Shindler’s List? Could you get more misleading? Why not mention that the writer/director is Dinesh D'Souza? He wrote "Ronald Reagan: How an Ordinary Man Became an Extraordinary Leader" and was once engaged to conservative writer/lawyer Ann Coulter. Probably broke-up because Coulter wasn’t extremist enough for him, although she wrote Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right.
www.imdb.com/name/nm1625338/bio?ref_=nm_ov_bio_sm

Why did JewelStaiteFan forget to mention that Dinesh D'Souza is an extremely well paid propagandist for the Republicans, simultaneously employed by many different Republican think tanks? D'Souza's version of his personal history and his version of history-history are not historically accurate.

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinesh_D'Souza are many interesting facts about the integrity of the writer/director of JewelStaiteFan's recommended movie:

In January 2014, D'Souza was indicted on charges of making illegal political contributions to a 2012 United States Senate campaign, a felony under U.S. law. On May 20, 2014, D'Souza pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York to a charge of using "straw donors" to make illegal political campaign donations. On September 23, D'Souza was sentenced to eight months in a halfway house near his home in San Diego, five years probation, and a $30,000 fine.

In an October 16, 2012, article in World Magazine, author Warren Cole Smith reported on D'Souza's activities after a September 28 talk that year in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Smith said that D'Souza, who was married at the time, checked into a hotel with another woman and left with her the following day. In his rebuttal, D'Souza said that he and his wife had separated. He confirmed that he had been engaged to Denise Odie Joseph – herself married to Louis Joseph. After an investigation by officials at King's College, D'Souza stated that he had suspended his engagement to Joseph.[3] Smith noted that D'Souza filed for divorce on the date of Smith's inquiry. D'Souza subsequently divorced Dixie Brubaker.[117][118][119]

After D'Souza's engagement became public, the trustees of the King's College announced after meeting on October 17, 2012, that D'Souza had resigned his position as president of the university in order "to attend to his personal and family needs".[120]

Probably about as factually accurate as Michael Bay's last movie.

That is an insult to Bay!

On the Metacritic scale of 1 to 100, this movie is a 6. Michael Bay has never made a movie that poorly rated. And Bay does not place himself as the focus of his movies, unlike D’Souza. It’s really all about D’Souza. Also, Bay is not a felon and Bay was never fired from a job at a Christian school for being a crooked-lying-cheating-bastard, unlike D'Souza.

TheWrap, Sam Adams, Jul 15, 2016

"Hillary’s America” isn’t designed to stand up to skepticism. It’s not intended to convince or to provoke thought, but to confirm the biases its intended audience already holds.

New York Post, Kyle Smith. Jul 15, 2016

Cheesier than a Kraft Singles truck but half as subtle, Dinesh D’Souza’s documentary Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party is an attack on all things Democratic whose many valid points get buried under bluster

Slant Magazine, Clayton Dillard, Jul 15, 2016

The film is an incoherent and aesthetically barren harangue masquerading as a revisionist history lesson.

Variety, Owen Gleiberman, Jul 15, 2016

"Hillary’s America” is a slow-motion seizure of ideological rancor, served up in the filmmaker’s trademark style of wide-eyed schoolbook infamy. The only novelty here is that there’s been a subtle shift of emphasis in the D’Souza vision. It’s now really all about him.

RogerEbert.com, Peter Sobczynski, Jul 15, 2016

Little more than an extended version of the kind of political screeds that can be found online with only a minimum of effort, this is just a terrible movie.

Don’t gloat. When Trump becomes President, (33.3% chance today versus the 50% chance of a coin flip) JewelStaiteFan will be insufferable toward anyone at fireflyfans.net with a different taste in movies. This propaganda movie is intended to influence the elections with the message that since Democrats are evil to their very core than all good Republicans must vote in November, even if Trump isn’t a good Republican.
http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-election-forecast/

With a 33.3% chance, this election is like playing Russian Roulette using a six-shooter loaded with two Trump brand bullets. I'm thankful it's not five or six bullets.

Hey EC, you have to explain what "factual" means to the uninitiated, their dictionary
are missing quite a few words.

While you're at it, include "accurate"

This film was far better than I expected.
It may be the best film I have seen this year, but i have not yet seen Midnight Special.

Well documented and woven into comprehensive progression, it also provides excellent references that even the most studious of history may have almost forgotten about. Only the greatest failures at historical interest or the most illiterate of history and fact would consider claiming that the many facts and truths shared in this work were anything but actual history. Libtards and other Democrats who watch this without covering their ears may likely find their heads exploding.

I find myself chagrined to be reminded that I had almost forgotten some of the excellent points in the tapestry.
I had forgotten the great contributions of fierce Republican Ida B. Wells. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ida_B._Wells
I had let lapse my recall of Carrie Buck. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrie_Buck
The forefront of my thoughts no longer included the accolades of the World's Greatest Fascists upon the Greatest Fascist (code for Democrat) of America, FDR.
The same applies to the First Assassination in American history of a Sitting Congressman (Anti-Slavery James Hinds, R-Ark, assassinated by Ku Klux Klan Democrat Official George Clark, of the Democrat Ku Klux Klan of Arkansas in 1968 - of course, shot in the back). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_M._Hinds
The film did also fairly point out the horrific actions of the Second Republican President in America.
But I don't know why the filmmakers pulled all of their punches regarding the Republicans passing the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

I do recommend it to anybody with a cerebrum, even if you think you can find a fact to dispute somewhere in it.
I look forward to hearing any so-called dispute of the truths shared in the film.
Recently it has been helpful to find here posters who are history-deniers and Democrat-delusionals which has refreshed my recall of history in convenient preparation for this viewing, and to help me understand how historical-illiterate so many here and in Hilliary's America have been, and insist on remaining.

Coda: After the end credits, an epilogue wrapping up a point from the body of the film.

I also forgot to mention that the relating of Democrat history was so well laid out, built upon well oriented foundations, simple enough that even a liberal or other Democrat could follow along - as long as your delusional pretend history does not blind you to facts and truth.

There is not a lot of action, and the only "plot holes" are the obvious failures of logic which pepper the history of the Democrat Party.

Many die-hard Democrat racists, founded in racism and immersed in racism, may find themselves resisting the facts because they are presented by free-thinking black intellectuals, who are either seemingly Republican or identify themselves as Republican.
S
The film also made clear that Slave Owners were Democrats, that Republicans did not own slaves, only Democrats owned Slaves.

It was apparently intended for a release around the July Fourth, and had a rousing sequence at the end. But as things turned out, with Hilliary's impending Anointing, it must have been delayed to coincide with the DNC/MSM Orgy.

I hope many of you enjoy this film, and you might also suggest it as helpful to students of history.

I forgot to compare this to 13 Hours. 13 Hours had more action, and was about current events, Hilliary's more recent scandals and failures - and is better in that limited scope. Her America has less action scenes, more historical background and the earlier portions of her schemes, scandals, and destruction of America. So it is a better film in that wider scope.

haven't seen the movie..don't need to regardless of my political bent.

but i'm popping in on this thread really out of the most honest of curiosity.

Please don't turn this into a Trump thing.. I'm asking this specifically about the nature of Brown Coats...when i first saw Firefly..it really hit home with me, the concept of a few folks of very different stripes, coming together , living out on the edge, pretty sparse lifestyle, but it was because they resented and wanted little part of those who would overlord, tell them how to think, etc...we all know the story.

so here we are pressed with Hillary..I swear she represents so many aspects of the very nature that BrownCoats seek to avoid...Wall street, pay to play with the Saudis and others, disdain for so many , constant lies and i honestly believe, there is blood on her hands....but I've already said too much, as this now will turn into a bash the forum guy for daring to attack she who would be queen...scarier even is the media and others who were determined to protect and promote her long before there was a Trump at the podium...
so please, and i sincerely mean this...in the spirit of Brown Coats...how could we trust, support, endorse, defend Clinton...cause the only thing I see coming out of this will be the need to put the coat back on in a few short years.

I agree with you, and one thing I had assumed about Browncoats was some amount of cameraderie about being under the thumb of the alliance, and thus leaning a bit more towards freedom, liberty, smaller government, etc. It can be a rude awakening when those who claim to be for these things are so blindly and adamantly against them such that they flock to the Racist party of Democrats(aka Alliance), founded upon slavery, built upon slavery and segregation, lynching and corruption, and avoid the Party of Freedom, Liberty, and Emancipation (aka Browncoats).

thank you for your reply...and yes, i will at some point.. DVD /itunes release will watch the movie..but no matter how illuminating it may be my mind has long been made up when it comes to the horror of a hillary presidency.

but given either candidate...my real curiosity, my real concern, is the hearts and minds of good folks...especially those that seem to have found something special in this little world of fireflies

and I get that the TV series was pushed out there at a time when there was a Bush in the Oval..but the series rings just as true with obama....and yet I've wondered if Joss would have created the stories during these last 8 years.

anyway...regardless of the outcome.. I do believe that there will soon come a day when good men and women...fathers/mothers, upstanding business folks, church going, loving, holding to moral standards of just plain decency...will be branded as bad guys..enemies of the state...and then come a day, harder for naughty folks like us to sneak about.

I do...not saying Joss wasn't correct in the motivation of his story telling during the Bush Admin..or even given the state of many world leaders at that time...again..not here to defend a Bush or a Trump...this goes far deeper than the figureheads in office at any given cycle...and i usually don't get into much political discussion on board..never seems to flow well from my brainpan through my keyboard...and responses can get out of hand..better to just enjoy the aspects of being a Firefly fan...it's just that all the campaign hype out there, kinda raises my brow on where the thinking is of our Browncoats.
I know we all hear different things..for me.. i hear hillary and my alarm bells are clanging..others hear Trump and they are ready to bang their heads against the cleat side of their gold shoes. anyway..think i'll just head over to Walmart and buy another copy of the firefly TV series DVD set..just to mess with the analytics of their buying system... and this is 'forum typing' so I may misunderstand..

but off the top of my head while I choke down some lunch at my desk..

one running theme with River...the concept of the Alliance looking to change our thinking, to make us "better" make us more compliant on one hand...culminated in his speech on serenity just after witnessing Miranda and prepping for the fight.

my work brings me into the state of NC..where the new mayor this year, faced with so many opportunities and challenges for the city...growth, commerce, law enforcement...her first real effort was to bipass the state legal system and impose a transgender bathroom "law". Now I'm an old guy, so I'm still trying to wrap my brain around how and why we want to base laws around how someone might be "feeling"...cause right now folks seem happy to support that one poor but enlightened soul who feels like...oh never mind..point is...do we then force restaurants to have a seperate dining solution so that folks with eating disorders don't have to sit where they can see other people eating mashed potatoes?? ..where does it stop when a powerful govt starts making laws for the exceptions?

how bout the episode "safe"..it looked like it was targeting those crazy church cult christian folks who in their primitive minds believed in witches, etc...my favorite lines btw are at the end of that one.. as Zoe and Mal are walking into town "what's that make us?.. Big Damn heros...ain't we just... " and yet today, those same backwards cultist exist but our govt is more concerned with enabling sharia law thinking while looking to continue to punish other religions

Heart of Gold - depicts a localized aristocratic ruler who abuses, leverages betrayal, and will kill those who defy...I could impose Hillary's face on the Ranch Burgess character with her (yes I believe) history of dealing with Bill's women issues, her own men issues (yes Chelsea certainy does look like ol Hubble)

I love my Firefly and could probably do this for each and every episode and the movie..not sure that folks would agree with my take on em...but in my eyes, it just seems that the overall flavor and theme of the series holds very true today..

I agree these obviously apply today, with Libtards running amok and emulating The Alliance of Domination. But I was asking about Bush-centric views. Sorry if I was unclear.

You finally did it. I ignored your Hillary's "constant lies and i honestly believe, there is blood on her hands....but I've already said too much, as this now will turn into a bash the forum guy for daring to attack she who would be queen..." I'm not ignoring this one:

Abraham Lincoln was the very essence of evil to slave-owners before he was inaugurated. He had to leave a train going to Washington DC for his swearing in ceremony to avoid Southerners who would stop it to assassinate him. And sore-losers did kill him. But enough time has passed that most people believe Lincoln was not the Hillary-monster that slave-owners claimed even thought a million died in a War to protect the Constitutional property rights of the Southern planter class. In their opinion that war was all Lincoln’s fault. Even many Northerners were opposed to Lincoln before the War. Was popular opinion correct in 1860 when Lincoln received only 38.9% of the popular vote, that he should not be President?

In 1864, 45% of the voters wanted Lincoln replaced, and that was after most, but not all, slave-owners were denied a vote and Lincoln had changed Vice Presidents to Andrew Johnson, who was against emancipation, the very opposite of what Lincoln is known for. Lincoln even changed the party name to "National Union Party" to get votes from War Democrats and Border State Unionists who would not vote for the "Republican Party". Lincoln was compromising with his opponents but it still did not make him popular. Did that make Lincoln wrong for those times? He was being called a murderer with blood on his hands by many Northerners who felt themselves to be vastly morally superior to the White House Ape, Abe Lincoln. Were they correct about Lincoln? Or was their judgment delusional, with no real understanding that the actual Lincoln was not a Hillary-monster? I forgot to mention that there is talk of assassinating Hillary, so she better not take a train to DC as per Lincoln.

but i'm popping in on this thread really out of the most honest of curiosity.

Please don't turn this into a Trump thing.. I'm asking this specifically about the nature of Brown Coats...when i first saw Firefly..it really hit home with me, the concept of a few folks of very different stripes, coming together , living out on the edge, pretty sparse lifestyle, but it was because they resented and wanted little part of those who would overlord, tell them how to think, etc...we all know the story.

so here we are pressed with Hillary..I swear she represents so many aspects of the very nature that BrownCoats seek to avoid...Wall street, pay to play with the Saudis and others, disdain for so many , constant lies and i honestly believe, there is blood on her hands....but I've already said too much, as this now will turn into a bash the forum guy for daring to attack she who would be queen...scarier even is the media and others who were determined to protect and promote her long before there was a Trump at the podium...
so please, and i sincerely mean this...in the spirit of Brown Coats...how could we trust, support, endorse, defend Clinton...cause the only thing I see coming out of this will be the need to put the coat back on in
a few short years.

Okay Old Guy, I have a few questions for you regarding your take on Firefly and how it relates to today's woes, politically speaking:

1- On religion, as you state: "looked like it was targeting those crazy church cult christian folks who in their primitive minds believed in witches, etc..."

Good point. The hypocrisy of religion and those who follow was, I believe,
part of "Safe's" message. But I'm not sure what Sharia Law is to make a further and intelligent comment. Their point, as I see it, was exactly that
they don't want to be told what to do by any religion. How to behave, what to wear, whether or not to have children. As Mal would say, "go about your business, as long as it don't affect me and mine." Freedom of choice, but always with the mind that Freedom of Religion is good as long as......etc.

From what I have read and learned over the years, the government wants to keep their hands to themselves - separation of church and state - but protect those don't believe as you or I. Freedom of the individual as well
as the group.

Case in point: A certain religion wants to tell people, in particular women,
whether they should have a baby or not. Millions of people believe this way.
But there are millions who don't. According to Firefly lore: the government
doesn't have the right to tell you, why should a religion have that right?

Mal to Book: "You are welcome here. God ain't."

So how is it that the government is "punishing" other religions? and, What is Sharia Law? Does the government favor one religion over another? Should a God-fearing Christian have the right to tell another how to live their life?
Should a Christian kill to defend their religious beliefs? Do you really believe, that in this country, Sharia Law could ever survive, much less
thrive?

HoG - Ranch Burgess appears to me to be more like the Big Blowhard Donald J. Drumpf. Aristocrat, bullshit artist, bully, woman-hater, arrogant piece of crap. But, that's just me.

For extra added bonus: The Alliance is more like the Repubs. Ya know, do
nothing and know nothing. You do know that our BDH are leaning a bit to the left, don't you? Subliminal messages aside, who owns all the media. Go ahead,
take a good look. I'll wait................

From one old guy to another.

one running theme with River...the concept of the Alliance looking to change our thinking, to make us "better" make us more compliant on one hand...culminated in his speech on serenity just after witnessing Miranda and prepping for the fight.

my work brings me into the state of NC..where the new mayor this year, faced with so many opportunities and challenges for the city...growth, commerce, law enforcement...her first real effort was to bipass the state legal system and impose a transgender bathroom "law".

What Would Mal do ?

hi All..and thanks for the replies..

i need to first off correct an error.. ibelieve it was Rance, not Ranch?

now...on to Second's post.. and again, I'm not sure i'm tracking with you so i ask all to be gentle if I'm not interpretting correctly or if i'm misunderstood.

i've long been disgusted with the current education system take-aways...ask any high school kid.."what did Lincoln do" "oh..he freed da slaves" The end.
it was a harsh time in our nation's history..and he did things i don't approve of for sure.. I'll not use this post to run through history...to neither defend nor attack him..that's another whole road.. i live down here in the south where folks still know who pushed the hand that fired the first shot.
Beyond that, I'm not sure what point you're making...Hillary is a horrible person..that's my opinion..doesn't make a right wing cook..just stating what I believe about her...moving on.

to your post Shineygoodguy...and thanks again... I'll not justify one religion..say christianity, over another...I am a conservative Christian..there..it's out (grin)..but I'm not telling folks how to think and live... with islam, they have a stated goal of imposing their religion as law..and with that comes a whole lot of behavior controls...that's the contemporary I'm speaking of.. but there's also another religion that has taken hold in our country..it's the religion of Political Correctness...if i think differently.. I'm all of a sudden a racist, or a homophobe, or a..oh heck, the list is too long and the terminology I'm allowed to not use is growing so fast i can't keep up. for example
If two guys or gals love each other..fine...give them equal protection under the law to share financials, property, be allowed to visit the hospital when one is sick,etc...but don't have the govt force another person to go against their beliefs in the process...and this current govt is only pressing christians...they don't dare tell a muslim faith to honor the rules of gaydom. now it sound slike i'm derailing the thread, and I don't want to go down any of these rabit holes...I'm saying there are very prominent issues in our society today that are showing up as street protests, or violent acts of murder and mayhem because i believe the current leadership is everything that the crew of Serenity was determined to move beyond, to rise above....anyway...let me freshen up the paint on the target on my back.. I'm 59, married to the same gal for 39 years, raise 4 wonderful kids who have families of their own. I work hard at a day job and work even harder at a small side business. I like my guns almost as much as i do my guitars. I have mixed race in my family, and if you saw photos of some of our kids weddings you'd see my daughter with her lifelong best friend and brides maid of honor who is black. My black neighbors knew who to call on when their home caught on fire and they found themselves at our dinner table. I'll stand to defend those in need and have multiple times provided my company's services for gay events, and while I'm not looking to have sex with them, i have several guys whom I'll openly tell them i love them, and we have done anything for each other that our families needed. I have managed to live life peacefully all this time but if pushed, you will find me with a bible in one hand and a gun in the other.. I'm happy to offer either one for those who come looking. As Mal would say "I'm a bad man" .. I recognize that..but I choose to do good...
I want ya'll to know, I really appreciate everyone on here...didn't plan to agree, hope I've not stirred the pot too much...enjoy that fact that this sight has been up for so long and has such depth.

Hey Old Guy,

First off let me say, I appreciate that you spoke your piece, straight up like a man. That is rare these days, so I just want you to know that. I'm at work so I can't take too much time right now, but I like how you expressed
yourself and gave an account of who you are. I thought I'll briefly do the same.

I don't like labels, so I'll just say that I'm mixed also. Born and raised in the good old USA. I believe in God but not the way most folks do. Since I was a boy I've always questioned why people behave like they do, especially those that go to church. This has been in me and nothing to do with my upbringing. My mom and grandma were my biggest influences. Hate bullies, hypocrites and arrogant people. Love freedom, a good woman and kids. They should be protected no matter what.

I feel that people should be straight up with each other, and that we all bleed red so we shouldn't feel superior to another because of skin color.
That's just wrong. Everyone has a right to be heard, oh and I believe in
the freedoms we were promised in the Constitution. Common sense is key, as is respect.

That's just my short list.........ha! The rest we'll learn as we go along.
Welcome.

I am sorry you have been assaulted by others recently, as you had stated you would have avoided. But I had hoped you would have responded to this before others hijacked this thread in the way you had stated you did not wish to go.
I hope you have recuperated enough to reply now.

I also forgot to mention the reportage of Davy Crockett, revered anti-Democrat because he was anti-slavery and opposed to Indian Removal, both Jackson and Democrat hallmarks. In the 1830 Crockett was a Representative in the House with the National Republican party, over 2 decades before the Republican Party which defeated Slavery by Democrats and the Democrat Party Slave Owners.

There is so much history and historical fact that is dismissed or denied by today's Democrats ashamed of their racist past (and how their racist continues today), so it is good to be reminded of the many righteous people in our gloried history, which would be the Republicans, or those who oppose the Democrats and their Slavery disciples, their Indian-removal practices and policies.
