REGINAROADIE

The only one you're forgetting is arguably the great film comcposer ever, Bernard Hermann. He did the music for CITIZEN KANE, almost all of Hitchcock's movies, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, TAXI DRIVER and created the theme music for THE TWILIGHT ZONE.

And on a personal note, I'd throw in Thomas Newman, for his invaluable contributions to AMERICAN BEAUTY and FINDING NEMO.

"We have five million Cybermen. How many are you?"
"Four"
You would destroy the Cybermen with four Daleks?"
"We would destroy the Cybermen with ONE Dalek. You are superior in only one respect."
"What is that?"
"You are better at dying."

Trash talk between a Cyberman and a Dalek. It doesn't get any better than that.

ECGORDON

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

One of my favorite of classic film composers is Bernard Hermann - Citizen Kane, The Magnificent Ambersons, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Vertigo, North by Northwest, Psycho, The Birds, Taxi Driver, Obsession, plus theme to tv's Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

A few less traditional names:

Angelo Badalamenti - Twin Peaks, Lost Highway, Mullholland Drive, Dark Water, The Wicker Man

Brian Eno - Dune, A Midnight Clear, Neverwhere, 28 Days Later, The Jacket

Stewart Copeland - Rumble Fish, Talk Radio, Highlander II, Babylon 5: The Gathering, Dead Like Me

ETA: I didn't realize it took me that long to look up some of the films these guys did. Reginaroadie had not posted before I clicked on the reply button, thus beat me to the Bernard Hermann tribute.

Dario Marianelli- I Capture The Castle, The Brothers Grimm, Pride and Prejudice, Opal Dream (an Aussie film that no one saw), V For Vendetta.

HELL'S KITTEN

Yoko Kanno - pretty much everything she did on Cowboy Bebop, series and movie (not to mention Ghost In The Shell). Gorgeous music. If you're fond of the Firefly music, you may find a few things you like from the Cowboy Bebop soundtracks.

Just a notion Saraisall

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Only one I can think of that hasn't been mentioned yet is Mark Snow, who did all the music for the X-files. Some of my favorite TV music until Firefly came along

Seconded.

She also did Escaflowne, Macross Plus, and many others that I don't know offhand.

Good Catch ! Especially the Blade Runner tracks . I also love his Opera Sauvage .

To the on-par with Jon Vangelis list , I would also add Mark Isham . Particularly his soundtrack for " Never Cry Wolf " . Love that !

Loved the U2 and Seal compositions for whichever Batman film to which they contributed works .

Favorite soundtrack of late : " Memoirs of a Geisha " , which is also from John Williams . It is lush , gorgeous , and very evocative of emotion . It features the work of Violinist Itzhak Perlman and Cellist Yo Yo Ma . ( NOT " Yo MaMa ! " )

It also fits very well into the category of
" background music for the Firefly 'Verse " . Very Highly Recommended !

Keep the Faith . Share the Love . Feel the Joy !
