But, all too obviously, no GOP Senator will vote GUILTY, so the whole point of impeaching Trump is moot.

Right.

So you've said...

does not require a vote of Senators. If the House of Representatives find that Trump underpaid, Trump won't be able to wiggle out of paying, but he can delay until he is either dead or runs out of tax court appeals. He won't voluntarily pay, I predict. He will fight to the death.

What the fuck are they waiting for then?

Or move to Florida, to continue the fight in a Southern Federal Court, which might be more likely than a New York Federal Court to allow his lawyers to delay.

Moving to Florida does not get Trump out of any hot water he would be in, in the State of New York.

IF TRUE... New York can and will go after any tax cheating that went on. Didn't one of you bozos already show a link to a story stating that somebody in New York was going after him for this?

Seriously, Second... Do you honestly believe that if you didn't pay your taxes in one state for the last 5 years that you can just move out of state and that's forgiven?

I already know you don't. That's your TDS talking for you.

Seems that nobody gives a shit about the Ukraine bullshit or the impeachment bullshit anymore.

It was awesome how Trump goaded the Gang of Four and the rest of the extreme left into forcing Nancy to formalize the impeachment proceedings against her will.

That old lady is going to have a heart attack. She never wanted it to get this far. She only wanted the specter of impeachment hanging over his head in the run up to the election. Now that it's formalized, it could play hell on the Democrat candidate's debate schedules since they can be sequestered at any time and taken off their campaign trails at a moment's notice. Not only that, but they can be kept in DC off the trail for 6 out of 7 days of any given week.

This doesn't effect Biden, but it will basically knock Sanders and Warren out of the race for good.

LOL... This will be funny. With Warren and Sanders too busy wasting 6 hours a day in impeachment proceedings, maybe the top three will be Biden, Bloomberg and Buttigieg.

We'll call them "The B Team"

If you look at Trump's approval rating going back to 2017, it has not changed. The people who approve of him are not taking in any new information about him. If you look at other presidents, their approval ratings change with each new day's news. Not so with Trump. Here are approval ratings all the way back to Truman and Eisenhower:
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval-ratings/voters/

All Presidents have strong fluctuations, except not Trump. At least not after Mueller became Special Counsel. After, Trump's approval rating became steadier than any other President's in history.

Trump may well win, but that is not how you, 6ix, personally win or get ahead in the world. That is how Trump gets ahead in the world, as he has been doing the last 40 years, taking advantage of suckers who can't understand how he plays the game.

If Trump makes some spectacular mistake, for example, crashing the economy like Bush did in the Great Recession of 2008, and the 42% who always approve of whatever Trump does continue to stay onboard the Titanic captained by Trump, the 42% will go down with his ship. You already sank in 2008, did you not? Trump will have his own lifeboat as did Bush.

You will almost drown, as you almost drowned after 2008. Tough for you, but not Trump's problem. It is the problem for the 42% who are natural born suckers, screwed out of their money by people like Trump. They will find new Trumps to vote for after old Trump is gone. The lower 50% of the population will dependably find a way to sabotage themselves, to keep themselves on the bottom, so that the new Trumps can take the money away.

If Trump wins a second term, he will become more entertaining. I look forward to: "He was never completely hinged... The trip from where he was to unhinged, as he is now -- that was not a long trip."

Trump’s behavior in office was never all that even-keeled. But under the pressure of an impeachment inquiry, he appears more aggrieved. “He was never completely hinged,” another former White House official told me. “The trip from where he was to unhinged, as he is now—that was not a long trip.” (The president, for his part, has called himself a “very stable genius.”) Now, he’s tweeting more than ever and spiking his public appearances with profanity and name-calling.

There’s a certain frenzy to the performances. In one six-minute span at a rally last week in Mississippi, Trump abandoned the teleprompter and darted from topic to topic with all the forethought of a pinball banging off the bumpers: “Spying” on his 2016 campaign. Biden-family “corruption.” Hillary Clinton’s missing emails. The Green Party’s Jill Stein. The Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard. The Russia “hoax.” The “dishonest” news media. The 2016 election. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s acting skills. “Barack Hussein Obama.” A Trump-Biden TV debate and the lackluster ratings it would get. That “poor bastard” Beto O’Rourke. Truth as an unstoppable force.

Albeit with limited success, former aides tried to give Trump’s day some structure. They’d wait for him to come down from the residence, at around 11 a.m. eastern time. He’d have a meeting or two, then eat lunch and, often, retreat to his private study to read newspapers and watch TV-news coverage. He might then have another meeting before returning to the residence. “That was his day,” the person close to the White House told me.

A former White House official who is still in touch with his colleagues in the building described Trump’s routine these days as follows: “He comes down to the residence whenever he wants and leaves whenever he wants. He has a meeting if he wants—or he doesn’t have a meeting. He’s totally in control, and if he wants or needs something, he does it.” (That’s a much lighter schedule than other presidents in the modern era have kept. One November day at a comparable point in his presidency, Ronald Reagan worked from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., taking part in a nonstop series of nearly 20 meetings, briefings, news interviews, photo ops, and phone calls.)

ite-house/601537

5 years from now, the job will have made Trump 50 pounds heavier and 50% crazier. It should be fun to watch. The alternative? A Democratic President being tortured by GOP Senators. I pity that Democrat because you know the Republicans will blame the cause of Trump's personal failure on the Democrats impeaching him for his personal failings, you know, his lying, his disorganized office routine, his general laziness, his crookedness, his tax cheating, and his non-stop mouth saying whatever pops into his head. Very entertaining guy, but also a very bad CEO.

Top White House official told Congress ‘there was no doubt’ Trump sought quid pro quo with Ukrainians

Under questioning from Rep. Peter Welch (Vt.) and other Democrats, Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman said “there was no doubt” about what Trump wanted when he spoke by phone July 25 with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky — particularly in contrast with an April call between the two leaders shortly after Zelensky’s election.

There is a sizable number of Republican senators and representatives who believe Trump’s actions are at least theoretically impeachable, who believe a thorough fact-finding mission is necessary, who believe his removal from office is not an altogether radical idea.

But it’s also evident that, barring a plain admission of guilt by the president himself—think Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men—the Republican Party will not be forsaking Trump. He could lose a stray vote in the House, maybe even two, when articles of impeachment come to the floor. He could fare even worse in the Senate, knowing that more than a few of the 53 Republican jurors might be tempted etch their names in the history books at his expense. None of this will alter his standing atop the party; none of this will change the fact that he is president through January 2021 and perhaps beyond.

I almost drowned because I became an alcoholic. I was already somewhat on my way when I was still working that high paying, soulless job. My behavior from back as far as 2007 in even the regular forums here outside of the RWED was plenty of evidence of that.

Meanwhile, outside of the property tax payment for the 2nd half of this year I'll be making this week, I've been doing all of the work I've done on the house and paying all of my regular bills including car insurance and eating healthily for less than $150 per week since I was laid off at the end of June. If we add the property taxes, it's $180 per week. I'll also be getting a $300 credit on my income taxes for my property taxes in April, so really, it's only around $162 per week I've spent.

Meanwhile, I've gone from worrying about having to dump the house for cash to whoever would buy it to making it worth at least what I paid for it 8 years ago, and I'm going to continue to work on the inside of the house during the winter while I'm waiting to continue on with the outside work that needs to be done in the spring. My plan is to be able to sell this house for twice what I paid for it by putting another $10,000 into it.

Trump's not going to lower the minimum wage. I'll be able to work any near minimum wage shit job out there and continue to pay my bills and fund my house project.

As long as I don't go back to drinking, I'm going to be just fine whoever is president. That's all on me.

I don't give two shits about money beyond what I need to survive. You're making the wrong argument to the wrong guy here buddy.

What I'm tired of is the nanny state, the censorship, the cultural appropriation, the PC bullshit, and having to hear every day about what an awful person I am because I'm a white dude. I'm tired of the Legacy Media lying through its teeth everyday and getting pissed off that everybody isn't buying their shit anymore. I'm tired about hearing that they're going to give free healthcare to non-citizens while 35 Million US citizens don't have healthcare. I'm tired of hearing that they're going to pay for kids college with middle class tax dollars instead of fixing the problems with the system that got us here in the first place.

Democrats offer me nothing, and want to take from everybody I know and care about. Not me, of course. I have nothing to take.

Democrats are shit.

But win or lose, my life isn't made any easier. I got myself in this mess. It's on me to get myself out of it.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Republicans attempt to move impeachment inquiry away from Trump

House Republicans on Saturday pressed ahead with their efforts to move the impeachment inquiry away from President Trump, calling on Democrats to add witnesses to the probe including former vice president Joe Biden’s son and the whistleblower whose initial complaint kicked off the investigation.

First, for the republicans to get what they want, the White house has to cooperate. Since that isn’t happening, Adam Schiff will not let any attempts by the republicans to deflect succeed.

Giuliani Associate Says He Gave Demand for Biden Inquiry to Ukrainians

Not long before the Ukrainian president was inaugurated in May, an associate of Rudolph W. Giuliani’s journeyed to Kiev to deliver a warning to the country’s new leadership, a lawyer for the associate said.

The associate, Lev Parnas, told a representative of the incoming government that it had to announce an investigation into Mr. Trump’s political rival, Joseph R. Biden Jr., and his son, or else Vice President Mike Pence would not attend the swearing-in of the new president, and the United States would freeze aid, the lawyer said.

As much as jack kiki and sig try and change the subject, the truth of it is Trump attempted to bribe and extort a foreign leader for his own personal gain.

Don't think for a minute, that when Giuliani heard this that he didn't know unless he does something fast he is going to jail.

I am sure that Trump won't sign a bill in the next 5 years raising the minimum wage. That is a reason to be rid of him. Democrats actually would increase wages. Chief Justice John Roberts, who's clashed with Trump, would oversee impeachment trial

If President Donald Trump faces an impeachment trial in the U.S. Senate, it would mark the third time in history a U.S. Supreme Court chief justice would have to preside over the affair -- but the first time for one who has clashed openly with the very president whose fate hangs in the balance.

You really should leave the basement jsf and read a newspaper. You are way out of touch.

Now pay attention folks. This means Roberts will have to allow for the Senate to acquit in the face of overwhelming evidence. I can't wait to see how that goes over with him. I can't wait to see if he'll allow Republicans to badger witnesses.

Dude...

What you fail to understand is all of those questions you're asking me are the very same questions I'm asking you.

I don't understand where you are coming from at all. It's like we're watching two entirely different movies play out here.

I haven't changed at all. The Democrats and the Republicans have over the last 10 years.

Democrats are now the party of pro war, pro censorship, and absolute moralism. They have become everything I hated about the Republican party from the GWB era all the way back to the early 80's when I was growing up.

And, BTW, not sure if you knew it, but the post you quoted here was directed at the idiot T. I know you just can't help yourself, but I do try not to be an asshole when I talk to you.

I saw her on Firing Line a couple months back, and the self-justifying bullshit that came out of her mouth should have made her feel at least a little embarrassed.

She's got about as much credibility as Hillary.

Trump better be innocent of any wrong doing, anywhere, anytime. Are you willing to put money on that?

There’s a Surprisingly Plausible Path to Removing Trump From Office

It would take just three Republican senators to turn the impeachment vote into a secret ballot. It’s not hard to imagine what would happen then.

By JULEANNA GLOVER, November 12, 2019

Juleanna Glover has worked as an adviser for several Republican politicians, including George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, John Ashcroft and Rudy Giuliani, and advised the presidential campaigns of John McCain and Jeb Bush.

It’s true that none of the previous Senate impeachments have been conducted via secret ballot. But the Senate’s role in an impeachment is analogous to a U.S. jury, where secret ballots are often used. When Electoral College gridlock has resulted in the House picking the president — the House elected Thomas Jefferson in 1800 and John Quincy Adams in 1824 — that vote has been secret. And, of course, when citizens vote for president, they do so in private.

Trump and those around him seem confident that he won’t lose the 20 Republican senators needed to block a guilty verdict. But it’s not hard to imagine three senators supporting a secret ballot. Five sitting Republican senators have already announced their retirements; four of those are in their mid-70s or older and will never run for office again. They might well be willing to demand secrecy in order to give cover to their colleagues who would like to convict Trump but are afraid to do so because of politics in their home districts. There are also 10 Republican senators who aren’t up for reelection until 2024 and who might figure Trumpism will be irrelevant by then. Senators Mitt Romney and Lisa Murkowski have been the most vocal Republicans in expressing concerns about Trump’s behavior toward Ukraine. Other GOP senators have recently softened in their defense of him, as well—all before the House has held any public hearings.

GOP strategist Mike Murphy said recently that a sitting Republican senator had told him 30 of his colleagues would vote to convict Trump if the ballot were secret. Former Senator Jeff Flake topped that, saying he thought 35 Republican senators would vote that way.

Three years into his eight year term in office, why does Trump still run a international real estate operation when that conflicts with American foreign policy? What happened to the blind trust that Trump promised, but never delivered, to handle these conflicts of interest between Trump's family business and Trump's foreign policy? For one example, why did protecting Trump Towers Istanbul take precedence over the Syrian Kurds? We will never know because Trump will say he did not think about his portfolio in Turkey when he made his decisions about Turkey. And the Senate will let Trump get away with that conflict of interest.

Trump Assets are in a Revocable, Not Blind, Trust
www.voanews.com/usa/report-trump-assets-revocable-not-blind-trust
Many U.S. presidents have placed their financial holdings in a blind trust that is managed by a trustee without any input from the president. This arrangement is believed to help the president avoid any conflicts of interest between his finances and issues that come across his desk. Donald Trump, however, has avoided calls for him to sell his assets or place them in a blind trust.

The key to the success of a blind trust is that you can, as a public official, make choices that won't have the appearance of being influenced by your holdings - you don't know what those holdings are. Transferring control of the assets solves one problem (management) but doesn't change the fact that Trump still knows what he owns. He knows how his actions, as President, can affect his business interests even if he's no longer in charge. That isn't a problem you can solve by simply turning over the keys.

1kiki, Trump spun around on the weekend when Turkey came calling about Syria. Trump caught everybody at the Pentagon by surprise when he announced he was moving troops without any explanation of why it is suddenly an emergency. The "why" is his Turkish real estate. He'll deny it, but who believes him? Trump does this kind of emergency spin all the time. For example: Trump suggested he did nothing wrong because Ukraine ultimately received the aid he withheld. But that talking point ignores the fact that aid was only released after the CIA’s top lawyer reportedly made a criminal referral to the DOJ about the July Trump-Zelensky phone call and on the same day House Democrats announced they were opening an inquiry into the matter. If you get caught robbing a bank and decide to leave the cash and make a break for it, that doesn’t mean you didn’t do anything wrong.

Trump's been saying we need to stay out of Syria since 2013; and saying we need to get out of Syria for nearly 2 years.

On The Record: President Trump Vs. Private Citizen Trump On Syria
Trump's criticism of Obama's policy on Syria goes back to 2013. A private citizen at that time, he argued that the U.S. should not get involved in the conflict.

The 'intelligence arm' of covert ops, the warhwaks in the State Department, and the military have been countermanding, derailing, and slow-walking Trump's Syria policies his whole administration. (Why do you think he sent Barr and Giuliani all around the globe to do what he was telling his admin to do - to no avail?*)

And while you have literally NOTHING to support your fantasies about a conversation you know absolutely nothing about, I can tell you these FACTS: 1) the very week Turkey and Russia announced that Turkey was going to join Russia's SPFS (SWIFT alternative) Turkey started massing troops on the Syrian border, and 2) the very week the SPFS link-up was connected and tested, Erdogan and Trump talked on the phone.

AT THE TIME, there were somewhat less than 50 US troops in the area of concern. I think w/out the non-military SWIFT bludgeon, Trump had few options left. AFAIK there were 2 choices - increase troops and enter a full-on war with Turkey, or get out of the way.

(*ETA: Do you remember the big hue and cry when Trump gutted the State Department early in his admin? I do. He knew there was a whole cadre of people committed to a Deep State agenda THAT DIDN'T MATCH HIS OWN. Yanno, the Deep State's - RUSSIA!! the bogeyman agenda, the Ukraine proxy-war agenda, the Syria proxy-war agenda ... The problem is, he didn't go deep enough at State, or wide enough to encompass the intel agencies and the Pentagon.)

There should NEVER be a secret ballot.

Please take five seconds to think about how you'd feel if the opposing side was doing something before you agree with anybody on your side that said something is a good idea.
