Ukraine is putting pressure on fighting-age men outside the country as it tries to replenish forces

By Jill Lawless, Illia Novikov | April 25, 2024

Ukraine is seeking to reverse the drain of potential soldiers from the country, announcing that men of conscription age will no longer be able to renew their passports from outside the country.

The Cabinet of Ministers said Wednesday that men between 18 and 60 who are deemed fit for miliary service will only be able to renew their passports inside Ukraine.

Millions of Ukrainians have fled the country since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, mostly to neighboring European countries. The European Union’s statistics agency, Eurostat, says 4.3 million Ukrainians are living in EU countries, 860,000 of them men 18 years of age or older.

The defense minister of Poland, home to one of the biggest Ukrainian diasporas, said the country was ready to help “in ensuring that those who are subject to compulsory military service go to Ukraine,” though he did not specify how.

Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said “Ukrainian citizens have obligations towards the state.”

But Ukrainian opposition lawmaker Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze, who heads the Parliamentary Committee for Ukraine’s European Integration, said denying military-age men access to consular services could lead to “well-founded” legal challenges at the European Court of Human Rights.

“I think that these actions will only push an enormous number of Ukrainians to look for different ways to obtain citizenship from other countries,” she said.

Russia’s population of almost 150 million dwarfs Ukraine’s 38 million, and Moscow can draw on a much bigger army. Earlier this month, Ukraine lowered the conscription age from 27 to 25 in an effort to bolster the size of the military.

Funny, let me remind you how you would boast about Russia controlling the black sea. That because of Russia, America and Britian were afraid to go there. The fact is, they are afraid to go there. Ukraine who doesn't have a navy, chased Russia out.

Too funny...

Ukraine's military reported another 1,040 Russian troops "eliminated" between Wednesday and Thursday, which if accurate would make that 24-hour period the deadliest for Moscow's forces since 1,050 were reported eliminated on March 22.

The latest toll brings the total number of Russian casualties claimed by Kyiv since February 2022 to 462,980. The figure is higher than U.S. estimates, which as of February were at around 315,000 Russian troops dead or wounded.

The Ukrainian military on Thursday also reported another 13 tanks destroyed for a total of 7,255 since February 2022, another 28 artillery pieces for a total of 11,836, and one more air defense system for a total of 772.

Since WWII killed tens of millions of Russian soldiers, beyond the civilian death toll, Ukraine will have to increase the kills per day, or else Russia will overwhelm them with new births of soldiers. Putin is asking Russian women to have at least 8 children.

There was a whole back and forth about how Russia, according to you, shut down the Black Sea.

As for Russia taking on NATO, too funny. Watch how things change now that Ukraine has Ammo again. And I'm thinking China is going to fall in line and stop helping Russia with what it needs to build up, I should say, rebuild its army. We both know Ukraine destroyed it.

Signym, Russia is fighting impoverished Ukraine, which is begging NATO countries for ammo. The beggar Ukrainian forces have previously prevented Russian forces from making important gains during previous large-scale offensive efforts in Ukraine, and it is unlikely that Russian forces will conduct an offensive operation this summer that is significantly larger and more intense than their previous offensive efforts.[6]

The Financial Times reported that a Western official stated that the Russian military is still an ineffective army characterized by old equipment and poorly trained soldiers and asserted that Russian forces have not improved since starting the invasion in February 2022.[7]

Judging Russian military effectiveness on the absolute quality of Russian forces ignores how Russian forces are leveraging their temporary relative advantages over Ukraine to place Ukrainian forces under increasing stress. The Russian military is facing constraints on the amount of modern and effective equipment that it can and will be able to deploy in Ukraine, and the overall combat effectiveness of Russian formations and units continues to decline as they suffer degradation in Ukraine.[8]

Russian forces are in part relying on their quantitative advantages in equipment and manpower to place consistent and increasing pressure on Ukrainian forces, however, and the Russian military is accepting losses that Ukrainian forces could not sustain.[9]

The Russian focus on mass, regardless of quality, has supported tactical Russian gains, especially as delays in Western security assistance have degraded Ukraine’s qualitative advantages over Russian forces, and Russian forces will likely use mass to achieve tactical advances against even well-provisioned Ukrainian forces this summer.[10]

NATO has been arming Ukraine since 2014.
We gave Ukraine all of the weapons we thought it would need, that along with our "sanctions from hell" would create a crisis and regime change in Russia.

Well, it didn't work bc people like you, but in power, completely misperceived Russia. You believed your own propaganda, which is never a good way to win a war.

Now NATO is tapped out, and the USA is having to choose between arming and funding Ukraine, Israel, or Taiwan.

****

Blinken visited China a few days ago to warn them to stop supporting Russia, or else Chinese banks would face sanctions.
China is being accused of "influencing" our elections.
Taiwan is being armed as part of that recent set of military aid.

Tell me if you've heard that story before!

Sounds like the deep state wants to recreate the whole Ukraine proxy-war- against Russia fiasco, but this time with Taiwan v China.

Either that, or they just want to make a lot of noise in that arena to distract from the clusterfuck that is Ukraine.

It's hard to tell what these bozos will do next, bc they -like you- are delusional.

At the very beginning of the war, Ukraine asked for a No Fly Zone over Ukraine. It didn't get that. Ukraine asked for F-16s. It has received none. That is not because Ukrainians can't fly them without training nor because F-16s are rare. There are thousands of F-16s in the world. Ukraine asked for long-range weaponry that could reach Crimea. Didn't get that either. Ukraine asked for millions of artillery shells per year. That is a little more complicated because factories must be built to produce the shells. Years have passed but those factories have not been built despite the obvious need.

The formulation to describe the situation is that the West does not want Ukraine to lose but the West also does not want Russia to lose because that might usher in someone less rational than Putin. The West is very clearly okay with a stalemate.

Instead of F-16s, what is the US providing Ukraine?

US buys 81 Soviet-era combat aircraft from Russia's ally costing on average less than $20,000 each, report says

ssian-ally-20k-2024-4

The US has acquired 81 Soviet-era combat aircraft from Kazakhstan, the Kyiv Post reported.

Kazakhstan, which is upgrading its air fleet, auctioned off 117 Soviet-era fighter and bomber aircraft, including MiG-31 interceptors, MiG-27 fighter bombers, MiG-29 fighters, and Su-24 bombers from the 1970s and 1980s.

The declared sale value was one billion Kazakhstani tenge, or $2.26 million, said the Post.

The US purchased 81 of the aged warplanes, said the Ukrainian Telegram channel Insider UA, per the Post.

The motive behind the US purchase remains undisclosed, said the Post, but it raised the possibility of their potential use in Ukraine, where similar aircraft are in service.

The sale was made through offshore companies, said Reporter, a Russian English language news site.

Given Ukraine's continued reliance on Soviet-era weapons, the aircraft could either serve as a source of spare parts or be strategically deployed as decoys at airfields, said the Post.

So ...

Why didn't the USA and NATO supply weapons that could directly attack Russia or Crimea? (At least, not at first.)

They assumed it wouldn't be necessary:

Russia was only a gas station masquerading as a country.
Russians were only semi-civilized orcs.
The Kremlin was run by oligarchs who would turn on Putin once they were individually sanctioned.
Western weapons are far superior.
Russians don't know how to wage war.

Yanno, they believed all the nonsense you've been spewing nonstop since this started.

NOW they (we) realize their (our) mistakes, but it's too late.

IF we started our full -bore, we MIGHT have been able to overwhelm Russia. But at this point Russia is still building up a head of steam, and we've run out of gas.

If the West wanted to go beyond that, it could have directly bombed the Crimean Bridge. But the West would not even supply missiles to Ukraine to bomb the bridge, despite much pleading by Ukraine.

The West has never been serious about halting Russia's invasion.

The West doesn't care enough to be effective. Who knows why? Perhaps Europeans are cheese-eating surrender monkeys? Maybe Europeans won't spend more than 2% of GDP on defense because more would interfere with their spending on wine? Europeans won't admit it, but that is probably the truth. Drink one less bottle of wine? Never! Europeans would rather Ukraine lose.

Here is some context for 6ix:

In the last century, Russia killed Ukrainians by the millions. Russia never paid for that. In the last decade, Russia killed hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians. Again, Russia never paid. I didn't even mention that the Russians murdered a plane full passengers. Putin's response was "You can't make us pay for what we did."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malaysia_Airlines_Flight_17

The time has arrived for the Russians to pay from their frozen accounts, even if 6ix says different.

That ain't our fucking business, and the fact that we would even have the power to do that is probably terrifying to the rest of the world. We shouldn't even be able to freeze money outside of US borders, and it should only be used in extreme cases, mostly against large corporations who have done something terribly, terribly wrong to warrant that reaction.

Russia did something terribly, terribly wrong to warrant that reaction: $486 billion to rebuild Ukraine

The World Bank, United Nations and European Commission estimate the cost of reconstruction and recovery after two years of war to be around $486 billion, according to a new joint report.

Ain't our fucking business or our fucking problem. Period.

And don't underline half of my sentence to make your point when the half you didn't underline removes a lot of context from the statement as a whole.

The time has arrived for the Russians to pay from their frozen accounts, even if 6ix says different.

Too few Russians are volunteering to defend Russia. I wonder why? This is why:

The United Kingdom’s (UK) Minister of State for the Armed Forces, Leo Docherty, stated on April 27 that the UK assesses that Russian forces have suffered 450,000 killed and wounded personnel since the start of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022.[72] Docherty stated that Russian forces have lost over 10,000 armored vehicles, including 3,000 tanks, as well as 109 fixed-wing aircraft, 135 rotary-wing aircraft, and 23 naval vessels.[73] US intelligence assessed in December 2023 that Russian forces had suffered 315,000 casualties in Ukraine since February 2022.[74] Russian opposition media outlets Meduza and Mediazona estimated in February 2024 that upwards of 75,000 Russian personnel died in Ukraine between the start of the full-scale invasion and December 2023.[75] Russian forces continue offensive operations in Ukraine despite heavy manpower losses by relying on crypto-mobilization efforts.[76] The Russian military is facing constraints on the amount of modern and effective equipment that it can and will be able to deploy in Ukraine, and the overall combat effectiveness of Russian formations and units continues to decline as they degrade in Ukraine.[77] Russian forces have weathered heavy losses in Ukraine, however, and will continue to rely on quantitative advantages in manpower and materiel to pressure Ukrainian forces.

What is Russia doing to offset too few volunteers defending Russia? This is what:

The Russian government published a resolution on April 28 announcing that the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) will begin to issue electronic summonses through the Unified Military Registry for the fall 2024 conscription cycle starting on November 1.[78] The resolution states that Russian officials will consider an electronic summons served seven days after it is posted on the Russia State Services portal and that if a conscript does not appear within 20 days of the summonses being served, then Russian authorities will block the conscript’s ability to obtain a passport or register as an individual entrepreneur.[79] The resolution also states that Russian officials will collect information on the real estate and vehicles owned by those eligible for military service and information about foreign travel for the Unified Military Registry.[80] Russian officials have delivered limited electronic summonses alongside hard copy summonses during the ongoing spring 2024 conscription cycle.[81] The Russian State Duma adopted the bill creating the Unified Military Registry in April 2023, and the Kremlin likely intends to use the registry to crack down on Russian draft dodgers.[82]

Russian authorities have reportedly formalized a procedure for recruiting those accused of criminal offenses for military service in Ukraine. Russian outlet Kommersant reported on April 27 that Russian criminal investigators, prosecutors, and military commanders are coordinating efforts to recruit those accused of crimes for military service in exchange for dropping their criminal punishment.[83] Russian legal sources told Kommersant that investigators from the Russian Investigative Committee provide those accused of crimes with an ”explanation” document upon the completion of the investigation (presumably when Russian authorities arrest and inform the accused of the crime they allegedly committed).[84] The document reportedly informs the accused whether it is possible for them to obtain an exemption from criminal liability in exchange for military service during partial mobilization or by signing a military contract.[85] The investigator in charge of the case reportedly suspends and terminates criminal prosecution after the accused signs a contract for military service with the approval of the supervising prosecutor and the commander of the military unit in which the accused will be serving.[86] Kommersant noted that Russian authorities will not completely void a criminal case until the Russian military dismisses the accused from military service.[87] Russian authorities are reportedly offering exemption from criminal liability in exchange for military service through Article 398 of the Russian Criminal Code, a previously scarcely-used provision that allows deferment of sentences in “exceptional cases” that Russian courts have been using more frequently since the start of the full-scale invasion.[88] This procedure notably does not require that Russian authorities formally prosecute the accused, and Russian authorities may use these measures to coerce people into military service through accusations with increasingly suspect evidence. Kommersant reported that Russian authorities are already implementing this procedure in occupied Ukraine and Russian federal subjects bordering Ukraine and that Russian authorities are gradually extending it to all of Russia.[89]

Russian GPS jamming threatens air disaster, warn Baltic ministers

https://www.ft.com/content/37776b16-0b92-4a23-9f90-199d45d955c3

Tens of thousands of civilian flights have been affected by the GPS jamming in recent months, according to experts. The jamming, which affects all GPS users in the area when it is in operation, has also impeded signals used by boats in the Baltic Sea, leading to warnings from the Swedish navy about the safety of shipping.

GPS jamming is easy to conduct with relatively cheap equipment, according to experts.

So why is Russia doing this? Nobody seems to know, and Russia denies everything. It's just to be annoying, I guess.

If Russia conquers Ukraine, China will follow the example and conquer Taiwan, where most of the world's electronics come from. All China has to do is send one missile into each of the cleanrooms of semiconductor factories. North Korea will attack South Korea, following Russia's example in Ukraine, since North Korea only exists because Russia set the country into motion. There goes the world's supply of semiconductors.

If Russia can do as it pleases without fear that the USA will retaliate, China and North Korea will know they have nothing to fear.

War in Ukraine: Why is the EU still buying Russian gas?
(Short answer: The EU doesn't care much who wins or loses so long as the gas keeps flowing)

April 29, 2024

https://www.dw.com/en/war-in-ukraine-why-is-the-eu-still-buying-russia
n-gas/a-68925869

In February, Austria confirmed that 98% of its gas imports in December 2023 were from Russia. The government says it wants to break the contract with Gazprom as early as possible, but EU sanctions on Russian gas are necessary for that to happen legally.

According to the data provider Kpler, Russia is now the EU's second-biggest LNG supplier. LNG imports from Russia accounted for 16% of the EU's total LNG supply in 2023, a 40% increase compared with the amount Russia sold to the EU in 2021.

Import volumes in 2023 were slightly down from 2022, but data from the first quarter of 2024 shows that Russian LNG exports to Europe have risen again by 5% year-on-year. France, Spain and Belgium have been particularly big importers. Those three countries accounted for 87% of the LNG that came into the EU in 2023.

The EU says it wants the bloc to be completely free of Russian gas by 2027, a goal that Hilgenstock believes looks increasingly realistic.

"I think if this entire, sordid affair has shown us one thing is that we can, in fact, relatively quickly diversify our supply of gas and other energy sources away from Russia," he said.

However, he believes the political conditions "aren't particularly conducive" for a total gas embargo at present, particularly a pipeline embargo. He points to Hungary's presidency of the EU in the second half of 2024 as a potential barrier. Budapest has closer ties to Moscow than most EU member states.

On LNG, he is more optimistic and says that in addition to EU action, it is up to high-volume LNG importers such as Spain and Belgium to take measures themselves.

"This backdoor importing of Russian gas is a huge problem, especially from a messaging point of view," he said. "And we're helping Russia with its LNG supply chains, which we shouldn't."

Thousands of Russian Soldiers Deserting Army: Kyiv

By Isabel van Brugen | Apr 29, 2024 at 11:15 AM EDT

https://www.newsweek.com/russian-soldiers-deserting-army-ukraine-war-1
895196

The Latvia-based Russian investigative newspaper Novaya Gazeta, which was cofounded by former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, interviewed Russian servicemen who fled the war in Ukraine.

Ivan, who was an officer in the Russian army when Putin invaded Ukraine in February 2022, said he had "tried to quit" before the war began.

"I didn't like the military system and no longer wanted it to be a part of my life. None of my subordinates escaped from the front line, but I sent them on leave as often as I could and the majority simply didn't return," Ivan said in a report published on February 29.

"Sometimes, I talk to soldiers I served with who are still in Ukraine. Their moods vary. Some, who have been on the front line for almost two years, say they feel fine now and wouldn't go even if the opportunity arose."

Ivan said soldiers typically want to leave after being in "unbearable conditions", noting that they first "look for legal routes, and when they see there are none, they run."

"Desertion is as hard as it ever was and it all depends on where the soldier is. To leave the front, he must either be granted furlough or be sent to a hospital, from where he'll leave for another country, legally or illegally," Ivan said, adding that fleeing from the front line is "very dangerous."

"People are fully aware that there are criminal consequences, but that doesn't stop them. Some pretend they are one of the dead or injured; some shoot themselves in the foot to get out to a hospital and then escape from there," Ivan added.

Yeah. All reasons why the plausible futures you propose are pure rubbish.

Even if they weren't, it's not as if South Korea or Taiwan are necessary as far as chip production. That goes for any country on the map making anything that we use.

All of that can be done anywhere.

I woke up this morning to check the news and discovered, to my absolute amazement, that 6ixStringJack does not believe there is a reality beyond the few places he regularly visits. The Dept of Defense should send 6ix the defense money theoretically wasted defending these friendly but imaginary places with strange names such as Ukraine/Taiwan against hostile but imaginary places with strange names such as North Korea/Russia.

All will be well in the world of 6ixStringJack if the Dept of Defense stops wasting time and money in imaginary places and starts believing in the absolute importance of very real 6ixStringJack's opinions.

Investigations by both Ukrainian news agencies and Russian opposition outlets suggest that Russia is denying the legal guardians of forcibly deported and adopted Ukrainian children the ability to repatriate these children, further undermining the Kremlin’s claims that the deportation and adoption of Ukrainian children is a necessary humanitarian endeavor. BBC Panorama and Russian opposition outlet Vazhnye Istorii published investigations in November 2023 that detailed how “A Just Russia” Party leader Sergey Mironov and his wife Inna Varlamova deported a ten-month girl and a two-year old boy from an orphanage in Kherson Oblast in fall 2022.[9] Mironov and Varlamova adopted the girl and changed her name, surname, and birthplace on her new Russian birth certificate, and the whereabouts of the boy remain unknown. Ukrainian outlet TSN posted an investigation on April 28, 2024, that further details the circumstances of Mironov’s adoption of the girl and includes footage of Mironov and his wife attending a baptism for the child.[10] TSN alleged that Mironov and Varlamova brought both the girl and the boy to Moscow Oblast, but that the boy was ill and that Mironov and Varlamova abandoned him, which is why his whereabouts remain unknown.[11] TSN also reported that the Ukrainian Ombudsman’s Office found that the girl, who is now nearly three years old, actually has a legal guardian and a younger sister living in Greece and noted that the girls’ guardian is asking for her return.[12] Russian opposition outlet TV Dozhd similarly reported on April 27 that a Russian woman adopted a deported six-year-old boy from occupied Donetsk Oblast and changed his name and surname, which made it harder for journalists and the boy’s family to find him.[13] TV Dozhd noted that the boy’s sixteen-year-old sister attempted to find him and gain custody through the Russian court system, which denied her right to guardianship.[14]

The practice of changing the names and birthplaces of deported Ukrainian children and adopting them into Russian families is likely intended to erase the paper-trail of the circumstances of their deportations and their true identities to make it more challenging for the Ukrainian government or their guardians to find or repatriate them. Russian authorities, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kremlin-appointed Commissioner on Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova, frequently try to justify the deportation and adoption of Ukrainian children on humanitarian grounds and cloak what is ultimately part of a genocidal enterprise to destroy Ukrainian identity in the guise of rescuing orphaned Ukrainian children.[15] Reports that some of these children have legal guardians who are asking for their return undermines the Russian effort to claim that the deportation of Ukrainian children is a humanitarian necessity and highlights the fact that Russian authorities seem intent on covering their tracks to make deported children harder to find and return to Ukraine.

The first 10 days of May encompass Orthodox Easter, Putin's inauguration, and the Victory Day parade.

I wonder if there will be a mass terror attack on Russia during that time.

All of that can be done anywhere.

Fuck Ukraine. Fuck Taiwan. Fuck South Korea. Fuck Russia. Fuck China. Fuck North Korea.

Really? The Russians are changing the children's names to make repatriation difficult to impossible. Oh, and during WWII, as the British and Americans moved eastward across Europe, German children were NOT sent to America to be adopted. America had an abundance of children but today's Russia has a severe shortage. This year Putin asked Russian women to have at least 8 children because of that shortage.

Why can't they just say it out loud? Don't they have any evidence?

Just curious to see what kind of drivel SECOND posted today.

Ukraine soldiers getting 'destroyed' as soldier blames 'stupid' commanders

Russia will continue to pile the pressure on Ukraine as US military aid makes its way to the country, experts warn.

One Ukrainian serviceman described in a post on X how a lack of leadership in the military is costing Kyiv.

He said: "My company was literally destroyed, we carried out tasks in the worst conditions and no one cared, we stormed without support and with stupid command, we defended with almost no support and with the same stupid command."

Meanwhile, General Serhiy Krivonos said in a television interview: "What we have is a serious systemic failure."

I feel bad for you boys.

It's been nice, at least up until this point, that we haven't had to worry about things like that in America for a very long time. You were all just born on the wrong piece of rock. And all them people responsible for it or any of their boys on both sides are never going to see the horrors you see or die the deaths you've died.

No US Taxpayer dollars funding foreign wars. Period.

6ix, you surrender too easily. The war has always been Dumb vs Dumber, but the Ukrainian military command has recently (temporarily I hope) switched roles with the Russian command to become the Dumbest tacticians on the battlefield.

A retired Ukrainian general said that the dominance of Ocheretyne’s high-rise apartment buildings over the surrounding steppe could have served as an effective deterrent against Russian troops and prevented the town’s takeover.

“What we have is a serious systemic failure,” General Serhiy Krivonos said in televised remarks.

The Russian side is predictably triumphant.

For reference on how to win a war: U.S. generals and admirals lost their commands when they lost battles in WWII. General Marshall and his commanders were quick to punish incompetence. Ukraine needs to punish its incompetent generals.

General Sirsky (the overall commander of Ukrainian forces) is doing what Zelensky is telling him to do: defend every square millimeter.

The last top military commander who tried to mitigate Zelesnky's irrational commands, Zaluzhny, was fired and hasn't been seen in public since, either in Ukraine or in Britain where he was supposedly posted about a month ago. People are speculating that since he's had no public appearances for about a month that he's either dead or under arrest. All of Zaluzhnys top commanders were also fired and one was assassinated.

So.

Zelensky is no military commander. He's just doing what our neocons are telling him to do, and they (Burns, Stoltenberg, BoJo, etc) visit him regularly to tell him to keep fighting. Even our Uniparty Congress is indirectly telling him: Here'smore money, keep fighting.

We really do intend to keep fighting to the last Ukrainian.

So much for SECOND'S vacuous advice!

Last I read, Ukrainian defenses have broken west of Avdiivka, in the Ocoretina (sp?) area, and hundreds of Ukrainian troops are trapped in cauldrons.

Since Ukraine rushed troops to defend Ocoretina, that left areas like Rabotina relatively undefended, and Russia, pushing wherever there is weakness, finally took that area too. (This is far to the south of Avdiika).

West of Bakhmut, Russia is pounding the Chasov Yar area. They've isolated the eastern most suburb, which is east of the Siversk-Donetsk Canal and already physically vulnerable, but haven't stormed it yet.

Too many small villages to name have been taken by the Russians in central Donetsk Oblast.

Russia continues to attrit Ukraine's military assets and dual-use infrastructure to the far rear, all the way west to Lvov and north to Kharkov.

The problem with Ukraine's ground fighting is that, at this point, they have no air defense and are vulnerable to missile, bomb, and drone attacks. They have almost no counterbattery capability to take out Russian artillery.

Well. In fact, they have very little capability at all, and seeing as how most of the west's previous contributions have been destroyed or used up, and there's nothing left to spare in our arsenal, since we're committed to Israel, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Japan, S Korea, the Philippines, Syria, Africa (Africa???) etc....

*****

Meanwhile, Ukraine is using the newer, longer-range ATACMS against Crimea. As I understand, these missiles have been modified to carry more fuel (longer range) but smaller payload. Not sure how successful these missile launches (possibly up to 15 missiles) have been, but as has been demonstrated in Israel and Ukraine, there is no such thing as a perfect air defense, especially if you're defending a large area in a long war. Swarm a system with enough drones, dummies, and active missiles and some will get thru, and eventually air defense will be depleted.

"Everyone" is expecting an attack against the Kerch Bridge some time during the first 10 days of May, which is an important time in Russia (Orthodox Easter, Victory Day parade, and Putin's inauguration).

I myself think that a drone attack against the Victory Day parade itself is not out of the question.

And, finally ... a number of small, missile-capable ships and a few landing crafts are being transfered to the Black Sea, leading to speculation of an offensive across the Dnieper.
