6ix, one thing making Russia unique is the millions of murders of Russians by Russians. Russia didn't keep track of murders because, you know, murder rampages don't make Russians look sane but mass murder has been the most powerful force in Russian history.

Nobody died from Covid.

You should really be appreciative of that FACT, since if Donald Trump was responsible for more American deaths than Hitler via Covid, that means that Joe Biden* was responsible for quite a bit more than double of that number since Inauguration Day.

Go fuck yourself, cultist.

Thank you for confirming you believe that nobody died from Covid-19. You saved me the effort to find your previous quote. Your next rhetorical gambit is to deny Russians murdered about 62,000,000 Russians (1917-1987). The Russians are crazier in Ukraine (2024) than in the past, just like 6ixStringJack gets steadily crazier with time. The constant drumbeat of Trump will be the next President from 6ix and Russia will nuke the Satanic West from Putin are signs of their insanity.

I've never hid what I've written. Not once. And also unlike you, I don't constantly contradict myself 10 times per day because I'm not a hypocrite who has no core values or beliefs.

You're like a little ping pong ball bouncing back and forth from headline to headline quoting every little bit of bullshit that idiots on the internet write everyday as if they were your thoughts in the moment. Meanwhile, we all get to just sit back and laugh as you defeat all of your own arguments with the next article you quote. This is a regular pattern we've observed out of you for years now.

You didn't need to dig for my Covid quote from 4 years ago. You could have just asked me and I would have given you a fresh new one to quote.

Quote:

I imagined you'd changed over the years, but you are crazier now than you were the first time you wrote "nobody died from Covid-19" five years ago.

I'm not the crazy one here, buddy. I'm not the one who was sucking on all that NeoCon and NeoLib dick and begging for them to save you from a cold while the likes of Nancy Pelosi and John Bolton and Anthony Fauci were cumming all over your face repeatedly and you lapped it all up like a good little dog and begged for more everyday.

You know full well what a little boot-licking brownshirt coward you are. You don't need me to tell you that. You see it every time you look in the mirror.

Quote:

Your next rhetorical gambit is to deny Russians murdered about 62,000,000 Russians (1917-1987).

Now I am going to have to ask you to dig up the quote where I said that. It ought to keep you busy for a few weeks at least since you're never going to win that little game of hide and seek.

But let's just say for argument's sake that I agree with you and Putin and his predecessors have 62 Million points on the board. That's not too many more Russians that have been murdered than babies who's potential lives the likes of you have eliminated before they had a chance since 1973 now is it?

http://fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?tid=65992

48 Million and counting. 48 Million reasons why your side gets to justify allowing 12 Million illegal criminal invaders storming our borders and taking over all of our cities over the last three and a half years.

And not only didn't you ask them what a single one of their names would have been, but you can't even find the common decency to keep exact counts and you round to the nearest 1,000 per year. Not surprising at all to anybody since all they ever were to you was nothing more than a tumor being removed, or maybe even just a lowly skin tag.

And, correct me if I'm wrong, since we're now going to start pretending to cry over dead Russian soldier's names... but it's been 4 years now and I don't recall ever hearing you demand they make a wall with all of the names of all of your precious Covid death victims either.

And we all know why that is, now don't we?

It's because all those lives mean just as much to you as dead Russians and dead Ukrainians do. They're all nothing but figures that you can squeeze together and morph into a little virtual cudgel that you swing all around, trying to bludgeon people you never met but you pretend to intimately know over the head like some sort of virtual whack-a-mole or something.

Well you can go fuck right off and keep that shit over at Twitter with all the other dummies where it belongs.

It don't fly here.

Well... We'll finally get to see who's crazy come November then, now won't we?

Unlike all the other endless tick tock threads that seem to get created on this board, this right here is a clock that's about to finally wind down and leave us with some definitive answers.

Don't look now... but nobody in your media bubble appears to share your confidence nor your enthusiasm on the issue of Trump and his reelection chances at this juncture.

I'd suggest you stop fucking around wasting time with me and you'd best get on your knees and start praying to your God for a miracle now, boy.

Because if I'm wrong and Trump doesn't win the election in November, ain't nothing in my life going to change and I'll just keep marching on.

But you...?

Oh... I'm worried about what's going to happen to you and your already very fragile mental state if Trump wins 6 months from now.

The best of luck to ya.

I don't have to wait until November to see who is crazy. The Soviet Union fell apart because Russians were crazy. The only signs that not all Russians are crazy are the millions of Russians who became immigrants, leaving their land with its history of murdering tens of millions of sane Russians. The lives of Trumptards fell apart because Trumptards are crazy. See Trump during the last 40 years for a prime example of crazy turmoil in a Trumptard's life. Living around me in Texas I see millions suffering and lost in the modern world because inside their head they are crazy and they are Trumptards. They can't navigate the modern world because they are the equivalent of flat earthers, those weirdos who think the world is a disc rather than a sphere.

Many years before this war, Signym, from the first time I commented on something at fff.net, I knew you were a lunatic, but so are Russians:

The Kremlin continues efforts to portray its unprovoked war of aggression against Ukraine as something other than what it is while continuing to assert the jurisdiction of Russian federal law over sovereign states. Russian state media reported on May 4 that the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) placed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainian Ground Forces Commander Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavlyuk, and former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on Russia’s wanted list and opened criminal cases against the three Ukrainian leaders.[10] Russian state media noted that the Russian MVD did not specify Zelensky‘s, Pavlyuk‘s, or Poroshenko’s crimes nor the alleged crimes of the previous Ukrainian officials that Russia placed on its wanted list, including Ukrainian Main Military Intelligence Directorate (GUR) Head Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov and Ukrainian State Security Service (SBU) Head Vasyl Malyuk. One Russian milblogger expressed hope that the warrant for Zelensky’s arrest will prevent Zelensky from visiting countries with an extradition treaty with Russia.[11] The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) called the arrest warrants an act of Russian propaganda.[12] Ukrainian officials have recently warned that the Kremlin is intensifying an existing information operation called “Maidan 3” aimed at creating doubt about the legitimacy of Zelensky’s presidency among Ukrainians and that “Maidan 3” will likely peak around late May 2024.[13] The Kremlin’s decision to place Zelensky, Pavlyuk, and Poroshenko on Russia’s wanted list is likely part of Russia‘s “Maidan 3” information operation and of the Kremlin’s wider efforts to discredit the current and previous pro-Western Ukrainian governments that followed Ukraine’s Euromaidan Revolution in 2014 as well as to isolate Ukraine diplomatically.[14]

The Kremlin’s decision to place Ukrainian officials on Russia’s wanted list is also an aspect of its continued efforts to assert the jurisdiction of Russian federal laws in sovereign European and post-Soviet countries where Russia has no legal jurisdiction. The Russian MVD has previously placed multiple officials from NATO member countries – including Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania – on Russia’s wanted list for allegedly breaking a variety of Russian federal laws within NATO member countries.[15] ISW continues to assess that the Kremlin’s efforts to assert the jurisdiction of Russia's efforts to set informational conditions justifying possible future Russian aggression against NATO states.[16]

On Feb. 24, 2022, nearly 3,000 Russian battle tanks, accompanied by many thousands more troops in trucks and lightly armored vehicles, invaded Ukraine. Inside the tanks were thousands of young people, many barely more than schoolchildren, who had been ordered into battle to defend an idea. It was fundamentally a nationalist rather than a religious idea, but it had been supported by some heavy religious artillery the previous day in a fiery sermon by Patriarch Kirill, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church. Over the following weeks and months, Kirill would redouble his rhetoric in support of the war. He urged soldiers to fight as their patriotic duty and promised them that “sacrifice in the course of carrying out your military duty washes away all sins.”

In the days and weeks to follow, priests of the Ukrainian Orthodox and Catholic churches would use prayer and biblical exhortation to stiffen their compatriots’ will to resist. And among the outpouring of support and offers of military and humanitarian supplies, many thousands of rosaries have been manufactured and delivered to Ukraine to raise the morale of both civilian refugees and front-line troops. Rhetoric and rosaries are just two of an immense variety of religious technologies deployed throughout the ages to harden the resolve of young people—usually men—ordered into combat.

Warfare is only one of the many theaters of religious persuasion. From battlefield to ballot box, from boardroom to bedroom, religious movements enjoy immense power in the world today.

How did they come to gain such power? When we see politicians instrumentalize religion, it’s easy to conclude that the most important source of religious power is political influence. It’s true that political leaders have often granted vast powers to religious movements. But this doesn’t explain why political leaders—who, as a rule, don’t like giving power to anybody—should want to grant it to the leaders of religion. They do so because religious movements have gained their power independently, and political leaders are envious of the legitimacy that comes with this.

Religions flourish because they preach a particularly moving spiritual message—a narrative that speaks to important human needs. The most powerful religions succeed in moving their hearers more than others do. After all, most of the spiritual movements that were ever founded have disappeared without trace. What makes the best religious messages so moving, then—so enchanting? There’s a surprising answer to this question: It’s economics.

The Russian Army would have already defeated Ukraine — if it had followed its own manual

The US Army's new manual on Russian tactics is an impressive-looking document. It's 280 pages packed with details and diagrams of how Russian soldiers are supposed to fight.

It is also evidence of a major reason why Russian troops have often fought poorly in the Ukraine war: they are not following their own playbook.

"A lot of the basic elements of that doctrine are sound enough that they could form a basis for successful operations," Scott Boston, a Russia military expert for the RAND Corp. think tank, told Business Insider. "But you do have to follow them."

"Doctrinally sound attacks can still fail," Boston pointed out. "But a lot of their mistakes were failures to follow doctrinal guidance that is there for good reason. Like, have a guard force out in front so your main body doesn't blunder into combat and become decisively engaged. Don't try to send your entire force down too few roads. Don't leave your support troops unprotected. These were pretty basic things."

Shoigu has useqd the word "offensive" twice recently to describe the MOD's current activity. No more "active defense" or "aggressive attrition"!

So, thinking strategically, what will Russia do next?

I think they have two basic goals that they want to see achieved concurrently. One is the collapse of the Ukrainian army and, by extension, the Ukrainian government. Once the government is collapsed the Constitution (which btw forbids negotiation with Russia and enshrines NATO membership as a goal) can be rewritten to make Ukraine permanently neutral.

The other is acquisition of Kharkiv and Odessa.

The collapse IMHO has to come first. Still thinking ...

I see that you, 6ix, and the Russians think long-ago history has vanished and should be ignored. But the past is a great place to look for the most complete information about who you are right now. For example, that's why Russia killing 62 million Russians and Russia killing 4 million Ukrainians reveals that Russia has got murder planned for Ukrainians in 2024. How do you deal with a country that has murdered tens of millions, is murdering now, and says it will murder more with nukes in the future?

To Survive, Kyiv Must Build New Brigades

By Jack Watling | May 2, 2024

https://www.foreignaffairs.com/ukraine/american-aid-alone-wont-save-uk
raine

Ukraine does not lack people to mobilize. (According to one recent analysis, there could be several million additional Ukrainians who are able to serve.) What it has lacked is an effective recruitment and training system to bring available people into the force and equipment to provision them.

The military must pursue mobilization in three stages. First, it must immediately raise battlefield replacements for the existing force. But then it must regenerate reserves to allow existing units to rotate and, after that, build new units able to conduct offensive action. The first is the easiest to solve. Equipment is the limiting factor for the second. For the third, the most limiting factor is officer training. This can be addressed, but it must be done imminently if Ukraine is to generate the needed forces by fall.

Russia will likely be most dangerous in the final months of 2024. By that point, having weathered months of Russian offensive operations, Ukrainian forces will be stretched thin, their air defenses depleted. Russia will likely have enough troops to rotate its units to allow for successive offensives in the fall.

The top priorities must be to ensure not only that Russia’s summer offensive culminates at a high cost to Moscow but also that newly raised Ukrainian troops are in place to blunt further offensives in the autumn—and, ideally, to establish a stable frontline by early 2025. It is only from such a position that Ukraine can regain the initiative. Achieving that objective will depend to a significant degree on how rapidly Ukraine can mobilize and equip its forces. The one commodity it desperately lacks is time.

The U.S. military aid package was passed just in time to stave off a Ukrainian collapse. But to truly shift the direction of the war, it will need to be accompanied by a far more comprehensive strategy to successfully end it. And that must come from Washington, its NATO allies, and Kyiv itself.

The Kremlin-controlled Russian Orthodox Church Moscow Patriarchate (ROC MP) seized on the Orthodox Easter holiday on May 5 to further its efforts to garner domestic support for the Kremlin’s war in Ukraine. ROC MP Head Patriarch Kirill delivered an Easter message in which he stated that Russia is going through “difficult” and “fateful” trials and labeled Russian lands as “sacred.”[22] Patriarch Kirill called on people to pray for Russian authorities and the Russian military and expressed hope that God would bring about an end to the “internecine” war in Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin, who attended the service, thanked Patriarch Kirill for his “fruitful collaboration” during the “current difficult period.”[23] Putin claimed that the ROC MP and “other Christian denominations” are preserving Russian heritage and societal values.[24] Russian independent outlet Mozhem Obyasnit (We Can Explain) reported that Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD)-run television network Zvezda broadcast the service and deleted any comments from viewers with calls for peace.[25]

Novaya Gazeta Europe reported on May 3 that the Russian MoD is preparing to expand the Russian military’s main cemetery into a nearby forest in Moscow Oblast because the cemetery is running out of space. Novaya Gazeta Europe reported that residents at unhappy that the cemetery's expansion will result in the destruction of a nearby forest and noted that one woman stated that the Russian MoD should cremate the bodies of serviceman to save space.

“Why was it necessary to expand the memorial of 52.24 hectares and designed for 200 years of service open only 10 years ago? Is it true that the dead soldiers have nowhere to be buried?”

Your problem with the past, SECOND, is that you don't understand it and therefore can't learn from it. The people today are not the people of the past. You don't take that into account.

You think that the past stamps some sort of immutable character on a people. The South: began in slavery and will be racist and Confederate forevermore. (In fact, cities in the NE are more racist than the south.)

Russia: was a backwards culture and will be backwards forevermore. (Forgetting that European cultures also began as backbirths) Was responsible for mass deaths and will forever sacrifice people to "the cause" (forgetting that Germany instigated a large part of that and itself killed millions).

The world is a process, SECOND. Not a mold into which people are poured and set. The trick is to discern the essential threads: which movements are likely to gain strength, which ones will modify, and which will die out or be overcome? What will people learn and what will they change?

So before you tar entire peoples with your nearsighted vision, might want to learn something about them first.

Russian TV is telling me what Russians think right NOW!

The head of RT (Russia Today) Margarita Simonyan predicted the future where desperate Westerners will come pouring into Russia and get situated on the frozen Solovetsky Islands 100 miles from the Arctic Circle.

The footage begins with Simonyan describing how Rome was a mighty empire until "there was nothing left" and is now just a place "where tourists leave their trash." She then gave the other participants a meaningful look and asked, "Doesn't it remind you anything?"

Simonyan went on to discuss the depravities and "satanism" of the West, giving as an example the surgeries that transgender people receive. People who don't consider themselves human beings can also "legally transition into a baby elephant" if they want, she added.

She went on: "I am certain that we will become the country where the normal people who are left in those countries will come pouring in, having had with it their new religion. They will come to us. They will consider us to be the heaven of providence. They will live someplace like the Solovetsky Islands. Why not? With global warming it will get warm there. It will be hot everywhere else, but there it will be warm!"

When she finished speaking, the host said to her: "Bravo!"

Russian TV also said that the West should be nuked off the face of the earth, but I don't wish to dilute the message that Russians are silly fools by also mentioning that they are contemplating mass murder on a scale far beyond any previous extinctions in history. The Russians dream of killing far more Westerners than the 62 million Russians killed by Russians and the 4 million Ukrainians killed by Russians.

Will Ukraine use its long range weapons to strike at the heart of Russia?

The only things I see active near the front are FPV drones, the occasional mortar or artillery shell,

You really think that some western nations are talking about sending troops bc everything is going swimmingly?

Russia's military is so hard up for manpower that it now pays more than the oil and gas sector

By Huileng Tan | May 7, 2024, 3:04 AM CDT

https://www.businessinsider.com/russia-economy-manpower-crunch-militar
y-bonus-pay-salary-oil-gas-2024-5

• Russia has a manpower crunch because of its war with Ukraine.

• Russia's military is paying more in sign-on bonuses and salaries than the oil and gas sector.

• Russia's oil and gas revenues have been keeping its war chest filled.

Russia is facing a labor crisis as its war with Ukraine siphons manpower away from the country's economy.

The manpower crunch has gotten so bad that the Russian military is now offering sign-on bonuses and salaries that are so competitive that even the country's lucrative oil and gas industry isn't keeping up, Bloomberg reported on Monday.

Russia's oil and gas sector has been paying wages that are at least two-thirds higher than the national average wage since 2017, per Bloomberg calculations based on official data.

That's no longer the case.

In January and February, workers in Russia's oil and gas sector took home about 125,200 rubles, or $1,370, in monthly nominal salary, per the media outlet.

But the Russian army is now offering incentives to contract soldiers, including a nationwide sign-on bonus of 195,000 rubles, according to a Russian government portal. Each region in the country also offers an additional one-time payment of up to 1 million rubles, per Bloomberg.

The salary of a contract soldier starts at 210,000 rubles per month.

That means people who enlist in the war receive sign-on bonuses and monthly wages greater than a month's oil or gas sector salary.

The competition Russia's military poses to its oil and gas sector is important because the country is a major energy producer, and the industry's robust revenues have kept Moscow's war chest filled. It also illustrates how Moscow's war in Ukraine — now into its third year — is siphoning resources from the rest of the Russian economy.

Moscow-based Kasatkin Consulting, formerly Deloitte's research center, estimates that Russia's oil and gas industry faces a shortfall of 40,000 workers this year, according to Bloomberg.

"Staff shortages have affected even the wealthy industries," Alexei Zakharov, the president of Superjob.ru, an online recruiter, told the media outlet. "The oil and gas sector can afford to attract employees with higher salaries, but the state competes by offering military contracts."
Putin is urging Russians to have more babies

Russia's manpower crunch isn't solely due to wartime mobilization.

There was a massive brain drain after the war started — which has somewhat reversed — and a demographic crisis in the making before the conflict started.

Furthermore, the UK estimated last month that about 450,000 Russian military personnel have been killed or wounded since the war started in February 2022. This excludes those who have been killed while serving in private military companies.

Russia's demographic crisis is so dire that Russian President Vladimir Putin has taken to encouraging women to have more babies for ethnic survival.

"If we want to survive as an ethnic group — well, or as ethnic groups inhabiting Russia — there must be at least two children," Putin said at a tank factory in February.

Putin’s first prime minister, Mikhail Kasyanov, said he and other 1990s reformers assumed that, like them, Putin had embraced democracy and market reform. “But he didn’t,” Kasyanov said. “He pretended.” Kasyanov said he was horrified by Putin’s approach to two hostage crises in 2002 and 2004 — ordering forces to storm in, causing hundreds of deaths.

“That was already a demonstration of his real nature, his KGB nature: no negotiations, no compromise, because they can’t come to a compromise because of the belief they will be seen as weak people,” he said. By 2004, Kasyanov was in opposition. “I understood that he’s completely the wrong person,” he said.

Putin’s first attempt to dominate Ukraine in 2004 — visiting Kyiv to back pro-Kremlin presidential candidate Viktor Yanukovych — backfired and set the scene for the Orange Revolution and a rematch election, which Putin’s man lost. Putin saw it as a “coup” and Western support for the winner, Viktor Yushchenko, as interference. It was the start of Putin’s fixation on the “Ukrainian problem” and his belief that an independent, democratic neighbor was an unacceptable threat to his own regime.

Abbas Gallyamov, a Putin speechwriter from 2008 to 2010 and Kremlin political consultant until 2018, said Putin invaded Crimea in 2014 and conducted a full-scale military attack on Ukraine in 2022 partly to reverse declines in his approval rating. After voicing frank criticisms of Putin’s decisions, Gallyamov said, Kremlin managers threatened to cut him off. “After this I received threats,” he said. “You’ll starve. You’ll get no contracts.”

He moved to Israel with his family. Last year, he was put on Russia’s wanted list, according to an Interior Ministry database, and the Russian Justice Ministry declared him a “foreign agent.” An arrest warrant was issued March 4.

Putin forges a Russian society built on regressive, militarized values

By Robyn Dixon

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/interactive/2024/putin-values-rus
sian-society-conservatism
/

The Kremlin is:

Mobilizing zealous pro-war activism under the brutal Z symbol, which was initially painted on the side of Russian tanks invading Ukraine but has since spread to government buildings, posters, schools and orchestrated demonstrations.

Rolling back women’s rights with a torrent of propaganda about the need to give birth — young and often — and by curbing ease of access to abortions, and charging feminist activists and liberal female journalists with terrorism, extremism, discrediting the military and other offenses.

Rewriting history to celebrate Joseph Stalin, the Soviet dictator who sent millions to the gulag, through at least 95 of the 110 monuments in Russia erected during Putin’s time as leader. Meanwhile, Memorial, a human rights group that exposed Stalin’s crimes and shared the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize, was shut down and its pacificist co-chairman Oleg Orlov, 71, jailed.

Accusing scientists of treason; equating criticism of the war or of Putin with terrorism or extremism; and building a new, militarized elite of “warriors and workers” willing to take up arms, redraw international boundaries and violate global norms on orders of Russia’s strongman ruler.

“They’re trying to develop this scientific Putinism as a basis of propaganda, as a basis of ideology, as a basis of historical education,” said Andrei Kolesnikov, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center. “They need an obedient new generation — indoctrinated robots in an ideological sense — supporting Putin, supporting his ideas, supporting this militarization of consciousness.”

Kolesnikov, speaking in an interview in Moscow, added: “They need cannon fodder for the future.”

Just before ordering what he believed would be a short, shock war on Ukraine, Putin published a little-noticed decree billed as vital to Russia’s national security. It called for urgent measures to protect “traditional Russian spiritual and moral values” and named the United States as a direct threat.

pull quote: "They need cannon fodder for the future"

“Threats to traditional values come from extremist and terrorist organizations, some news media and communication platforms, the actions of the United States and other unfriendly foreign states,” the order stated. A key goal, it said, was “to position the Russian state on the international stage as a custodian and defender of traditional universal spiritual and moral values.”

Putin’s descriptions of the West as “satanic” and the war as “sacred” are increasingly echoed by officials and the Russian Orthodox Church.

So AFA French Foreign Legion in Ukraine... Peskov, Putin's spox, said that the MOD would have to look into it to see if that was true. But Russia in response will be holding drills with tactical nuclear weapons.

And Dima, Military Summary Channel, is convinced that those French troops- or a large majority of them- have already been killed in an air strike on a power plant.

Xi is in France talking with Macron.

Italy and Poland have already said they won't, and won't support, NATO troos in Ukraine.

*****

On the frontline, Russia is overrunning some parts of central Donetsk. Ukraine's problem is that once they've been dislodged from a fortified town, they don't have prepared defenses to fall back to. Right now Chasov Yar, Belogorovka (north) and Ugladar are holding out, but the word "collapse" could be applied to the Ukrainians west of Avdiivka.

Russia is planning to cripple Europe’s economy – and this is how

By Jai Hamid | May 6, 2024

nomy

A Coordinated Campaign of Chaos

The string of incidents across Europe isn’t just isolated or random acts of mischief; rather, they represent a coordinated campaign orchestrated by Moscow. This strategy was highlighted by a senior European government official who noted that the intelligence shared through NATO points to a deliberate, large-scale effort by Russia to destabilize Europe.

NATO has expressed its concern about these malign activities, indicating an intensifying campaign by Russia across the Euro-Atlantic area. These actions are part of a broader Russian strategy that not only focuses on physical sabotage but also encompasses disinformation campaigns and cyber warfare. Germany, backed by the EU and NATO, recently promised repercussions for Russia following a cyber-attack targeting the social democratic party.

The ongoing scandal involving Russian attempts to influence far-right European politicians ahead of the upcoming elections adds another layer to the Kremlin’s multi-faceted offensive. This reflects a Russian objective to exert maximum pressure on Europe through a variety of channels, whether it be through misinformation, cyber-attacks, or physical sabotage.

Amidst these developments, Russia’s intelligence network is reportedly making concerted efforts to rebuild its influence in Europe. This comes after a significant setback when over 600 Russian operatives, previously under diplomatic cover, were expelled following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This reconstitution involves not only traditional spycraft but also the engagement of Russian diaspora communities and links with organized crime groups long affiliated with Moscow.

With Europe on high alert, the recent incidents serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by Russia. Questions linger over unexplained events like the explosion at a munitions factory in Wales and a massive fire at a Berlin factory linked to arms supplies for Ukraine. These events are not merely isolated incidents but part of a broader Russian agenda to probe European defenses and prepare for potentially more disruptive actions.

Cubans lured to Russian army by high pay and passports

May 4, 2024

Cuban men are offered monthly payments in the region of $2,000 (£1,600) per month - a huge sum for Cuba, where the average monthly salary is under $25 (£20).

Recruiting foreigners helps the Kremlin avoid the risks posed by trying to mobilise Russians by force. When Russia declared a partial mobilisation in 2022, hundreds of thousands of men left the country.

A popular Cuban YouTube content creator told a story last year of two 19-year-olds from Cuba who claimed they had been offered construction jobs in Russia, but were instead sent to the front line in Ukraine.

Their case reflects the experiences of other foreigners who told the BBC they were lured to Russia by the promise of higher salaries - only to end up on the battlefield.

You forgot about Putin executing Alexei Navalny, Putin's most prominent domestic political opponent, who died at the Arctic prison where he was serving a three-decade prison term for jaywalking? Did I forget to mention that Stalin did the same? If you got crosswise with Stalin, you're sent to where it is frigid and there is no heat, no blankets, and no food, which is what happened to Navalny. Putin has erected 95 memorials to recall Stalin's magnanimity.

Speeding Toward Ukrainian Lines On Two Wheels, Russia’s Motorcycle Troops Got ‘Beaten In The Teeth’

After losing nearly 15,000 vehicles in the first two years of its wider war on Ukraine, the Russian military got desperate. Now some of its troops are riding on motorbikes.

Motorcycles offer very little protection to their riders

After losing nearly 15,000 combat vehicles in the first two years of its wider war on Ukraine, Russia got desperate.

Production of new vehicles, combined with the restoration of old vehicles from long-term storage, couldn’t keep pace with the monthly loss of more than 600 tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers.

That’s why, in the early months of the third year of the wider war, more Russian troops have been riding into battle in trucks, open-top golf carts and—more recently—motorcycles.

The growing number of unprotected—0r at best, minimally protected—vehicles on the Russian side of the front line doesn’t mean Russian forces can’t win battles against ammunition-starved, understaffed Ukrainian brigades.

But the devolution of Russian vehicles does underscore one of the Kremlin’s most serious challenges in a grinding war that officials in Moscow once claimed would end in Russian victory in mere days. “While Russia remains a serious battlefield threat, its ability to replace lost armored vehicles is limited,” Ukrainian analysis group Frontelligence Insight explained.

Armies have been riding on motorcycles for more than a century—in other words, as long as motorcycles have existed. A fast, maneuverable and inexpensive motorbike is an efficient way for a courier or scout to get around the battlefield.

The problem for Russian troops in 2024 is that, running low on purpose-built armored vehicles as well as larger civilian-style vehicles, they’re riding their unprotected bikes directly at Ukrainian positions—just like they started doing with their roofless Desertcross 1000 all-terrain vehicles a few months ago. “Motorcycles are replacing golf carts,” Ukrainian war correspondent Yuriy Butusov noted.

Swapping bigger vehicles for bikes has cost some Russian units dearly. On or around April 15, the Ukrainian army’s 92nd Assault Brigade defeated an attack by Russian motorcycle troops outside of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine.

Three weeks later, around May 7, the Ukrainian 79th Air Assault Brigade destroyed eight motorcycles during a Russian assault on Novomykhailivka, also in the east. The Russians “were beaten in the teeth,” the brigade quipped on social media.

Frontelligence Insight cited one “vivid” example: a Russian motorcycle with a crude improvised sidecar for transporting several soldiers. The riders abandoned that overburdened bike during an assault on the eastern town of Bilohorivka, apparently last week.

Despite the losses, at least one Russian unit still vouches for motorcycles as assault vehicles. The Zarya Battalion of the Russian army’s 123rd Motor Rifle Brigade claimed its bikes are faster and harder to spot than a heavier, slower armored vehicle.

And the Russians are improving their war bikes, much like they improved their bizarre metal-clad turtle tanks. To mitigate the threat from Ukraine’s speedy first-person-view drones, which have been observed more than once chasing down Russian motorcycle troops, some Russian units have weaved metal mesh around their bikes.

The Ukrainian 79th Air Assault Brigade isn’t impressed. “Our operators of attack drones did not appreciate the creativity,” the brigade posted on social media following its defeat of the Russian motorcycle assault on or just before May 7. “Each rider was fined for speeding long before the finish line,” the brigade joked alongside a video it posted depicting wrecked motorcycles and dead Russian riders.

Russian President Vladimir Putin began his fifth term as Russian President on May 7 and stressed Russia's need for unchallenged autocratic rule while indirectly calling for victory in Ukraine.[1] Putin thanked Russian citizens, the residents of Russia’s “historical lands,” participants in the “special military operation,” and those who have “defended the right to be together with the motherland,” and called on Russia to unite for victory. Putin did not specify what this Russian victory entails and only vaguely referenced Russia's “serious challenges.” Putin has long justified his effort to destroy Ukrainian statehood by claiming that Russia is fighting for "historic lands" in Ukraine and coming to the aid of "compatriots abroad" who desire to reunite with Russia.[2] Putin likely intended to acknowledge the war without setting heightened expectations for Russian prospects in Ukraine with his vague call for victory. Putin more heavily suggested that Russia "needs" strong autocratic rule, claiming that the Russia state and socio-political system must be strong and must resist any challenges and threats in order to ensure the development, unity, and independence of Russia. Putin added that his ability to fulfill his duties as president depends on Russian unity and cohesion and warned Russians to remember historical lessons "about the tragic price of internal turmoil and upheaval." Putin has routinely invoked historical parallels to justify his own increasingly autocratic rule by suggesting that autocracy is a Russian tradition and has regularly argued that without unchallenged autocracy Russia would lose its sovereignty.[3] Putin notably alluded in October 2022 to the Pugachev Rebellion that challenged Catherine the Great's authority in the mid-1770s to warn deceased Wagner Group financier Yevgeny Prigozhin about challenging the Kremlin, a warning that did not prevent Prigozhin from launching his own failed rebellion in June 2023.[4] Putin had observed in 2022 that the Pugachev Rebellion occurred because the "weakening of the central power" caused someone to claim that he was the tsar. Putin's inauguration speech was otherwise filled with tired, boilerplate rhetoric and vague calls for national triumph, and his focus on internal stability indicates that Putin likely sought to emphasize to the Russian public that his fifth term as president will continue to be increasingly autocratic.

Russian ultranationalists lauded the start of Putin's fifth term as a historic event and explicitly approved of the autocratic tradition in which Putin is casting himself, with one of them hailing him as "imperator," the formal title of the Russian tsars since the time of Peter the Great. Russian ultranationalists claimed that Putin's fifth term would be a new stage for Russia and expressed hope that Putin would make meaningful changes to government officials and military commanders.[5] Several ultranationalist Russian milbloggers attended the inauguration, including Alexander “Sasha” Kots, who is on the Kremlin Human Rights Council, and Kremlin-affiliated WarGonzo Telegram channel founder Semyon Pegov.[6] The WarGonzo channel marked the inauguration by describing Putin as Russia's imperator, the Russian literal translation of emperor, and notably the official title of the Russian tsars from 1721 to 1917.[7] WarGonzo dubbed Putin's fifth his "imperial term" and asserted that the presidential term is only presidential in law but not in character.[8] Many Russian ultranationalists have long embraced Putin's autocratic character, and the unabashed praise for Putin as emperor from a prominent Kremlin-affiliated milblogger suggests that the Kremlin is likely coordinating with co-opted milbloggers to justify the Kremlin's increasing autocracy.

Russian ultranationalists also expressed hope that Putin will continue to deepen an anti-Western ideology that the Kremlin has been heavily developing since the start of the full-scale invasion. WarGonzo claimed that Putin carried out a "coup d'etat" against a "globalist" Russian elite who have ruled Russia since Boris Yeltsin's presidency following the collapse of the Soviet Union.[9] WarGonzo claimed that Putin had given Russian elites a choice during the past two years of the war in Ukraine to cut ties with other "globalists and oligarchs" and support Russia's current path, and implied that Putin would soon begin to disempower the elites who chose poorly by continuing the war in Ukraine and pursuing a new domestic political course.[10] WarGonzo's calls to cut ties with "globalists" likely refers to permanently severing economic ties between the West and Russia, and WarGonzo's focus on breaking with the precedents set during Yeltsin's presidency likely includes both the enrichment of Russia's oligarchs as well as Russia's attempted democratization and involvement in Western multilateral bodies.[11] WarGonzo's claims and hopes are reflective of an increasingly widespread and entrenched anti-Western ideological viewpoint in Russia, one that Putin will likely continue to foster in his fifth term. Russian opposition outlet Meduza recently reported that a source close to the Russian Presidential Administration claimed that Putin is focused on conservatism, removing all dissenters, achieving victory in the war in Ukraine, and “turning to the East.”[12] The Kremlin is currently attempting to forge a multilateral partnership with the People's Republic of China (PRC), Iran, and North Korea. This will likely intensify the Kremlin’s use of anti-Western ideology to justify this effort.[13] The Kremlin has been attempting to establish a more coherent ideology for the war in Ukraine and Russia's expansionist future, and anti-Western sentiment appears to be one of the most consistent ideological narratives the Kremlin has pursued and will likely be a main element of whatever ideology the Kremlin establishes.[14]

Since Russia claims the satanic forces of NATO are already fighting Russia, which is winning/winning/winning with almost zero causalities as it kills millions of Satan’s worshipers on the battlefield, same as Soviet Union killed millions of Nazis during the Great Patriotic War, I don’t see why Russia would even comment on a petition.

Russia Threatens ‘Highly Dangerous’ Conflict After Petition Pushing For NATO Troops Circulates On Ukrainian Government Site

Topline

Sending NATO troops into Ukraine would result in an escalated conflict that would be “highly dangerous,” the Kremlin warned Wednesday, after a petition posted to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s website called for the country to request troops from the alliance—though the petition is unofficial and NATO has expressed no plans to send in troops.

NATO officials have said there are “no plans” to deploy troops in Ukraine, while French President Emmanuel Macron claimed the alliance hadn’t ruled it out.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said NATO’s direct interference in Russia’s war with Ukraine is “potentially highly dangerous, adding the petition is “an outrageous provocation” Russia will be “closely following,” the Russian state-run news agency Tass reported. https://tass.com/politics/1785559

The petition, posted by a private Ukrainian citizen to Zelensky’s website Tuesday, asks Ukrainian officials to request troops from the European Union, the U.K., Northern Ireland and the U.S. to help “restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine.” https://petition.president.gov.ua/petition/225680

As of Wednesday morning, the petition—which expires August 7—has received just over 1,900 of the 25,000 signatures required for Zelensky to consider the petition’s requests.

The Ukrainian government launched the petition website in 2015, though most petitions posted since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022 ask for posthumous awards to individual Ukrainian soldiers.

Receiving 25,000 signatures does not guarantee Zelensky will respond, however, as nearly 2,000 petitions with the required number of signatures—including some posted in 2019—are still “under consideration,” and NATO would not necessarily send troops to the country if Zelensky requested them.

Tangent

European and NATO leaders have typically ruled out sending their own militaries to Ukraine, but French President Emmanuel Macron told The Economist last week France would consider sending troops to Ukraine if Russia broke through Ukraine’s front lines or if Ukrainian officials requested them. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Wednesday if the “French appear in the conflict zone, they will inevitably become targets” for Russia’s military, the Russian state-run news agency RIA Novosti reported. In February, Macron said NATO hadn’t ruled out deploying troops to Ukraine to “ensure that Russia cannot win this war.” Macron claimed NATO had no consensus over the matter, though several key NATO members and officials—including Germany, the U.S. and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg—pushed back on his suggestion and said the alliance had “no plans” to deploy troops.

Key Background

NATO has avoided direct involvement in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine while its member countries have provided military support to Ukraine. Ukraine applied to join NATO seven months after Russia invaded the country, and NATO signaled in 2008 the country would eventually join the alliance—but membership isn’t expected any time soon since Ukraine’s bid would need to be approved unanimously by NATO’s current member states. Ukraine’s membership in NATO could broaden its conflict with Russia, as a provision in the alliance’s founding treaty says any attack against one or more member states “shall be considered an attack against all of them.” This provision requires NATO member states to defend Ukraine, expanding the conflict to 31 countries in Europe and North America.
