I haven't been paying attention to movies for a while. Didn't even realize this one's been out for 2 weekends already.

Bruce has not put a production budget up for it yet, which is EXTREMELY odd for a blockbuster type movie. Paramount is in its death throes though, so it's not surprising.

Supposedly Screen Rant "confirmed" that the budget was $75 Million, but I'm calling pure bullshit on that figure. Not a chance it was that cheap. Wikipedia lists the budget as anywhere from $75 Million to $147 Million. Pretty sure Bruce is making the smart play here and not putting anything up until there's a serious number admitted to.

That being said...

10 days in the theater already and it's only made $62 Million worldwide.

Whatever the budget is in that range, it's a 100% loser no matter what. 2 weekends and it hasn't even made the production budget back. It made $24 Million in the states on opening weekend and only made $9.3 Million on the second weekend for a 3rd place finish. Even if the $75 Million figure were true, which it's not, it still needs $125.5 Million to break even.

One more nail in Paramount's coffin.

How could this cartoon cost $75 M? It is poor level animation, like Saturday morning TV level. Almost as bad as Fly Me To The Moon.
Clearly, cartoons need to stop pretending they are film.

Maybe Roger Rabbit or Enchanted, but that is about it.

Is it really a cartoon, or are you just making fun of CGI?

I care so little that I wouldn't have even known it was a cartoon.

Are there supposed to be people in it? like actors?
Look at the posters or trailer - the whole film is like that. If the cartoon is made by computer, what difference does it make?

CGI isn't AI. It would still be people making it.

I haven't watched anything about it at all.

To my knowledge, every Transformers flick up to this point did have actors in it. The last Transformers movie I watched was the 2nd one. Maybe this one was just a cartoon.

Every prior transformers film had actors in it. And the transformers were made to look like actual solid objects, a folded up car, truck, helicopter, jet, etc.
This is just cartoon.

Terrible.

It's still $328k short of making the production budget back after 14 days and now it's already on streaming. Huge loss here.

They might as well just throw it on streaming now though. Its already sputtered out and died. The fact that it's streaming isn't going to hurt it at all at this point.

Well, that's a lie.

Have you not seen all the Star Wars toys rotting for years on the shelves at Ollies along with the Marvel toys?

They still have Shang Chi action figures at Ollies that they can't sell marked down to $1.99 each sitting on shelves opposite Star Wars toys that came out when the first Disney Star Wars movie was in theaters.

It's a bad time to try to sell boring action figure toys to kids when they walk around with phones in their pockets that double as game consoles in the first place, but no kid wants to play with these stupid Disney characters.

Transformers might have a better go at it, but they'd better move a ton of them to make up for the huge loss here on the movie. And since Transformers have been sold for over 40 years now, I don't even really know how much you could attribute to this movie that not a whole lot of people went to see. I'm sure they'll figure out how to make it look good to please the pissed off investors though.

it would be interesting to see how profits get shared and how much toy companies making Transformers stuff actually make back as cash profits. The movie is a number of studuios, Paramount Animation US, Hasbro Entertainment which usually do Toys and Di Bonaventura Pictures. It looks as if Toy sales are shared with American toy company Hasbro and Japanese toy company Takara Tomy. The Live Action Transformers movies were mostly a Michael Bay explosion entertainment thing.

anyways it looks like it had $8,000,000 in China

Yeah. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the Hollywood accounting department.

We're never going to find out any of that info. That info is reserved for Ivy League suits and board members.

From February of this year:

Hasbro reports 20% revenue drop, issues downbeat 2024 outlook

https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2024/02/13/hasbro-has-earnings-q4-2023.html

Quote:

KEY POINTS

- Toy company Hasbro reported a more than 20% hit to its fourth-quarter revenue and issued a downbeat 2024 forecast Tuesday morning.

- For the last three months of 2023, Hasbro lost $1.06 billion, or $7.64 per share, drastically wider than the year-ago losses.

- The company now expects to cut $750 million in costs by the end of 2025.

All I'm reading about is losses here. So when somebody makes the claim that Disney made over a billion on Star Wars toys I'd ask them for proof before believing any of that nonsense. It may have even been true that in the beginning Disney was seeing profits off the franchise. It still had decades of goodwill behind it. But they can't just make the claim they made money on it with the early profits but not account for years and years now of quarterly losses.

Star Wars merchandising for decades before Disney bought up the rights was a money printing machine. I can't imagine the suits at Hasbro were very happy about these results and were probably pretty blindsided by them. I'm sure going into it with the news that all sorts of new Star Wars movies and shows were going to be made they all had dollar signs in their eyes.

To make matters worse, DEI initiatives were put in place so that EVERY CHARACTER GOT THE SAME AMOUNT OF FIGURES MADE. This is why you can still find Rose Tico toys out in the wild for a movie that was released in 2017. And on Marvel's end, you never see any Spider-Man toys on the shelves for very long, but there is still TONS of unsellable Shang Chi, Eternals and Black Panther plastic sitting on shelves at steep discounts that they can't move.

They're going to have to open up that pit where Atari put millions of copies of unpurchased ET and Pac-Man games to dump all this crap.

More microplastics in our lungs and all for naught.

So did this film Transformers One flop?

the online account on X aka twitter 'HollywoodHandle' twitter said 75 million

Its still making money I'm not sure if its out overseas such as beyond Europe, China yet those are big markets not sure any other can save it. There are conflicting budget reports, some say as low as $75 and also they are claiming they can make money back on merchandise, toys etc It will probably knock down Joker 2

$112,549,616 worldwide after 28 days when it needs $187.5 Million to break even.

Not going to come close to that when it's only banking $200k on Thursday.

They're going to have to sell a lot of toys.
