So, even though Enterprise is over, Doug Drexler has been refining the design for the "what if" season 5 (or, for the ongoing Romulan War novels, take yer pick). With the 2011 Ships of the Line calendar, we finally get our official look at the Enterprise's post-Coalition refit.

And here's a (rough) video version:

Hello,

This does not seem to me anything like a refit, but more like an entirely new ship.

I will add that the Enterprise in Enterprise (Akiraprise to some commentators, who aren't far from the mark) has had me shaking my head since the TV guide article came out before episode 1 aired.

How wonderful it might have been to see a show that actually showcased the difficult early days of Terran interplanetary relations in a ship that actually looked the part. Instead, the ships in the show, including the Enterprise hero ship, look to be way ahead of their time from a design perspective.

I guess we can thank the show's continuing time travel plot for leaking designs to the past? Whatever the reason, I disdain it.

I have to agree with Anthony and say it looks more like a new ship than a refit, too much has changed.
And it still looks far too advanced. And kinda ugly.
I think they realise that they screwed up the NX-01 design and are trying to make up for it by creating some sort of hybrid between that and the TOS Enterprise. IMO it looks like they've taken a model of each one, kept half of each and glued the bits together.
Another reason I'm glad there is no season 5.

It looks better IMO, but still so wrong.
Geeze, I could design a better Enterprise for that series.
Or heck, just use this:

Hello,

Yes, the Daedalus would have been better than the Akiraprise. I'd even have been happy if they took some liberties with the shape of the secondary hull, making it slightly sleeker.

What we got? What we got was a ship that didn't look like it belonged in any continuity.

I'm sure we all agree that continuity was the last thing on the minds of the creators of the show. The fact that they called the ship Enterprise and wedged it into Trek lore/history was a bad move right from the start. It should have been called something else then at least it may have stood more of a chance and not been compared to later Enterprise's.
