"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Quote:

NEW ORLEANS, La. – GOP vice-presidential nominee Paul Ryan got boos – as well as some applause — from the crowd at the AARP’s annual convention here Friday morning as he delivered an address in which he touted his plan to overhaul Medicare and harshly criticized President Obama, who addressed the seniors’ advocacy group via satellite ahead of Ryan.
He was loudly booed several times for pledging to repeal Obama’s signature health care law. But he received applause from the crowd when he spoke about his family and noted that his 78-year-old mother, Betty Douglas, was in the audience, just as she has been at other events where Ryan has focused on entitlement reform.
“You know President Obama’s slogan, right?” Ryan told the crowd of seniors gathered in a ballroom of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on Friday. “’Forward’ — forward into a future where seniors are denied the care they earned because a bureaucrat decided it wasn’t worth the money.”
“Lie!” one woman in the crowd yelled as others booed. “Liar!” yelled another.
The crowd was silent for most of Ryan’s speech and applauded him as he took and left the stage. But some attendees responded with loud disapproval of Ryan’s criticisms of Obama as well as during some of his descriptions of his own Medicare plan.
At one point, when Ryan told the ballroom that “all that we need now is leaders who have the political will to save and strengthen Social Security,” one man loudly quipped: “Got one!”
At other points in his speech, scattered attendees yelled out, “No vouchers!” and “Tax the one percent!”
Ryan’s address, much like Obama’s remarks via video earlier in the day, was both a sharp critique of the other side as well as a defense of the candidate’s plans for the future of the popular health care program for the elderly and the disabled.

I'm sure Mrs. Romney will be along shortly to chastise these chattering forty-seven-percenters and tell them to stop it...

I'm a senior and I don't? believe a word coming out of lying Ryan's mouth! Romney & Ryan are not telling seniors the truth. They may think most of us are old and dumb, but we didn't reach these golden years by letting crooked politicians pull the wool over our eyes. Most of us are smart enough to "fact check" what politicians are telling us these days. Please don't be fooled the these two. They are in the pockets of the rich and do not have your best interest at heart.
That about says it.

What IS that expression on his face?! I can't make it out...is it supposed to be a SMILE? Choey says it's a "grimace"...I guess that comes closest...very strange.

That look on his face is the look you see when someone is walking in the yard barefoot and steps right in a fresh pile of dog crap, and it's squeezing up between their toes, they're in it so deep. That's him realizing that he's being booed by the single most active group of voters in the country.

Problem is, Ryan was telling the truth.

Oh well.

About what? His marathon time? His admiration of Ayn Rand? His plan to kill Medicare?

Hey Kwix,

Not a surprise he was roundly booed, but didn't his running mate say that he would keep certain provisions of the Affordable Care Act that he liked. This, of course, after saying for months that he would "kill" the law and completely replace it.

What a douche! Did you see the look on his face when he was booed? Priceless!!!

Well, he *did* say that, but his campaign spokesman quickly rolled that back and insisted that he'd be rolling back the whole thing and keeping none of it. So, you know, more of the usual flip-floppery from Mittens.

Yeah, Republicans generally only boo the troops.

Humorous...I went back and watched it again and I'm still fascinated. I can't stand to watch him most of the time, so I wonder if it's always like this. His face at the end of EVERY SENTENCE moved back into that tight-lipped expression...even the few smiles were wrapped around it.

Is he like that every time he speaks anywhere? It's not very attractive in a candidate, in fact I would say the exact opposite...if I were even FOR him, I would find that expression off-putting; it's like he's some kind of stern teacher or something, grimacing at the end of every statement. Weird.

Was it some kind of punishment to send him to the AARP I wonder? Or just that "somebody's gotta do it" and he drew the short straw? Seems like a really strange thing to do--SURELY they knew what the reception would be, didn't they??
