Just yesterday, Russia threatened to destroy SpaceX satellites because Ukraine was connected to those satellites. Just before Russia invaded Ukraine, Russia demonstrated how it could destroy SpaceX satellites or anybody who displeased Putin. Perhaps a stern warning from the UN would work better than nukes, but I'm unsure if Putin reads warning labels before he acts. Some forms of communication that don't use words work far better with people, such as Putin, who don't understand written words. Possibly Putin has a severe learning disorder.

What was said, without the spin ....

Quote:

...during a United Nations working group meeting on reducing space threats last week. Konstantin Vorontsov, a member of the Russian delegation, said that the country "would like to underline an extremely dangerous trend that goes beyond the harmless use of outer space technologies and has become apparent during the events in Ukraine. Namely, the United States and its allies use the elements of civilian, including commercial, infrastructure in outer space for military purposes."

Received the second shipment of Starlink stations! @elonmusk keeps his word! Thank you for supporting Ukraine and peace in the entire world! @OMarkarova thanks! pic.twitter.com/hNZwsXkOCT
— Mykhailo Fedorov (@FedorovMykhailo) March 9, 2022

Vorontsov never mentioned Starlink by name, but there was no doubting what he was referring to. The Russian Foreign Ministry member and head of the country's UN Office for Disarmament Affairs delegation added a warning: "It seems like our colleagues do not realize that such actions in fact constitute indirect involvement in military conflicts. Quasi-civilian infrastructure may become a legitimate target for retaliation."

"At the very least, this provocative use of civilian satellites is questionable under the Outer Space Treaty, which provides for the exclusively peaceful use of outer space, and must be strongly condemned by the international community," Vorontsov added

Because I'm sure a sternly-worded UN warning to the USA will make it adhere to the treaties it signed.

Putin Blasts West's Nuclear Narrative: "It Doesn't Make Sense" To Use Nukes In Ukraine
Importantly, he rejected head-on the allegations from the West that he ever so much as hinted at plans to deploy nukes in Ukraine, describing a nuclear strike in the context of the "special operation" to be ultimately pointless. "We see no need for that," Putin said. "There is no point in that, neither political, nor military." He underscored, "it doesn't make sense for us to do it.

He went on to emphasize that Russia had "never said anything proactively about the possible use of nuclear weapons by Russia." At the same time he lashed out at Washington, for being the "only country in the world that has used nuclear weapons against a non-nuclear state" - in reference to WWII and the bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

He specifically referenced prior statements of Liz Truss and vague references to his saying he's willing to defend Russia "by all means available" as having been intentionally misinterpreted and distorted:

Putin said an earlier warning of his readiness to use “all means available to protect Russia” didn’t amount to nuclear saber-rattling but was merely a response to Western statements about their possible use of nuclear weapons.

He particularly mentioned Liz Truss saying in August that she would be ready to use nuclear weapons if she became Britain's prime minister, a remark which he said worried the Kremlin.

“What were we supposed to think?” Putin said. “We saw that as a coordinated position, an attempt to blackmail us.”

Literally as Putin was speaking, the Pentagon decided it was a good time to unveil a stunning nuclear strategy reversal, saying it would no longer rule out use of nuclear weapons against a non-nuclear threat.

Putin has the human wave and NATO doesn't, but Putin’s reliance on human wave tactics is a catastrophe for Russia’s working-age men.

In its determination to capture Bakhmut, the Kremlin is ‘driving people to their deaths’, treating them like ‘single-use soldiers’.

The Soviet Red Army did have successes with the human wave tactics, using them in sheer desperation as they sought to cling on in the early days of the Battle of Stalingrad. Sometimes it was for lack of equipment, but the Red Army also made use of press-ganged civilians and penal battalions.

More broadly, the Red Army’s victorious strategy was predicated on always having more soldiers to send into the meat grinder, millions of men that the German army simply could not match.

There are, though, two key differences between now and the 1940s. One, the Russian effort is almost entirely futile.

As the Institute for the Study of War described it last week, Moscow’s forces “are likely falsifying claims of advances in the Bakhmut area to portray themselves as making gains in at least one sector”.

The attack, which has been underway since May, would likely be a waste of time and men even if it did succeed. Taking Bakhmut would open the road to Slovyansk, but with the other arm of the pincer snapped off by Ukraine’s recapturing of Izyum, there would be little chance of Slovyansk falling.

The second is demographics. Where human wave attacks have previously been used – the Soviets at Stalingrad, China in the Korean War, Iran against Iraq, and Ethiopia in its war with Eritrea – booming demographics and widespread poverty meant that human life was cheap while materiel was expensive.

Russia is not in that position. Its population, especially of working age, is contracting sharply, made worse by a mass exodus due to the war. Every man killed is a catastrophe for Russian society, let alone its faltering army.

It is Kiev, not Russia, using "human waves". Bc Kiev doesn't have air superiority, artillery, missiles and hardly any tanks they have to rely on what they DO have: cannon fodder. Kiev is losing approx 5-8 soldiers for every one of Russia's.

What is missing from MOST frontline encunters? Russian infantry. The only two places that I know of where there were significant infantry encounters were Mariupol and (now) Bakhmut, and those relie(d) heavily on Chechens, LDNR, and the Wagner Group, with Russian standoff weapon support.

Yanno, you both should be jolted into reality with the understanding that the only reason why the USA needs to "go nuclear" is because it's the ONLY weapon that is near-parity to Russia's.

The fact that the PENTAGON was ready "go nuclear" BEFORE Russia invaded Ukraine should have told you that THEY knew that they were insufficient. Specifically, there was no defense against Russia's newest weapons (cruise and hypersonic missiles) and not enough economic or military depth to support a prolonged conventional war. And since every other approach failed, they finally had to use their trump card: attack our troops and we will risk nuclear WWIII.

You really CANT handle the truth, can you? Your whole mental world would crumble, wouldnt it?
That's pathetic.

That's my estimate, based on what I've heard from various sources, including Kiev.

It stands to reason that Kiev would be losing more soldiers. When they go on the offensive, like they're trying in Kherson, their units come under extremely heavy long distance fire. And when Russia goes on the offensive, they "soften up" Kiev trenches and other fortifications with heavy bombardment first. It's just well known by everyone, including Kiev, that Russia has superior standoff weapons and Kiev has very few, which is why Kiev is always begging for more and better (including air defenses)

Following what's been happening, it seems Russia is using this invasion to try out various weapons including suicide drones, artillery, air-launched hypersonic missiles (which is probably what the Pentagon is shitting about) etc

They have more Russian tanks that Russia does.

And they have something even greater that Russia will never have: they're fighting for their own land against an untrained, unmotivated army. Those army Ruskies would rather scrounge for toilets and go home.

Then why would Putin call up 300,000 more troops if that was true? If you have the superior numbers you say, why not just hold tight and let them die in waves and declare victory?

I don't think I've ever encountered someone as delusional and clearly wrong as you are. Why keep at it? Does it hurt that much to see Russia flop so completely? What do they have to lose if they just declare victory, go home and open their roadside gas station of a country back up? How fast was this suppose to be over? 1 month? Where are we at now - 8, 9? I suppose they're stretching out the time it takes to defeat Ukraine so more of their soldiers can die...

No, I didn't just "make it up".

About two months ago, a major British publication (I forget which, it may have been The Guardian) tried to estimate actual Russian deaths from funerals and cemetaries. The numer, as I recall, was about 6,000-8,000. That's about what Sergei Shoigu reported recently (almost 6000 deaths) That probably includes Chechens who do report to the Russian MoD, but not DPR or LPR militia which (until recently) were not part of the Russian fighting force. I'm sure that also doesn't include the Wagner Group (which is reportedy only about 10,000 so even if 50% KIA wouldn't bump up the total to the astronomic values "reported" by Kiev.)

Kiev's reports of Russian KIA are all over the map. So trash anything that refers to sources in Kiev because we have no idea HOW they come up with those numbers and why they vary so wildly.

Meanwhile, Kiev's estimates of it's own dead per day are also all over the map, and range from 100-600, depending on whether the narrative is "We're winning, so give us more" or "We're losing, so give us more".

But some intrepid western reporters who have gone to the front line report units under strength at only 20-50%. Russian reports estimate a pretty consistent 200 Ukrainians KIA per day lately (unless there is an offensive, then the numbers bump up) which is closer to Kiev's lower range. So even if those rates have held for only the last 4 months of the war that comes up to 24,000 KIA. Add maybe half that to account for the first three months of the war is 36,000 KIA. 36,000 v 6000. That's 6:1.

Quote:

In the Donbas region Russia is estimated to be firing 40,000–60,000 152mm shells per day. This compares to about 6,000 155mm shells per day being used by Ukraine.
Just on that basis alone, that's 6-10:1. Even if Russians were just terrible shots compared to Ukies, they would still have a numeric advantage.

Nobody is being truthful, so it's hard to say what the number is, but it makes MILITARY sense that Kiev, with its inferior weaponry and reliance on infantry, would be losing more soldiers ... a LOT more soldiers... than Russia.

Which is why Kiev resorted to assassination and sabotage, and hoped to play "false flag" with a dirty bomb.

And which is why the PENTAGON just pulled out the nuclear trump card.

Accusing Someone You Disagree With Of Being A Russian Troll Is Admitting You Have No Argument
Originally posted by SIGNYM:
Quote:

I shouldn’t have to write this article. And yet, here we are...

I don’t care who you are or how much Palmer Report you read: accusing someone who disagrees with you of conducting psyops for a foreign government is never, ever a normal or acceptable way of conducting political discourse.

I tweeted the above yesterday after noticing another uptick in the bizarre habit establishment loyalists

You know who you are...
Quote:

have of labeling anyone who disagrees with them as Russian trolls. And, though I didn’t address it to her and made no mention of her, Louise Mensch took it personally.

This led to a deluge of fascinating interactions with Mensch’s followers, in which I was sincerely informed that Twitter has admitted to half of its users being Russian agents, though it is likely more. I was also called a Russian agent many, many times, because saying it’s not okay to accuse a stranger you disagree with of being a Russian agent is just the sort of thing a Russian agent would say.

Well, let me start off this weird, stupid article that I shouldn’t have to write by saying that I myself am not a Russian agent. I’ve never been to Russia, I have no ties to the Russian government, I rarely use sources in my articles that have ties to Russia, and to the best of my knowledge none of my patrons are Russian. I say this not because I feel a need to defend these foam-brained accusations but to point out that it is, in fact, very possible to disagree with the establishment Russia narrative without being incentivized to in rubles.

Political discourse between establishment loyalists and everyone else has been trampled to death by the gratuitous use of this obnoxious debate-avoiding tactic.

As well as shitting a gif into a thread before bailing. That's another tactic used frequently in these parts
Quote:

Everyone who publicly questions the MSNBC Russia narrative will be met with these accusations. Everyone who speaks about it with much of an online following will receive these accusations on a daily basis.

This is not normal.

And neither are the people who make these accusations
Quote:

Anti-Trumpists have been trained over the last year by people like Rachel Maddow, Louise Mensch, and the Palmer Report to believe that accusing everyone who disagrees with you of being a Russian agent is a normal thing that sane people do, but they are wrong. It is a bizarre, obnoxious tactic, and when you use it, you are admitting that you have no argument.

The accusation would not be baseless. You should remind yourself what the USIC's official report said on the matter of Russian interference. — Louise Mensch (@LouiseMensch) November 27, 2017

Yes it would indeed be a baseless accusation, @LouiseMensch. You do not know who is and is not a Kremlin agent, and the odds that you are interacting with one are rare. If you have to resort to baseless accusations of Russian espionage, you are admitting you have no argument. — Caitlin Johnstone (@caitoz) November 27, 2017

In the unlikely event that any Louise Mensch types are still reading at this point, let me explain how normal online discourse operates:

Party A presents a position on an issue.

Party B presents a rebuttal to the position, often supplemented with links substantiating their claim.

Party A returns with their own counter-argument and their own substantiations.

Repeat this back-and-forth for as long as both parties remain interested.

The civility with which this discourse takes place varies wildly, and it can leave both parties feeling like they wasted an hour or two of their lives talking to a brick wall. But it can also be very informative to people watching, it can often lead to one party realizing that their argument isn’t nearly as strong as their partisan echo chamber had led them to believe it was, and it can cause both parties to do more research and rigorous thinking as they strive to come up with a compelling case.

Or failing that, they can shit a gif
Quote:

It can even lead to someone realizing that they don’t know nearly as much about a given issue as they thought they did and privately questioning their previous assumptions.

Conversations like this are socially enriching and lead to a more intelligent and better-informed humanity.

Compare that to:

Party A presents a position on an issue.

Party B accuses party A of conducting psyops for a foreign government.

Discussion ends.

These accusations always kill dialogue. And they are meant to. It is a safe way of slamming the door on ideas which make the person who uses this tactic uncomfortable.

There is no legitimate reason to ever accuse a stranger you disagree with of being a Russian agent. Firstly, you cannot possibly know that the stranger you’re dialoguing with works for the Kremlin. Secondly, even in the highly unlikely event that the person you are speaking to really is a secret Russian agent, you should still be able to out-debate them.

Kremlin trolls don’t have magical powers. They can’t hypnotize you. If you’re interacting with one they’ll be advancing arguments and ideas just like anyone else, and if your arguments and ideas are defensible you should be able to defend them clearly and articulately.

A related accusation is conceding that while it is possible that the individual you are speaking to may not be a paid Kremlin operative, they are at the very least a “useful idiot” who has been brainwashed by Russian propaganda and is unknowingly advancing pernicious ideas. This is also an admission that you have no argument. You’re shutting down dialogue instead of debating your position articulately. You’re also making a fallacious case which assumes from the beginning that nobody could possibly disagree with your omniscient, infallible worldview unless they were deceived by a malevolent party. [But] If your position is defensible, defend it like a normal human being.

I’ve had some success with simply drawing attention to the fact that the person levelling these accusations is using a tactic that is not a normal or acceptable part of political discourse. Individuals with a bit of personal insight

Which excludes MANY people in this form
Quote:

can get pretty embarrassed when you calmly point out that they’re doing something they know deep down is really weird and unhealthy, so they’ll back away from it once you bring a little self-awareness to their McCarthyite chicken dance. I recommend my readers try it if you ever run into this tactic yourselves.

* * *

Bottom line: when a stranger on the internet accuses you of being a Kremlin agent, of being a “useful idiot”, of “regurgitating Kremlin talking points”, this is simply their way of informing you that they have no argument for the actual thing that you are saying. If you’re using hard facts to point out the gaping plot holes in the Russiagate narrative, for example, and all they can do is call your argument Russian propaganda, this means that they have no counter-argument for the hard facts that you are presenting. They are deliberately shutting down the possibility of any dialogue with you because the cognitive dissonance you are causing them is making them uncomfortable.

Yes, paid shills for governments all over the world do indeed exist. But the odds are much greater that the stranger you are interacting with online is simply a normal person who isn’t convinced by the arguments that have been presented by the position you espouse. If your position is defensible you should be able to argue for it normally, regardless of whom you are speaking to.

Yes, propaganda exists. But what is propaganda other than arguments and ideas? It isn’t witchcraft or wizardry. It isn’t going to melt your face like that scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark; you can engage it rationally without plugging your fingers in your ears and screaming “propaganda!”

Except several people here, who insist on doing exactly that
Quote:

In the event that the ideas you are debating against online are indeed the product of government deception, you should be able to debunk them using truth and rationality. If there are lies, point them out using truth and facts. If there are half-truths, bring in the other half of the equation. If there are bad arguments relying on bad thinking, refute them with good arguments and good thinking. The methods of refuting propaganda are the same as the methods of refuting anything else, so it’s stupid to act like plugging your fingers in your ears and screaming “propaganda” is a legitimate tactic.

If “propaganda” can’t be refuted using legitimate debate methods, then what you are calling propaganda looks an awful lot like truth.

I fight what I consider to be establishment propaganda for a living, but if all I ever did was type “that’s propaganda!” over and over again, nobody would ever read my articles. I have to make a compelling case for what actual disinformation is being presented and present clear arguments for why I think they are wrong. The same is true for everyone, even if they believe their position is supported by 17 intelligence agencies and the infinite wisdom of the Palmer Report.

By the way, the U.S. would never use nuclear weapons first against a country that had signed, and was in compliance with, the Non-Proliferation Treaty. This would still make first-use possible against Russia, China, or North Korea. It also provided some incentive for other adversaries not to go nuclear.

The Russian Federation alone decided to block consensus on a final document at the conclusion of the Tenth Review Conference of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Russia did so in order to block language that merely acknowledged the grave radiological risk at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine.

If Russia blows up Zaporizhzhia, the Pentagon could nuke a power plant close to Moscow. That is how it goes, Signym, despite your continuously misunderstanding excruciatingly simple concepts.

Accusing Someone You Disagree With Of Being A Russian Troll Is Admitting You Have No Argument

Putin’s Play for the Western Right

At his annual conference with foreign international-affairs experts, Vladimir Putin ranted about cancel culture and gay-pride parades. He’s trying to unite the global right.

For nearly two decades, Russian President Vladimir Putin has held an annual event called the Valdai Discussion Club, named for the picturesque lake in Russia near where the first meeting took place in 2004. The star of the show, however, is always Putin, who gives a speech and then sits for questions.

This year, Putin tailored his message to appeal to right-wing forces in the United States and Europe. The Russian president has been pursuing his own version of “Unite the Right” for some time now, but at Valdai, he didn’t even bother with the pretense of speaking to diplomats and public intellectuals. Instead, he baited Westerners into arguing with one another about the culture wars instead of opposing his criminal war in Ukraine.

It’s not hard to spot the raw meat in his speech. “If the Western elites believe they can have their people and their societies embrace what I believe are strange and trendy ideas, like dozens of genders or gay-pride parades, so be it. Let them do as they please,” he fumed. “But they certainly have no right to tell others to follow in their steps.” Putin has been attacking gay and trans people in speeches for a while, but reprising his homophobic complaints at a place like Valdai is an indication that Putin is aiming for Western televisions, not an audience of international-affairs experts.

There was, of course, the usual Soviet-era hangover in Putin’s discussions with the audience, including how the “so-called West” is seeking global superiority over the rest of the world. (To add “so-called” is a way of indicating that he is really speaking mostly of the decadent United States and its friends.) But Putin returned to the themes he no doubt hopes will show up in the Western media, including “cancel culture”—which is not exactly a source of anxiety in wartime Russia these days, but is of great interest to Western rightists:
Quote:

And what is happening now? At one time, the Nazis reached the point of burning books, and now the Western “guardians of liberalism and progress” have reached the point of banning Dostoyevsky and Tchaikovsky. The so-called “cancel culture” and in reality—as we said many times—the real cancellation of culture is eradicating everything that is alive and creative and stifles free thought in all areas, be it economics, politics, or culture.
The mention of Dostoyevsky might be a reference to one Italian university that canceled and reinstated a course on the Russian author. And it’s true that while Putin’s forces are engaged in mass murder in Ukraine, some American orchestras have become skittish about playing the “1812 Overture,” which is a celebration of a Russian military victory. (The Boston Pops play it every summer at Tanglewood and on the Esplanade; this year, they decided to add the Ukrainian national anthem just before it.) This is not “canceling” Russian culture, and Putin knows it—but the accusation makes great material for Putin’s useful idiots outside of Russia.

And, of course, Putin exhibited his classic chutzpah, the insulting audacity the Russians would call naglost. “I am convinced that real democracy in a multipolar world,” Putin said, “is primarily about the ability of any nation—I emphasize—any society or any civilization to follow its own path and organize its own sociopolitical system.” The Soviets used to say this too, but it’s especially galling to hear it as Russian forces continue their quest to erase an entire nation.

There was much more, but for Americans, the most important point is that among the many ways Putin intends to pursue this disastrous war in Ukraine, he is staking at least some of his hopes on undermining unity in the United States and Europe. It’s not a bad bet; the Republicans appear poised to retake the House in November, and the putative speaker, Kevin McCarthy, has already had to walk back a gaffe in which he admitted that support for Ukraine might weaken (which I think is likely) once the GOP gets control.

Putin would much rather have us arguing over gay rights than over how many more artillery systems to send to Ukraine. His comments at Valdai might seem like hyperventilation, Soviet-era blather, or even just plain silliness, but he knows what he’s doing. It’s up to us to make sure his culture-war-propaganda gambit doesn’t work.

I hear the same predictions (Democrats and Ukraine will be destroyed) from all the angry poor white trash I know in Texas. Some are my second cousins because all my first cousins are dead from excessive smoking. The Republicans took control of the government of Texas decades ago, but the Texas Trumptards are enraged that they still struggle, and often fail, to remain in the middle class. It has got to be Nancy Pelosi's fault! It could NEVER be their fault for getting fired, going bankrupt, being arrested for drunk driving, liver failure, and getting kicked out of the house by the wife who is filing for divorce. It is ALWAYS the Democrats' fault. Parenthetically, Trumptards do have a problem with drinking, gluttony, adultery, accidentally firing guns inside their own homes, income tax evasion, etc. but the Democrats and Ukraine are to blame, not the Trumptards.

Putin's plan to completely surround Russia with NATO countries is on schedule!

October 29, 2022 11:31 am

Finland and Sweden agreed to join NATO at the same time, their prime ministers said after talks in Helsinki on Friday, as the two countries await final approval from Turkey.

“For us it’s very important that Finland and Sweden will join NATO simultaneously,” said Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin alongside her new Swedish counterpart, Ulf Kristersson, who took office earlier this month.

Hungary and Turkey are the only countries yet to ratify Finland and Sweden’s accession to the security alliance, a process that kicked off following Russia’s war on Ukraine.

While Budapest has said it should formally approve the bids by the end of the year, Turkey is yet to move. In June, Turkey, Finland and Sweden signed a deal aimed at resolving Turkish concerns centered around both countries’ alleged support for Kurdish organizations.

Marin said Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told her during a recent summit of leaders in Prague that there were still some outstanding questions for Sweden, but insisted that the Finnish government would not confirm its own NATO membership first.

“It’s very important that we are working together and both countries are making sure that Turkey can ratify our membership as soon as possible,” said Marin.

Swedish outlet Aftonbladet has reported that Kristersson is poised to meet Erdogan on November 8 in Ankara with the aim of resolving the outstanding opposition.

Speaking in Helsinki on Friday, the Swedish leader said that Turkish concerns were “perfectly legitimate” and wouldn’t give a fixed timeline for securing Ankara’s support.

“Of course, Sweden and Finland want as soon a ratification as possible,” Kristersson said, adding that he was ready to travel to Turkey. “We have been taking every step hand-in-hand and none of us have any other ambition.”

You really and truly do NOT understand the concept of angry poor white trash and its connection to struggling with staying in the middle class. I first saw that concept in action when I was a little kid. My whole extended family was angry poor white trash in East Texas. At the time, they all believed they were good Christians and doing great, prospering in America, but looking back from 2022, they were not prospering. This was around 1962, when the Jehovah's Witnesses first came knocking at my parents' door.

The Witnesses are truly opposed to the 7 deadly sins - lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride - which was exactly what was holding back all my relatives. My parents switched religions and they slowly became more prosperous because they actually avoided the sins, unlike their lying hypocritical relatives who were no more Christian than I am. My parents kept working at Burger King, but life got much smoother for them and their children. My father died a millionaire. My mother died a multi-millionaire. Her two daughters, a teacher and a nurse, in very middle class occupations, are far richer than our parents were. The whole family is still Jehovah's Witnesses, except for me.

What has happened to my angry poor white trash relatives over the 60 years since 1962? They did not prosper. They did not even live very long. My father died at 80, far older than his parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and cousins, but he would have lived much longer if the Jehovah's Witnesses had gotten him to stop smoking sooner. My mother, who only smoked occasionally, died at 94. Her sister, who never smoked and was also a Jehovah's Witness, lived to be 96. Funny thing about Natalie, she got rich, too, unlike everyone else on her side of the family, who stayed Southern Baptist and poor.

What about my cousins and their children? Some of them lived long enough to vote for Trump, but all my cousins are now dead and a third of their children, all Trump voters, are dead. Living a sinful life takes away the years you have.

My angry poor white trash relatives vote for Trump. When the man who embodies all 7 deadly sins - lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride - is signing Bibles it means that it is time to reevaluate your religion. And what do my angry poor white trash relatives say about the war? Fuck Ukraine.

A panelist on a recent Russian state-television program was cut off by a host after he criticized Russia's bombing of Ukrainian power plants amid its invasion of the Eastern European country.

"I don't know what kind of just world order we could be talking about, when we are destroying power plants and the infrastructure in Ukraine," Roschin said.

"You haven't been here for a while. He saved up some stuff in his soul," the host, Andrey Norkin, interjected. "He decided to throw a turd onto the field."

"This is cruelty and sadism, a war against civilians. This is a war against the people," Roschin continued.

Norkin once again interrupted, saying: "You're forcing me to explain everything that was said in our studio in your absence for the last three, four, five years."

"As a citizen, I'm responsible, but I did not approve the bombing of the Ukrainian power plants," Roschin responded.

"Let's pretend we listened to the rest of your manifesto, do you have anything of substance to say?" Norkin asked.

"When this is the kind of thing that we do, the way they feel towards us is clearly understandable," Roschin concluded.

In a separate part of the segment, another panelist, Aleksandr Sytin, a political scientist and historian, said Russia "violated the territorial integrity of a sovereignty nation" when it invaded the country in late February.

You've posted this before. It's boring, racist, and wrong in so many ways.

You say you know the Bible.

Well, there are NO "seven deadly sins" in the Bible, as you list them. Those were made up by Pope Gregory.

The ones they DO list ...

Quote:

A troublemaker and a villain, who goes about with a corrupt mouth…who plots evil with deceit in his heart—he always stirs up conflict. Therefore disaster will overtake him in an instant; he will suddenly be destroyed…

There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies, and a person who stirs up conflict in the community. (Proverbs 6:12-19)

Well, you commit all of them.

But mostly, you think anyone who disagrees with you and is white is just like your family!!

Yanno, it's possible to be angry, white and poor but not trash. It's possible to be angry, poor BLACK trash. It's possible to be RICH trash. White, rich, angry Democrat trash. Not everyone who is Republican is poor, angry, white, and trash.

You keep repeating this story bc you feel the need to proclaim, over and over, that you're better than "they" (This apocryphal "they" who you've never met but who looks suspiciously like your family, repeated ad infinitum aross the USA.)

why do you do this? Bc one of the things psychologists found about wealthy people is they tend to believe that their wealth is due to their innate superiority instead of luck. Trust me, son, there are better, smarter, more moral, harder-working people out there than you. I've met quite a few. But then, you set a pretty low bar. It's easier to be better than you are.

Because you're just an ignorant, narrow-minded, vindictive, proud little prick who harasses and libels anyone who isn't rich, and a democrat.

This isn't a concept. This is just another half of many ideas that are in direct conflict with the other half of ideas you have in that tiny little brain of yours. You're a walking hypocrisy factory.

One post you're blaming corporations for making people poor, then 2 minutes later you're blaming poor people for making themselves poor.

There IS truth to both of these concepts, but because you speak only in absolutes whenever you open your mouth, your ideas are always in direct conflict with one another.

Who the fuck are you to be labeling them poor white trash? If they were happy and believed they were doing great, why would you take that away from them?

Nobody believes that your family was rich or that you are rich.

And nobody successfully avoids sins either. Not your parents. Not your sister. Not you.

You know the true character of a man when you see what he does when nobody is looking.

The takeaway here is three fold.

1. You cling on to life because you are scared of death.

2. It's a good thing you aren't religious because you sit in judgement of everyone around you while never taking a good look at yourself because you actually believe that you're perfect and righteous.

3. You've figured nothing out. And because you got this far into adulthood without even realizing the need to have an open mind and to do some self reflection, you will spend the rest of your days not knowing what the fuck is going on.

Signym, it is absolutely no surprise that Putin would trash Ukrainians, take their property, and blow up their museums and churches because he does the same to Jehovah's Witnesses. I am not a Jehovah's Witness, but I know a few. I do not follow that religion, but I learned a few things that have been the foundation of my prosperous and peaceful life. Trump voters who did NOT learn those things will forever struggle in America to stay in the middle class. Russians would mightily benefit if they learned those things. It is very evident by comparing Russia to Canada and Finland that Russia has much to learn if it is to prosper.

Canada vs Russia: Economic Indicators Comparison
Canada with a GDP of $1.7T ranked the 10th largest economy in the world, while Russia ranked 11th with $1.7T. By GDP 5-years average growth and GDP per capita, Canada and Russia ranked 133rd vs 162nd and 21st vs 68th, respectively.

In 2017, Russia’s Supreme Court banned Jehnovah's Witnesses. Has Canada? It has not.
Russians habitually declare different people, whether Ukrainians or Witnesses, to be threats to the existence of Russia. Canadians don't do that.

Yes, nice deflection from my point, SECOND.

I have nothing against Jehova's Witnesses, because- UNLIKE YOU- I don't castigate whole groups of people. I don't presume to kow what anyone- or everyone - is like because they're a particular RACE, RELIGION, NATIONALITY, or POLITICAL PARTY. I don't harass and threaten and libel people who have not demonstrated their character to me by word or deed. In fact, I don't harass or threaten and libel people even when they HAVE demonstrated their poor character. Because I don't feel entitled and self-righteous, like you do.

So put your insinuations and lies and virtue-signalling away.

What I DO have is a grotch against YOU, because you have proven yourself to be a liar and an asshole, over and over again on this board, virtually without exception.

And - amazingly- even tho you're an apparent sociopath, you think you're a "better person"?
Only goes to show how well you lie to yourself.

So, how about we turn this thread away from your favorite subject (your vitrue signalling) and back to the OT?

The topic is "Russia Invades Ukraine. Again." Got that much, Signym? Putin has given many phony reasons for the invasion but the true reason is that this is how he rules. Putin has done to the Jehovah's Witnesses what he is doing to Ukrainians. Putin is persecuting both rather than doing what a normal country, Canada or Finland, does. Normal means leaving these people alone and going about your normal work rather than creating enemies to persecute.

Why Is Putin Afraid of Jehovah’s Witnesses?

MARCH 26, 2021, 2:26 PM
On Wednesday, authorities in Russian-occupied Crimea announced that they had arrested a 30-year-old man suspected of promoting an organization that had been banned and deemed extremist in Russia. The day before that, prosecutors in the Russian city of Smolensk asked a court to sentence three adherents of the same group to up to nine years behind bars. On Monday, in the Crimean port of Sevastopol, prosecutors sought seven years for a man charged with “organizing the activities of an extremist group.”

So who are these scary extremists? Jehovah’s Witnesses, a Christian denomination with an estimated 175,000 followers in Russia. In 2017, Russia’s Supreme Court declared the group an extremist organization, lumping its non-violent adherents into the same category as neo-Nazis and members of al Qaeda.

Since then, Russian law enforcement has raided the homes of more than 1,300 worshippers and over 400 have been either charged or convicted of extremism in a brutal crackdown which has swept up followers aged 19 to 90. The European Association of Jehovah’s Witnesses estimates that between 5,000 to 10,000 of its members have fled Russia since the ban came into force.

Why is this happening?

As is often the case with authoritarian states, it’s hard to tell exactly what has prompted the crackdown—and there’s likely more than one reason. Jehovah’s Witnesses themselves are bewildered.

“If it wasn’t so serious, it would be a joke. It’s absurd. Jehovah’s Witnesses have been anything but extremist, and we’re certainly not dangerous or violent,” said Jarrod Lopes, a spokesperson for the group’s headquarters in the United States. Jehovah’s Witnesses remain politically neutral for religious reasons and do not vote, run for office, or protest. That might have spared them the arrests and harassment levied against protesters and opposition politicians in Russia, but their apolitical stance might have singled them out in other ways. “That looks very suspicious to our authorities,” said Alexander Verkhovsky, director of the Moscow-based SOVA Center for Information and Analysis, which tracks discrimination and misuse of Russia’s extremism laws.

After Vladimir Putin returned to the presidency in 2012 amid mass street protests against allegedly rigged elections, the Kremlin made a conscious effort to foment nationalism—and support for Putin. This new wave of patriotism was built around support for the armed forces and the Russian Orthodox Church, which is closely interwoven with the Russian state. All of this made Jehovah’s Witnesses—who refuse military conscription based on their faith—all the more conspicuous.

“I think it makes states that want a lot of control uncomfortable, because they can’t really control this community,” said Emily Baran, a history professor at Middle Tennessee State University.

That last line is why Putin invaded Ukraine: “I think it makes states that want a lot of control uncomfortable, because they can’t really control this community.”

SECIND: The topic is "Russia Invades Ukraine. Again." Got that much, Signym?

Hey, YOU'RE the one who keeps dragging every gorram thread into "Trumptard" "poor white trash" "I'm so great" territory, not me. Your constant self-aggrandizing virtue signaling is pathetic.

Quote:

Putin has given many phony reasons for the invasion but the true reason is that this is how he rules.

Well, I managed to plow past your first stupid sentence only to make it to your second egregious stupidity. Not even gonna read the rest.

IN REALITY, SECOND, YOUR posts display every single reason for the invasion.

Your mindless, brainwashed hatred of Russia and Russians, characterizing all of them as barbaric, stupid, genocidal cannibals. (Did I miss anything? Probably.) Willing to believe everything negative about Russia and Russians, tarred with everything terrible from time immemorial thru days of the tsars thru Stalin to today. Genetically, unchangeably, unalterably inferior.

Your equally brainwashed hatred of Putin, willing to believe and propagate every lie about him. About how he, personally interfered with our elections and colluded with Trump, poisoned a dozen prominent people both inside of Russia and out, a tyrant with an iron fist ruling over an enslaved people, endlessly scheming to (somehow) destroy the USA and take over the world. BWAHAHAHA..

Your avowed desire to ring Russia with nukes, your constant war-mongering against Russia.

Your avowed desire to implant your own values (Well, not YOUR values. You don't give a shit about Jehovah's witness, you don't believe in God, and you certainly don't believe in diversity of opinion, freedom of speech, or fairness. You're a vindictive self-righteous little prick. No, I mean your "virtue-signalling" values.) into another culture in order to destroy it.

Your avowed desire to regime change Russia, break it up into little powerless statelets and steal their resources ("It's not fair" you said "that Russia has so many resources".)

Your consistent blindness to the aggression and evils of the west against other nations, including Russia.

Now, you, yourself, don't drive USA policy. You're not that important. What you DO reflect is the neocon propaganda which has been promoting the desire to crush Russia ever since 1990.

So, yeah... everything you've ever posted on the topic is a prime exemplar of why Russia invaded Ukraine. All you need to do is look to yourself to understand why that happened.

But I know you won't bc you can't afford personal insight.

****

Bored of your endless propaganda and virtue-signalling now

How about we start discussing facts and REALITY in this supposedly "real world" forum?

You talk about me just like Russians talk about Ukrainians and the Jehovah's Witnesses. Jehovah’s Witnesses Ban reflects the popular will of Russians everywhere. By Emily B. Baran, April 24, 2017

If the idea of Jehovah’s Witnesses posing any serious threat to national security seems absurd, it is, but it also has long roots in Russian society.

In the Soviet period, Communist Party-sponsored newspapers described the Witnesses as “fanatics” and “sectarians.” Ordinary believers were portrayed as ignorant rubes, duped into the shady underground world of sectarianism by unfortunate life circumstances and their own gullibility. The Soviet press drew an even less flattering portrait of elders in the Witness congregations, who were described as criminals, Nazi collaborators, drunkards, wife-beaters, deadbeats, and con-men.

When the Soviet Union collapsed, no one ever apologized for this disinformation or told the Russian people that the state had misjudged the Witnesses. On the contrary, the now-private media quickly seized on stale, anti-cult rhetoric of their Western counterparts.

Witnesses were no longer “anti-Soviet,” but they were still “sectarians” who “brainwashed” vulnerable citizens into joining a “totalitarian cult” that turned members into “zombies.”

Newspapers recounted horror stories of young people who fell into the Witnesses’ clutches, and desperate parents who called on the state to save their children from this predatory organization. It is little wonder that Russians developed a negative view of Witnesses.

The news media presented an image of the group as fundamentally incompatible with the new democratic system. By that logic, restricting the Witnesses actually upheld democratic values, while allowing Witnesses to “recruit” members denied citizens their basic freedoms.

Signym, you are writing propaganda. I will show how that works in Russia when the target is Jehovah's Witnesses: First, the Witnesses were anti-Soviet fanatics. Then they were totalitarian sectarians. Now they are extremists. Signym, the Witnesses are none of those things. It is Russians spouting calumny. Signym, you have been spouting calumny about Ukrainians, Biden, Pelosi, NATO, me. You do it so easily after long practice.

Prior to the Russian Supreme Court ruling, the more than 170,000 Russian Witnesses had legally registered with the government and certainly do not advocate violence against state or society. That may not matter in the end because the demonization of Witnesses has so eclipsed any sense of reality.

The state is the central actor, but its actions reflect the popular will of Russians who, by and large, have decided that Witnesses have no place in their society.

In this regard, even before the court decision, the Witnesses had already lost in the court of public opinion. This is not a good sign for the health of religious pluralism in Russia. (Not a good sign for the health of Ukrainians. If Ukraine loses to Russia, Ukrainians will be treated horribly, far worse than Jehovah's Witnesses, because Ukrainians fought back while the Witnesses did not because they are pacifists.)

Russia announces wider evacuation of occupied southern Ukraine

By Pavel Polityuk and Jonathan Landay

KYIV/MYKOLAIV, Ukraine (Reuters) - Russia ordered civilians to leave a sliver of Ukraine along the eastern bank of the Dnipro River, a major extension of an evacuation order that Kyiv says amounts to the forced depopulation of occupied territory.

Russia had previously ordered civilians out of a pocket it controls on the west bank of the river, where Ukrainian forces have been advancing to capture the city of Kherson. Russian-installed officials said on Tuesday they were now extending that order to a 15-km (9-mile) buffer zone along the east bank as well.

Ukraine says the evacuations include forced deportations from occupied territory, a war crime. Russia, which claims to have annexed the area, says it is taking civilians to safety because of a threat Ukraine might use unconventional weapons.

"Due to the possibility of the use of prohibited methods of war by the Ukrainian regime, as well as information that Kyiv is preparing a massive missile strike on the Kakhovka hydroelectric station, there is an immediate danger of the Kherson region being flooded," Vladimir Saldo, Russian-installed head of occupied Kherson province, said in a video message.

Moscow has accused Kyiv of planning to use a so-called "dirty bomb" to spread radiation, or to blow up a dam to flood towns and villages in Kherson province. Kyiv says accusations it would use such tactics on its own territory are absurd, but that Russia might be planning such actions itself to blame Ukraine.

The mouth of the wide Dnipro River has become one of the most consequential frontlines in the war in recent weeks, with Ukrainian forces advancing to expel Russian troops from their only pocket on the west bank. Russia has thousands of troops there and has been trying to reinforce the area. Ukraine's advance has slowed in recent days, with commanders citing weather and tougher terrain.

Saldo, the Russian-imposed occupation leader for the province, identified seven towns on the east bank that would now be evacuated, comprising the main populated settlements along that stretch of the river.

The European Union accused Moscow on Tuesday of launching a new programme to illegally conscript men in Crimea, which Russia seized in 2014, to fight in its forces. The EU statement said Moscow was disproportionately conscripting members of Crimea's indigenous Tatar minority to fight in its war.

Russia, which launched its "special military operation" in Ukraine in February, has announced it has completed a mobilisation drive ordered in September by President Vladimir Putin, saying it had called up 300,000 reservists and more were not needed.

But Putin has not issued a decree ending the mobilisation, raising concern he could restart it without notice. A senior Russian ruling party senator said on Tuesday a decree formally ending the mobilisation was not needed.

Thousands of Russian men have fled abroad to escape conscription to a conflict which has killed thousands, displaced millions, shaken the global economy and reopened Cold War-era divisions.

'BARBARIAN HORDE'

Just north of Kherson, Russia fired four missiles into the Ukrainian port city of Mykolaiv overnight, demolishing half an apartment building. Reuters saw rescue workers recover the body of an elderly woman from the rubble.

As rush hour was under way, passersby walked past a two-storey school, the front of which had been torn off by the force of the blast that left a massive crater.

"This is what the barbarian horde does," said Irena Siden, 48, the school’s deputy director, standing in front of the gutted building as workers began sweeping up the rubble.

"They (the Russians) are the descendants of the barbarian horde. They stole our history and how they are trying to steal our culture."

Russia fired a huge volley of missiles at Ukrainian cities on Monday in what Putin called retaliation for an attack on Russia's Black Sea Fleet at the weekend. Ukraine said it shot most of those missiles down, but some had hit power stations, knocking out electricity and water supplies.

"That's not all we could have done," Putin said at a televised news conference.

Putin has also suspended cooperation with a U.N.-backed programme to escort cargo ships carrying grain out of the war zone. The three-month-old programme had lifted a de facto Russian blockade of Ukraine, one of the world's biggest grain producers, and averted a global food crisis.

Russia's suspension of cooperation had raised international fears that a food crisis could return, but so far Moscow has not restored its blockade, with 12 ships able to depart Ukraine on Monday carrying grain, and three more sailing on Tuesday.

Whether those shipments can continue may depend on whether insurers are still willing to underwrite them.
