After two oil refinery blasts in Europe, Russian propaganda reports a fake one — then blames Ukraine for sabotage of three refineries.

With Ukraine heavily reliant on Western backing, Russian disinformation is laser-focused on driving a wedge between Kyiv and its allies.

After explosions at Russian-linked refineries in Romania and Hungary, reports on Oct. 22 claimed another blaze at a Druzhba-connected refinery in Slovakia. The incidents at Romania's Lukoil refinery in Ploiesti and Hungary's Szazhalombatta plant were real. The third one was not.

Declaring that "oil refineries across Europe are burning one after another," pro-Kremlin propaganda outlets have been actively pointing a finger at Ukraine, alleging arson or a drone strike.

The explosion at Romania's Lukoil refinery in Ploiesti on October 20, 2025, was caused by a buildup of gases in the industrial sewage system. The incident occurred during planned maintenance and resulted in one injured worker.

The exact cause of the explosion at Hungary's Szazhalombatta refinery is still under investigation. However, Hungarian oil company MOL confirmed that the fire broke out in the AV3 processing unit, and although no foul play has been officially detected, official and internal investigations are ongoing. What happened: A fire broke out in a processing unit after an explosion at the MOL Danube Refinery in Szazhalombatta. Initial company statement: MOL stated there were no signs of foul play, but that the incident was caused by a failure of a technological device.

Winter in Ukraine: when drones can’t see, tanks advance

The winter weather can ground and blind drones. That’s good news for vehicle crews on both sides. But don’t expect relief for the infantry.

By David Axe | Oct 24 2025

• The winter weather is bad for drones, good for vehicles
• This helps both sides in the current war in different ways
• The fighting may evolve as it gets cloudier and colder
• But the infantry is in for an uncomfortable few months

While the war in Ukraine continues, Moscow can promise financial rewards for would-be parents but not the stability needed for gambling on the future.

When people lack confidence about their prospects, it's not a time for having children, Mathers said, adding: “An open-ended major war doesn’t really encourage people to think positively about the future.”

A) The Patriot systems cant shoot down hypersonic missiles, and

B) Since two, or even four, interceptors are fired at each incoming missile, Ukraine would have needed 1600 Patriot missiles, minimum, and more like 3200 missiles to attempt to counter that number of incoming missiles.

The actual number of missiles in stock is a secret, but what we do know is that a lot were used in Ukraine and Israel, and that Raytheon (now Lockheed Martin) only produces something like 500-600 a year.

If the USA really wanted to help Ukraine, it would send weapons such as Tomahawks that could materially assist the Ukrainian ranged efforts against refineries (and other economic targets). However this week the Trump administration seemed to rule Tomahawks out after having dangled them in front of Ukraine for months.

Indeed, Trump himself seemed to have a moment of panic when the Wall Street Journal reported that his administration was assisting the Ukrainian campaign. He went right to his version of twitter to correct the record.

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
The Wall Street Journal story on the U.S.A.'s approval of Ukraine being allowed to use long range missiles deep into Russia is FAKE NEWS! The U.S. has nothing to do with those missiles, wherever they may come from, or what Ukraine does with them!

NATO secretary general says Putin is "running out of money, troops and ideas"

By Ivan Diakonov | 25 October, 01:00

https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2025/10/25/8004379/

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has stated that Russian leader Vladimir Putin is running out of resources to continue the war against Ukraine.

Source: Rutte at a press conference following the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in London

Details: Rutte believes the situation on the line of contact shows the ineffectiveness of Russia's strategy and the enormous price that they are paying for minor advances.

Quote: "In Ukraine, Putin is gaining little new ground on the battlefield – and where there are marginal gains they are coming at a huge price. Hundreds of thousands of Russians are dying for Putin's deluded aggression. Ukraine continues defending itself bravely and our support to them is working. The truth is that Putin is running out of money, troops and ideas."

Details: Rutte stressed that the time has come to increase pressure on Russia to achieve a just peace. In this context, he welcomed the recent announcements by European allies and Canada on providing additional military assistance to Ukraine and the approval of the 19th package of sanctions.

"The developments on the battlefield show that our support to Ukraine is working, and we need to keep it up. We need to pair this support with sanctions and economic pressure [on Russia]," he emphasised.

Rutte is optimistic regarding Western unity, mentioning "good discussions" this week in Washington, Brussels and London, which in his view indicate movement in the right direction to end the war.

Background: On 13 October, Rutte mocked the state of the Russian navy, noting that Moscow's naval presence in the Mediterranean had virtually vanished.

According to Russian Group of Forces Commanders and Chief of General Staff Gerasimov, 5000 Ukrainian soldiers are operationally encircled (trapped) on the east bank of the Oskol River in Kupiansk. Russia is currently cutting that encirclement in half.

Also, 5,500 Ukrainian soldiers are encircled in Pokrovsk, in a much smaller pocket.

Putin ordered that the Russian military create all circumstances to make surrender possible. Which makes sense bc Russians don't want to have to shoot their way thru each city.

I expect a lot of "cope" from Ukraine and the west.

"Pokrosk isn't that important" (Oh yeah? Then why did Kiev send so many soldiers there?)
"Its Russia that's surrounded"

But since I've been watching Military Summary every day, and he only posts frontline changes that are verified by video (drone footage of soldiers waving flags at geolocated positions, for example), as far as I'm concerned these encirclements are video verified.

******

ALSO, Putin announced the successful test of a NUCLEAR POWERED cruise missile with unlimited range and flight time (reputed to be able to circle the world, at least, but tested to 14,000 km (so far) and capable of a very heavy payload (supposedly 6 metric tons or 13,000 lbs).

What does this mean?

All of our strategic (nuclear) defenses assume that ICBMs are coming over the North Pole, for example. This cruise missile could attack from any direction. From over the South Pole, for example.
Also, all surface ships anywhere in the world - including aircraft carriers- are at risk. Russia, could, if it wanted to, sink all of our ships currently off the coast of Venezuela. Or Japan, or Diego Garcia or Australia or off the tip of Africa or South America.

Putin DID say that Russia was going to introduce a game changing weapon, and he wasn't kidding.

The only thing that would keep the west from taking this seriously is Russia's EXTREME reluctance to let their wunderwaffe fly at any non-Ukrainian target or to conduct decapitation strikes.

"Putin is out of money, troops, and ideas"??
Rutte is an idiot.

Those milbloggers can kiss my ass. I guess you "forgot“ my addendum:

I follow Military Summary Channel every day. The unique thing about that channel is that it only adjusts the front line when it's been proven by geolocated videos. For example, Russian forces have taken to publishing drone footage ... close up and long shot, to make geolocating easier... of soldiers waving unit/ Russian/ Soviet flags at various points to prove control.
Or, when one side attacks a particular position, it's assumed the other side is in control. So when Russia ... or Ukraine... posts a brag video how they attacked a particular position, they're admitting that the other side controls it.

And Dima doesn't select videos from just one side or the other, he publishes both. He also reads and discusses Telegram posts of individual soldiers, units, or official announcements.

So- yes, Pokrovsk is well and truly surrounded, and Kupiansk is definitely under operational encirclement.

Like I said: I expect a lot of "cope", and here you are doing just what I expected.

It's called deterrence: “If you attack us existentially, we'll defend with everything including nukes“.

Tomahawk missiles are NUCLEAR CAPABLE. It's impossible to tell in flight whether any particular missile has a nuclear warhead or not.

So, yanno, I think it best NOT to go launching what might be nukes at Russia

Don't you?

Ukraine can launch a nuke using anything, e.g. Flamingo, because nukes are light. For example, the W80 is a thermonuclear warhead with a yield of 150 kilotonnes of TNT, but I can actually pick one up. The W80 is that lightweight:

Mass 290 lb (130 kg)

Diameter 11.8 in (30 cm)

Russia tells the world it’s winning — actual military performance paints a different picture

The Kremlin raised propaganda spending by 54% in its 2026 budget, flooding media with false victories to hide battlefield losses and economic pain.

In 2025, Russian forces lost an average of 70 to 75 soldiers for every square kilometer captured

Since 1 July 2025, Russia has gained just 1,420 square kilometers — about 13.5 per day — while losing roughly 1,000 soldiers daily. Even if Russia avoids an economic collapse and keeps recruiting, Keane argues it would take another three to four years to seize the rest of Donbas — Ukraine's easternmost Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts.

Putin is convinced he has the manpower and resources to outlast Kyiv, journalist Mark Urban wrote in a report published by The Sunday Times on Oct. 26.
https://www.thetimes.com/world/russia-ukraine-war/article/putin-has-th
e-men-and-the-gear-and-still-believes-he-can-win-66c9vdffr

Last summer, Moscow mounted a major push to break Ukrainian defenses. But the offensive turned out to be “extraordinarily costly” — with up to 250,000 Russian troops killed, according to some estimates. Even if that figure is inflated, Urban argues, a “modest” estimate of 150,000 killed for capturing just 0.4% of Ukraine’s territory is staggering.

The Kremlin is confidence that Russia’s tactical adaptations and expanded weapons production will ultimately shape the outcome. The logic appears to be that depleting Ukrainian manpower could prove more decisive than territorial gains.

More than Tomahawks: What Ukraine’s soldiers say they actually need

By Asami Terajima, Kateryna Hodunova | October 26, 2025 6:17 PM

https://kyivindependent.com/more-than-tomahawks-what-ukraines-military
-says-it-actually-needs
/

While the Ukrainian military lacks prestigious Western-supplied weapons and equipment, soldiers and commanders say the shortage of basic resources — cars — makes it extremely difficult to hold back the relentless Russian offensives. Though Ukraine has been eyeing the U.S. to finally green-light the supply of long-range Tomahawk missiles, those on the ground say the lack of more basic needs is a more pressing issue, and often shortages of critical but more rudimentary equipment play just as decisive a role.

Ihor says his infantry company currently only has two working cars, after three others were made inoperable either by Russian drone attacks or the often treacherous roads of eastern Ukraine. A typical infantry company at this stage in the war has around 50-70 men.

His unit has no armored vehicles.

His unit relies on cars to bring guys to the front, with its speed and mobility allowing them to drive as close as 500 meters to a kilometer from the positions. But the cars quickly get destroyed or ruined by the beat-up roads in the Donbas, and the guys have to chip in from their own pockets for the repair, since fundraisers take too much time. Charity foundations said they are receiving fewer donations from the public the longer the war rages on.

Ideally, the unit would have five working cars so when one gets destroyed, another can easily come and help out without the risk of losing all cars, Ihor said.

“A car has a life for up to a month,” Ihor said. “A week or two, and the car is gone.”

Other commanders and soldiers deployed across the front line have also told the Kyiv Independent that the car deficit is significantly disrupting their fighting ability.

Anton, a commander of a tank company in the 59th Assault Brigade, admitted that “there are almost no cars” to bring his crews to the position, even though they have enough tanks and shells.

A soldier from the 63rd Mechanized Brigade named Dmytro said that there is constantly a car deficit because they often get destroyed, damaged, or break down.

An infantry company often just has one car to be used for getting people to the front and delivering food and weapon supplies even though they usually need to happen simultaneously.

“These things often need to happen at the same time, but if the vehicle has already gone to the front line to transport personnel, it can’t also deliver food — and vice versa,” Urubkov told the Kyiv Independent.

“The army is always working under shortages, but when it comes to vehicles, it’s truly a matter of life and death.”

Yes, America has air defense systems capable of engaging hypersonic missiles.
The U.S. military has developed systems like the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense and Patriot PAC-3, which can engage hypersonic weapons traveling at Mach 10 or slower.

These systems indicate that the U.S. military is working to enhance its capabilities to defend against hypersonic missiles.

The Real Threat to Russia in the Ukraine War

By Reuben Johnson | Oct 27, 2025

https://nationalsecurityjournal.org/the-ukraine-war-has-turned-russia-
into-a-ticking-time-bomb
/

Warsaw, Poland - Almost precisely 22 years after Russian President Vladimir Putin had Mikhail Khodorkovsky arrested, convicted in a sham trial, sent to the GULAG, and then later released and forced to leave Russia, the exiled and one-time oligarch is suddenly today a threat to the security of Russia.

Another Phantom Enemy

“Ever since Putin turned against the West – roughly after 2006 – he has always been looking for what we have come to call the ‘Phantom Enemy’,” said Dr. Stephen Blank, a long-time Russia scholar and a Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI). “He always has to have some entity out there that he sells to the Russian public as an existential threat to his regime.”

“This is why he has invoked the supposed threat that NATO was ready to invade Russia at any moment, which is an obvious canard because NATO is a defensive alliance of pacifist countries that never want to actually go to war. Then it was the Ukrainian Nazis – who do not even exist – are going to invade Russia,” he continued.

“If he is now harping on Khodorkovsky and his group of exiles then it means he feels the need to conjure up another new conspiracy against him in order to prop up the support for his regime within the population. It is an old gimmick that goes back to the Stalin years in the Soviet Union. The dictator in Moscow always tells the people there is a gang of conspirators – both foreign and domestic – who are out to topple the leaders sitting in the Kremlin,” he explained.

The Threat Is Real This Time

For once, however, there is a real threat to Putin’s rule, although it is not from some enemy military alliance or an internal conspiracy.

An article in today’s London Daily Telegraph explains what the Russian president really needs to be worried about.

“Putin Fears Another Coup as Russia Finally Begins to Buckle,” reads the title. The London daily goes into some detail as to the various ills that beset the nation.

“For the first time in three and a half years, Russia’s really getting hurt,” says Timothy Ash, an associate fellow at Chatham House’s Russia and Eurasia program. “I think there’s some panic.”

And a large part of what could make the house of cards collapse for Putin are the vast sums that banks have lent to Russian defense companies.

“They were funding the war with borrowed money all along, it just wasn’t showing on the state’s balance sheet,”
Craig Kennedy, of Harvard’s Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian studies, told the Telegraph.

Kennedy is a former vice chairman at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and led the financing of Russia’s largest-ever corporate transaction during that time.

His warning is that these lending practices have ballooned into a ticking bomb waiting to go off.

“This is just a dark pool of debt, and nobody quite knows how much is going to default once it matures,” he said.

Something on the order of 23 per cent of Russian banks’ outstanding corporate loans —about US $190bn— are now to arms companies, he has analyzed. This is about 37 per cent of the annual state budget.

“Not only was this money lent without proper credit checks, but it has gone to a sector that has a bad credit history,” is the overall assessment.

This could mean record defaults on massive loans in the future.

In July, Bloomberg reported that at least three of Russia’s largest banks were already quietly preparing requests to the central bank for bailouts as their bad loans continued to pile up.

Khodorkovsky himself told The Telegraph the FSB’s accusations against him are signs the Kremlin has “anxiety over the issue of power transition” because if he suddenly dies there is no person who is a clear successor, not is there a process to determine one and so appoint him.

“What do we have in Russia?” Khodorkovsky told the paper. “A prime minister whom no one elected but whom Putin appointed. Courts appointed by Putin. A parliament whose seats were filled through falsified elections, and whose legitimacy no one believes in.”

Whatever happens, the situation for Putin politically and his armed forces militarily is almost guaranteed to deteriorate further.

“In terms of being able to buy victory on the battlefield, Moscow already understands it’s beyond their capability,” says Kennedy. “The longer they wait, the greater the risk of a crisis, because the debt situation isn’t going to fix itself.”

Don't you?

Ukraine can launch a nuke using anything, e.g. Flamingo, because nukes are light. For example, the W80 is a thermonuclear warhead with a yield of 150 kilotonnes of TNT, but I can actually pick one up. The W80 is that lightweight:

Specifications
Mass 290 lb (130 kg)
Length 31.4 inches (80 cm)
Diameter 11.8 in (30 cm)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W80_(nuclear_warhead)

I see, SECOND, that at least you gave up your "cope by denial" that 10,500 Ukrainian troops are surrounded in Kupiansk and Pokrovsk. Also, Volchansk has been taken by Russia.

AFA "nuclear capable" missiles, you gave your usual stupid answer.

Missiles must be able to carry the warhead size and weight, and have the correct attachment points. Nuclear warheads are significantly wider than same -payload conventional warheads, so a nuclear capable missile is significantly wider than same-payload conventional missile.

But I think the REAL distinguishing characteristics of a nuclear capable missile are

Missile accuracy. If a warhead is programmed to go off at a certain location and height, you don't want it going off several km away, or a hundred meters too high or too low. All of that is built into the MISSILE guidance system, not the warhead.

Proper electronics and SECURITY to fire missiles, and ignite a nuclear warhead. Nuclear MISSILES have security features that prevent them from being accidentally launched and the warhead from being accidentally ignited (on-site, for example). Again, those are MISSILE features, not warhead features.

So, yeah- feel free to load a nuclear warhead on a HIMARS missile or even a drone if you want. Especially if you don't care if it gets shot down, or where or when it goes off.

He's a Russian propagandist. All he does is bash anything to do with the West and NATO. And you refuse to realize that Russia can't even beat what was, a third-rate army at the time Putin attacked Ukraine.

Ukraine is growing in its capabilities while Russia is on its last leg. You will have to acknowledge it soon enough comrade.

That said, you did what you always do and didn't answer my posts content. How Russia is losing its ability to keep the electric flowing and how that is devastating for Russia and Russians.

Russia has attacked Ukraine with 770 ballistic and 50 Kinzhal missiles in 2025 – Zelenskyy

By Roman Petrenko | 25 October, 13:22

https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2025/10/25/8004415/

Ukraine has faced around 770 ballistic missiles and more than 50 Kinzhal hypersonic missiles fired by Russia since the start of 2025 up to 25 October.

Source: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy

Quote: "It is precisely because of such attacks that we pay special attention to Patriot systems – to be able to protect our cities from this horror. It is critical that partners who possess relevant capability implement what we have discussed in recent days.

No country should be left alone in the face of such evil. We must continue our cooperation. Everything is doable. Our partners have the necessary systems and they can already help defend Ukraine."

Details: Zelenskyy has said that the US, Europe and the G7 nations can help ensure that such strikes no longer threaten the lives of Ukrainians.

The Joss Whedon script for Serenity, where Wash lives, is Serenity-190pages.pdf at https://www.mediafire.com/two

The actual number of missiles in stock is a secret, but what we do know is that a lot were used in Ukraine and Israel, and that Raytheon (now Lo ckheed Martin) only produces something like 500-600 a year.

Yes, America has air defense systems capable of engaging hypersonic missiles.

Bullshit.

In other words ... our systems aren't effective against hypersonic missiles.

So much cope!

You think all those Colonels are Russian propagandists? Former Marine and international weapons inspector Scott Ritter? Former Marine Brian Berletic?
Those who broadcast from Russia... some do "walk and talk". I get to see what's going on in the background. It's not what you imagine.

What do you think is gonna happen, son? A palace coup in Russia? Russian troops running back to the border? At what point will I "have to acknowledge" a Russian defeat? If you're going to make a prediction, be specific and put a time limit on it, bc even a broken watch is right twice a day.

Seriously? Ukraine is dark practically from end to end. Russia isn't.

I post what I believe to be honest thought out and fact based information. It’s mainstream in the sense that it matches global opinions. I ran into you who posts the same shit Putins’ propaganda machine spews. If someone asked me to describe your beliefs, I’d say she is a defender of Putin a child kidnaper and Trump, a pedophile. Add Assad and other strongmen to the list of those you defend.

I also ran into Jack. He follows people around and offers up insults and little more. Jack is a contrarian who opposes and rejects popular opinions. He has a right to be that way. However, he is also a racist, bigot and white supremist. He is signym, white trash. I’ve no doubt you’ll defend him against that charge which makes you the same.

Now, about your challenge. Watch the video about the power grid that provides electricity and I’ll respond to one of yours. You can even pick it. In fairness, the most important part is 1hr and 4m, in. You do not have to watch the whole thing, but you may want to.

And stop using my signature
