Not so much.

I don't feel any more sorry for Ukrainians than I do Somalians, or any other country our military war machine has exploited without ever putting it to a vote.

Neither does Second or Ted or Cap'n, no matter how much they pretend to give a shit about this one because their Legacy Media Masters tell them to.

Falsus in unum, falsus in omnibus

Oh, I agree. But SECOND, THUGR, and CAPON promote that "Ukrainians" (if they follow our anti-Russian narrative) are a Special Class of people. The rest are just ordinary schmucks not worth caring about.

They're so stupid they can't even get their empty virtue signaling right.

“I hate them,” Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy chairman of Russia’s security council, wrote on social media in early June. “They are bastards and scum,” he went on. “As long as I live, I will do everything to make them disappear.”

Luke Mogelson writes:

People in Ukraine sometimes describe the intensity of shelling in simple auditory terms. A place can be “quiet” or “loud.” As the volume increases, so do the chaos, misery, death, and fear. You cannot experience such fatal noise without instinctively grasping its purpose, which is to brutalize psychically as much as physically—to demoralize and stupefy. Nowhere on earth is louder today than the Donbas region of Eastern Ukraine, where Russia has concentrated its forces and its firepower since April, after abandoning its disastrous bid to capture Kyiv. Russian officials, far from being humbled by that ordeal, have insisted on their continued determination not only to seize Ukrainian land and resources but also to punish and terrorize Ukrainians and their supporters. “I hate them,” Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy chairman of Russia’s security council, wrote on social media in early June. “They are bastards and scum,” he went on. “As long as I live, I will do everything to make them disappear.”

When Medvedev posted this statement, I was in Lysychansk—at the time, the easternmost city still under Ukrainian control. Artillery boomed and crashed. Power lines drooped across deserted streets. Not a single shop was open. There was no electricity, gas, fuel, cellular service, or running water. As my translator and I drove through empty neighborhoods strewn with rubble, Medvedev’s desire, here at least, seemed to have been realized. Then, not long after we arrived, we encountered something unexpected: a group of people.

They were loitering outside a fire station on the main avenue downtown. Sheets of plywood covered the broken windows of the red three-story building. A banner reading “prevent, rescue, assist” hung above the entrance. A middle-aged woman with a graying pixie haircut and an incandescent smile introduced herself as Tanya. The incongruity between her circumstances and her disposition became ever more pronounced as she recounted her troubles. She worked as a cleaning lady in a house that had been bombed the previous day. “I’m about to haul some bricks,” she said, her eyes sparkling. “Tidy things up.” She’d come to the fire station in search of food. Two days earlier, a Russian air strike had obliterated a community center where city employees and local volunteers had been distributing humanitarian aid.

“Now there’s nothing here,” Tanya said.

A volley of rockets whistled overhead and slammed to earth nearby, pulverizing concrete. A firefighter opened the door and yelled at us to get inside. Stairs descended to a narrow underground corridor with a dirt floor. It was pitch-black, and during the quiet between explosions you could hear the labored breathing that adrenaline induces. Another rocket shook the walls. Then another. A woman began to weep. “Mother of God, please help us,” she prayed. Ah, a favorite M$M technique: The Snippet. And one that SECOND likes to exploit endlessly.

"Them"?

Who (or what) "them"?

Ukrainian women and children?

Western neocons and warhawks?

Fleas?

Bad shoes?

It's not clear who Medvedev is talking about, or even if he's talking about anything living. But the media just loves them some out-of-context phrases that they can interpret endlessly, and SECOND can quote them endlessly for his propaganda war.

At least Medvedev didn't say he was willing to genocide the entire globe "down to the last 100". Now THAT would have been truly horrific.

Sorry to tell you, but Putin threatened to nuke the world. All he really did is show he is lacking in social grace when dealing with other countries that are more prosperous than Russia -- nuclear armed countries such as France for example. In case you don't understand, France has never threatened to nuke anybody for any reason, unlike Russia which keeps saying many times a month that it will nuke anybody anywhere anytime over any disagreement.

Yep! ANOTHER out-of-context snippet!

Why don't you go back like a good boy and bring here the ENTIRE CONTEXT of what Putin has said? At least make an attempt to LOOK like you're being honest, OK?

It is NOT out of context when Putin says he will nuke the world. I would have to use google translate to see how many Russian words it takes to say "I shall nuke the world" but I'm pretty sure it qualifies as a snippet. The words Putin said before or after he threatened to nuke the world will add no context whatsoever. Putin does not know how to behave in polite company without making death threats to everyone at the party. I bet Putin doesn't get invited to many social occasions outside of Russia. A lesson in courage from Ukraine – July 25, 2022 – The Christian Science Monitor

From left to right, Anastasia Pryhoda, age 15, Yana Stepanenko, age 11, and Kateryna lorgu, age 12, have each faced the trials of war head-on.

Nelson Mandela once said, “Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.”

As a rock climber and war correspondent, the Monitor’s Scott Peterson knows about conquering fear. “When things get difficult,” Scott told me by phone from Kyiv, Ukraine, “it’s important to focus on the job at hand. That doesn’t leave room for fear or doubt.”

Last month, Scott met with three brave girls who were wounded in the Ukraine war. Each exhibits her own kind of resilience and courage.

Yana Stepanenko, age 11, lost both legs in an airstrike. She struggles with memories of the attack and quietly alternates between despair and hope for her future. Kateryna Iorgu, age 12, lost her mother, and her legs were injured in another Russian bombing. She’s walking now, sometimes with crutches, and resolutely rehabbing. And there’s 15-year-old Anastasia Pryhoda.

She drove dozens of carloads of wounded or older Ukrainians to safety. But her rescue missions ended abruptly in May after Russian soldiers opened fire on her car, hitting Anastasia four times.

“She was clearly aware of the dangers and risks and yet able to compartmentalize it and focus on the task at hand,” says Scott, noting that she continued driving for several kilometers while wounded.

As a journalist, Scott says he has to demonstrate courage in bursts. “But most of these girls aren’t leaving the war zone. They’re still living here. I just need to sustain my composure until I leave,” he says.

In late February, many Ukrainians were surprised and inspired by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s open defiance of Russia. His willingness to stay at significant personal risk was also central to the global outpouring of support. “It is breathtaking to witness actual courage. It’s even more breathtaking when that courage is both moral and physical,” wrote conservative American columnist David French on Feb. 27 in The Dispatch. “[Mr. Zelenskyy’s] not just speaking against evil, he’s quite literally standing against evil.”

Today it’s Ukrainians such as Anastasia who are taking a stand. She tells Scott that she intends to go to the Ukrainian military academy. “I could see her in 10 years leading a company of Ukrainian soldiers. She is a self-starter, assertive, and sharp,” says Scott.

Anastasia’s story reminds me of the Fearless Girl statue on Wall Street, hands on hips, staring down a charging bull. In Anastasia’s case, it’s a charging Russian bear. And she’s not backing down.

Ukraine is not alone. Georgia vis-à-vis Russia:

Georgian president denounces Russia’s attempts to annex Georgian territories

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Monday denounced a series of attempts by Russia to annex Georgian territories located in the breakaway region of Abkhazia.

The authorities of Abkhazia, pro-Russian, approved last week the transfer to the territory of the Russian Federation of an official residence and its surrounding territories in the city of Pitsunda, in the northwest of Georgia, on the shores of the Black Sea.

According to President Zourabichvili, this decision of the Abkhazian authorities constitutes "a form of annexation of Georgian territory by Russia", and she has denounced a "continuous occupation" in the region.

"I strongly condemn it and call on the international community to react strongly to this," Zourabichvili said on her profile on the social network Twitter.

Georgia and Russia had a brief war over South Ossetia and the Abkhazia region in 2008. After the conflict ended, Moscow, whose forces prevailed, recognized both regions as independent nations, although the vast majority of countries have not.

What is your point, Signym? Didja ever notice how the Georgian alphabet is unique in the world: it is used only to write Georgian (and, occasionally, some minority languages of Georgia). It has no upper or lower case.

Seven years behind bars in Russia for criticizing the death of children in Ukraine

Moscow councilor Alexei Gorinov is not the only politician to be targeted for questioning Putin’s ‘special operation.’ Under new laws, speaking out has become dangerous for everyone

Javier G. Cuesta, Moscow - Jul 26, 2022 - 11:42 EDT

Moscow opposition councilor Alexei Gorinov has just spent his 61st birthday in jail. His crime? To criticize the organization of an event for Children’s Day in light of the war in Ukraine.

“How we can be discussing a children’s drawing contest for Children’s Day when children are being killed every day?” he said at a filmed council meeting. “I can tell you that 100 minors have died in Ukraine, and other children have been orphaned. These are the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of those who participated in World War II.” This outspoken opinion on the war in March has led Gorinov to be sentenced this month to seven years behind bars.

Just days prior to the meeting held in Moscow’s Krasnoselsky district on March 17, a law had been passed stipulating prison sentences for any Russian “discrediting the Armed Forces” or “knowingly spreading false information.” This law was promptly used against several of the seven politicians who took part in that particular council meeting, all of whom are well-known political figures in Moscow: Gorinov is the first to be jailed under the new law; Elena Kotionochkina, the incumbent president, has fled the country but has a warrant out for her arrest; and opposition activist Ilia Yashin was taken into custody a week ago on account of a video he posted on his YouTube channel concerning the Bucha massacre last March in which 1,300 Ukrainian civilians were slaughtered, and is now looking at years behind bars. Only one councilwoman voted in favor of the children’s contest.

Gorinov was sentenced under Article 207.3 of the Russian Criminal Code, adopted on March 4 which allows for prison sentences of up to 15 years. According to the judge’s 26-page ruling, Gorinov and his colleague Kotionochkina, had misled Russians, triggering “anxiety and fear” about the “special military operation” in Ukraine, a crime driven by “political hatred, disdain, antipathy and aggressiveness towards the organs of power of the Russian Federation.”

The prosecution brought various pieces of evidence against Gorinov during the trial at the Meschhanski district court, including Defense Ministry war logs that defined the Russian action in Ukraine as a special military operation “and did not mention the death of children”; an article published by Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova entitled The Special Operation Is Not the Start of a War, But its Prevention; and the agreements signed by Russian leader Vladimir Putin and the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics in Eastern Ukraine.

On March 17, while the Moscow district was discussing the children’s contest, the UN Human Rights Commission – of which Russia itself is a member – reported that at least 22 teenagers and 36 children had been killed during the offensive in Ukraine, “though the actual numbers are significantly higher.”

The video, which is still available on YouTube, shows Kotionochkina suggesting that her country is on its way to becoming “a fascist state” and proposing the modification of the contest along the lines of “children against the war in Ukraine.”

Gorinov can be seen adding, “I believe all efforts of [Russian] civil society should be aimed only at stopping the war and withdrawing Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine.” Their stance was met with the following response from the one district councilwoman to vote in favor of holding the contest in its original form: “You are obsessed!”

Following Gorinov’s conviction, more than two dozen well-known Russian lawyers and human rights activists published an open letter accusing the new post-invasion law of violating the Constitution. Specifically, they alleged that it fails to recognize ideological and political diversity as the basis of Russia’s constitutional order, according to article 13 of the Basic Law; the freedom to hold and share one’s own convictions – article 28; freedom of thought and speech – article 29; and the prohibition of arbitrary criminal prosecution – article 54.

“You can’t sentence a politician to jail for declaring his position at a meeting,” states Nikolai Rybakov, the leader of Yabloko, one of the few surviving independent parties in Russia, which is calling for the war in Ukraine to stop. “We are trying to continue to bring pressure to bear while we still can, but it’s not easy,” he tells EL PAÍS. “They were killing politicians representing Yabloko for political and human rights activities in the 1990s, including under Boris Yeltsin’s government. This is not new, it’s just the logical continuation of everything that has happened so far.

Whistleblowing

Under the new law, speaking out is dangerous. Independent media such as Novaya Gazeta have had to delete editorials that use the term “war” for what Putin has insisted on referring to as a “special military operation.” Meanwhile, there have been several high-profile cases of whistleblowing. In April, a teacher at a school in Penza, in the center of European Russia, was reported to the police by two students who had secretly filmed her blaming her country when asked why Russian athletes could not compete in Europe.

That same month, Dmitry Bayev, a priest from a small Russian town, fled the country after being arrested and charged for demanding an end to the conflict and for Putin to be brought before an international court. Bayev managed to escape, but another St. Petersburg cleric, Ioann Kurmoyarov, was not so lucky. He has been held in custody since June 7 and could face a prison term for a YouTube video of himself pronouncing that “those who unleashed this conflict will not go to heaven” and “if you are not bothered by what is happening in Ukraine, you are not Christian.”

“You hear about fines and charges being brought against more or less famous people, but there are also a significant number of lesser-known individuals who are being reported,” says the Yabloko leader, Rybakov, who observes that “people are turning to the authorities and accusing others and it is not known what is happening to them.”

The protests at the beginning of the offensive have been largely silenced due to the crackdown under the new legislation. The OVD Info portal, which specializes in monitoring protests, has confirmed 16,380 arrests since February. For its part, towards the end of June, the independent polling center Levada found that barely 55% of Russians follow news on Ukraine, and a large proportion of those who do are elderly.

The outlawing of demonstrations is said to be a measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, despite the fact that the authorities hold mass propaganda events, claiming they are private “festive, sporting or tribute” events, according to Rybakov, who adds that due to the number of arrests already made, “we will only call demonstrations if we know it’s safe.”

In order to tighten the crackdown, Putin passed another piece of legislation regarding foreign support on July 14. Now the Kremlin will not only be able to outlaw organizations or activists receiving funding from outside the country, but also those it considers to be “under foreign influence,” from journalists to NGOs and political parties – anyone and anything that does not support Putin’s Russia. The already extensive blacklist of foreign agents was expanded further last week, a move that prompted actress Tatiana Lazareva to write on Telegram that she felt “finally relaxed” about being part of the club of critics recognized by the Kremlin.

I'm an engineer, 6ix. Nothing is about "caring" with me. That is not how engineering is done. I fired people for embezzlement, for stealing thousands of gallons of diesel fuel or power tools, for being incompetent at their work, for sexually harassing other employees. One was even fired for leaving a bulldozer in an empty storm water retention pond that was filling up. I had to get wet to save the machine before water got into the air filter inlet. That one really pissed me off when the guy who left the machine where he shouldn't would NOT go into the quickly filling pond to get it back out. What a worthless coward he was, afraid of being contaminated by dirty water.

But none of that has anything to do with Putin jailing people who use the word 'war' instead of 'special military operation' or people who contradict Putin's false claims that Putin's military are NOT killing women, children and old men.

Putin's whole pattern of interacting with the material world is offensive to an engineer. As a matter of fact so is your pattern, 6ix. You're a crazy wussy, 6ix, same as the frequently unemployed, dishonest or deliberately misleading Trumptards I know in East Texas.

Estonia’s prime minister has a message for the West: ‘Don’t worry about Putin’s feelings’

July 26, 2022

Sitting in her office in Stenbock House, a well-appointed neoclassical building in the heart of Tallinn’s medieval Old Town, Prime Minister Kaja Kallas wanted to discuss the last 80 years of European history. But she had only 20 minutes. Kallas was intent on sending a message to the rest of the world about yielding to Russian demands on Ukraine.

“I think a fundamental mistake was made after the Second World War,” she said, sitting beneath a painting of Moses receiving the Ten Commandments. “While the Nazi crimes were widely condemned, the communists’ crimes never were. So we see a strong revival of Stalinism right now in Russia. Seventy percent of Russians support Stalin, despite his having murdered 20 million people, despite the deportations, the prisons camps, war, everything. History books in Estonia were rewritten after communism, whereas Russians are still being taught the same history that we had to read during the Soviet period, which was total crap.”

Estonia has so far sent more than $270 million worth of military assistance to Ukraine, the equivalent of more than 30% of its annual defense budget. When considered alongside their humanitarian and financial assistance, the Estonians donated the equivalent of 0.81% of their gross domestic product to another nation at war, a staggering metric.

Kallas is keen to emphasize that security assistance is not charity. "I was asked in Parliament by our far-right party why we’re doing this," she told Yahoo News. "And I answered that Ukraine is literally fighting for us. When Russia is at war with them, they're not at war with us. And we have peace here."

Maintaining that peace is of existential necessity for Estonians, who share an uneasy 182-mile border with a revanchist power currently occupying 20% of Ukraine and threatening to permanently gobble up much, if not all, of that territory. Estonia itself was annexed by the Soviet Union in 1940 when Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler agreed to the mutual carve-up of Eastern Europe under the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.

Until 1991, Estonia remained under Soviet rule. Tens of thousands were killed, imprisoned or deported to Siberia. Among the deportees in 1949 was Kallas’s mother, just 6 months old at the time, who was dispatched in a cattle car along with Kallas’s grandmother to the Russian tundra and raised in exile until she was 10. As Kallas pointed out, thousands of Ukrainian civilians have died, millions have been displaced, including as many as 1.6 million Ukrainians who had been deported to Russia.

In 2004, Estonia joined the European Union and NATO to be firmly in the Western camp and insusceptible to a recurrence of past victimhood — the very ambition that Ukrainians are dying on their native soil to achieve.

Kallas’s sense of history is inextricably wedded to her own genealogy; her family’s suffering can be read in every bullet and flak jacket her government has shipped to Ukraine.

That is as stupid as saying that Ukraine has caused $750 billion in property damage to itself. All that money wasted because Ukraine didn't foresee the economic advantages of surrendering on Day 1 of Putin's invasion. All that money wasted because the nations now in the EU and NATO didn't surrender to the Soviet Union in 1945. All of Europe could now have the peace, happiness, and vibrant economy of North Korea if only the European leaders of 1945 had resigned after appointing Stalin as the new leader of their countries.

Ukraine’s prime minister says rebuilding will cost $750 billion.

6ix, I know where you get ideas even if you think it is your idea. Trump used the phrase America First for his policy in a recent speech. Before Trump there was the America First Committee, a non-interventionist pressure group against U.S. entry into World War II. Thanks to the kind of Congressmen from 1940 who only think of America First, Germany conquered most of Europe and almost conquered Russia. FDR saved Russia, and the UK, despite the objections against helping from certain Congressmen who happen to be from the very same states that today support Trump. The Russians say, today, that help from Lend-Lease was of no importance in defeating Hitler, but the Russians are lying, or stupid, or both. I think both is the provable answer if you compare what Russia has accomplished in the last 77 years to what South Korea has accomplished. Russia and S. Korea have the same size economy. Actually, Russia is smaller! South Korea could wipe Russia off the face of the Earth if South Korea was as obnoxious as North Korea. North Korea only exists because Russian troops grabbed the north half of Korea in 1945, the same thing as Russia is doing to Ukraine in 2022, grabbing half of it to create new nations friendly to Russia.

In 1945, the USA was seriously thinking about nuking Moscow, nukes built for Berlin. Signym, it's you that is lying, in your worthlessness.

Americans and Brits could have ground Germany into hamburger without nukes and without any help from the Russians who mainly died for their country:

27 million dead Russians. <-- This is what gross incompetence looks like, Signym
7 million German dead.
419,400 American dead. <-- This is what competence achieves, fighting in the Pacific and Europe.
450,900 UK dead.

Russians have threatened, for the one thousandth time, to nuke the world this week because they are aware they almost got nuked in 1945 and should have been, considering how little Russia has accomplished in the last 77 years, almost as little as North Korea. North Korea also threatened to nuke the world, this week. N. Korea and Russia are peas in the pod, but then North Korea would not even exist without Russia invading in 1945, stealing the land after Japan abandoned Korea because Japanese Army couldn't be resupplied since the Americans destroyed the supplies.

Don't plan a war because you understand nothing correctly, Signym. You don't even recall that Finland beat Russia, twice. Then Finland besieged Leningrad. Then Finland beat the Nazis. Finland knows how to fight a war and win without millions of causalities. Russians don't have a clue how to fight without sacrificing themselves for no gain. After WWII, Finland grew to be rich and happy. Russia? Not so rich, not so happy, because there is something inherently wrong with Russians. Russians, compared to the Finns, are stupid.

Signym, if the Russians had NOT gotten their factories moved out of the range of the German Army, there would have been 108 million dead Russians, not 27 million. If America had moved faster on the A-bomb, it would have been Berlin and Hitler, not Hiroshima and children, who were the first to die from A-bombs. And if America had A-bombed Germany, Russia would have been next, unless it retreated from Europe.

It took just 27 months to build the first A-bomb. In Aug. 2, 1939, Einstein signed a letter addressed to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, warning that the Nazis might be developing nuclear weapons. Too bad FDR didn't get the Manhattan Project moving sooner. WWII could have ended 28 to 36 months after Aug. 2, 1939. At the 36 month mark, in Aug 1942, Russia was losing against Germany. The Battle of Stalingrad (August 1942 – February 1943) was a stupid, unnecessary battle because of Hitler's ego. The symbolism of capturing the city that bore the Soviet leader’s name evidently weighed in Hitler’s decision to divert forces en route to Baku to the siege of Stalingrad.

You already predicted Russia would conquer Ukraine. Will it be soon, I hope? Because what actually is happening is Russia destroying a $1 trillion worth of Ukrainian property. It would have been so much better for Russia if it had stayed home and gone about its business of building its own country, rather than either stealing somebody's land or destroying what Russia can't steal.

Signym, don't you dare repeat the lie that Russia had to attack Ukraine before NATO used Ukraine to attack Russia. NATO doesn't need Ukrainian territory to launch an attack on Russia. NATO already has five nations on Russia's border. A sixth nation will not make a difference. But there is a nation that can make a difference: Finland will be in NATO and on Russia's border, and has beaten Russia to death in several wars and during the Siege of Leningrad. Does Russia need a therapeutic beating by Finland?

Russians need a reminder from the Finns that Russians are best at dying for their country, being better at that than anybody else in the world.

Russians forget, but Finland didn't forget the Winter War:

126,875–167,976 dead or missing Russians
188,671–207,538 wounded or sick Russians
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_War

Finns say, "So many Russians! Where will we bury them all?"

Asked what had been gained, one Soviet general replied, “We have won enough ground to bury our dead.” Stalin characteristically reacted in Draconian fashion, wasting little time in assigning blame and punishments.

https://www.airforcemag.com/PDF/MagazineArchive/Documents/2012/Septemb
er%202012/0912finland.pdf

Signym, the Russians tried again. It went worse the second time in the apply named Continuation War:

250,000–305,000 dead or missing Russians
575,000 medical casualties (including 385,000 wounded and 190,000 sick) Russians.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuation_War

Russian soldiers are the best in the world at dying for their country.

Russian civilians match their soldiers. The Siege of Leningrad killed many more Russians than died during the invasion of Finland:

1,017,881 killed, captured or missing Russians
2,418,185 wounded and sick Russians
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Leningrad#Finnish_participation

The Finnish held the siege line, making sure no Russians got away from their just deserts for invading Finland.

It's not a lie.

Fuck NATO. Double fuck NATO in the ass.

6ix, NATO would knock you unconscious and then carve into your flesh the following words to teach you the difference between Russian myths and hard facts.

Myth 1: NATO promised Russia it would not expand after the Cold War

Fact: Such an agreement was never made. NATO’s door has been open to new members since it was founded in 1949 – and that has never changed. This “Open Door Policy” is enshrined in Article 10 of NATO’s founding treaty, which says “any other European State in a position to further the principles of this Treaty and to contribute to the security of the North Atlantic” can apply for membership. Decisions on membership are taken by consensus among all Allies. No treaty signed by the United States, Europe and Russia included provisions on NATO membership.

The idea of NATO expansion beyond a united Germany was not on the agenda in 1989, particularly as the Warsaw Pact still existed. This was confirmed by Mikhail Gorbachev in an interview in 2014: "The topic of 'NATO expansion' was not discussed at all, and it wasn't brought up in those years. I say this with full responsibility. Not a single Eastern European country raised the issue, not even after the Warsaw Pact ceased to exist in 1991. Western leaders didn't bring it up, either."

Declassified White House transcripts also reveal that, in 1997, Bill Clinton consistently refused Boris Yeltsin's offer of a 'gentlemen's agreement' that no former Soviet Republics would enter NATO: "I can't make commitments on behalf of NATO, and I'm not going to be in the position myself of vetoing NATO expansion with respect to any country, much less letting you or anyone else do so…NATO operates by consensus."

Russia's Plan to Replenish Troops 'Damning' Its Army to 'Failure'

"As it's gone on, the Russians have simply shown very little appetite or inclination to improve," Stavridis said. "That is true not only in the failing logistics efforts, but also they continue these manifest war crimes, their battle plans are ridiculously bad as a general proposition."

"We were briefed that over 75,000 Russians have either been killed or wounded in Ukraine, which is huge. ... Over 80 percent of their land forces are bogged down, and they're tired."

To put 75,000 in perspective, under 2,500 U.S. service members were killed in nearly two decades of war in Afghanistan and less than 21,000 were wounded.

The enemy within: How Russia spread a secret web of agents across Ukraine
July 28, 2022, Reuters reports:

When the first armoured vehicles of Russia’s invading army reached the heart of Chornobyl nuclear plant on the afternoon of Feb. 24, they encountered a Ukrainian unit charged with defending the notorious facility.

In less than two hours, and without a fight, the 169 members of the Ukrainian National Guard laid down their weapons. Russia had taken Chornobyl, a repository for tonnes of nuclear material and a key staging post on the approach to Kyiv.

The fall of Chornobyl, site of the world’s worst nuclear disaster, stands out as an anomaly in the five-month old war: a successful blitzkrieg operation in a conflict marked elsewhere by a brutal and halting advance by Russian troops and grinding resistance by Ukraine.

Now a Reuters investigation has found that Russia’s success at Chornobyl was no accident, but part of a long-standing Kremlin operation to infiltrate the Ukrainian state with secret agents.

Five people with knowledge of the Kremlin’s preparations said war planners around President Vladimir Putin believed that, aided by these agents, Russia would require only a small military force and a few days to force Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s administration to quit, flee or capitulate.

Through interviews with dozens of officials in Russia and Ukraine and a review of Ukrainian court documents and statements to investigators, related to a probe into the conduct of people who worked at Chornobyl, Reuters has established that this infiltration reached far deeper than has been publicly acknowledged. The officials interviewed include people inside Russia who were briefed on Moscow’s invasion planning and Ukrainian investigators tasked with tracking down spies.

“Apart from the external enemy, we unfortunately have an internal enemy, and this enemy is no less dangerous,” the secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council, Oleksiy Danilov, said in an interview.

At the time of the invasion, Danilov said, Russia had agents in the Ukrainian defence, security and law enforcement sectors. He declined to give names but said such traitors needed to be “neutralised” at all costs.

Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigation is conducting a probe into whether the National Guard acted unlawfully by surrendering its weapons to an enemy, a local official told Reuters. The State Bureau of Investigation didn’t comment. The National Guard defended the actions of its unit at the plant, pointing to the risks of conflict at a nuclear site.

Court documents and testimony, reported here for the first time, reveal the role played by Chornobyl’s head of security, Valentin Viter, who is in detention and is being investigated for absenting himself from his post. An extract from the state register of pre-trial investigations, seen by Reuters, shows Viter is also suspected of treason, an allegation his lawyer says is unfounded. In a statement to investigators, Viter said that on the day of the invasion he spoke by phone with the National Guard unit commander. Viter advised the commander not to endanger his unit, telling him: “Spare your people.”

One source with direct knowledge of the Kremlin’s invasion plans told Reuters that Russian agents were deployed to Chornobyl last year to bribe officials and prepare the ground for a bloodless takeover. Reuters couldn’t independently verify the details of this assertion. However, Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigation has said it is investigating a former top intelligence official, Andriy Naumov, on suspicion of treason for passing Chornobyl security secrets to a foreign state.

Finland beating Russia to death?
That's as good as Russia "losing" WWII.
Like I said: un- fuck your brain. It's like a not-so-fun house of mirrors in there.

SECOND: Russians forget, but Finland didn't forget the Winter War:

126,875–167,976 dead or missing Russians
188,671–207,538 wounded or sick Russians
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_War

Knowing how you like to LIE using snippets, I noticed that you failed to mention this little gem (from your source):

Quote:

After the Soviet military reorganized and adopted different tactics, they renewed their offensive in February and overcame Finnish defences.
Hostilities ceased in March 1940 with the signing of the Moscow Peace Treaty in which Finland ceded 9% of its territory to the Soviet Union.

Oh, dear. Official history tells us you are LYING.

Quote:

Signym, the Russians tried again. It went worse the second time in the apply named Continuation War:

250,000–305,000 dead or missing Russians
575,000 medical casualties (including 385,000 wounded and 190,000 sick) Russians.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuation_War

Again, knowing how you like to, er ...LIE ... you failed to mention THESE little gems (from your source)

Quote:

The Continuation War, also known as the Second Soviet-Finnish War, was a conflict fought by Finland and Nazi Germany against the Soviet Union from 1941 to 1944, as part of World War II... On 22 June 1941, Germany launched an invasion of the Soviet Union. Three days later, the Soviet Union conducted an air raid on Finnish cities, prompting Finland to declare war and allow German troops stationed in Finland to begin offensive warfare.

Let's think ... WHO won that war, again?
"Finland", you say?
Once again, your official sources reveal that you're LYING.

Please, unfuck uour brain. It's rotten and spoiled in there.

Russia and Finland are neighbors. Russia has GDP per person that is less than one quarter of Finland's. Is Finland to blame for Russia's relative poverty? No.

Russia and South Korea are neighbors. Russian GDP per person is less than South Korea. Is South Korea to blame for Russia's poverty? No.

You know who has a GDP per person less that Russia? North Korea, which was created by the Russian Army. The Russian Army is pushing Ukraine further into relative poverty, but Ukraine is fighting back, because they know what will happen if Russia wins. It will be the same relative poverty of North Korea vs South Korea:

Russia $12,198 GDP per capita 2021

Finland $54,060

South Korea $34,744

Ukraine $4,567

North Korea $683 (2017)

https://countryeconomy.com/countries/compare/russia/finland
https://countryeconomy.com/countries/compare/russia/south-korea
https://countryeconomy.com/countries/compare/russia/ukraine
https://countryeconomy.com/countries/compare/russia/north-korea

The $1 trillion property damage that Russia has done to Ukraine will certainly make Ukraine poorer in the future than these statistics show.

You Know It Is Getting Bad for Ukraine When PBS Disputes the Propaganda

27 July 2022 by Larry Johnson

Fortunately, I was sitting down when I saw the following video. I had an easier fall to the floor from the sitting position then if I had been standing upright. This is a genuine stunner. A reporter for the PUBLIC BROADCAST SYSTEM– let me repeat that, a PBS reporter on the ground in Ukraine and reporting from the Ukraine side of the fightin –blows up the Ukrainian propaganda that Russia was shelling civilian targets during the sustained bombardments. This is akin to Rachel Maddow admitting the Joe Biden is the Big Guy and on the take from the Chinese. Whoops!

The PBS Newshour (formerly as McNeil/Lehrer back in the old days) is the bastion of Deep State propaganda. As the catechism is to Catholics, the PBS Newshour is to Democrats. So what happened in Ukraine that has caused this shill of the Deep State to do real journalism? The reporter debunks the Ukrainian claim that Russia hit a civilian apartment building. He notes the smell of dead bodies and cites a source stating that the bodies pulled out of this smoldering rubble were soldiers. As he trashes the Ukraine claim he shows video of military shoes, uniforms and decals scattered in the piles of stone and twisted iron.

Take a look:
https://sp.rmbl.ws/s8/2/_/4/B/_/_4B_e.caa.mp4?u=0&b=0

"We've seen evidence that the Ukrainian military did indeed use this area as a base [shots of military boots and fatigues in the rubble] ...
Up to 30, maybe even 40, Ukrainian military soldiers and officers may have been killed here...
A cleaning woman who worked here provided Russia with targeting information for this secret facility"
- Simon Ostrovsky, PBS News Hour

This is NOT Russian propaganda. This is a certified member of the Mainstream Media. He is Deep State approved. And he decides that now is a good time to expose a lie by Ukrainian authorities? This is not an accident. I see it as a signal that the Washington establishment’s enthusiasm for this war and their optimism that Ukraine will prevail is slipping. Remember, PBS depends almost entirely on funding from Uncle Joe Biden, Cousin Chuck Schumer and Aunt Nancy Pelosi.

ROUNDTABLE ON NUCLEAR ARMS WITH CIA AND NUCLEAR ARMS EXPERTS MCGOVERN, POSTOL, AND JOHNSON

This is a well-informed discussion on the history and future of nuclear arms and nuclear arms treaties by CIA who helped create those treaties and by weapons capabalities expert at MIT, Argonne, and Stanford.

If you want to know what nuclear weapons, anti-ballistic systems, cruise missiles and radar systems and satellites can ...and can't ... do, and how that affects nuclear treaties and nuclear policy, this is the discussion to go to. (PS Our "intelligence" and technical "experts" under GWB, Obama, Trump, and Biden are all grossly ignorant of reality.)

Two countries take dissimilar paths. Russia builds A-bombs, threatens to nuke the world, and is poor compared to its neighbor Finland that built no bombs, threatens nobody. Russia's protege, North Korea, threatens to nuke the world and is poor compared to South Korea. The world told Russia and North Korea to stop with the endless threats, but neither country stops, turns around and devotes its efforts toward prosperity rather than war. Russia will be poorer because of its war with Ukraine even if Putin declares Russia "won". Win or lose, Ukraine will be $1 trillion poorer because Russia damaged the property.

Here is how to know who is poor/rich:

Russia $12,198 GDP per capita 2021

Finland $54,060

South Korea $34,744

Ukraine $4,567

North Korea $683 (2017)

America builds A-bombs and actually uses them in warfarre against a civilian population. TWICE..
Why are you hyperventilating about Russia?
I mean, seriously SECOND, why do you keep splattering crap all over the board?
And if you want to compare "pathways", how about the pathway where the USA builds A-bombs (first), uses them (first), constantly threatens the world with them (first), withdraws from all treaties limiting their deployment and use, but apparently suffers no ill-effects from its hyperaggressive nuclear stance?

The biggest threat to world peace is the USA, not Russia.

I found the ROUNDTABLE discussion particularly interesting when they discussed the Aegis Ashore system and why it is a provocation when deployed in Europe, starting at about 1 hour, and what it has to do with Ukraine.

As a (claimed) engineer, SECOND, you should be interested in the technical details of how this system works.

Oh, and BTW... you keep claiming that N Korea is Russia's protege. Russia has no ongoing support or even much trade with N Korea and hasn't had for decades.

Quote:

Kim desperately needed to replace the narrative of weakness after failing to make a widely expected deal with the United States at the Hanoi summit with a narrative of strength, both domestically and internationally. Last week’s summit with Putin allowed Kim to show stature internationally and discuss alternatives to the U.S.-proposed big deal on denuclearization. But he failed to win Russian support for weakening the international sanctions regime.
