I'll try to be non spoilery.

Decent flick, with a far better story than was offered in the '98 version ( I never bothered w/ seeing Godzilla 2000 )

There were some minor logistical issues I had w/ the story, but again, a VAST improvement from the ridiculousness of the '98 movie. And by this, I mean travel time from one area to another, and 'real time' stuff.

My biggest issue ? He's freaking fat! I mean, I like the big guy, but why cast Peter Griffin in that role ? It's absurd. I was able to over come it though, by telling my self that he's just retaining water, as a result of hibernation or what ever, and ( hopefully if there were any sequels ) we'll see a leaner, meaner, and more athletic Godzilla.

And now...

Select to view spoiler:

The story is a bit vague as to how and why Godzilla shows up in the first place. Such giant creatures lived in long ago times, and then some how descended to the depths of the oceans or under ground to feed off of the natural radiation which is what they thrive on. So Godzilla is awoken , and we try and kill it, but apparently we stop nuking the hell out of the s. pacific, and hear no more of Godzilla. A surviving egg from the MUTO ( Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism ) hatches, and moves the surface, in search of more radiation. Apparently the actions of the initial MUTO get picked up by Godzilla, who is in hibernation or some such. Godzilla is a predator to such things as the MUTO, and is naturally drawn to kill such creatures. OK. I can buy that.

But why is Godzilla so freaking fat ? For a film which promotes letting nature take its course, and balance in nature , etc... why ignore nature's lead w/ a chubby lizard ?

There ARE no such critters, anywhere. Crocs aren't fat. Dinosaurs weren't fat. Hell, even whales and elephants aren't all that " fat ". Maybe bears, going INTO hibernation, can get all thick, but they come out generally on the lean side, if not down right scrawny looking .I do hope they reconsider slimming Godzilla down in the next film. If there is one.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

It's gonna have at least two sequels, but I'm not interested. This one was a big yawn-fest.

Nothing really new, but I did like how the story was told.

Just a wild side note, but with Cloverfield, Pacific Rim, and now Godzilla, I wonder if there's any chance of some sort of a classic battle between 2 or more of those monsters.

Pacific Rim and Godzilla are from the same studio (Warner Bros) and production company (Legendary), so that is a possibility. Cloverfield was from Paramount though, so not likely to crossover with the others.

Well, at least there's one source of kaiju , if they feel the need to go there.
