Boomers that set themselves up right don't notice how bad things are. Neither do people who managed to stay employed at good jobs through the last 12 or so years. Most other folk have been screwed in the rear and continue to be, despite whatever crazy numbers the DOW is seeing. Especially those of us without college degrees. Do Right, Be Right. :)

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

The problem back then was that people weren't looking (intentionally blinded themselves to) negative fundamentals that weren't so rosy - such as the fact that the shiniest economic area was the housing bubble, fueled by bad mortgages and widespread, unsupportable debt, along with risky investment bank products and too big to fail institutions. For many of the positive factors you list, I have a 'yes-but' negative. I don't have the time to go through them now, but with any luck, I can get back to this later for a more detailed discussion.

After posting this, I heard a MSM Fake News report about the Markets. MSM reported the Dow was down for the week. After garnering the 6th highest Dow Close in the entire history, MSM reported that the Dow was down. At the end of a week where every single day of the week had a Close in the top 6 Closes in history, MSM reports that the Dow was down. In a month when every single Close of the month is in the top 25 Closes in the entire history, MSM reports it is down. I don't recall any other time in history when this could be said. Even October 2007 was not this spectacular. Even January 2018 was not. Nor September or October 2018. Certainly no time in 2000 or 2001. When the most spectacular High points in all of history are achieved, MSM reports that it is down. At the end of a week which featured the 2 highest Closes in the entire history, MSM's take is that the Dow was down. Now, of course, the report was factually accurate - the Down Closed on Friday lower than it closed on the prior Friday. But how can any sensible, reasonable, critical thinking person possibly conjure that MSM has a clue about the Real World, or is not intentionally lying all the time, or that it is a valid source of information?
