actual breakdown occurs.

Think of it like a fly slipping through an airtight door; the fly cannot open, move, or close the door, but it can slip through while I open the door to walk through.

It's possible the skull was a little charred or damaged, but not enough to be really noticeable to a non-specialist or impair its function.

I think the writers were working with the idea that only a select few Terminators have a personality and are conscious and most others are no more aware than a hand-held, talking navigation computer for a car. Cameron was suppose to be an emerging consciousness -- a metal Pinocchio puppet, except she would evolve over many episodes into a real woman, not a boy.

But then the storyline jumps forward fast and out-of-control when Allison Young's memories suddenly pop into Cameron's metal noggin. It is the passing of the pure bullshit mystical torch of life to a machine. (Ray Kurzweil doesn't agree that it is bullshit. Phooey on him and The Singularity, also know as the Rapture of the Nerds, where the richest tech people get eternal life by becoming machines.)

Discussions of consciousness are too subtle for TV or me. All the Terminators should have been declared as conscious entities, even the ones that are duplicates. That way the humans can feel warm and fuzzy when they kill 'em -- it's personal, it's not just business. And save the sophomore philosophical arguments about what is consciousness and humanness for the movies. Whoops! Movies are dumber than TV. Save it for the novelization.

I thought it was to dark, I like Hotpoints take better, he has if anyone should happen not to know, also written a really good Buffy Angel Crossover, where Ilyria takes back through time to make a "few" changes(arives at the vinyard just before Xander loses his eye) can be found at either Fanfiction.net or Twisting the hellmouth under Hotpoint.

I just love it :-)

I'd recommend The Angel comic books that pick up right where season 5 left off.

Unlike the Buffy comic, Angel is actually well written, and feels like the show a lot.

Thanks, but I cannot deal with the art. It's a really subjective thing, I realize. The Buffy art was only a bit better to me.
