That one is going to be hard to do since outside of a few ineffectual Republican governors that completely had their hands tied the state of Illinois has been a Democratic stronghold on all levels of government. They currently have a super majority in Springfield as well right now, so the likelihood that this mileage tax will pass is much higher than the last time they tried passing it.

The state is beyond bankrupt and beyond saving.

The good news is that they shouldn't have any problems legalizing weed now since the whores are so desperate for any new source of tax revenue. Bad news is I'm sure they're not going to allow anybody to grow their own like most other states have done and that will still be a criminal offense.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

You seem to be confused.
Of course all disasters are caused by Democraps, and whenever Democrats have royally hosed things up, they blame Republicans, and Libtards believe every lie they're told.

And since everything Obama, Hilliary, and Rahm have screwed up has been blamed on Trump, I don't see your argument holding water.

A prediction from www.salon.com/2018/12/01/get-ready-for-the-end-game/

With Donald Trump, it's always about the money. He is not going to sit in the White House and watch his business empire suffer the same fate as Paul Manafort, who forfeited $46 million to the government as part of his plea deal. He'll resign with an assurance that he is pardoned for his crimes in the Russia investigation, the same way Nixon resigned with a pardon for his crimes in Watergate. So Russiagate isn't that different from Watergate after all. They will have the same end game.

Do you want to know how to tell Trump realizes how much trouble he is in? On Thursday, as they climbed the stairs to Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews outside Washington D.C., and as they descended the stairs from Air Force One in Argentina, Donald and Melania Trump held hands. It was the first time the president and his wife had touched each other in months. They are massaging the family image, but it’s too little and too late.

Trump aides caught in web of deception over Russia contacts

WASHINGTON — One lied about his knowledge of Russian-hacked emails, another about a Russian real estate deal, a third about dialogue over sanctions with a Russian ambassador.

A pattern of deception by advisers to President Donald Trump, aimed at covering up Russia-related contacts during the 2016 campaign and transition period, has unraveled bit by bit in criminal cases brought by special counsel Robert Mueller.

Faced with Cohen’s admissions in court on Thursday, Trump at first tried to bully his way out of the corner by saying that Cohen was a “weak person and not a very smart person.” But he quickly switched gears and effectively confirmed what Cohen had said. “There was a good chance that I wouldn’t have won [the election], in which case I would have gotten back into the business, and why should I lose lots of opportunities [with Russians]?”

Trump’s comments show the coarse, cynical approach he takes toward public service. But more ominously for him, they also reveal that he had much deeper connections to Russia in the midst of the campaign than he has ever previously acknowledged. It suggests that Trump will lie about his Russian connections until he realizes he can no longer get away with it, and then will quite casually admit that he has been lying all along.

You call it cynical. I call it pragmatic.

This doesn't reveal anything of the sort. It was known that Trump had business dealings with Russia. There are 144 million people living in Russia. Why would you automatically assume that any business he had there was tied to evil Russian high ranking members looking to infiltrate American Government unless that was what you wanted to believe? Further, if Mueller comes out and says that nothing nefarious was going on with Trump and Russia will you drop your 2 year long campaign?

Pragmatic my ass, 6ix. Even with leaders whom he has tried to befriend, Trump hasn’t done so in ways that give him leverage. Russian President Vladimir Putin has corrupted U.S. elections, poisoned exiles in allied nations, and abetted mass killings in Syria — all to no objection from Trump. But now that Trump has an opportunity to exert some pressure over Russia’s recent naval aggression against Ukraine, he’s backed away; he canceled a one-on-one meeting he and Putin were scheduled to hold at the G-20. He canceled the session ostensibly as a protest against Russia’s actions. But a protest would have been more potent if he had held the meeting and made the U.S. position clear, especially since our position on Russia isn’t clear at all. Trump’s Cabinet secretaries and U.N. ambassador denounce Putin for one thing or another, but Trump says little, often contradicting his experts, leaving Putin with the sense that he might get away with whatever he wants to do.

One likely explanation is that Trump didn’t want to have a meeting where he would have to criticize Putin.

And here, special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation comes into play. Just before the summit, Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen revealed that his client was angling to build a Trump Tower in Moscow, even offering Putin the $50 million penthouse apartment, at the same time that he was running for president, promising to restore good relations with Russia if elected and telling his crowds that he had no business deals in that country. This is the blackmail that Putin may have been holding over Trump all along. Quite aside from the scuzzy (and possibly impeachable) nature of this relationship, it precludes Trump—and prevents the United States—from having a coherent policy toward Russia, from dealing with any threats (or opportunities) that Putin poses.

Why can't the U.S. solve Big Problems before the problem boils over into a crisis? The system of government gets in the country’s way. The problems are deeply rooted in the Constitution. It took a brutal Civil War to end slavery. Bankers avoided regulation until the financial system totally collapsed in the early 1930s. Americans saw southern police brutality on their television sets before civil-rights legislation could get through Congress. It is a deliberately poorly designed system of government intended to let the 50 states run pretty much without interference from the Federal Government until there is a MAJOR crisis, as the Constitutional Convention intended back in May 27, 1787 to Sep 17, 1787.

An ex-prosecutor believes that Mueller has a major problem. Can you spot Mueller’s problem?

If Mueller thinks Trump committed a federal crime, his remedy is to recommend impeachment in a report to the attorney general. The attorney general, in turn, is supposed to tell Congress the outcome of the special counsel’s investigation and decide whether the report should be made public. Did you catch the problem? The acting attorney general is Matthew Whitaker, Trump’s creature and a vigorous critic of Mueller’s investigation. Mueller has every reason to expect that Whitaker will suppress the report and limit what he shows to Congress.

A formal report is not, however, Mueller’s only way to tell the Nation (and the GOP controlled senate, which will never impeach) about his conclusions. Mueller could make his report to the Nation through court filings against Trump confederates like Manafort and Cohen. On Monday, Mueller accused Manafort of lying to investigators, breaching his cooperation agreement, and committing further federal crimes. The sentencing briefs will let Mueller tell the story of how Manafort lied about the Trump campaign — and, by extension, lay out the evidence of what the Trump campaign did.

Cohen’s case lets Mueller do the same thing — tell a story, make a report — despite the GOP’s efforts to hush Mueller.

The remarkable thing about Cohen’s plea was its substance. The president of the United States’ personal lawyer admitted to lying to Congress about the president’s business activities with a hostile foreign power, in order to support the president’s story. In any rational era, that would be earthshaking. Now it’s barely a blip. Over the past two years, we’ve become accustomed to headlines like “President’s Campaign Manager Convicted of Fraud” and “President’s Personal Lawyer Paid for Adult Actress’s Silence.” We’re numb to it all. But these are the sorts of developments that would, under normal circumstances, end a presidency.

They still might. Cohen’s plea is only one shoe dropping in a boot warehouse. Who else lied to Congress? They’re not just in danger from Mueller, either. In weeks the Democratic majority will take over the House of Representatives. Control of committees will shift, and subpoenas will fly like arrows at Agincourt. Each hearing will present new terrible choices: Take the Fifth, tell uncomfortable truths, or lie and court perjury charges?

I wouldn’t expect President Trump’s agitated tweets to stop anytime soon.

You're right. The GOP controlled Senate would never impeach. A Democrat controlled Senate couldn't impeach either. It's the House of Representative's job to impeach. It's the Senate's job to either convict or acquit after the impeachment.

The whole deal is that there is vice-President for a reason: to step seamlessly in for Trump. Obviously, you can't recognize that Pence will do exactly the same as Trump, but without all the lying and without being the drama queen. Trump promised a government shutdown to get his wall, but he announced a two week delay. Pence could delay the wall just as easily as Trump will. Trump announced he would delay raising tariffs to 25% on China for 90 days. Pence could delay raising tariffs just as easily. Trump announced he could denuclearize North Korea or else Fire and Fury the likes of which the world will never see from Trump. Pence could do the same nothing to N Korea, too, and he could be just as ineffective as Trump in negotiating with Kim. Climate change? Trump or Pence is 6 of 1, half dozen of the other.

6ix, I don't admire your loyalty to Trump. He is a less useful tool than Pence to get what you want from the federal government. 6ix, you should abandon Trump and switch your loyalty to Pence, who is a clean V.P., not dirty like V.P. Spiro Agnew. Dear old Spiro resigned because he was a bigger crook than Nixon. Or maybe bigger crook even than Trump.

I've got proof that Trump is no better than Obama, so it would not be a big deal to swap Pence for Trump. Trump is such an ineffective slob that the GOP controlled Senate ought to be pleased to fire his fat dumb ass and replace him with Pence.

Prove that he hasn't, you dumb cunt.

The federal debt has been getting steadily bigger and is predicted to increase by $8.5 trillion if Trump stays in office 6 more years. (It started at $20 trillion) The foreign trade deficit is getting worse, not better as Trump promised. Incomes are growing at a feeble rate, same as under Obama. The number of people employed under Trump follows the exact same trend line that it was on during Obama.

America under Trump is doing no better than under Obama. Trump is not providing the superior product performance he promised as a super salesman. But Trump's personal performance has been a little worse on a few things, such as scandals.

I love Trump for good reasons:
1) Multi-million dollar tax cut for me. Each year. Never could have gotten that from Hillary.
2) Trump's emotional instability could ruin the GOP. I hope Trump is not smart enough to resign for the good of his party like Spiro Agnew did. And like Nixon did. With those guys gone, President Ford took charge. He was competent, and he also was not a crook nor a loudmouth drama queen like Spiro, Nixon, and Trump. V.P. Pence would make a fine President, in the manner of Ford.
3) Because Ford pardoned Nixon, Ford was not elected to a second term. I hope V.P. Pence learned that lesson from Ford. Pence can privately, on second though, publicly dangle a pardon in front of Trump to get him to resign, then Pence changes his mind once he is President and does not issue the pardon. Oh, that would be such a funny joke on Trump.

You are right that Trump is not smart enough to resign. Spiro Agnew was, and he had a nice smooth life, mostly playing golf after being Nixon's V.P. Nixon was smart enough. Trump is not so smart. I hope he holds on as long as possible, 6 years even, managing to wreck the GOP and his own life after life in DC. The longer he stays in DC, the longer I get my tax cut and the more likely Texas flips to a majority Democrat state. Trump could hasten that flip if he actually does build the Texas/Mexico Wall. I hope he does and I hope he has to shutdown the government several times to get the money for the wall, pissing on everybody who thinks the wall is a waste of money.

Trump’s total golf expenses — including the cost of his Secret Service detail — currently stand at an estimated $83,000,000. The president played his most recent round on Sunday, Nov. 25, at Trump International. https://qz.com/1481003/

It was not an 'or else' for Spiro Agnew. If he wanted to get rich, the smart move was to resign, followed by cashing in on his fame. The stupid move would be to stay and fight while only being paid his V.P. salary. Spiro got himself into bribery trouble because he was greedy. He was still greedy when he left office and went on to chase after even more money.

To earn his living, he founded a business consultancy, Pathlite Inc., which in the following years attracted a widespread international clientele. Describing his business methods, Agnew said: "I have one utility, and that's the ability to penetrate to the top people." One deal concerned a contract for the supply of uniforms to the Iraqi Army, involving negotiations with Saddam Hussein and Nicolae Ceausescu of Romania. (Both Saddam and Ceausescu died by the hands of their many enemies.)

esignation

In 1980, Agnew published a memoir, Go Quietly ... or Else. In it, he protested his total innocence of the charges that had brought his resignation. Agnew had to be a complete asshole to brazenly complain he was innocent. Students from the George Washington University Law School found four residents of the state of Maryland willing to put their names on a case that sought to have Agnew repay the state $268,482, the amount it was said he had taken in bribes, including interest and penalties, as a public employee. After two appeals by Agnew, he finally wrote a check for $268,482 that was turned over to Maryland in 1983. Paying proved Agnew knew he was a lying asshole. In 1989, Agnew applied for this sum to be treated as tax-deductible. He lost. What a double asshole Agnew was.

Note to Trump: The Mueller Probe Costs Roughly $0.00 – Not $40 Million

As of September, the fiscal cost of the Mueller investigation was roughly $0.00. By that point, the probe had spent roughly $26 million. But, by striking a plea agreement with Paul Manafort for his myriad white-collar crimes — an agreement that required Trump’s former campaign manager to forfeit five multi-million-dollar properties, a life-insurance policy, and the contents of multiple bank accounts — Mueller’s investigation had acquired somewhere between $26 million and $42 million worth of revenue for the federal treasury.

The Mueller probe’s profitability is indicative of more than just Donald Trump’s mendacity: It also reflects the fact that there are few forms of law enforcement more cost-efficient than cracking down on super-rich tax cheats and money launderers. And yet, for some strange reason, the federal law enforcement has not made punishing the financial malfeasance of the super-rich a top-tier priority.

Last week came the astounding revelation that Paul Manafort was acting as a double agent inside Mueller’s office. After Manafort was convicted on multiple counts of bank and tax fraud related to the millions he was paid by Ukrainian clients, he cut a deal with Mueller before his second trial, agreeing to plead guilty and to cooperate with the special counsel. Instead of cooperating, turncoat Manafort was spying and tipping off the president’s lawyers about the prosecution’s areas of interest.

Manafort’s deal then went where it belonged, in the trash. Big jail time should be in store for him, but it is more than likely that he will receive a presidential pardon for being such a standup guy. “I wouldn’t take it off the table,” President Trump said in an Oval Office interview with the New York Post. “Why would I take it off the table?” Mafia dons often dangle protection to silence snitches. But this isn’t the mafia, it’s the White House.

It’s hard to imagine anything lower than what Manafort did. But also trotting on stage last week were the conspiracy-loving tag team of Roger Stone and Jerome Corsi. In a draft court filing related to a collapsed plea deal with Corsi, 72, Mueller also revealed that in email exchanges, Stone told Corsi to get hold of hacked emails from WikiLeaks and that the pair discussed optimum times to release them in order to damage Clinton’s candidacy. Stone and Corsi have ties to Alex Jones’s ultra-right conspiracy site, Infowars, and Corsi was the man behind the false birther campaign against Barack Obama and Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a rightwing group that tried to besmirch John Kerry’s military record in his 2004 bid to become president. Stone is a trickster from way back (he even has a Nixon tattoo on his back).

Trump’s latest tweets cross clear lines, experts say: Obstruction of justice and witness tampering

After the overt attack on Cohen came a tweet encouraging Roger Stone, a longtime adviser to Trump, not to become a witness against him:

Norman Eisen, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, said that the most striking thing about Monday was that there were two statements in proximity.

“It comes very close to the statutory definition of witness tampering,” he said. “It’s a mirror image of the first tweet, only he’s praising a witness for not cooperating with the implication of reward,” he said, adding that Trump has pardon power over Stone.

“We’re so used to President Trump transgressing norms in his public declarations,” Eisen said, “but he may have crossed the legal line.”

I was wondering how long it was going to take one of you to post about that.

NBC News's article on it has just as misleading of a title, but at least for those who read far enough down they get counterpoints from experts that don't agree.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/justice-department/trump-hailed-roger
-stone-standing-mueller-some-legal-experts-said-n943096

Quote:

But others weren't so sure.

Ken White, a criminal defense attorney, told NBC News that he didn't think it was a clear cut case, though the tweet was "the kind of thing that prosecutors would look at carefully."

White pointed out that to make a case against Trump, "you'd have to prove that he had 'corrupt intent' (meaning an illegitimate aim like intimidating Stone into silence) and intended to get Stone to keep answering a particular way."

"It would be an incredibly difficult case, as Trump would say that Stone is already telling the truth and Trump is merely praising him for that," White added in an email. "But it's very norm-violating. And it drives prosecutors crazy."

Other legal experts echoed White.

"Yes, Trump is a walking, breathing, tweeting violation of 18 USC 1512 obstruction," tweeted Jed Shugerman, a Fordham University law professor. "But: Taking this tweet *on its own*, how can it be felony witness tampering to publicly agree with a witness account even if you know he's lying? Too broad an application."

And Renato Mariotti, a former federal prosecutor, also tweeted that it would be difficult for a prosecutor to charge Trump with a crime based on solely the tweet.

Conway, Katyal "and other highly respected attorneys quickly noted that Trump’s tweet looks a lot like witness tampering," Mariotti wrote. "They're right — it does. But proving beyond a reasonable doubt that it’s witness tampering is more challenging than it might seem at first glance."

Long story short... Nothing.

Is this what we were waiting for on Monday, December 3rd, 2018?

Are we already looking forward to the 10th then?
