37 indictments and hundreds of charges filed. That's a witch hunt that's found a coven. Even when Mueller's report is filed the southern district of NY, the courts in DC and Virginia will continue dismantling Trump. I hear there are as many as 15 sealed indictments in Virginia alone.

This is not just a recognition of Trump and his being corrupt, filling our government with the worst of the worst. It's also a recognition of those here who challenge facts with spin on his behalf. There are 7 thousand provable lies that have been told by Trump in the last two years. 7 thousand lies they ignore because they troll, and only troll.

I stand corrected. During the Cohen hearing on Capital Hill it came out Trump has told more like 8 thousand 7 hundred provable lies.

Asked recently about Trump’s attempts to use the Department of Justice to punish his personal enemies, John Dean told CNN, “While I heard [Nixon] break the law on some of those [Watergate] tapes, I never heard him do it by turning on his enemies and trying to put them in jail. This is really very, very heavy sledding.” Dean was even more blunt in another response: “This is the sort of stuff of a banana republic.”

Trump could learn time management skills from President Dwight Eisenhower, who lived one of the most productive lives you can imagine. Use the 'Eisenhower Box' to Stop Wasting Time and Be More Productive:

Eisenhower served two terms from 1953 to 1961. During his time in office, he launched programs that directly led to the development of the Interstate Highway System in the United States, the launch of the internet (DARPA), the exploration of space (NASA), and the peaceful use of alternative energy sources (Atomic Energy Act). Trump won't have that kind of legacy.

Before becoming president, Eisenhower was a five-star general in the United States Army, served as the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe during World War II, and was responsible for planning and executing invasions of North Africa, France, and Germany. Unlike Eisenhower, Trump is not showing an ability to manage large organizations.

At other points along the way, Eisenhower served as President of Columbia University, became the first Supreme Commander of NATO, and somehow found time to pursue hobbies like golfing and oil painting. Trump does find time for golf. At least he's got that.

There was a policy in the justice department not to release any information regarding an investigation unless they were going to indict. The republicans insured the democrats will receive all of Mueller's report, even if the justice department isn't going to indict.

How you ask? The republicans insisted the justice department turn over all the documents regarding the Hillary Clinton investigation. Even thought the justice department was not going to indict.

Opps…Thanks republicans.

House Judiciary to request documents from Trump Jr., dozens in administration

The House Judiciary Committee will request documents on Monday from President Donald Trump's oldest son, his business and more than 60 individuals in his administration, the panel's chair said Sunday.

In an interview with ABC News' "This Week," Rep. Jerry Nadler said the requests for documents are to "begin investigations, to present the case to the American people about obstruction of justice, about corruption and abuse of power."

Getting dirt on your opponent is not "collusion". After all, there is direct evidence that Hillary paid Russians for dirt on Trump by laundering it thru Fusion GPS. Is that collusion with Russia?

what you need to show is "quid pro quo"... this for that. Is there any evidence that Trump promised some sort of policy in return for getting dirt on Hillary? (Also, since no "dirt" was exchanged, you can hardly claim that there was a "qid pro quo" because nothing was received, therefore nothing was expected in return.)

You're grasping at straws, and so is Schiff.

We’re at a most dangerous stage of this US presidency: Trump fatigue is setting in. Trump-related hearings are the opposite of a kangaroo court – the formalities are all correctly observed and the evidence is all there, but the accused will always get off. No reaction ever befits the crime. The bar for impeachment or invoking the 25th amendment is just too high and nebulous, and Trump’s bar of behaviour is just so low.

The challenge now is far bigger than finding a way to outnumber Trump’s support in 2020. It is how to ensure that the sense of futility does not overwhelm the public by then. Take it from someone who grew up in a dictatorship and recognises the surrender of burnout, that the real jeopardy doesn’t start with authoritarianism, it starts with fatigue.

Trump lied about being a competent and self-made billionaire. Also, he cheated on his taxes, but he hasn't gone to jail, so it must not have happened. Except, it did happen: An investigation by The New York Times has revealed that Donald Trump received the equivalent today of at least $413 million from his father’s real estate empire. What’s more, much of this money came to Mr. Trump through dubious tax schemes he participated in during the 1990s, including instances of outright fraud, The Times found.

In all, the president’s parents transferred well over $1 billion in wealth to their children, which could have produced a tax bill of at least $550 million under the 55 percent tax rate on gifts and inheritances that was in place at the time. Helped by a variety of tax dodges, the Trumps paid $52.2 million, or about 5 percent, tax returns show.

The Watergate scandal indicted 69 people, with trials or pleas resulting in 48 being found guilty, many of whom were top Nixon officials. But Nixon wasn’t one of them. Proof that there was no collusion!
www.history.com/news/watergate-where-are-they-now

But Nixon did get caught cheating on his taxes, as has Trump. The IRS, in auditing Nixon, had been negligent and far less questioning than it would have been for any other taxpayer. The revelation that Nixon had paid less than $6,000 in federal income tax while earning more than $790,000 of aggregate income during 1970, 1971, and 1972 caused a public outcry. Nixon's taxes were an issue that average citizens readily understood as compared to the constitutional issues raised by the Watergate investigation. Most taxpayers -- with far less income than Nixon -- had paid more federal income tax than the president. Apparently, Trump voters who pay taxes aren’t as smart as Nixon voters who paid taxes.

Amazingly, fraud was not mentioned either by the IRS or by the committee report. However, the House Judiciary Committee, which was considering the impeachment of Nixon, stated that it might investigate the possibility of tax fraud. It did not.

The Presidential Tax Return project has Nixon's returns, but not Trump's, because he won't allow it. Trump's V.P. has made available 10 years of his returns because he might be President someday.

On July 30, under coercion from the Supreme Court, Nixon released the Watergate tapes. On August 5, transcripts of the recordings were released, including a segment in which the president was heard instructing Haldeman to order the FBI to halt the Watergate investigation. On August 8, Nixon resigned. Trump outdid Nixon. Trump didn’t need a Haldeman. Trump talked directly to the head of the FBI and told him to stop the investigation.

What you should have learned is that the GOP controlled Senate won’t remove a President. Even Nixon, the most wicked President, who killed millions in Cambodia, could not be removed. Nixon quit for the good of his party because GOP Senators told him to get out now. The GOP could only win the next Presidential election if Nixon quit immediately. Trump won’t quit for the good of his party. He’s not as good as Nixon.

www.history.com/this-day-in-history/nixon-resigns

Reporters and political commentators often express surprise at the steadfast support of President Trump from most Republicans in the House and Senate. But they shouldn’t — it has happened before. In fact, when these critics refer back to the Watergate era as a time of bipartisan commitment to the rule of law over politics, they get it exactly wrong. Defending the president at all costs, blaming investigators and demonizing journalists was all part of the Republican playbook during the political crisis leading up to the resignation of President Richard Nixon. House Republican leader Gerald Ford (who later succeeded Mr. Nixon as president) called it a “political witch hunt”.

That's all nice and interesting, but what it will really do is reduce the number of votes he gets in 2020. If he loses that election, then his problems begins. He will pardon himself for everything, and after years of litigation the GOP controlled Supreme Court will agree he can, but his tax cheating will finally catch up with him. Same as Nixon and his Vice President Agnew, Trump won't go to jail for anything, but he can't pardon his way out of paying his taxes. Agnew had to pay his taxes. Nixon had to pay his taxes despite President Ford pardoning Nixon. Trump will pay, too, but only after a long, long litigation process, much like this:

Students of Professor John F. Banzhaf III from the George Washington University Law School found four residents of the state of Maryland willing to put their names on a case that sought to have Agnew repay the state $268,482, the amount it was said he had taken in bribes, including interest and penalties, as a public employee. After two appeals by Agnew, he finally paid the sum in 1983. In 1989, Agnew applied unsuccessfully for this sum to be treated as tax-deductible.

How many people has Trump pardoened so far?

(Here's a hint: Six pardons, two commutations)

How many people did Bill Clinton pardon?

(Here's another hint: 42 commutations and 450 pardons). Now, of those Clinton pardons, how many were involved in scandal?

Aside from pardoning Susan Mcdougal, who protected the Clintons from the the fallout of the Whitewater scandal, Clinton pardoned Marc Rich, whose ex-wife donated $450,000 dollars to the Clinton library and $1,000,000 to the Clinton campaign.

Signym, I can run a company AND comment on Trump: Daniel Dale of the Toronto Star, who has spent more time than most listening to Trump speeches and meticulously detailing his relentless lies, confidently declared that the CPAC address was the most bizarre of Trump’s presidency. Trump’s creepy CPAC address is just the latest example of his public unraveling. There’s not one working member of the Washington press corps who watched Trump’s epic and unsettling CPAC meltdown and thought, “He’s seems stable, and I have no questions about his mental capacity.”

Signym, you never called Trump your Rock of Gibraltar, he was your "loose cannon". Do you remember Trump chanting "Lock her up"? Remember that if Korea makes one more threat "They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen"? Trump is not a guy who takes his words or his job seriously. He is a clown, maybe insane. Thousands of mental health professionals agree: Trump is dangerous. He obviously has psychological symptoms reflective of emotional compulsion, impulsivity, poor concentration, narcissism and recklessness.

I listened to the speech, the WHOLE speech, not just some snippets picked out for you by a relentlessly hostile press. Trump was having fun; he was sometimes joking and sometimes being sarcastic and at times he stretched the truth until it snapped, but overall I didn't find anything particularly worrisome. That's just a NYC-style of storytelling. Heard it before many times from lots of people who are btw bright and insightful. Grab a beer, remove that stick that's up your ass, and relax.

MY problem with Trump has nothing to do with his speaking style. It's that he's consistently appointed the wrong people and that his foreign policy ... the one area where he CAN make a difference .... is constantly being derailed by people like Bolton and Kushner.

Many of Clintons other pardons ran into severe criticism too: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Clinton_pardons_controversy

I look at the Clinton family as a crime family; do you? And, why not?

You yipe about the stupidest things, JO. Stop being like SECOND. If you're going to yipe about Trump, why not do it over things that are important? And if not that, at least yipe about things that are different than the Clintons?

Jo said indictments, not pardons - do you know the difference? Do you know presidents do the majority of their pardons right before their term is up? And if the last 10 presidents were criminals would that make any difference to what Trump is? Of course not - but you know that. O, the web we weave, when at first... That's what happens when you're fueled by being a Trump fan girl.

Trump has fired thousands of people in his life. He has fired most of his cabinet. He could fire the people Signym wants fired. But he has not, perhaps because he does not truly share Signym's goals? Perhaps he is a great big fraud who never intended keeping his campaign promises? And perhaps his peculiar stage performances are intended to distract his audiences from the actual substance of Trump's policies and its failure?

That leaves the question: Who is Trump trying to please? Maybe Rupert Murdoch of FOX, the same corp that cancelled Firefly. Trump certainly has a lot of sympathy from the leading FOX news and commentary personalities. "Why the Trump-Fox News relationship really is unprecedented"
www.cnn.com/2019/03/04/opinions/trump-fox-news-new-yorker-jane-mayer-h
emmer/index.html

One metric: the steady flow of personnel from Fox News to the Trump White House. For the Trump administration, appearances on Fox News have often served as the first step in the interview process. That is, no doubt, how Bush administration official and hawk John Bolton wound up in the White House, despite the fact that Trump regularly bashes interventionism.

But Bolton is just one of many former Fox News folks in the administration. There's Tony Sayegh in Treasury and Mercedes Schlapp in communications. Trump recently nominated Heather Nauert, former "Fox and Friends" host turned State Department spokeswoman, to become the next ambassador to the United Nations (having no experience outside broadcast journalism, her appointment was resisted until she finally withdrew -- reportedly for other reasons). Behind the scenes, Sean Hannity, who last year spoke in support of Trump at one of his rallies, regularly advises the President.

Fox News spins desperately to shield lawless president from accountability
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/03/05/fox-news-spins-desp
erately-shield-lawless-president-accountability/?noredirect=on&utm_source=reddit.com&utm_term=.6efacb074f36

Now that President Trump is heading into a new period of intensified scrutiny from congressional Democrats, even as the special counsel’s investigation approaches its climax, Trump’s political health — and, possibly, his survival as well — depends more than ever on the massive propaganda apparatus that is busily toiling away on his behalf.

Central to this effort is Fox News. Fox personalities are now responding to the new Democratic investigative push, and the true dimensions of their efforts are coming into clearer focus: Precisely because Trump has committed extremely serious misconduct and wrongdoing on so many fronts, some of Fox’s leading voices are resorting to portraying any and all oversight directed at the president as fundamentally illegitimate.

Another way of putting this is that Fox personalities are arguing that Trump should be above accountability — that is, above the law. They don’t put it this way, but this is what they’re really saying.

The sheer Orwellian up-is-downism here is remarkable. Lou Dobbs claimed Democrats are engaged in a “search for a crime” and are “following the lead of Robert Mueller and the radical Dem corruption of both the FBI and the Department of Justice.” One guest scoffed that Mueller had been empowered to investigate crimes he came across “in the process of investigating whatever the heck it was he was authorized to investigate.”

Let me help here: Mueller was authorized to investigate a hostile foreign power’s massive and deliberate subversion of U.S. democracy, which it undertook to get Trump elected president. In service of that end, Mueller has already created a remarkably detailed portrait of the scope and reach of this sabotage effort. In addition to this, Mueller was authorized to investigate whether the Trump campaign colluded with that subversion effort, and other matters that arose in the process.

What these folks are really saying, then, is that investigating this attack on our democracy — regardless of whether conspiracy happened — is itself corrupt and illegitimate. That Trump benefited from illicit help in getting elected — whether or not he would have won without it is irrelevant — must not be acknowledged. Needless to say, nor can the fact that Trump’s top campaign officials eagerly tried to conspire in that effort (which Trump subsequently tried to conceal from the American people).

SECOND, every time I read your post and I get that Charlie Brown whuhwhahwuuwhaehu sound in my head. I have no idea who the fuck you think you're posting to. It's like you're trying to "break" my "faith" in Trump when I had no "faith" to begin with. I had three objectives when I voted for Trump, remember? Had nothing to do with him being a nice guy or a great speaker or draining the swamp or making America great again or balancing the budget or being a man of the people. I did call him a national capitalist, remember?

I hope I'm judging him by those three objectives. So far he's made better progress on two of the three, far better than Hillary would have, and made complete hash of the third. Trump deserves criticisms but not on the random and hate filled grounds that you constantly fling at the board.
