There's just something attractive about girls with unreal battle skills.

Likes to mess with stuffs.

Yeah, I know, we've it all before, River from Firefly, Sydney from Alias, Max from Dark Angel, Nikita, etc., but who could ever get tired of seeing girls with mean battle skills kick ass? I certainly wouldn't. Let me introduce you to Hanna.

Interesting cast.

And yes, it does look rather familiar.

( something not right w/ that girl )

I take it you meant Max from Dark Angel ?

Ayep, that's a Tykebomb.

And yeah, although the attraction can be in an awfully creepy way sometimes, cause for sheer body count you almost *have* to go with Lucy from Elfen Lied - anime alone hints at a 5 digit tally, and the manga goes for six-plus, soo.. eeaaughhh, *shudder*. Kinda tragic given that the only thing one needs do to be safe is not be mean to her.

And yeah, I was attracted to Lucy - not Nyu, prolly for the same reasons I think Mai (from Avatar: The Last Airbender ) is absolutely precious, but then what can one expect from a guy who had a crush on Wendsday Addams when he was a kid ?

Cool scene, though some what creepifying.

But I couldn't shake the idea that I'd seen that little girl before, and then it hit me...

One kinda reminded me of t'other, somewhat.

Gotta admit, that scene leaves me in giggles...

But if you wanna talk LITTLE-little, and severely creepy, Gunslinger Girl abounds with both, especially as I found out about it looking for parts for my Norinco M1897 Trench Gun. (One of the characters uses one, is why it was mentioned) All of them are tremendously creepy, but Elsa takes the cake, platter and table!

Still doesn't hold a candle to the "Vampire Twins" from Black Lagoon - I can honestly say I haven't seen anything more bone-chillingly horrifying in fiction, and I'm not including a vid clip for very good reasons... (recognizing the english voice actor for "Gretel" as one of the Care Bears make this substantially worse.) They wigged *ME* out, and that takes doin!

Oddly enough though, Gretels theme, "World of Midnight" is one of my favorite songs, since most of my work shift takes place all alone in icy cold darkness.

I thought I was the only one, Frem.

Strangely, I find that a comfort.

Really had a good time watching Nick Cage as Big Daddy, but Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl stole the movie.

If you liked Kick Ass then you'll like Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

Wednesday Addams, you too Frem! Even the movie version kinda caught my eye (Cristina Ricci). Let me add to the list of kick-ass girls: LeeLoo Dallas Multipass (not sure of the body count though); Ghost in the Shell, O Ren Ichi, and who could forget Hit Girl (in the appropriately named Kick-Ass), and, of course, our girl River. Whaddaya think Frem does her total body count in Serenity rate high praise in this category? Of course some of the ladies I mention above are not what you consider "Tykes."

At this point I'd like to mention a possible future HoF (Hall of Famer) to our Tyke Squad - Baby Doll, the Sailor Moon look-alike from the upcoming "Sucker Punch" movie. Fellas, the line starts here. From the trailers - this movie looks like it'll be all kinds of AWESOME!

Well, River can certainly stack em in piles, I'll give her that - given her ability to read people and their intentions in a fight that's almost as good as being able to see a couple seconds into the future, so barring a storm of lead, serious numbers or a bombing run, up close I'd say she's pretty much invincible.

And yanno, I mentioned Black Lagoon, and the creepy twins, but seriously, that one is PACKED with female badassery, you got Revy, Roberta, Shenhua, Yolanda, Sawyer... http://www.funimation.com/blacklagoon/

Here's a taste of Revy and Chang - the link above also has a vid preview so you can get the flavor of it, and yes it's available in english, in fact the english dub has *better* voice work than the original.

And Season Three is soon to be released here, which introduces Robertas protege, Fabiola.

Hey Frem,

Just finished watching the series known as Sekirei? There were some decent girl-on-girl battles in that one.

It wasn't half bad.

Saw Hanna yesterday, almost didn't get to, thanks to a couple Randroids hell bent on picking a fight with me, but that got sorted with the help of some friends who were taking their kids to see Hop - so, all good.

It was obviously shot on a short cast and string budget, so with that in mind Hanna was actually quite good - the plot is so predictable it might as well be on rails, but the acting and camera work was definately a cut above for this type of thing, special props to the creepy trio, and that little tune their leader is fond of whistling will haunt you for HOURS after.

I'll look into Sekirei when I have time, as I am also trying to get my hands on a couple other pieces, Nanoha A's which seems to be hard as hell to find at the moment, and Saikano which was suggested by someone else.

After a few bad experiences with pre-orders (like getting Hell Girl three DAYS after folk bought it off the shelf!) I generally abstain, but my supplier made me an offer on K-On! since I am buying in bulk (for Kira and all her friends), that was just too good to pass up, 60% off, so that's been sorted.

Yanno, if they really wanted to draw a crowd to the theatre, instead of the pathetic re-hashed crap they're serving for the most part, what they oughta do is get Rei Hiroe and Quentin Tarantino together and make a live action Black Lagoon.

Seriously, that would rock.

Sekirei is available on Netflix streaming, just so you know. I'm gonna try to catch Hanna soon. Sometimes low budget is good (it seems to me that most flicks over $100M to make are a waste). I like your idea of Hiroe and Tarantino hooking up live-action anime, I like it. Zack Snyder's attempt (Sucker Punch) was a ballsy move - anime meets '300' - but I'll bet any amount the studio threw a monkey wrench into that one. Just a theory.
