Name one good thing that doesn't include the word Trump in it.

It is like talking about the Civil War but not mentioning that the Confederates were crazed madmen on a killing rampage to protect their slave property. The problem with America is Trumptards, but they were a huge problem before Trump became a politician just as Russians were a huge problem, threatening to nuke the world, long before Putin was out of diapers. The US spent over $10 trillion (not billion, not million) on nuclear weapons because the Russians continuously threatened to nuke the US. Similarly, the kind of Americans who would vote for Trump have been a huge pain-in-the-ass for America since I was a baby in 1952. The pain-in-the-asses think they are the heart of America, but they are just the asses and don't know it.

There is even infighting in Russia:

Former Russian officer and ardent nationalist Igor Girkin’s newly formed “Club of Angry Patriots” published its manifesto focused on protecting pro-war factions in the Kremlin from possible “sabotage” and “betrayal.” The “Club of Angry Patriots” published its manifesto on April 17 on its newly created Telegram channel, which emphasizes protecting pro-war factions in the Kremlin instead of efforts to win the war in Ukraine.[25] The manifesto claims that unspecified actors who remain in power in Russia have transferred their money and allegiance to the West and may be preparing for a coup and the ”dismemberment” of the Russia Federation. The manifesto likens the Kremlin‘s pro-war and anti-war factions to the fight between the Reds and Whites in the Russian Civil War following the Bolshevik revolution of 1917. The manifesto also claims that Russia is currently fighting the war in a mediocre way and is unable to defeat Ukraine in its current state. ISW previously assessed that Girkin and the “Club of Angry Patriots” may be attempting to advance the political goals of unnamed figures in Russian power structures who want to influence Putin’s decision making through public discourse.[26]

Yanno, come to think of it, I can't think of a single positive thing Biden* has done for us.

Let's compare Presidents. I could do a comparison of Jefferson Davis to Lincoln, which one is more sane, but a comparison of Trump to Biden or Putin to Biden is more relevant.

On the one hand, Trump claimed he could end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours. He didn't explain how because he is a lunatic. Signym and 6ix keep writing "Fuck Ukraine" because they literally, not figuratively, live like lunatics (I read everything you two lunatics write). On the other hand, Biden went to Ukraine and sent them ammo to kill Russians (a nation that has threatened to nuke the US every day since the first day it got a nuke), which always gets Putin to swear he will nuke the US if Biden sends more ammo because Putin is also a lunatic. Russia's threats have cost the US at least $10 trillion for nuclear weapons to deter Russia from doing what it continuously threatens to do.

The thing is, Signym and 6ix, that there is a difference in real world results between being an lunatic (Trump, Putin, every Trumptard I know is howling at the moon, Russians who support Putin in nuking the US and conquering Ukraine) and being sane (Biden). Trumptards could discover what Democrats have done by googling what are Biden legislation achievements or judges confirmed. But that cannot be as fun as ranting and raging like lunatics, the main thing Trump or Putin do.

An interview with two former Wagner Group fighters on their treatment of Ukrainian children and other civilians and prisoners of war (POWs) further highlights how Wagner has institutionalized systematic brutality as part of its fundamental modus operandi. Russian human rights organization Gulagu.net released a video interview on April 17 with two former convicts who finished their contracts with Wagner and returned to Russia.[12] One Wagner fighter, Azamat Yaldarov, admitted that Prigozhin ordered his unit to kill children while taking control of Soledar, and that he buried 18 children that he killed in Krasnodar Krai and Saratov and Kirov oblasts.[13] Yaldarov emphasized that Prigozhin gave the order for Wagner fighters to ”eliminate” everyone in Soledar, and that Yaldarov was specifically ordered to kill children. Another Wagner fighter and commander of a reconnaissance unit, Aleksey Savich, told the interviewer that he fired on his own men for disobedience and that he personally witnessed the executions of 80 Wagner fighters for refusing to follow orders. Savich claimed that Wagner command gave the order to kill all civilians in Bakhmut aged 15 and older, and that his unit killed 23 civilians, 10 of whom were unarmed teenagers. Savich recounted other instances from operations in Bakhmut and Soledar in which he murdered children as young as five years old and other civilians. Savich also claimed that Prigozhin has a personal preference for recording videos of the execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war.

The extremely graphic atrocities described by Yaldarov and Savich underscore a slate of recent reports of Wagner’s systematic use of brutality as a method of waging war.[14] Prigozhin and Wagner’s command may actively encourage active engagement in atrocities in an attempt to build social cohesion and reputation within Wagner units. This type of engrained violence is likely to have escalating domestic impacts on Russian domestic society, especially as Wagner fighters complete their contracts and return to their homes. Russian society will have to increasingly work to handle the normalized brutality committed by its forces as they reintegrate into the domestic sphere, which will likely have generational domestic societal ramifications.

The Gulagu.net interview with the two former Wagner fighters provides valuable insight into Wagner’s force structure and operational prioritization. Yaldarov claimed that he was the commander of Wagner’s 5th Assault Detachment and that he trained with a special unit that specifically taught him to kill.[15] Yaldarov stated that the higher Wagner command gave his unit the order to place a flag on likely the Bakhmut administrative building and that he was not allowed to leave Bakhmut until after its capture. Considering the fact that Yaldarov gave the interview from his home in Russia because he was released from his contract, his anecdote about the administrative building may suggest that Wagner considered the capture of the administrative building and the central Bakhmut area to be threshold for announcing the capture of the city. The apparent return of Putin’s favor to Prigozhin may have resulted in part from Prigozhin’s ability to claim the capture of Bakhmut — his objective — while the Russian MoD’s conventional forces failed to achieve any of their objectives. Yaldarov’s account of Prigozhin’s orders for Wagner troops to massacre civilians and everyone they came across in Soledar in early January additionally indicates that Prigozhin pushed for the quick capture of the settlement and ordered his fighters to take it essentially at any cost. Both Yaldarov and Savich emphasize the way that the Wagner command demands brutal treatment of Wagner dissenters within the ranks and the operational reliance on attritional assaults carried out by convict recruits.

The Democrats passed a budget and appointed judges, but the most important thing is that Biden stopped Putin from conquering Europe. Somebody needed to thrash the Russians ever since 1945 (anybody remembers Russia's Iron Curtain?) and nobody would do it until Ukraine did, mostly because Putin was murdering Ukrainians and erasing Ukraine from the maps. Putin would have already succeeded if Biden hadn't sent ammo to Ukraine. The cheese-eating surrender monkeys of the EU and the GOP, Trump in particular, would have allowed Putin to take over Europe by now.

Source: the SSU, which has posted the conversation of a Russian citizen who was sent to Ukraine's east in December 2022

Quote from the Russian soldier: "We had to kill minors, women, everyone. Can you believe it? Instant elimination, like, "Just f**king shoot them". I'm ready [to do it], but to be honest, I was f**king shocked. They explained it all to us: doesn’t matter whether they’re fourteen, eighteen, or if it’s a girl – just kill them on the spot. Let's start the mop-up operation."

Details: The Russian soldier’s wife is not surprised by what her husband says. "What else could you do?" she replies. After all, she’s heard on TV that apparently, "all the civilians had already left".

The SSU stressed that the Ukrainian defenders, on their part, are making every effort to ensure that Russians "go home as quickly as possible and in body bags only," and the service itself is doing everything possible to bring all Russian war criminals to justice.

Background:

Earlier, the Russian organisation Gulagu.net posted videos in which Russian convicts from the Wagner Group confess to murdering Ukrainian children in Bakhmut and Soledar. According to one of the killers, unarmed 15-year-old Ukrainians "can hardly be called civilians".

Russia has repeatedly said that any settlement of the conflict must acknowledge the "realities" of its unilateral annexation of four Ukrainian provinces, which its armed forces partly control.

What do Russia and Ukraine say about the reasons behind the invasion?

Russia says it was forced to intervene in Ukraine in February last year to defend Russian speakers from persecution and to prevent the West using Ukraine to threaten Russia's security.

Kyiv and the West say these are baseless pretexts for a war of conquest in which thousands have been killed and Ukrainian cities have been devastated.

I immediately thought of 6ixStringJack when I read: "It's almost as if Russia (and Trumptards) have managed to come up with a new formula for achieving premature death."

Moscow has been grappling with a declining population for 30 years, but one demographic expert said this fact in and of itself is not actually the No. 1 problem that's crippling Russian societal advancement.

"It's possible for an aging and shrinking society to prosper," demographic and economic specialist Nicholas Eberstadt, who holds the Henry Wendt chair in political economy at the American Enterprise Institute, told Fox News Digital. "But Russia is not doing that."

"They have a health crisis with … astonishingly high death rates for working-age men and even working-age women, and they also have a strange inability to harness their seemingly highly educated population to create knowledge and economic value," he said. "They have a crisis."

Experts are flummoxed when it comes to Russia’s high infertility rates and high death rates, particularly among men.

Eberstadt, who has monitored Russia’s declining population for decades and wrote a book in 2010 called "Russia’s Peacetime Demographic Crisis," explained that Russia has certain health factors, like alcoholism and dietary practices, that contribute to higher rates of top killers like heart disease.

But the expert said that these factors should equate to roughly twice the rate of deaths in Western Europe and not the rate currently seen in Russia, which is four times the mortality rate reported by its Western neighbors.

"So, what’s going on?" he said. "It's almost as if Russia has managed to come up with a new formula for achieving premature death."

Russia’s population nightmare is going to get even worse

War in Ukraine has aggravated a crisis that long predates the conflict

A DEMOGRAPHIC TRAGEDY is unfolding in Russia. Over the past three years the country has lost around 2m more people than it would ordinarily have done, as a result of war, disease and exodus. The life expectancy of Russian males aged 15 fell by almost five years, to the same level as in Haiti. The number of Russians born in April 2022 was no higher than it had been in the months of Hitler’s occupation. And because so many men of fighting age are dead or in exile, women now outnumber men by at least 10m.

War is not the sole—or even the main—cause of these troubles, but it has made them all worse. According to Western estimates, 175,000-250,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded in the past year (Russia’s figures are lower). Somewhere between 500,000 and 1m mostly young, educated people have evaded the meat-grinder by fleeing abroad. Even if Russia had no other demographic problems, losing so many in such a short time would be painful. As it is, the losses of war are placing more burdens on a shrinking, ailing population. Russia may be entering a doom loop of demographic decline.

The roots of Russia’s crisis go back 30 years. The country reached peak population in 1994, with 149m people. The total has since zig-zagged downwards. It was 145m in 2021 (that figure, from the UN, excludes the 2.4m people of Crimea, which Russia seized in 2014 and incorporated into its national accounts). According to UN projections, the total could be just 120m in 50 years, if current patterns persist. That would make Russia the 15th-most-populous country in the world, down from sixth in 1995. According to Alexei Raksha, an independent demographer who used to work for the state statistics service, if you look just at peacetime years, the number of births registered in April 2022 was the lowest since the 18th century. April was a particularly cruel month, but it was a revealing glimpse of a chronic problem.

Population decline is not unique to Russia: most post-communist states have seen dips, though not like this. Their declines have been slow but also manageable. Russia’s population in recent decades has seen a precipitous slump, then a partial recovery (thanks to a period of high immigration from parts of the ex-Soviet Union and more generous child allowances after 2007), followed by a renewed fall.

According to the state statistics agency, in 2020 and 2021 combined the country’s population declined by 1.3m; deaths outstripped births by 1.7m. (The UN also shows a fall, but it is shallower.) The decline was largest among ethnic Russians, whose number, the census of 2021 said, fell by 5.4m in 2010-21. Their share of the population fell from 78% to 72%. So much for Mr Putin’s boast to be expanding the Russki mir (Russian world).

All this began before the war and reflects Russia’s appalling covid pandemic. The official death toll from the disease was 388,091, which would be relatively low; but The Economist estimates total excess deaths in 2020-23 at between 1.2m and 1.6m. That would be comparable to the number in China and the United States, which have much larger populations. Russia may have had the largest covid death toll in the world after India, and the highest mortality rate of all, with 850-1,100 deaths per 100,000 people.

If you add pandemic mortality to the casualties of war and the flight from mobilisation, Russia lost between 1.9m and 2.8m people in 2020-23 on top of its normal demographic deterioration. That would be even worse than during the disastrous early 2000s, when the population was falling by roughly half a million a year.

What might that mean for Russia’s future? Demography is not always destiny; and Russia did for a while begin to reverse its decline in the mid-2010s. The impact of population change is often complex, as Russia’s military mobilisation shows. The decline in the number of ethnic Russians of call-up age (which is being raised from 18-27 to 21-30) will make it harder for the armed forces to carry out the regular spring draft, which begins in April.

Such complications notwithstanding, the overall effect of demographic decline will be to change Russia profoundly—and for the worse. Most countries which have suffered population falls have managed to avoid big social upheavals. Russia may be different. Its population is falling unusually fast and may drop to 130m by mid-century. The decline is associated with increased misery: the life expectancy at birth of Russian males plummeted from 68.8 in 2019 to 64.2 in 2021, partly because of covid, partly from alcohol-related disease. Russian men now die six years earlier than men in Bangladesh and 18 years earlier than men in Japan.

And Russia may not achieve what enables other countries to grow richer as they age: high and rising levels of education. Nicholas Eberstadt, a demographer at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, argues that the country presents a peculiar combination of third-world mortality and first-world education. It has some of the highest rates of educational attainment among over-25s in the world. But the exodus of well-educated young people is eroding this advantage. According to the communications ministry, 10% of IT workers left the country in 2022. Many were young men. Their flight is further skewing Russia’s unbalanced sex ratio, which in 2021 meant there were 121 females older than 18 for every 100 males.

The demographic doom loop has not, it appears, diminished Mr Putin’s craving for conquest. But it is rapidly making Russia a smaller, worse-educated and poorer country, from which young people flee and where men die in their 60s. The invasion has been a human catastrophe—and not only for Ukrainians. ¦

Vladimir Putin’s Cronies Ordered Killing Of ‘Screaming 5-Year-Old Ukrainian Girl,’ Ex-Commanders Reveal In Stunning Video Confession

Alexei Savichev and Azamat Uldarov confessed in a video released on April 17, by the Russian human rights project Gulagu.net – stating that the orders to kill over 20 Ukrainian children and teenagers, along with 50 wounded prisoners – came from Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin and unit chiefs.

Along with 50 wounded prisoners, over 20 teenagers and children were killed as a result.

One of the mercenaries claimed, “I shot a 5-year-old in the head,” and both asserted that Russian officers gave orders to “shoot without words,” and that this rule applied to anyone over the age of 15.

Savichev revealed his jaded view saying that he found it difficult to see 15-year-olds as civilians.

The two ex-convicts turned conscripts revealed that they were ordered to “mop up” and kill everyone, including senior citizens and children.

One of the places Uldarov helped “mop up” was the basement of a nine-story structure in Bakhmut, where they were responsible for the deaths of between 300 and 400 civilians, 40 of whom were children.

The orders allegedly came from Prigozhin, who demanded that all be killed without mercy in Bakhmut, and according to the killers, it was even worse in Soledar.

Uldarov, who was intoxicated throughout the video, claimed that Wagnerites do not take prisoners but instead executed Ukrainian soldiers, primarily by cutting their throats.

He added that when Prigozhin said “sledgehammer,” they would use a sledgehammer to kill them and that Prigozhin was a “horrible man.”

The mercenaries showed little regret for their criminal offenses in a 77-minute-long video, with Uldarov even stating that he wanted to continue fighting in the war, per Ukrainska Pravda.

Gulagu’s Osechkin, who is based in France, told CNN he stood by the content of his interviews with the two men, citing Uldarov’s retraction as proof of how quickly dissenting voices are silenced in Russia. Osechkin also claimed that both interviewees, Uldarov and Savichev, had been threatened with murder if they didn’t retract their statements to him.

Geolocated footage shows that Putin visited Arabat Spit in southwestern Kherson Oblast - at least 130km from the nearest frontline.[6]

Putin’s visit likely also intended to publicly identify potential scapegoats ahead of the planned Ukrainian counteroffensives. Putin received briefings from Commander of Russian Airborne Forces (VDV) Colonel General Mikhail Teplinsky, Commander of the Dnepr Group of Forces Colonel General Oleg Makarevich, and other unnamed military commanders regarding the situation along the Kherson and Zaporizhia frontlines.[7] Putin also met with Colonel General Alexander Lapin and other unnamed top-ranking officers to discuss the situation on the Luhansk frontline. Putin likely deliberately singled out Teplinsky and Makarevich as commanders responsible for southern Ukraine, and Lapin as a commander overseeing the Luhansk direction. Putin, Kremlin sources, and milbloggers have been increasingly discussing the prospects for a Ukrainian counteroffensive, and it is likely that the Kremlin is preparing the domestic information space for either military failures or the defeat of the counteroffensive threat.[8]

Select members of the “Club of Angry Patriots” are advocating for a revolution in Russia if the Kremlin freezes the war or pursues peace negotiations with Ukraine and the West. Self-proclaimed former “People’s Governor of Donetsk Oblast” Pavel Gubarev defined the “Club of Angry Patriots” as a “potentially revolutionary power” that will prevent “betrayal” if the government decides to freeze the current frontlines in Ukraine.[16] Gubarev also noted that Russia cannot win the war without a revolution – either from within the government or in society – because oligarchs, agents, ethnic mafias, and nationalist separatists will not allow for the reformation of social-economic institutions to support the war effort.

The group amplified a post from the leader of the Russian “Civil Solidarity” movement Georgiy Fedorov, who stated that the political situation in Russia largely depends on frontline realities. Fedorov assessed that Wagner Group financier Yevgeny Prigozhin’s recent statements about the end of the “special military operation” is the start of the campaign to freeze the war in Ukraine.

Fedorov stated that if Russians are able to defeat Ukrainian counteroffensives over the summer, then Russian President Vladimir Putin may freeze the war to avoid calling up mobilization ahead of the 2024 presidential election cycle. Fedorov claimed that Russia would likely present a suppressed Ukrainian counteroffensive as a victory and is likely intensifying volunteer recruitment efforts to generate enough contract servicemen to hold existing frontlines. Fedorov claimed that the Kremlin will continue to intensify censorship and repressions and will not replace officials in the Kremlin or within the military command under the conditions of unsuccessful counteroffensive operations. But if Ukrainians are successful, Fedorov stated that the political situation within the Kremlin will lead to a deeper conflict between different parties for influence and the Kremlin will conduct personnel changes.

6ix, it is what you meant. You and Trumptards have a lot in common with Russians, especially the running off at the mouth. Two Russians interviewed say they killed Ukrainian children. When that story got those two Russians in trouble with other Russians and threatened with death for telling the truth, one recanted and the other vanished. Here in Texas, Trumptards are always bragging about one or another disgraceful/stupid thing they did, but when it gets them into trouble, they take it all back as if more talk changes things. But the Russians did kill those children and the Trumptards are disgraceful/stupid and taking it all back changes nothing.

Really? Is that how you misinterpreted reality? What is your understanding of this story:

Russian State TV Discusses Plan To Rule The World After Winning Nuclear War

Russian state TV guests discussed a plan for world domination after nuclear war with the West during a debate on current global tensions due to the Ukraine war.

State TV host Vladimir Solovyov has repeatedly called for further escalation of the Ukraine war and aggression against the West as the conflict rages on.

In recent months, the Russian military has struggled to make headway in its invasion of Ukraine and has tried to capture the Donbas city of Bakhmut ahead of an anticipated counterattack by Kyiv.

If Ukrainian forces break through they could reach Russian-occupied Crimea, which one Putin ally warned could lead to the use of nuclear weapons.

During a broadcast Solovyov argued it is the West that is preparing for a global nuclear war and insisted Russia should behave more aggressively.

Solovyov regularly calls for a more aggressive approach, bemoaning the West's support of Ukraine in its conflict against Russia.

In a video, uploaded to the Russian Media Monitor YouTube account on Monday, the dean of Moscow State University's School of Television, Vitaly Tretyakov, questioned what would happen after a nuclear war.

He said: "Of course we will win, this isn't even up for discussion. What happens after our victory?

"Let's say, we won in a nuclear war, a fast and limited one, we got them all, pew-pew.

After that, we have to rule the world. The victor has to rule the world.

"Do we have a platform, a plan of ruling the world? I don't know, I haven't heard about it."

Solovyov joked that the plan on how to rule the world was written on a napkin and would be drawn up while individuals sat in a restaurant.

Tretyakov continued: "When Putin said that the next 10 years would be hard of course this doesn't pertain only to war on the territory of the former Ukraine, which should be simply liquidated as a nation."

"The same way Hitler's Nazi nation was liquidated, it was simply liquidated. Then it can be decided what to do with the lands and the people who used to serve this nation, but that is a separate topic."

Solovyov added that Russia should now focus on training new European leaders that favor Russia.

He said Russia had not yet lost Africa or Latin America because they had people on these continents dealing with this now.

Newsweek has contacted Russia's ministry of foreign affairs via email for comment.

Signym, my interpretation is that the Russian audience watching these crazy TV people have got to be drunk or on drugs or really stupid to be contemplating conquering the world. They can't even competently run Russia, let alone add Ukraine or the rest of the EU, UK, and USA.

According to an extended interview with Pepe Escobar (a Brazilian generally reporting from Asia and Central Asia, but currently dividing his time between France and Russia), Brian Berletic (a former American Marine currently living in and posting from Thailand) hosted by Gonzalo Lira (an American-raised Argentinian currently living in Kharkov, Ukraine) the current mood in Moscow is ... complacency. Unless they have a family member who has fought or is currently fighting in Ukraine (and, that means FIGHTING, not training) in Ukraine, life goes on as usual.

How did it happen that Germans have GDP per capita of $48k and Russians have $11k? I thought Russia won WWII. So why is Germany's economy twice the size of Russia's? $3.9T versus $1.7T

It is truly an economic mystery that Russians should look into and, perhaps, learn something from Germans.

By the way, a German's life span is much longer than a Russian's. Life expectancy at birth, years 81 versus 72.1. Apparently, winning a war with Germany was bad for the Russians. Maybe losing a war to Ukraine would be good for the Russians. Losing was good for the Germans!

Where are your numbers, Signym? If you have none, you are the bullshitter, living in unreality.

Russians are impoverished compared to Germans because Russians have wasted their efforts on building bigger nukes, while German did none of that nonsense. Funny how Russian TV talk shows keep talking about nuking countries helping Ukraine and conquering those countries. Going to war with the EU is not a way to make Russians richer.

By the way, the richest part of Germany was administrated by the US, UK, and France while the poor part of Germany was under Russian control. Coincidence? Not at all because Russians are incompetent at running an economy. Russians really need to learn how it is done. Japan, which lost a war, would be a great country for Russia to learn from, but Russia has stolen very large islands from Japan, so the Japanese might not feel like helping Russia advance its economy. Russia's belligerency isn't doing Russians any good.

There has never been a country full of self-hating, neutered men in the history of the world. Even the most Marxist US University couldn't ever do to the men that attend there than what the German people have done to themselves after the war.

6ix, where did you get this weird idea that German men are self-hating and neutered? You need to provide proof of what you are claiming, not how you feel/want/hope Germany should be. Try to think how the world would be if happy German men reached their goals: forcible acquisition of Lebensraum (living space) and a final reckoning with the Jews. I think German men would have had to turn the world into a smoking ruin. I think happy Russian men, to reach their goals, will have to turn the world into smoking ruins, just like they are already doing in Ukraine. Russian men shouldn't be that happy. It is not healthy for them.

Signym is doing the same with the GNP statistics: "The answer is... because Germany's GDP figures, like other nations in the west, are made up bullshit that has nothing to do with the real economy." It is Signym who is creating made-up bullshit about Russian economic superiority compared to the EU.

Russian forces continue to use Shahed drones and other lower-precision systems to offset the degradation of Russia’s precision munition supply. Russian forces launched 12 Shahed-131/136 drones at southern Ukraine from the Sea of Azov on the night of April 18 to 19, 10 of which Ukrainian air defense shot down.[7] Ukrainian United Coordination Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces Head Nataliya Humenyuk noted on April 19 that the Shahed strike was a deliberate attempt to find and destroy Ukrainian air defense systems.[8] Russian milbloggers have recently discussed the importance of targeting Ukrainian air defense capabilities in advance of any potential Ukrainian counteroffensives, and the Shahed strikes were likely intended in part to set conditions to do so.[9] Ukrainian Air Force Spokesperson Colonel Yuri Ihnat noted that Russia has used almost all of its strategic missile stockpile since September 11, 2022, and that Ukrainian forces have shot down 750 of the total 850 missiles that Russian forces have launched at Ukrainian during this period.[10] Ihnat noted that Russian forces have switched to cheaper and shorter-range options such as guided aerial bombs and have removed Kh-50 type missiles from storage for restoration.[11] Ihnat was likely referring to Kh-55 Soviet-era air launched cruise missiles, as Russia is slated to begin production on newer Kh-50 cruise missiles in summer 2023.[12] Russia may be removing Kh-55 cruise missiles from storage to refit them for future strikes on Ukraine.

The only way Putin can win in Ukraine is by prolonging it until the less staunch Western countries begin to waver in their resolve. And the only way he can do this is by throwing Russian men at the Ukrainian gunlines until they run out of ammunition.

This grotesque mockery of strategy is his last roll of the dice. It has proved successful, in a way, in Bakhmut, but has also taken a dreadful toll. The only way it can continue is if Russia is run as a military state. No dissension, no dispute. There are credible reports that the Kremlin has identified some four million souls across Russia who it believes will not be missed. The intellectually disabled, the homeless, the addicts, those in remote communities; give them a day’s training and throw them into the maelstrom. These sources also suggest their life expectancy is only 7 days on the frontline.

Only in a military state could you get away with these horrendous casualty rates. But these are not the children of the Moscow elite; they are the normal people who do not matter to the Kremlin. Putin’s effort to put veterans as “politicians” across the vast swathes of Russia could well be intended to silence any critics of this self-inflicted genocide.

The British and American governments suggest Russia has suffered over 220,000 dead and wounded thus far. I cannot believe that these families can be silenced forever. The bravery and resolve of Navalny and Kara-Murza will give hope to the rank and file, who in true communist fashion do not partake of the riches awarded to Putin’s cronies. This truth must surely out eventually, and when it does, history will repeat itself. There have been a very great many military dictators; their end is seldom pleasant.

What did Russia do to Germany after it surrendered in WWII? The Russians killed another 2 million Germans. If the Ukrainians surrendered, the Russians would kill millions of them, which is why the Ukrainians don't surrender.

Civilian deaths, due to the flight and expulsion of Germans, Soviet war crimes and the forced labor of Germans in the Soviet Union are disputed and range from 500,000 to over 2.0 million.

The Great Famine was a man-made famine in Soviet Ukraine from 1932 to 1933 that killed millions of Ukrainians. Some historians conclude that the famine was planned and exacerbated by Joseph Stalin in order to eliminate a Ukrainian independence movement. Others suggest that the famine was primarily the consequence of rapid Soviet industrialisation and collectivization of agriculture.

The US spent at least $10 trillion on nukes because Russia has threatened to nuke the US since Russia got its first nuke. But the US has been too frightened to fight a conventional war with Russia over these continuous threats to nuke the US because there are too many cowards like 6ix in the US.

The Ukrainians are not as cowardly as 6ix and therefore the Ukrainians are fighting the Russians. Ukrainians are unimpressed by Russian nukes. I don't know which side wins, but the Russians have needed a bone-breaking beating for many years to knock some sense into them. The US never had the guts to do it. Instead, the US overspent on expensive nukes as a substitute for courage, just like a lot of Americans buy expensive AK-47s and AR-15s but are too cowardly to use them as intended: to kill enemies in battle. It is nonsense to own a nuke or an automatic rifle when the thought of coldblooded killing makes you piss in your pants. You wasted your money because you can't buy courage at the same place you buy weapons.

Ukraine war: The Russian ships accused of North Sea sabotage

BBC News reports:

Russia has a programme to sabotage wind farms and communication cables in the North Sea, according to new allegations.

The details come from a joint investigation by public broadcasters in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.

It says Russia has a fleet of vessels disguised as fishing trawlers and research vessels in the North Sea.

They carry underwater surveillance equipment and are mapping key sites for possible sabotage.

The BBC understands that UK officials are aware of Russian vessels moving around UK waters as part of the programme.

The first of a series of reports is due to be broadcast on Wednesday by DR in Denmark, NRK in Norway, SVT in Sweden and Yle in Finland.

A Danish counter-intelligence officer says the sabotage plans are being prepared in case of a full conflict with the West while the head of Norwegian intelligence told the broadcasters the programme was considered highly important for Russia and controlled directly from Moscow.

The broadcasters say they have analysed intercepted Russian communications which indicate so-called ghost ships sailing in Nordic waters which have turned off the transmitters so as not to reveal their locations.

The report focuses on a Russian vessel called the Admiral Vladimirsky. Officially, this is an Expeditionary Oceanographic Ship, or underwater research vessel. But the report alleges that it is in fact a Russian spy ship.

What's the US getting out of Ukraine? Russia says several times per week that it will nuke the US but it can't until it finishes with Ukraine.

No. Russia is not threatening to nuke the US and using Ukraine as an excuse not to.

If they really desired to, they could put a nuke up your asshole right now.

Russia will NEVER FUCKING EVER use a nuke on the US. It has nothing to do with Ukraine. If they do it, then we do it and everybody loses.

And get fucked about the coward nonsense. If you want to fight in a war so bad, enlist in the military instead of parroting Legacy Media lies all day on your mom's computer from in your mom's basement.

Since Ukraine is the only country in the world with the guts to go to war with Russia, the US should support Ukraine because the US does not have the courage to fight Russia. Go ahead and provoke the Russians. Let's see if they really are as crazy as they seem to be. If 6ix is correct "Russia will NEVER FUCKING EVER use a nuke on the US." then there is no risk other than some Congressmen pissing in their pants.

Exclusive: US Navy Will Spend $200 Billion — Equal to Ukraine's GDP — on Subs It Barely Uses

Republicans hotly debate ongoing military aid to Kiev, but neither party has questioned the far more costly submarine program — allowing the Navy to conceal a startling fact about America's submarine fleet.

The U.S. Navy can deploy barely a quarter of its attack submarine force at any one time, and last year, despite a war raging in Ukraine and China's rise as a global superpower, only 10 percent of its submarines operated stealthily by spending more than 30 days fully submerged.

A three-month Newsweek investigation reveals the problematic arithmetic of contemporary submarine operations. Newsweek obtained classified documents that show the full scope of submarine activities in 2022; reviewed the work of submarine-spotters worldwide; and conducted extensive interviews with naval officers and experts. The conclusion is stark: American submarines never came out in what naval officers call a "surge" against Russia or China, nor did the overall force ever increase its level of operations.

The Navy's $200 billion building program is aimed at increasing the number of its attack submarines from 50 to 66. That number is public. The statistic that's not discussed is that modern submarines have become so complex, the only way the Navy can appreciably increase its level of operations against Russia and China is by building many more. The Pentagon declares this an urgent task: China has the world's largest navy, and its submarine force is commonly described as catching up to the United States in quantity and quality. But as sluggish as the U.S. submarine performance is, Russia and China are even worse off. That raises further questions as to why the Navy is spending so much money in upgrading the attack submarine fleet, and in the ultimate value of such gold-plated machines.

Over the planned 30-year life cycle of the Oregon, the submarine will go on 15 extended deployments, the Navy officially says. That comes to a cumulative 90 months, or indeed about 25 percent of the time.

"This should not be taken as a criticism of the Oregon," the retired Captain says. "This is how it's designed. Submarines are incredibly complex and when they do forward deploy, there is no question—especially when compared to other countries—how superior they are. But the task is difficult and many of the ideas about how many submarines we have out there and what they are doing comes from Hollywood."

"Can the United States surge more submarines in a war? Or operate more boats forward? Yes," says the captain, "but only for short periods of time."

According to secret Navy records, only 32 of 50 attack submarines deployed in 2022. Those submarines spent a cumulative 151 months at sea, a quarter of what was theoretically possible. On average, 28 percent of their time at sea was in transit to and from Asia and Europe, making the actual time forward deployed and "on station" about 107 months. In other words, less than 20 percent of America's attack submarines were deployed and fully operational at any one time during a tumultuous year. It also means that the plan to increase the number of attack submarines from 50 to 66 effectively adds only four deployable forward subs.

"I thought they were out there all the time, you know, because the Russians are coming and the Chinese military is growing," says Hans Kristensen, the premier nuclear expert at the Federation of American Scientists, and someone who has studied submarines for decades, commenting on Newsweek's findings. "What these new numbers tell me is that the attack submarines are not war-winners."

Ukraine isn't at war with Russia. USA and NATO are. Your masters are just propagandizing them and making them march to their death for you.

Consider yourself lucky that you don't live in a country that shares a border with somebody the Pentagon is at war with or you'd have already mindlessly marched to your own death for no good goddamned reason and you wouldn't be able to post your dumb shit here everyday.

Brutalized Russian Society by Natalia Antonova

During Russia’s wars on Chechnya, videos of beheadings of Russian soldiers shocked and dismayed Russian society. But only for a while. Today, that kind of brutality has become entertainment for mainstream Russian society—as long as Russians are doing it.

In a way, I wish I were shocked by the horrific video that came out last week of a screaming Ukrainian prisoner of war being brutally beheaded by Russian soldiers.

At the same time, how can I be? Russians have done the same in Syria. The brutality of Russia’s war in Ukraine is deliberate—and Russian society is caught in a paradoxical spiral of denial and applause for it.

The so-called Chechenization (a term frequently used by Russian dissidents and academics, originally to refer to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s strategy of leaning on local warlords) of Russian society has been a long time coming. I use that term with caution; there’s nothing inherently brutal about Chechen society itself, as horrendous as the wars there were. Chechen dictator Ramzan Kadyrov, propped up by Putin, has inflicted the greatest suffering on his fellow Chechens, whether through day-to-day oppression and corruption or through violent purges.

But the wars in Chechnya, in 1994-96 and 1999-2000, played a key role in brutalizing Russian society. The spread of technology allowed for the filming of war crimes, and, at the same time, the murders of Chechen civilians were routinely downplayed or excused in the Russian press. Violence against Russians was used to justify violence committed by Russians. Ensuing terrorism against civilian targets in Russia deepened the process of brutalization further: The Beslan school siege is one of the most soul-destroying examples.

Both then and now, what ends up in the news about Chechnya is usually the tip of the iceberg, as any seasoned observer will tell you, but even before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the violence sown in the North Caucasus found ways of rippling out elsewhere.

After opposition politician Boris Nemtsov was gunned down not far from the Kremlin in 2015, the men convicted of the killing would prove to be connected to Kadyrov, though who hired them remains undisclosed. At the time, the smartest people I knew in Moscow, including academics, law enforcement officers, and businesspeople already scrambling to get out, were muttering that the murder was a sign—the “marginal” politics of Chechnya had been normalized in the heart of the Russian capital. “Things will get worse,” these people said. And so they did get worse.

Recordings of the horrific violence had arguably also been normalized. When director Kantemir Balagov included authentic videos of the torture and murder of Russian soldiers in his 2017 film Closeness, Western critics were naturally upset—while Russians didn’t bat an eye. I was in my last months in Moscow when that film came out, and I remember fainting in the theater—I had been given no warning as to what I was about to see—while the rest of the audience didn’t think it was a big deal.

A society where citizens brutalize one another and are brutalized by their own government is inevitably going to commit even greater acts of violence against anyone it perceives as both evil and weaker—remember that Russians initially didn’t count on Ukrainians to resist and are therefore all the more enraged by how their war is going now.

This leads us back to the brutality of the present day. In the video from Ukraine, which was likely filmed last year, due to the foliage present in the video, the perpetrator wears a balaclava as he is being cheerfully egged on by his friends. That these people know to conceal their faces likely means that they’ve done it before or know friends who have. The comparatively small weapon used suggests the desire to prolong the victim’s torture.

Other footage of beheaded Ukrainian soldiers began circulating around the same time. In occupied Popasna last year, the severed head of a Ukrainian POW was placed on a pole.

Russian terrorists fighting in Ukraine think the whole thing is extremely funny and promise more videos like it. Bloodthirsty propagandists such as Anton Krasovsky are meanwhile attempting to excuse it by pointing out that Ukrainians “aren’t people, they’re cosmic trash” or otherwise claiming that the video is staged.

In fact, the plan to terrorize Ukrainians by adopting so-called Chechen methods and using prominent “attack dogs” among Chechens loyal to the Kremlin has been in the works for a while. Some Putinists may find it distasteful and look away, but they are still on board with the overall objective.

If I were to do a forensic analysis of the video and those like it, I could spend many words outlining how the likes of the Wagner Group and other mercenaries are likely responsible. There are times, however, when forensics feels useless. This is a society where barbarism has triumphed and where it sets the agenda.

The idea that Wagner does not represent Russian troops as a whole has, for years, served the Kremlin well. It engenders a kind of plausible deniability. This is not, however, correct. The head of Wagner may be engaged in an on-again, off-again power struggle with regular Russian military officials, but it’s the sort of struggle that Putin finds useful and beneficial for now. Clan wars aid his war machine in that they prevent a challenger from rising up to face him directly. As such, the Russian war machine is doing exactly what it’s meant to be doing—directly aiding Putin and his clutch of friends while making everyone else miserable.

Wagner’s actions result in no accountability. There won’t be any court martials associated with the beheading video and other atrocities. Nobody is going to be punished. Nobody is even that shocked.

Russia doesn’t fight wars the way the United States does, and pearl-clutching comparisons to Iraq and whataboutism here are largely useless, too. What is useful is understanding exactly what you are dealing with. Russia is lawless, with zero meaningful oversight of its regular and irregular troops; it is growing more lawless; and it will seek to export its lawlessness at every turn.

And much like the brutality in Chechnya, what we see of Russians’ actions in Ukraine is the tip of a bloody iceberg. Individual tragedies that comprise the collective tragedy of the war will be unearthed for generations to come. Some of the horrors will come to light, and some will not. All are ultimately acceptable to Moscow, which needs a blistering defeat. In any other scenario, its bloody nihilism will never stop.
