Trump is not the problem. He set himself against the Deep State's agenda. And the Deep State's been heading for WWIII for years.
As for you, you're just a Deep State useful idiot, furthering its agenda. So I hope you enjoy cesium in your coffee. You've earned it.

Bad Night for Trump Sets the Stage for More GOP Infighting

WASHINGTON — Trumpism took a beating.
Now, President Donald Trump, former White House strategist Steve Bannon and their allies are racing to rescue it from the ashes of Republican Ed Gillespie's resounding defeat in Tuesday's Virginia gubernatorial election and GOP losses in dozens of down-ballot contests across several states.
They contend that Virginia voters spurned a consummate Washington insider — not the president's brand of politics — even though a massive turnout surge in Democratic strongholds suggests there was little Gillespie could have done to overcome the anti-Trump wave.

Democratic Election Sweep May Complicate GOP Push For Tax Reform

WASHINGTON ? If you’re a vulnerable Republican lawmaker from a high-tax state like New York, New Jersey, or California, Tuesday’s stunning Democratic sweep in key state and local elections may give you some pause.

Passing a tax reform bill that analysts say raises taxes on some middle-class Americans was already a politically risky move, but the task may prove even more difficult given the Democrats’ big wins in Virginia, New Jersey, and Washington state.

The trollz hav a stratejy.

Derail discussionz by posting oppozing opinionz. If you agree with a post, therez not much to reply with besidez additional info if you hav any, so the trollz hav an immediate advantaj.

Optimizing the stratejy involvez several tekneeks - repetition, saturation, fire.

Repetition: Keep saying the same messaj at every opportunity. EVERY post needz a respons.

Saturation: Dont let any topic slip by without turning it into your messaj. Cant do it? Start a new thred with the same or similar title to dilute the audiens for the orijinal thred. (Like Siggy did with 'Evidens')

Fire: Insults, accuzationz uv bias, claimz uv incorrect info, anything to turn it into a pissing contest that nobody else will bother reading.

They are doing a great job.

They are doing a great job of exposing themselves. This all is documented on Google. Anyone reading can look at the post and see if it matches the facts as they remember them. They can see how some use the tactic of deflecting away from subjects because the facts don't match their posted perspective. And in my case I point these things out.

The way to fight trolling is to be consistent and honor the truth. Anyone following will pick up on that if they too are honest. There are years of threads here that people stumble upon if they search firefly on Google. It's easily discernible who the nuts are.

Here is your chance to be less ignorant: The latest news on the TRUMP'S tax front:

Senate Republicans on Thursday plan to propose delaying a cut in the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 20 percent until 2019, four people briefed on the planning said, a major departure from President Trump’s insistence on immediate changes that he says are necessary to spur the economy…. To try to prevent companies from waiting until 2019 to invest, Senate Republicans will propose to allow companies to immediately deduct all capital investments in 2018 to incentivize them to spend more money immediately, the people said.

I have two comments:

This is idiocy in the extreme. The sole reason for delaying the tax cut is to reduce the cost of the plan in its first ten years. It makes no sense as policy, but it’s a good way to game the CBO score.

It’s not a “major departure” from anything. Donald Trump doesn’t have a clue what he really wants, and he will praise anything that Republicans produce.

We are now entering serious smoke-and-mirrors territory.

A guy with a Nobel for economics says that you're pretty much right and he adds details about how tax cuts really work, which contradicts what Republicans claim:
https://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2017/11/08/leprechaun-economics-and-
neo-lafferism
/
https://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2017/11/09/leprechaun-economics-with
-numbers
/

But there is still more to be said (Isn't there always?):

The Republican Party has long billed itself as being for family values, for the dignity of work, for lower taxes, and (at least, as the minority party) for balanced budgets. The House GOP tax bill cuts against all of these positions.

It would raise taxes on about one-third of the middle class by 2027. By eliminating the estate tax, it would benefit heirs of large estates, even if they don’t work a day in their life. Meanwhile, by eliminating some tax breaks often claimed by higher earners, the plan would raise taxes on many upper-middle class households. As a result, the bill would ironically privilege the “idle rich” over the “working rich.” And by slashing corporate taxes by several trillion dollars, it would raise deficits by trillions of dollars, even according to the most pro-Republican analyses.

Mostly correct. Since Reagan, tax cuts for the wealthy have not stimulated the USA economy. MOST companies have chosen to invest - when they DO invest- in China.

This process has also been going on under Obama as well, except that instead of tax cuts, corporations have been able to access zero-interest rate money, and have been using THAT as their fount of cash for stock buybacks. Thanks to the Fed, which the President has SOME control over.

Trump voters are reacting to Trump’s broken promises by deciding they don’t care about the promises. The following excerpts are from:

www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/11/08/donald-trump-johnstown-penn
sylvania-supporters-215800

I revisited and shook hands with the president’s base—that thirtysomething percent of the electorate who resolutely approve of the job he is doing, the segment of voters who share his view that the Russia investigation is a “witch hunt” that “has nothing to do with him,” and who applaud his judicial nominees and his determination to gut the federal regulatory apparatus. But what I wasn’t prepared for was how readily these same people had abandoned the contract he had made with them. Their satisfaction with Trump now seems untethered to the things they once said mattered to them the most.

“I don’t know that he has done a lot to help,” Maggie Frear told me. Last year, she said she wouldn’t vote for him again if he didn’t do what he said he was going to do. Last week, she matter-of-factly stated that she would.

I asked Pam Schilling what would happen if the next three years go the way the past one has.

“I’m not going to blame him,” Schilling said. “Absolutely not.”

Is there anything that could change her mind about Trump?

“Nope,” she said.

A gray-haired man told me he voted for Trump and was happy so far because “he’s kept his promises.”

I asked which ones.

“Border security.” But there’s no wall yet. “No fault of his,” the man said.

What else? “Getting rid of Obamacare.” But he hasn’t. “Well, he’s tried to.”

What else? “Defunding Planned Parenthood.” But he didn’t. “Not his fault again,” the man said.

I asked for his name. “Bill K.,” he said. He wouldn’t give me his last name. “I don’t trust you,” he said.

I compared this year’s answers to last year’s responses it seemed clear that the basis of people’s support had morphed. Johnstown voters do not intend to hold the president accountable for the nonnegotiable pledges he made to them. It’s not that the people who made Trump president have generously moved the goalposts for him. It’s that they have eliminated the goalposts altogether.

His supporters here, it turns out, are energized by his bombast and his animus more than any actual accomplishments. For them, it’s evidently not what he’s doing so much as it is the people he’s fighting. Trump is simply and unceasingly angry on their behalf, battling the people who vex them the worst—“obstructionist” Democrats, uncooperative establishment Republicans, the media, Black Lives Matter protesters and NFL players (boy oh boy do they hate kneeling NFL players) whom they see as ungrateful, disrespectful millionaires.

And they love him for this.

“I think he’s doing a great job, and I just wish the hell they’d leave him alone and let him do it,” Schilling said. “He shouldn’t have to take any shit from anybody.”

“I don’t give the guy that much credit,” John Daloni said, referring to the president, “but man—he knows what buttons to push, and he’s pushing ’em.” His insistent declarations of success no matter the reality—it’s working. Trump’s inveterate blame-shifting—it’s working.

If you don't like where the rich invest their loans, savings, and tax cuts, then don't cut their taxes. Instead, RAISE their taxes and invest that money where you like. But tax "reform" was always about pleasing the rich, me and Trump, who invests his money overseas:

Top White House economic adviser Gary Cohn’s background as a Goldman Sachs executive leaves him more experienced in the art of talking to really rich people than communicating with the public. That ends up making this interview with CNBC’s John Harwood, published this morning, an extraordinary document, because when Harwood pushes him on a few points, Cohn ends up basically surrendering and admitting the plain truth about the Republican tax plan: that it’s a bonanza for big businesses and the rich, whose main benefit for normal people is a vague hope that prosperity will trickle down from those at the top.
www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/11/9/16628130/gary-cohn-tax-plan

Do I have to mention that the Democratic Party is opposed to the GOP tax "reform"? Hillary campaigned on raising taxes for the rich. I'll be surprised if even one Senate Democrat votes for Trump's tax "reform" as I would have been if a Democrat voted to repeal Obamacare.

Huh....

Can't remember exactly what Second's signature did. It had something to do with the link at the end. Doesn't seem to be happening here now though.

I noticed that the last few posts from Second didn't have a sig at all. It's not a bad thing to have in the signature so it's a shame to remove it instead of just fixing it. I'll have to just point it out again if I ever have problems with it in the future.

6ixStringJack, I never-ever listen to "correction" unless they are paying me, or I'm paying them, or they have a gun pointed at me, or they are my friend, or my family. That has always worked well for me. Now onward to something of more substance about how to learn from others:

When it comes to climate change, the GOP has the unique position of the only major political party in the democratic world to reject the legitimacy of climate science and any domestic policy or international agreement meant to address it. Instead, the GOP is working actively to increase production and consumption of fossil fuels and to slow the transition to renewable energy.

The conventional wisdom gets the causal arrow backwards. Americans don’t develop political and policy opinions based on an assessment of climate science. They assess climate science based on preexisting political and policy opinions. That’s why trying to change minds with science-based arguments is so rarely effective.

The inconsiderate behavior was an essential part of getting rich. It's a Texas oil field thing as in the saying: "Nice guys finish last." The Democratic Party absolutely does not endorse that attitude of winner takes all. The party is more about spreading the wealth around, as you can see in their tax policy and welfare policy differing from the GOP.

6ixStringJack and second both watched Firefly and Serenity, but that does not make us friendly and agreeable members of the same polite tribe. Quoting from the article: Opinions aren’t formed in a vacuum, they’re formed in life, and in life, one is always surrounded by tribes enforcing worldviews in millions of explicit and implicit ways. Knowledge and motivation are social phenomena, not individual phenomena. Even if conservatives could be convinced of “free market” solutions to climate change, show me more than a handful of conservatives willing to prioritize their alleged fealty to free markets over the good opinion of their peers and tribal leaders. Show me a GOP politician willing to put their alleged fealty to free markets over the good opinion of their constituents and their chances of reelection.

Don't read -- for Democrats only:

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is investigating an alleged plan involving former White House national security adviser Mike Flynn to forcibly remove a Muslim cleric living in the U.S. and deliver him to Turkey in return for millions of dollars, according to people familiar with the investigation.

Under the alleged proposal, Mr. Flynn and his son, Michael Flynn Jr., were to be paid as much as $15 million for delivering Fethullah Gulen to the Turkish government, according to people with knowledge of discussions Mr. Flynn had with Turkish representatives. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has pressed the U.S. to extradite him, views the cleric as a political enemy.

Just think about this. A special prosecutor apparently thinks there’s credible evidence that Mike Flynn was involved in a plan to kidnap a Muslim cleric living in Pennsylvania and deliver him to Turkey in return for $15 million. This was in September 2016, while Flynn was a top surrogate in Donald Trump’s campaign. And Flynn was the guy who Trump originally chose as his National Security Advisor.
