I'm nearing the end of season two on DVD, and just saw the ep featuring our own beloved Badger, and I cannot BELIEVE how well written it was!!!
FINALLY, we have peeps in creative places learning from Joss!

Well done, Mr. Nix!

....+ Bruce, just funnier & funnier.

Any Browncoats not onto this should turn themselves into Niska for some spanking.

Word. This show is quite awesome. Bruce Campbell is beyond hilarious, as is the rest of the cast, the guest stars are quite awesome, the writing is great, the acting is superb, and I'm learning how to be a spy and live on the lam with basic hardware store supplies and everyday items!

I've become a better, more capable member of the resistance because of this show****

Your Indian Pirate Lord,
Ash

****I kid, for there is no resistance yet.... But... you never know.....

This is definitely one of my favorite shows. It's smart and funny, hard to beat that.

Yup, it's CONSISTENTLY smart and funny. And it hasn't let up a bit this season. It started out as what I thought of as a fun, throw-away "summer show", but it's grown and become one of my favorite shows on TV, period. It's as funny and quirky as Chuck, and if anything, it's got smarter, more snappy writing.

Don't sweat it, Chris; I'm in the same boat with True Blood, Dexter, The Tudors, Weeds, etc. No HBO and no Showtime will do that to ya!

I think you might need to track down Sons of Anarchy on DVD. I think you might like it.

I went w/ out cable for 3 yrs, back when the BDH were flyin' about the t.v. 'verse.

No cable, no dish, just bunny ears and good ol' DSL for my internet.

Then I got this crazy idea to ditch my land line, boot DSL and step up to cable internet. Well, ya can't do that ( here ) unless you get cable t.v. too. So the choice was out of my hands. Easy peasy.

If I got cable, it would be just for the cartoon Network (for my son) & USA (for Burn Notice).
$65 a month for two channels? That dog don't hunt. And I HATE watching TV online with all the pauses & freezes.

...So I wait for the DVD's.

Watching series via DVD = acceptable. No commercials, watch at your own pace, plus those tasty DVD extras.

Yes, quite sweet. Plus, with an upconverting player, it looks excellent for something shot in 16mm!

I actually prefer it that way. The DVR makes a pretty tasty alternative, though. I at least get to zip through the commercials. I rarely watch anything in "real time" anymore - I DVR it and watch it usually the next night, sans commercial interruptions. If it's a show I'm *trying* to really get into, I save up 3 or 4 episodes and then do a mini-marathon; I find total immersion in any such 'verse can get you REALLY hooked on a show that you'd otherwise find a little iffy.

At this point, I just wish I had a bigger hard drive in the DVR... I'm toying with the idea of trying to download HD programs to a separate, portable eSATA hard drive to see how that treats me. I can usually find those units for around $80-100 for a 1TB or 2TB unit, and those would hold several seasons of hi-def programming, I would think. If it worked, it would actually be cheaper than buying seasons on DVD!

SAVEWASH

Now I am learning about scary.

No Niska for me: I LOVE this show! Loads of fun. Without giving anything away, the new season is looking to be just as good as the past ones.

(Okay, so we're decadent and wasteful enough to get cable. You can't get very many decent sports or shows without it, at least in my opinion. Gotta have WGN for the Cubs, after all! )

Chris, nowadays, you almost don't need cable if you have broadband internet. Everything is on Hulu or the mother channel's websites.

I watched Sons of Anarchy on Hulu.

While you're at it, the first 4 eps of Burn Notice 3rd season is on Hulu too. But hurry up. Each ep is only on Hulu for 5 weeks. I have cable, but never have time when it airs. So I Hulu it at my own pace.

Burn Notice rocks. Also Dexter, Raising the Bar, Weeds, and Psych!
