No wonder the teachers unions are ' all in ' for Barry. Good grief! We have absolute children, posing as "adults", teaching classes these days.

Quote:

SPENCER, N.C. – A teacher at a Rowan County school has been suspended after getting national attention for a YouTube video video that surfaced last week showing her yelling at her students, saying it’s wrong to criticize the president.
In the YouTube video, North Rowan High School teacher Tonya Dixon-Neely and her students were debating several political issues, including a discussion about President Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney.

The video, which was uploaded on May 14, had more than 178,000 views on YouTube as of Monday afternoon. The story has been picked up by national media outlets, including Fox News and the New York Post. Controversial radio host Rush Limbaugh discussed the issue on his radio show on Monday afternoon as well.

The conversation starts as the class discusses recent accusations that Mitt Romney bullied someone as a teenager in the 1960s.

But the conversation quickly turns into an argument between several students and the teacher, with some students questioning Obama and asking if Obama bullied someone in high school as well.

“That’s disrespect. This man (Romney) is a presidential candidate. He’s not the president,” the teacher is heard shouting. “Let me tell you something. You will not disrespect the president of the United States in this classroom.”

She was fine w/ dissing Bush, but Barack ? Not in her class room! Un-uh! No way!

Were it only the 1st time this has happened.

It ain't.

Clearly, all are equal, but some are MORE equal than others.

Gee, another "here's an isolated incident - so it MUST be what ALL libruls do..... hey, stop judging all teabaggers by the actions of a few(dozen)." Rappy thread.

Quick, anyone see where the woman says its okay to bash Bush as the Raptard claims? Must have been while Obama was shoving that little girl to the ground.

She even says, right there in the article and video, that she would not allow such language of ANY president, or even the tea partyers. Literally - the OPPOSITE of the Rappyboy claimed. Hilarious.

Ah, RapFacts, tres funny.

Storybook - here's the video.

She screams at the student, and is the one acting like the child here.

Listen for yourself. Her whole defense is, Obama is the President, you can't say anything bad about him, but Romney WANTS to be President, and because he's not yet, it's fair to criticize him and his past.

Obama admitted himself to bullying the little girl. That's all the student asked , is how are the 2 incidents different. The teacher ( like many here, it seems ) doesn't want any part of THAT discussion... Hell, she even goes on to LIE about Bush, and says folks were ARRESTED for saying bad things about Bush.

WHAT??? Too gorram funny!

There really is no defense to this, Stroybook. But you'll probably give it your best, huh?

And your perpetual , childish yammerings of 'Rapfacts ', only shows the bias and stubbornness on your part.

Yes, skippy, I saw. Did you miss the part where she says:

Quote:

“Do you realize that people were arrested for saying things bad about Bush,”
“You are not supposed to slander."

“As a social studies teacher I cannot allow you to slander any president in here, past or present. If that’s the case, somebody could say negative things about the Tea Party.”

Apparently, you did miss it - because you seem convinced that she said the exact oppositer thing. Interesting.

Quote:

Obama admitted himself to bullying the little girl.

Again, yes, I know. We've discussed this. Please do try and keep up.

He did not, however, say anything about shoving her to the ground - that was YOU inventing part of the story (lying is the common word for it) and then being a little shitweasel when confronted about it.

Quote:

There really is no defense to this, Stroybook. But you'll probably give it your best, huh?

And there's the rub - I DIDN'T DEFEND IT, you blithering tool.

I just pointed out the fallacies you presented - and in your eagerness to contradict me - you proved my point, once again.

Brilliant.

Oh, and since you seem to slow to get it - "RapFacts" are the patently false things you say - and then claim they are facts. Like saying this woman was okay with attcking Bush (when she said the EXACT opposite) or claiming Obama pushed the little girl to the grou7nd (entirely fabricated bullshit).

Rapfacts = Lies. And yes, I am biased against lies.

That simplify it enough for you? Or will you need that read aloud for you?

I love how you TRY to make this about me, while completely ignoring what this teacher ACTUALLY said.

She said folks were ARRESTED for talking bad about President Bush.

That never happened.

She seems to think that any negative talk about a sitting President is " slander ".

Perhaps you need to re-listen to the tape, and not rely on some typed transcript.

Oh, and I just LOVE the 'just another isolated incident' part. Glenn Beck even has reoccurring bit about that...

( yes, I know it's Glenn Beck, but THIS is funny )

You line up enough dots, one after another, they become a solid line. Just sayin'.

I get what YOU'RE trying to say, but do you get what I'M saying ? Gee, I wonder.

GW Bush arrested the official presidential nominees of the Libertarian Party and the Constitutional Party, and one of the Republican Party condidates.

Hussein Obama Soetoro arrested the only Democratic Party candidate, John Edwards, with a life sentence on death row, if he's lucky, and seeks to jail all U.S. journalists who criticize him.

That's beyond absurd. There's nothing remotely close to "PN" about my posts, and you know it. Why do I say that ? Because , even if pressed, you couldn't find any thing that supports your claim. Not that you would, even if you thought you could, but that's another issue.

No, that's not the definition of a lie.

But first, the teacher does bash Bush, but then flips and claims it's not right to bash the President. So which is it ? She seems to want to have her cake and eat it too, when it comes to Obama.

She claimed folks were arrested for speaking out against Bush. That didn't happen. ( She was wrong, but was she LYING ? ) Her position seems to be that, once anyone becomes President, it's unlawful for anyone to speak out against them. Point is, this 'teacher' is so confounded by the topic, she herself has no clue what she's saying. All she knows is that you can't " dis " Obama. Period.

Exactly.

I think people are missing the really offensive and dangerous part of her comments. Yes, she says people can be arrested for being critical of the President. That is bad but taken in context she's clearly reached the stage where she's trotting out a 'scary monster' to win the argument by convicing her young and somewhat obnoxious student to shut the hell up.

The dangerous part is earlier when they are in the substantive portion of the discussion. She simply does not see Barrack Obama and the Mitt Romney as equals. That somehow Barrack Obama by virtue of being President is superiour to all other American citizens. Yet we know she did not consider all Presidents that way since she does not hold Bush in that regard. So why is Barrack Obama different? He is black. A black President in her world view is superior to a white challenger. This betrays a deeper racism. I believe that she believes that blacks in general are superior to whites.

Her argument with a student is bad, her deeper racial animosity is the larger danger.

The claim that , since Obama IS the President, he can't be besmirched, but because Romney is TRYING to be President, but isn't yet, means he's in season for ridicule.

Also, did anyone catch where the teacher was threatening the student that she'd tell his parents that he wasn't doing his work in class ? This is clear intimidation on her part, to shut up any debate on the issue, by using her position of authority. Doesn't matter if the kid really was doing his work or not, that's not germane to the issue at hand!

Uneffingbelievable. This teacher has the maturity of a 10 yr old, and she's suppose to be teaching these kids ?

That's what the 1st Amendment is all about. But this lady, this 'teacher', has no CLUE of what any of that actually means.

Sad part of this is, I had teachers who were close to this bad. Not many, but even at the time, I knew some teachers were as useless as this lady. I think nowadays, there are more like her out there. Listen to the video, the kids are completely unruly. Tossing profanities around like it was no big deal? Use to be that you wouldn't dare utter 1 vulgar word in the presence of a teacher, anywhere. Here, there tossing out profanity , in class, like it was no big deal.

Aside from the whole Obama is RULER issue here, this is a seriously sad example of education in America today.

SALISBURY — Rowan-Salisbury Schools officials suspended a North Rowan High School teacher Monday while investigating an incident caught on camera where the teacher told a student he could be arrested for speaking ill of President Barack Obama.

In a nearly 10-minute YouTube video shot by a student in the classroom, Tanya Dixon-Neely, a social studies teacher, told students criticism of the president could lead to jail time.

“Do you realize that people were arrested for saying things bad about Bush?” she said of former President Bush. “Do you realize you are not supposed to slander the president?”

Dixon-Neely has been suspended with pay, according to Rowan-Salisbury School System Spokeswoman Rita Foil.

On Friday, Foil said the incident can be a learning experience.

“The Rowan-Salisbury School System expects all students and employees to be respectful in the school environment and for all teachers to maintain their professionalism in the classroom. This incident should serve as an education for all teachers to stop and reflect on their interaction with students.”

A Salisbury Post reporter went to Dixon-Neely's home for comment this morning, but no one answered the door. Calls to her number have gone unanswered and there is no answering machine.

The video went viral over the weekend and viewership jumped from about 1,000 views to more than 168,000 Monday morning.

Quote:

That's pretty much the crux of it, and all the rest is bullshit. But I'll take it apart statement by statement:

I agree that
Quote:

Yes, she says people can be arrested for being critical of the President. That is bad but taken in context she's clearly reached the stage where she's trotting out a 'scary monster' to win the argument by convicing her young and somewhat obnoxious student to shut the hell up.
Which shows she's not a good teacher in letting them get to her, and reaching for things she doesn't know are true to make her point. One could attempt to cite where those wearing anti-Bush t-shirts were arrested, but that's pushing the point; she was wrong, period.

Okay, I took the time to listen to the entire video. She said quite clearly: "He is due the same respect that EVERY OTHER PRESIDENT is due", and "You will not disrespect the President of the United States in this class" and again later "You do not disrespect the President of the United States" and "Let me tell you something. As a teacher, I'm not supposed to allow you disrespect the President of the United States" and "You can have a different belief, but you will not disrespect him in here" and "He's the President just like every other President before him" and "as a social studies teacher, I cannot allow you to slander any President in here, past or current".

She also stated that Romney wasn't the President, so there was a difference. That's her bias, and again shows a complete lack of professionalism.

Whether I agree with her or not, she is quite clear in stating, repeatedly, that she's talking about ANY PRESIDENT, past or current (which includes Bush). Ergo, the statement that she was fine with dissing Bush is unquestionably false. Her distinction between Romney and Obama is that Romney is not the President. Given her obviously strong feelings about not dissing the President, it's easy to see why she made that distinction. She may be wrong in making the distinction (which I believe she was), but it has nothing to do with Romney or Obama.

Obama did NOT "admit to bullying" the girl in question; he related how he was teased about her being his girlfriend, he begged her to verify the fact that she was not, she was silent, and he SHOVED her. That is not bullying, much as some would like it to be, it's a playground reaction by children.

The teacher did not, at any time, "bash Bush". I listened to the whole thing, and nowhere did she say anything negative about Bush; if she did and I missed it, it will have to be quoted.

Call them misperceptions if you will, but they are incorrect.

The teacher was COMPLETELY WRONG in going on her rant rather than answering the question posed about Obama "bullying". She had the opportunity to explain the difference between a young boy shoving a girl out of frustration, and the planned and committed act of a number of his classmates throwing a person to the ground and cutting his hair. Instead she went off on a rant about dissing the President...very, very unprofessional, served only to ruin her credibility with the class, and did nothing to educate them on the facts of the two instances, which WOULD have been helpful to the students. She could so easily have made a really good teaching moment out of it, and she failed miserably. As a social studies teacher, I bemoan the fact that she missed the opportunity to show how political parties play "games" with the facts.

Wulf saying "Its mistake was trying to pull this in a school where the majority were not...anima...Obama supporters" is idiotic, as he has no knowledge what the majority in the school think about anything. But Wulf making stupid statements is nothing new, so unimportant.

One of the articles posted said:
Quote:

Over the weekend, Breitbart.com reported that the student involved asked a friend to record the exchange in order to "prove to his parents what he has been trying to tell them for some time. The teacher in this video has a long history of pushing a liberal agenda, by shouting down students. She is very intolerant of other points of view that she does not share. The atmosphere at this school is not very conducive to opposing views."
This is one student's opinion, ergo valid for him, but has not been proven in any way. Given it's quoted from Breitbart, I would need a second, reliable, source to give it credence. In every website I found mentioning this, it quotes Breitbart, nothing about individual reporting.

I couldn't stand to watch much of the "indoctrination video", it made me sick to my stomach. From the little I did see, there is no way anyone could defend that.

So, in my "politifact" estimation, five obvious falsehoods (she did say any President, she didn't bash Bush, Obama didn't admit to (nor did he engage in) "bullying", and the claim that because of unions she wouldn't be fired). Four truths (she did wrongly say people were arrested, she did differentiate between Romney and Obama, it IS a sad example of education in America today, and we SHOULD be able to criticize a sitting President...as a social studies teacher, that should be part of her JOB, not a requirement of the opposite, and she didn't "lie about Bush"). At least two questionable statements (that the majority of the school were not Obama supporters and that the teacher was bullying by saying she would contact his parents about his schoolwork--a teacher SHOULD do just that, in my opinion). And one unverified quoted opinion (that the school had a liberal agenda). I'm ignoring other comments, as they're too stupid to rate.

And it all DOES come down to "Teacher was out of line, teacher got suspended, isnt that what is suppossed to happen?" Teacher was unquestionably unprofessional. Sadly, in my opinion teachers have been so frequently bad-mouthed and many schools have become so uncontrolled, that many of the teachers today are more "monitors", and good teachers aren't paid well and/or can't get jobs. Seniority has to go, and we need to be paying more attention to our education system. This is a prime example of some of what is wrong, but it has nothing to do with the "left wing" or politics or Obama.

Mike, it's easy to distinguish anyone else's posts from PN's; there are no gross, absurd graphics, photos, etc. ;o)

You know what's amusing to me about the righties' constant claims that those who get help from any of the government safety nets would happily continue doing so, etc., etc.? I'd bet dollars to donuts they don't KNOW any of those people, or know one or two they don't like or something. They make these grand statements...fed to them by their "leaders", without knowing even slightly what it's like to be someone dependent on government help. The saying is that we transfer our own worst aspects to those we dislike, in which case, their belief that everyone getting help from the government would do so indefinitely is a reflection of nothing but their OWN attitude! In other words, if THEY were being provided for by a safety net, THEY would happily take the money and run...which is funny as hell.

You've seen what happens when you try to end farm subsidies and oil company taxpayer kickbacks. No can do - the righties will not have it; they'll not let you cut off their suckling at the public tit.

And it's even worse if you try to cut spending on military spending, which is really the single biggest piece of the discretionary budget. Nope, can't cut that! Hell, it needs to be INCREASED, say the righties!

PN beat you to this very story. That's twice in about a week you and PN have started threads about the same stories.

I want a K-12 system that is unbiased. As it is now, it's 90% leaning left ALWAYS, and that's because that's where the "Teacher's Union" salary comes from.

I was dumb when I was taking an American Government class in community college and bought into a lot of my teacher's "facts". Since then, I've often thought of looking him up and beating the piss out of him for teaching NOTHING but his Teacher's Union Left wing bias as truth for a class that should have been taught un-biased.

BTW - this is the whole back and forth as available on youtube - no editing to highlight or ignore selected parts.

I feel sorry for the teacher, who btw, is obviously over-matched. It's obvious one student is able to disrupt and dominate her entire class. It's obvious this was a set-up by the student who recorded and posted his own antics. There is no overall discussion, no learning of the many, just a loudmouth pushing the envelope with an agenda. It's obvious the teacher is not able to address the situation quickly as she wants to do, and is flustered.

Now imagine if she hadn't resolved this disruption. I'm sure we'd be reading, or hearing, or watching, about how a student was able to dominate and disrupt as entire class. About a how student was able to escalate statements into outrageousness.

This actually doesn't seem to be about politics, but about a teacher who is trying to contain a situation and keep the student from escalating.

Heck, when you put it like that, it sounds like the tea-baggers shouting down speakers at the town hall meetings. Or at their precious little tea-bagger parties.

All the kid did was ask the question, of how Obama pushing a little girl is any different than Mitt's alleged hair cut incident. For those who actually watched/listened to the video, it wasn't a " set up ". All she had to do was be an adult and deal w/ the issue, but instead she flies off the handle and starts making ridiculous comments.

And the kid could have done a far better job, had he thought this through better, but hey, he's a kid. He should have brought up the fact that Obama himself spoke of bullying the little girl. Kinda hard for the teacher to deny that part of the story, but it's a minor criticism. The kid did pretty well.

Kiki, I listened carefully and I disagree to a degree. It could well have been a set-up by one kid who knew the teacher's feelings on the matter, I agree. But for one thing, we'd never have heard of it; doesn't make news unless, well, you know. But it wasn't just one student; you can hear all the voices in the background and the whole class was pretty much out of control, it seems to me. I would bet it's not the first time. They definitely know how to play her, no doubt about that. But if she'd simply answered the question, then she'd have been right in trying to stop them. Yes, she does keep trying to stop the situation, but screaming over and over about not dissing Presidents is the last thing that would do so. If she'd just stopped, calmed down, and explained the difference between the two and that Obama hadn't "bullied" the girl (which he never said he did), that would have put an end to it.

I still say, there are far too many teachers--especially in the inner cities--who are forced to spend their time controlling their classes rather than teaching, and I think it "creates" this kind of teacher, who reacts out of frustration too quickly and has lost a grasp on both how to deal with it and how to be calm and answer the question, then move on. JMHO.
