Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has called the West an “empire of lies” and accused it of adopting a neo-colonial mindset in its overtures to the Global South to win backing for Ukraine in the war.

Speaking after a week of intense global diplomacy at the annual gathering of world leaders at UN headquarters in New York, where Ukraine and its Western allies sought to drum up support for Kyiv as it fights against Russia’s invasion, Lavrov said a “global majority” was being duped by the West.

“The US and its subordinated collective continue to fuel conflicts which artificially divide humanity into hostile blocks and hamper the achievement of overall aims,” Lavrov said.

“They are trying to force the world to play according to their own self-centred rules.”

During a news conference following the speech, the foreign minister dismissed a 10-point proposal put forward by Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“It is completely not feasible,” he said of the peace blueprint promoted by Kyiv. “It is not possible to implement this. It’s not realistic and everybody understands this, but at the same time, they say this is the only basis for negotiations.”

What is the “completely not feasible, not possible to implement, not realistic” 10-point proposal from Ukraine? Here it is, which makes it obvious that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov snorts cocaine before he answers reporters' questions:

• Radiation and nuclear safety, focusing on restoring security around Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, Zaporizhzhia in Ukraine, which is now Russian-occupied.

• Food security, including protecting and ensuring Ukraine’s grain exports to the world’s poorest nations.

• Energy security, with a focus on price restrictions on Russian energy resources, as well as aiding Ukraine with restoring its power infrastructure, half of which has been damaged by Russian attacks.

• Release of all prisoners and deportees, including war prisoners and children deported to Russia.

• Restoring Ukraine’s territorial integrity and Russia reaffirming it according to the UN Charter, which Zelenskyy said is “not up to negotiations”.

• Withdrawal of Russian troops and the cessation of hostilities, the restoration of Ukraine’s state borders with Russia.

• Justice, including the establishment of a special tribunal to prosecute Russian war crimes.

• The prevention of ecocide, and the protection of the environment, with a focus on demining and restoring water treatment facilities.

• Prevention of an escalation of conflict and building security architecture in the Euro-Atlantic space, including guarantees for Ukraine.

• Confirmation of the war’s end, including a document signed by the involved parties.

Like ALL sources of info, there's at least some bias. I told you he was pro-Ukie, and it's reflected in his headlines. But his geo-located videos are genuine.

So watch the videos, filter out the "Ukraine/ Russia will/ should" speculation/ predictions (most of them don't come true. If you want insight and analysis read Simplicius) and the geo-located videos themselves will paint their own picture.

Or, keep splattering crap.

Signym, analyze these two sentences:

1) "I told you he was pro-Ukie, and it's reflected in his headlines." - Signym

2) "Zelensky has promised Western investors 3 cities by the end of this year if he wants to maintain funding in 2024." - Military Summary Channel

Signym, sentence 2 is anti-Ukrainian in the extreme, the exact opposite of what you claim. Can you not see how badly you misunderstand simple things, Signym? Almost forgot: Zelensky did NOT make the promise in sentence 2, but then again, Kissinger did NOT write the sentence that is your signature. Signym, you will continue badly misunderstanding that simple thing, too.

Both sides have refrained from using armored vehicles extensively due to the presence of minefields, the high density of artillery fire, and the presence of portable anti-tank weapons, according to Kyrylo Budanov, the Chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.

In addition to this, the active use of FPV (first-person view) drones is a significant factor, as they are capable of targeting armored vehicles by kamikaze crashing into the vehicle and then exploding.

"All of those above-mentioned factors reduced the possibility of using armored equipment in practically all of the main directions to the minimum. Now that hardware is only used for evacuation or to swiftly transport infantry teams to a particular spot but it doesn't take part in the fighting," concluded Budanov.

A Russian insider source argued that the Russian military should reintroduce military officers for political affairs (zampolits) to address the Russian military’s problems with political and ideological commitment — a problem that Russian military thinkers identified in September 2018.

The insider source claimed that GRU political officers are using an outdated “Soviet template” to conduct information operations against the enemy and are failing to provide political support to Russian military personnel.[42] The insider source noted that Russian political officers must resolve the contradictions between senior Russian political leaders‘ slogans and reality to ensure that military personnel can distinguish between possible and impossible objectives. The insider source claimed that Russian military-political work encourages blind repetition of phrases and orders, which prevents Russian military personnel from understanding and communicating Russian political decisions to their subordinates or explaining contradictions in political leadership messaging.

Chairman of the Russian State Duma Defense Committee Colonel General Andrey Kartapolov identified similar issues in his September 2018 essay justifying the creation of the Russian Military-Political Directorate.[43] Kartapolov stated that Russian military-political leadership should adapt Soviet structures to new content. Kartapolov also argued that Russia must ensure the “information protection” of military personnel and create a stable conviction in both the military and broader society about why they must serve Russia.

This insider’s argument suggests that the Russian military has not solved the problem that Kartapolov identified over the past five years.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy - who commands a battalion of neo-Nazis - honored an actual WWII Nazi with a standing ovation on Friday.

Yaroslav Hunka, 98, fought in a Third Reich military formation accused of war crimes.

On Friday, he was honored during a session of Canadian parliament in which Zelenskyy addressed the lawmakers to thank them for their support since Russia invaded Ukraine, saying that Canada has always been on "the bright side of history."

Hunka stood for standing ovation and saluted, [Was it a Nazi salute?] according to Canadian television.

The only time I can remember when Budanov wasn't lying was when he almost took credit for assasinations of civilians in Russia.

This time, he's projecting Ukraine's difficulties on Russia.

Russia isn't using many tanks or armored vehicles bc those are primarily used for attack. Since Russia is playing defense, not much armor is being used.
Also, Ukraine doesn't have much artillery munitions left, and what they have is mostly cluster munitions, which are less effective against armored vehicles. Scratch that "high density of artillery fire" off the list. (So Ukraine fires their cluster munitions into civilian areas like Topmak. See today's Military Summary Channel.)

What astonishes me,SECOND, is the amount of time you spend trolling the Internet for crap, only to splatter it here.

Don't you have wells to dig, or a business to run, or trash to take out for your mom, or something?

Neocon v neocon

Alexander Mercouris of The Duran brought up an article in The Economist which appears to be part of an ongoing, semi-public argument between two neocon fractions about "the Ukraine solution".

One idea, which I brought up before, is the "land for cease fire" proposal where Russia gets to keep the land it currently holds (not recognized by the west) in order to freeze the conflict. Meanwhile, "real" Ukraine gets security guarantees from the west and an open path to EU/NATO membership. Sounds like a sweet deal for Zelenskiy but he's having none of it- at least, not publicly. (Maybe he's worried about the Bandera neo-Nazis nailing his hide to a wall?) And then Russia feels it got hoodwinked that LAST time Ukraine offered a cease fire. They even withdrew their troops from around Kiev, only to have the initialled agreement get torn up by Zelensky, at BoJo's insistence. So - totally unaccpetable to Russia. (That's what we get for being "not agreement capable"! Karma sure sucks, doesn't it?)

Well, now there is an equally unrealistic proposal in The Economist, which Alexander believes represents the uber-neocons: Ukraine gives up on its land offensive and goes into defense (behind what fortifications? I wonder), and instead launches a missile and drone offensive against Russia. Meanwhile, Ukraine rebuilds it's economy (ahem! With the 'help' of the Clinton foundation?? I wonder if that will work as well as it did for Iraq dn Haiti???) and becomes Fortress Ukraine.

So we have two neocon proposals, both equally unrealistic. Perhaps the CFR/Sullivan wing versus the Nuland wing? Or maybe the Biden* wing versus the Clinton wing.

A few thoughts-

The DNC would probably LOVE to scrape Biden* off. With him not a candidate, they can avoid the issue of his obvious infirmity, and throw him under the bus along with his failed-policy baggage. And with a new candidate they can pretend to have new-all-new policies, even if they intend to follow the same old ones.

Poor Jake Sullivan. His tenure is as long as Joe's, and as much as he would like to solve the Ukraine problem, he can't solve the Biden problem either.

And then there's the neocons(v1.0) versus the neocons(v2.0) issue, both of which are in la-la land

And I've heard the CIA is none too happy with either the neocons or the DIA.

Biden himself seems to be reflexively an intransigent neocon, with the intransigient neocon wing, altho given diminished capacity it could just be the irritability of an old confused man.

Putin Is Worried, So He Turned to Anti-Semitism
By Leon Aron

His recent rhetoric targeting Jews suggests that his grip on power may be loosening.

September 24, 2023, 7:30 AM ET

After Joseph Stalin died in 1953, an underground joke from my Moscow youth declared, the Politburo found three envelopes on the Soviet dictator’s desk. The first, inscribed “Open after my death,” contained a letter telling his successors to place his body next to Lenin’s in the Red Square Mausoleum. “Open when things get bad,” read the second envelope, and the note inside said, “Blame everything on me!” The third envelope, marked “Open when things get really bad,” commanded, “Do as I did!”

Things must be really bad for Russian President Vladimir Putin, because he is resorting to one of Stalin’s preferred ways of holding on to power: appealing to anti-Semitism. Recently, Putin has made a series of remarks dwelling on the fact that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is Jewish. And in a discussion at an economic forum earlier this month, Putin mocked Anatoly Chubais, a half-Jewish former Kremlin adviser who fled Russia after its invasion of Ukraine last year and is reportedly living in Israel. “He is no longer Anatoly Borisovich Chubais,” Putin said, using his former aide’s first name and patronymic. “He is Moshe Izrayilevich, or some such.”

As a scholar who has been studying Soviet and Russian politics for decades; who discusses that subject regularly with friends, family members, and professional colleagues; and who keeps tabs on what Putin’s critics say about him, I cannot remember him publicly trafficking in anti-Semitism before now. Indeed, his seemingly benevolent attitude toward his Jewish subjects made him unusual among Russian leaders. For more than a century until 1917, Jews in the Russian empire were confined to the Pale of Settlement, mostly in what today is Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, and Lithuania, and were terrorized by periodic pogroms. Early in the 20th century, the czar’s secret police propagated (and are widely suspected of sponsoring) The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a vicious anti-Semitic forgery that purported to expose a Jewish conspiracy to take over the world and has inspired generations of violent anti-Semites.

Stalin capitalized on that history to consolidate his own control of the Soviet Union. Beginning in the late 1940s, after 20 million Soviet citizens had died in World War II and millions more were starving and homeless, he unleashed a national anti-Semitic campaign, complete with the frenzied unmasking of “rootless cosmopolitans”—whom everyone understood to be Jews—in newspapers. Well-known members of the Jewish Anti-fascist Committee, formed during the war to organize international support for the Soviet military effort, were arrested, tortured, and executed. In what became known as the “Doctors’ Plot,” a predominantly Jewish group of physicians ministering to the Kremlin leadership was accused of poisoning or deliberately mistreating patients; the medics were tortured, some to death, to extract “confessions.” During that period, tens of thousands of Jews were fired from their jobs, and even graduates of prominent educational institutions became unemployable. (My mother, just out of the Moscow Medical Institute No. 2, was among them.)

Putin’s recent rhetoric has been jarring because, despite everything else he has done, he has not tried to whip up public sentiment against Jews. During his 2005 visit to Israel—the first ever to the Jewish state by a Soviet or Russian leader—Putin had an emotional reunion with Mina Yuditskaya-Berliner, his high-school German teacher, and bought her an apartment in central Tel Aviv. He made Arkady and Boris Rotenberg—two brothers of Jewish heritage who have been among Putin’s judo sparring partners—into billionaire oligarchs.

Although he spoke at the unveiling of two monuments to Russia’s penultimate czar, Alexander III—a notorious anti-Semite who encouraged pogroms—Putin not only refrained from wielding Judeophobia as a political tool but upbraided those who did. He ordered the head of Russia’s Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, to retract a statement by an agency aide who had described the Chabad-Lubavitch ultra-Orthodox movement as a “sect” whose adherents believed in their “supremacy over all nations and peoples.” (The offending official was fired a few months later.) The Russian president apologized in a phone call with then–Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett after Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov opined that some Jews were notoriously anti-Semitic. And even as Russian television and social-media outlets have abounded with mad-dog chauvinists and warmongering propagandists since Russia invaded Ukraine, the Kremlin appears to have embargoed anti-Semitic themes.

At every turn, Putin seeks to legitimize his war in Ukraine by linking it with Russia’s triumph over the perpetrators of the Holocaust. That Zelensky is Jewish obviously complicates that story. In a discussion at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June, the moderator Dimitri Simes invited Putin to explain the issue away.

Putin replied that many of his childhood friends are Jewish, and that they all think Zelensky is not a Jew but a disgrace to the Jewish people. He then recounted, from notes, the details of the execution of a Jewish Ukrainian family during World War II, and showed video clips alleging massacres of Jews and ethnic Poles by Ukrainian nationalists of that era.

Earlier this month, though, Putin’s allusions to Zelensky’s Jewishness grew sharper. The “Western sponsors” of the Ukrainian government, he told an interviewer, had deliberately chosen a Jewish president of Ukraine to camouflage the “antihuman” essence of the Kyiv regime. It’s “utterly despicable,” Putin concluded, to see a Jew covering up the “glorification of Nazism and those who led the Holocaust in Ukraine.” While still purporting to be ridding Ukraine of Nazis, Putin is zeroing in on a flesh-and-blood culprit: The Russians and the Ukrainians are killing one another because of a Jewish schemer.

Last week, Putin found another target: Chubais, his former special envoy to international organizations, who walked off his job a month after the invasion of Ukraine. After some meandering, Chubais, whose mother is Jewish, landed in Israel (which does not require entry visas for Russian citizens), along with tens of thousands of other Russian immigrants. Initially, his departure caused nary a ripple. Yes, Chubais quit on his own accord, the Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said in March 2022, adding, “As to whether he left Russia or not, that’s his personal business.”

Not anymore. Why did Chubais run off to Israel? Putin mused last week, employing a derisive word, udral, that translates to something like “absconded.” Why is he “hiding” there? And by the way, Putin went on: Although no criminal charges have been brought against Chubais, “a huge financial hole” has been uncovered in the state nanotechnology corporation, Rusnano, which Chubais headed until 2020.

Russians steeped in anti-Semitic tropes could effortlessly read between the lines: A cowardly and probably thieving Jewish bureaucrat had bolted, abandoning the motherland in its hour of tribulation.

Political anti-Semitism—that is, the kind promulgated and encouraged by the authorities—is never just about Jews. It portends rot and insecurity at the top of a government, signifying the need to distract, obfuscate, shift the blame. By twisting Zelensky’s Jewishness into a cause of war and portraying Chubais as a craven deserter, Putin is also revealing the Kremlin’s growing anxiety about its grip on power.

He keeps sinking deeper into the quagmire of a war he cannot win and cannot walk away from. The Wagner mutiny debunked the official myth of national unity in the face of the alleged “Western aggression” against the motherland. To the extent that Putin has a genuine personal aversion to stirring up anti-Semitism, his political needs are now urgent enough for him to overcome it.

In the mosaic of militaristic tyranny that Putin has been assembling, one major tile had been notably missing. He has now begun putting it in place—reviving not only a defining feature of the Stalinist state but also a distinctly ugly part of Russian history.

From Wall Street Journal: Russia’s war machine is adapting at home as well, managing to sustain and even increase defense production of some items despite sanctions.

Western officials thought Russia could produce about 100 tanks a year, but the actual tank production is closer to 200 a year now, according to a Western defense official. However, the official said Russia had lost more than 2,000 tanks, which he said would take it a decade to make up.

The West thought Russia might be able to produce about one million artillery shells a year, the Western defense official said. But now it believes Russia is on a path over the next couple of years to produce two million artillery shells annually. To put that in perspective, he said, Russia fired 10 to 11 million shells last year . . .

Russia Appears Ready To Accept Crimea as Ukraine's — On One Condition

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has appeared to back the territorial integrity of Ukraine agreed upon after the break-up of the Soviet Union when Crimea was internationally recognized as part of the country Moscow has invaded.

Ukrainian social media users noted Lavrov's response at a press conference on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on Saturday when asked whether Russia will "recognize the sovereignty of Ukraine."

Russia illegally annexed Crimea in 2014, and Kyiv has repeatedly stated that one of its war aims is the recapture of the occupied peninsula, which has been the scene of a series of recent high-profile strikes conducted by Ukrainian forces.

Lavrov said that in 1991 Moscow "recognized the sovereignty of Ukraine on the basis of the Declaration of Independence, which it adopted upon leaving the USSR," in which Crimea was considered to be under the control of Kyiv.

He said that the declaration "contained a lot of good things," which formed part of Ukraine's constitution, including protecting minority rights and the status of the Russian language.

"One of the main points for us was that Ukraine would be a non-aligned country and would not enter into any military alliances, Lavrov said. "Under those conditions, we support the territorial integrity of this state."

This reiterates one of the Kremlin's justifications for its invasion, namely the alignment of Kyiv towards NATO and the encroachment of the alliance on Russia's borders.

Lavrov then repeated Kremlin rhetoric about American interference in Ukraine in a "coup" in 2004 and said that in 2014 Crimea "joined" Russia following a referendum, the results of which have been condemned internationally. He also claimed Kyiv instigated the war in the Donbas.

"We have no problems with the territorial integrity of Ukraine. It was destroyed by those who carried out and supported the coup, whose leaders declared war against their own people and began to bomb them," Lavrov added, according to a transcript of his comments on the Russian foreign ministry website.

"Surprise, surprise! Russia recognizes the territorial integrity of Ukraine within the framework of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of July 16, 1990," wrote Ukrainian internal affairs adviser Anton Gerashchenko on X (formerly Twitter), next to a video clip of the comments.

Gerashchenko added that the declaration "also mentions twice the inviolability of the borders of the Ukrainian SSR," which as "a sovereign national state is developing within its existing borders."

"The territory of the Ukrainian SSR within its existing borders is inviolable and cannot be changed or used without its consent," he added.

Maria Drutska, who works in Ukrainian foreign affairs, posted on X: " I hope this nonsense didn't fly with the Western audience. Although it's interesting, if you respect Ukraine's integrity so much, give Crimea back to us?"

Lavrov also used the press conference to accuse the West of "de facto" fighting against Moscow in Ukraine, and referred to Western military equipment supplied to Kyiv.

Newsweek has contacted the Ukrainian foreign ministry for comment.

What U.S taxpayers are getting for their money in Ukraine
By Holly Williams, September 24, 2023 / 7:00 PM

While in Kyiv, we learned that three of McCain's former colleagues were also in town: Democratic Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Richard Blumenthal and Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham. They don't normally agree on much – together, though, they're some of the staunchest supporters of U.S. funding for Ukraine's resistance.

Sen. Lindsey Graham: They're on track to break the Russian army, and the only way they could possibly lose is if we pull the plug on them.

The wreckage of Russia's war machine was on display for Ukraine's Independence Day celebrations – even as almost a fifth of the country remains under occupation.

Sen. Lindsey Graham: People ask me, "Is it worth it?" Here's what we've gotten for our investment. We haven't lost one soldier. We reduced the combat power of the Russian army by 50%, and not one of us has died in that endeavor. This is a great deal for America.

Holly Williams: You've previously said that it's the best money we've ever spent. That still true?

Sen. Lindsey Graham: Since we helped Churchill stand up to the Nazis.

Putin’s allusions to Zelensky’s Jewishness grew sharper.

Ukrainians kill Russian soldiers in retribution for Russians murdering 4,000,000 Ukrainian civilians. That is not war-mongering. It is justice and payback for Russians again on a new murder rampage against Ukrainians.

Why would US citizens take a side in a long-standing conflict between Russia and Ukrainians? Because Russian threats to nuke the US caused the US to spend over $10 trillion on nukes deterring Russians from carrying out the threats. The US is even now spending far more per year on deterring Russia from nuking the US than the Ukraine War costs the US per year.

Do you want to know how much the US spends on nuclear forces per year? Then google it and be amazed at the cost:

US citizens did NOT support those wars. Although the Constitution requires Congress to declare war, Congress didn't declare war in any of those cases because citizens did NOT support it. The last time Congress declared war was in 1942 against Romania. Everything since has been Presidents getting away with murder because Congress could not make a direct and straightforward decision to stop a President.

The upside down world of Russia where the criminals want their judges arrested.

Russia Issues Arrest Warrant for Hague Court Judges
By Isabel Van Brugen On 9/25/23 at 7:22 AM EDT

Russia has added International Criminal Court (ICC) President Piotr Józef Hofmanski to its wanted list, months after the court accused President Vladimir Putin of the illegal deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia.

Hofmanski, his deputy, Luz del Carmen Ibáñez Carranza, and Judge Bertram Schmitt are "wanted under the Criminal Code," independent Russian news outlet MediaZona reported on Monday, citing the online database of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"Hofmanski Józef Jozef, Polish. Wanted under an article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the Russian interior ministry said on its online database, without elaborating on the allegations against him.

Russia has issued arrest warrants for several judges, including ICC Judge Tomoko Akane, who was placed on its wanted list in late July. ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan was added to the wanted list in May.

Signym, you are so silly. Americans lie on surveys. You find out what an American really believes by what they do, not what they say. That is the reason why the US was forced to switch to an all-volunteer Army since 99% of them don't actual support war. They say they support it, but not enough to join the fight or send their spouse or children or grandchildren to war. The US military is not able to reach its recruitment goals because too many Americans don't support war.

Too many in Congress don't support war. That is why Congress hasn't declared war since 1942. That's why few in Congress were ever in battle. Reserves? Yes. National Guard? Yes. A lawyer in the military? Yes. Fight? No. They won't risk their lives before they joined Congress and they won't risk losing an election over war now that they are in Congress.

'Air Regiment Leaders' Killed as Drone Self-Destructs on Russian Airfield

By Brendan Cole On 9/25/23

Russian officers were among casualties caused by a Ukrainian unmanned aerial device (UAV) that landed on a military airfield and exploded upon inspection, it has been reported.

Ukrainian intelligence sources said that a drone exploded on the runway at the Khalino airfield less than 5 miles from the city of Kursk, which hosts Russia's 14th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment as well as Sukhoi Su-30SM fighter aircraft.

After the Ukrainian drone had apparently landed "safely" on the runway, officers from Russia's Air Force and its main intelligence service, the FSB, examined the device, RBC Ukraine reported on Monday.

"When the delegation tried to examine the 'trophy' UAV, there was a detonation," a Ukrainian source told RBC, which said "air regiment leaders" were among the casualties.

The outlet reported that among those killed or injured during the explosion were the commander of the 14th aviation regiment, one of his deputies, a group of aviation officers, an FSB officer, and other airfield personnel.

The report did not specify exactly who was killed or injured and Newsweek has emailed the Russian defense ministry for comment on the claims.

The Russian military blogger Boris Rozhin posted on Telegram that there had been "deaths" at the airfield after one of the drones that landed on the Khalino airfield "turned out to have had a 'surprise."

"Previously, the enemy had already used such tactics in the Kherson direction," said that post, which added that several drones had to be blown up after they had landed and that "enemy drones must be handled with care."

The Baza Telegram channel, which is linked to Russia's security services, has reported similar incidents recently. Last week, it said that a drone detonated after it had fallen on a farm in the Voronezh oblast south of Moscow.

The outlet posted images of the device lying in a field near a bus stop in what the Russian MOD said was an attempt to carry out a terrorist attack. It also said a drone discovered in the Kursk regional town of Lgov on September 17, near an inactive oil depot, exploded "40 minutes after its discovery."

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces have started to launch self-destructing drones," Baza reported.

Other drone attacks have reportedly targeted Kursk in the last couple of days, including a local Ministry of Internal Affairs building in the early hours of Monday morning, according to Ukrainian security sources quoted by RBC.

Ukrainian outlets reported that on the weekend, drones had struck Kursk's FSB building as well as an oil facility near the local airfield, prompting Mayor Igor Kutsak to cancel City Day celebrations.

It's true that three of Russia's ships were damaged (one, the Moskva, over a year ago) and a few IL planes were damaged or destroyed. OTOH almost all of Ukraine's air defenses are gone, their fighter jets/ bombers and are almost depleted, they have few helicopters left, and they have almost no more artillery munitions.

It seems that, according to Military Summary Channel, which creates excruciatingly detailed updates on strikes, advances, and losses on BOTH sides, that Ukraine is almost out of tanks and is fielding fewer and fewer drones (maybe they're stockpiling them for a future event) and HIMARS launchers are getting destroyed about every third or fourth day.

Ukrainians in the south are reduced to running their light infantry thru minefields, and took even bigger losses than they did when they charged with western tanks and APCs.

So, this is war. It would be a strange war if Russia took no losses at all. But Ukrainians losses are far higher.

Signym, you are cowardly, lazy, greedy, selfish. How do I know without having seen your life? Every word you write gives away the inner person you are. I can compare your written words to the words spoken by worthless East Texans whose lives I know in excruciating and nauseating detail and you are a perfect match with them. That is how I know you are worthless. I know much about Russians:

Russian Media Rhetoric Could Be 'Incitement to Genocide' – UN

UN investigators probing violations in Ukraine since Moscow's invasion warned on Monday that rhetoric broadcasted by Russian state media could amount to incitement to genocide.

Speaking before the UN Human Rights Council, the head of the investigation team, Erik Mose, voiced concern "about allegations of genocide in Ukraine."

"Some of the rhetoric transmitted in Russian state and other media may constitute incitement to genocide," he said, adding that the team was "continuing its investigations on such issues."

The Norwegian judge heads a three-person Commission of Inquiry, which was created by the Human Rights Council to investigate violations committed since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

In its first full report published in March, the team determined that Russian authorities had committed "a wide range of war crimes."

Mose said at the time that the commission was aware of accusations of genocide, including the forced transfer of Ukrainian children to areas under Russian control, and vowed to investigate.

In his update to the council Monday, Mose lamented a "lack of clarity and transparency on the full extent, circumstances, and categories of children transferred," and said the team was continuing to investigate.

"Whether that will also raise issues of genocide will then be clarified in the course of our investigations," he told reporters.

Brutal Torture

The March report had also determined that Moscow was behind a vast array of other war crimes, including widespread attacks on civilians and infrastructure, killings, torture and rape and other sexual violence.

Mose said on Monday that the commission, which had traveled more than 10 times to Ukraine, was now "undertaking a more in-depth investigation" that "may also clarify whether torture and attacks on energy infrastructure amount to crimes against humanity."

Among other things, he said the team was investigating the cause of the disastrous destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam in Russian-occupied Ukraine on June 6.

The team had also collected more evidence indicating the "widespread and systematic" use of torture by Russia's armed forces, commission member Pablo de Greiff told reporters.

Torture was said to be taking place mainly in detention centers controlled by Russian authorities, and was in some cases so brutal the victims died, he said.

"Not having access to places of detention under the control of the Russian Federation, it is impossible to quantify exactly the number of people that may have died as a result of this practice," he said, adding that it appeared to be "a fairly large number."

List of Perpetrators

Rape and other sexual violence was also widespread.

In the Kherson region, the commission found that "Russian soldiers raped and committed sexual violence against women of ages ranging from 19 to 83 years," Mose said.

Pointing to "the scale and gravity of violations and corresponding crimes that have been committed in Ukraine by Russian armed forces," he emphasized "the need for accountability".

The investigators are in the process of drawing up a list of suspected perpetrators, which "will be in due course submitted to the High Commissioner for Human Rights," he said.

The team, Mose said, has also urged Ukrainian authorities to "expeditiously and thoroughly investigate the few cases of violations by its own forces."

The cases of abuse found on the Ukrainian side largely involved the use of explosive weapons that affected civilian populations and the mistreatment of detained Russian soldiers, the investigators said.

But Mose stressed that there was no comparison to the variety and vast numbers of violations committed on the Russian side.

Blunt ultimatum from Kremlin: Ukraine will either accept Moscow's conditions or cease to exist

The Kremlin has issued a stark warning to Ukraine, stating that the country must accept Moscow's terms or risk ceasing to exist as a sovereign nation.

According to Wiadomosci, Viacheslav Volodin, the Chairman of the Russian State Duma, made this clear in his recent statements, emphasizing Russia's uncompromising stance on the ongoing conflict.

Volodin argued that Western support for Ukraine is causing economic problems in Western countries and predicted financial and demographic disasters for Ukraine if it does not comply with Russia's terms.

He cited statistics claiming that 54% of Ukraine's population has left the country since 2014, suggesting that the nation is on the brink of collapse.

The Russian State Duma Chairman did not mention any crisis in Russia but focused on painting a grim picture for Ukraine's future if it continues to resist Moscow's demands. His statements serve as a chilling reminder of Russia's willingness to escalate the conflict to achieve its objectives.

This warning comes amid ongoing hostilities in Ukraine, which began in 2014 and escalated with a full-scale invasion led by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022.

Despite Ukraine's valiant defense and support from Western countries, the Kremlin's latest threats indicate that Russia is not willing to back down, raising concerns about the future stability of Ukraine and the broader region.

It is pretty hard to fight the "enemy" when there is no combat to point to that Americans are involved in. There are no American soldiers fighting in Ukraine, for example.

How many Americans died in combat in 2022? Zero. 2023? Zero. The last one to die listed at The Fallen was Air Force Lt. Col. James C. Willis, Died June 26, 2021 Serving During Operation Inherent Resolve, 55, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was found dead at 7:30 a.m. June 26 at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, according to a U.S. Air Forces Central news release. The noncombat-related incident is under investigation.

Before this last death? There was Army Staff Sgt. Casey J. Hart
Died June 8, 2021 Serving During Operation Inherent Resolve, 42, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, died June 8, 2021, at Walter Reed Medical Center in Maryland after suffering a medical emergency May 9 at Al-Tanf Garrison in Syria. Americans are getting killed in Syria and Ukraine. But the ones killed, even those part of the "official" military, aren't supposed to be there, to avoid the appearance of fighting Russian directly. So even tho "secret" bases/ command centers are hit by Russian missiles/ bombs/ rockets/ shells, they will not be acknowledged officially.

And if we're NOT at "war" in so many places, either by proxy or unofficially, why is our DoD budget so huge? Let's just cut the damn thing by 90% and protect our own borders instead of sending our troops all over creation. I think, if our militay was seen a doing something ACTUALLY USEFUL for the USA, recruitment would be up.

1) Signym, you absolutely have no proof backing up any of your claims about Americans (soldiers or CIA) being killed overseas, not even the claim about you being hardworking. You've got nothing.

2) You are implying that the military should be guarding the US border with Mexico and Canada. The border is already guarded, but if your goal is to kill thousands along the border then switching the responsibility to the Army and Marines will end with a massive number of dead aliens.

3) And why does Congress spend $trillions on defense? Because Congressmen want the money spent in their districts. They approve of sending ammo to Ukraine so that even more money than ever before can be spent with defense manufacturers in their home states and Congressional districts.

Apr 28, 2023
The United States spent $766 billion on national defense during fiscal year (FY) 2022 according to the Office of Management and Budget, which amounted to 12 percent of federal spending. Defense spending in 2022 was less than the average for the last decade, which was 15 percent of the budget. Such spending indicates that lawmakers have prioritized national defense as a key part of our budget; indeed, the United States spends more on defense, relative to the size of its economy, than any other member of the G7 (a group of the world’s largest advanced economies, the members of which are shown in the chart below). DOD Releases Report on Defense Spending by State in Fiscal Year 2021
Oct. 20, 2022 |

Today, the Department of Defense's Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation released its Fiscal Year 2021 Defense Spending by State report to help states and communities better understand the components of defense spending on procurement and personnel.

The report's graphs, maps, and tables present a range of findings, such as total spending figures, categories of contracted goods and services, major defense vendors, and numbers and types of defense personnel. This snapshot provides public and private leaders with a starting place to assess how defense investments across installations and the private sector can be optimized by supporting regional innovation, industrial capability and capacity, supply chain resilience, and cultivating a skilled workforce.

"Understanding the depth and reach of our contract spending is essential as we strive to strengthen our defense industrial base," said William LaPlante, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition & Sustainment. "The Department of Defense requires resilient, diverse, and secure supply chains to limit vulnerabilities and ensure the development and sustainment of critical capabilities. This report is a great tool our state and local partners should use to better understand and strengthen supply chains in their regions, which are essential to national security, economic security, and our technological competitiveness and innovation."

Ukrainians in the south are reduced to running their light infantry thru minefields, and took even bigger losses than they did when they charged with western tanks and APCs.

So, this is war. It would be a strange war if Russia took no losses at all. But Ukrainians losses are far higher.

August 11, 2022 - The U.S. House of Representatives today approved the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. The bill includes about $370 billion in clean energy and climate investments over the next 10 years. After passing the Senate on August 7, the bill now goes to U.S. President Joe Biden for his expected signature to enact it into law.

No Republicans voted for spending money on climate change. Not one of them. That's why the amount is so small since Senator Manchin (Democrat - W. Virginia, Coal mining multi-millionaire) would not vote for more. On the other hand, Republicans gladly vote for more than a trillion dollars per year for Defense and the Veterans Administration. That is why Defense gets trillions and climate change gets only billions.

Signym, it is easy to understand that Republicans and Democrat Manchin control spending. It is NOT, I REPEAT, NOT, some "self-reinforcing loop". Congress makes too many crappy spending decisions because Manchin and all Republicans are crappy people.

The Pentagon will be shutting down because the crappy Republicans can't make a decision: Military pay for millions of active-duty service members and reservists could dry up with a government shutdown. “Military personnel will not be paid until such time as Congress appropriates funds available to compensate them for this period of service,” the Defense Department said in a September memo to Pentagon leaders preparing for a potential lapse in spending.

Signym, what percent of Americans wanted to leave because of the war in Afghanistan, the longest war in American history? Zero Percent.

Bleak impact of Ukraine war on Russians laid bare in poll -- 16% Want To Leave

Russians' views of their daily challenges and the future were influenced by their wider political beliefs.

The research split the Russian population into four distinct groups based on their attitudes towards the status quo: Hawks, Loyalists, Moderates and Liberals.

Exactly 84% of respondents wanted to stay in Russia, but 53% of what it called "Liberals" wished to move abroad.

Just over three-quarters of this latter group, who opposed the ruling regime, were worried about potential restrictions on leaving the country, it added.

"Pro-war Russians are mainly satisfied with their life despite the existing problems," the researchers reported.

However, "bursts of anxiety" have started emerging among what it described as "Loyalists" – those who generally agree with the objectives of government, but can question its means.

Understanding to what extent Russians truly support the war is difficult. The Kremlin fiercely represses anti-war dissent.

Critics of the “special operation”, as it is known inside the country, have been subjected to hefty fines, arrests and outright violence, with one Russian father detained for his daughter’s supposed anti-war drawings at school.

Elena Koneva, a researcher at Russia's opinion-polling company ExtremeScan, in May cited polls showing a 50/50 split between those backing the war and those against it.

I would not be surprised if Ukraine becomes Russia's longest war in history, where missiles are fired at Ukraine for many decades. As new missiles are built, the Russians fire them at Ukraine, on and on, year after year, decade after decade. Never admit defeat of the "Special Operation". Glorious triumph awaits Russia somewhere in the distant future when NATO loses member nations Finland, Poland, All the Baltic Countries, etc.

Russia may be prepared to engage in direct conflict with NATO member states, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev suggested on Tuesday.

In a post on his Telegram channel, Medvedev, who is deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, criticized the supply of weapons to Ukraine by its Western allies, suggesting a war could break out over deliveries of Abrams tanks and the potential supply of long-range missiles to Ukraine.

"It seems that Russia is being left with less and less choice but direct conflict with NATO," wrote Medvedev.

NATO has "turned into an openly fascist bloc," said Medvedev, accusing the military alliance of being like Nazi Germany and the Axis powers — a coalition headed by Germany, Italy and Japan—in World War II, "albeit larger."

"We are ready, although the result will be achieved at a much greater cost to humanity than in 1945," Medvedev warned.

Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine's minister of internal affairs, said the former Russian president is "threatening the whole of humanity."

It's not the first time Medvedev has insinuated that Russia could attack NATO members for providing Ukraine with assistance. He said in December 2022 that such countries could be "legitimate military targets."

"Today...the main question is whether the hybrid war de facto declared on our country by NATO can be considered to be the alliance's entry into war with Russia? Is it possible to view the delivery of a large volume of weapons to Ukraine as an attack on Russia?" he wrote at the time.

"The leaders of NATO countries keep unanimously squawking that their countries and the entire bloc are not at war with Russia," Medvedev continued. "Yet, everyone is well aware that this is not the case."

He noted that in light of this, the question arises whether NATO allies are legitimate military targets.

According to "the named rules of war," he said, the armed forces of other countries "that have officially entered the war, which are allies of the enemy country, and the objects located on their territory," are considered legitimate military targets.

The dollar values for 116 items are listed in the Inflation Reduction Act Guidebook - Clean Energy

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Yes, $37 billion per year. Compared to about $800 billion per year for DoD.

Once again looking at the cockroach and ignoring the gorrilla.
So, quickly doing the math here ... If we reduced the DoD budget by 90%, that would fund the energy bill and leave ... $683 billion in saved money per year.

Given that we're spending $800 billion per year to waste money, energy, resources, and lives, and only spending $37 billion per year for climate change reduction... where are Congressional/deep state/media priorities?

Stop wasting everyone's time with ludicrous propaganda.

Russia accused Ukraine’s Western allies of helping plan and execute a missile attack on the Russian Black Sea fleet’s headquarters in the annexed Crimean Peninsula last week.

Moscow’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday that Western reconnaissance data, NATO country satellites and spy planes were all used in the attack carried out by Ukraine on the fleet’s headquarters.

“There is no doubt that the attack had been planned in advance using Western intelligence means, NATO satellite assets and reconnaissance planes and was implemented upon the advice of [United States] and British security agencies and in close coordination with them,” Zakharova said at a briefing.

“The obvious aim of such terrorist acts is to divert attention from the failed attempts of the counteroffensive by the Ukrainian armed forces and to frighten people, to stir up panic in our society,” she said.
