Although richer than 99.9% of Republican voters, Trump is pretty typical of a Republican and that is why they voted for him rather than somebody a little calmer, like any of the other Republicans running in the GOP primary, except for wacko Ted Cruz, who came in second in the Primaries because he flies off the handle, same as Trump.

Most of the Trump voters I know have some serious mental glitches so they feel comfortable with unstable Trump, who is much the same as they are. But the position of President needs somebody who is much steadier under pressure than most Republican voters or else America gets chaotic decision-making in the White House whenever the President feels overwhelmed by his duties. Trump sure is acting overwhelmed.

That guy can't be sleeping well -- he tweets late at night, yet gets too little accomplished during the day. He might have insomnia keeping him awake at night. I wonder if Trump is making decisions under the influence of Lunesta, Sonata, or Ambien to manage insomnia? That would explain a great deal about his generalized nuttiness. He recently gave a very strange interview showing he is not all there, at least mentally. But isn't that why Trump voters love him? www.vox.com/2018/11/27/18115395/trumps-washington-post-interview-gut

President Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani could face being called as a witness or even charged with obstruction of justice if he overstepped the mark in his dealings with Paul Manafort’s legal team, according to legal analysts.

Trump has a well-earned reputation for saying things he doesn’t follow up on. The mere fact that he’s floating a Manafort pardon doesn’t mean that one will happen.

Nonetheless, in this case, not only would a pardon be a stunning abuse of power — even publicly dangling the pardon is. By traditional standards of American governance, these are clear impeachable offenses. But Republicans in Congress have stood behind Trump regardless of how inappropriately he’s behaved, which makes moving forward with the congressional impeachment process pointless.

The fact that Trump’s co-partisans decline to restrain him in any way makes the American constitutional system borderline unworkable.

I disagree. Mainly because no Republicans in the Senate understand that the essence of abuse of power is that an official is abusing powers he genuinely possesses. They keep circling back to the idea that it is only abuse if the President does NOT genuinely have the power.

The reason to dangle a pardon before Paul Manafort is obvious: He’s guilty of serious financial crimes, in major legal trouble because of his guilt, and is also in a position to offer damaging testimony against members of Trump’s inner circle. Trump, however, is in a position to get Manafort off the hook legally if Manafort agrees to protect him, his family, and his associates.

That would be a straightforward transaction, and the US Constitution is clear that Trump has the legal authority to do it. Therefore 100% of GOP Senators have no problem with it. I have not even found any Trump voters who can understand that legal authority to do it does not make it right. Maybe there is a Senator or a voter out there who understands, but they don't want to speak up. If a deranged Trump fan were to get a gun and massacre Mueller’s entire team on the streets of Washington, for example, Trump would have the unquestionable legal authority to pardon the killer. DC is not a state, so murder is a federal crime there — and Trump can pardon anyone for any violation of federal law for any reason. So a pardon is the right thing to do, right? At least if you are a GOP Senator, although you might have to worry about not speaking against the pardon means you, maybe, won't be reelected. Probably safer to say nothing about pardons, one way or the other, and hope the Republican voters forgive you.

If 20 GOP Senators and 47 Democratic Senators would pledge to impeach Trump if he pardons his way out of Mueller's investigation, Trump would probably stop his talk of giving pardons to his buddies. But there are zero GOP Senators who would make the pledge.

Did you ever once consider that he might have been paying $14 million too much? It isn't out of the question.

Though we're talking about peanuts compared to what Trump's obligations were, I managed to cut my own property taxes by more than half without even having to get a lawyer involved.

Michael Cohen's latest plea deal shows Mueller's 'starting to finally get to the truth' behind Trump and Russia

Michael Cohen's latest plea deal with the special counsel Robert Mueller has far-reaching implications for President Donald Trump, as well as other witnesses in the Russia investigation.

Cohen pleaded guilty to one count of lying to Congress, marking the first time the special counsel has prosecuted someone for making false statements to Congress, as opposed to the FBI.

"Today's plea deal has certainly shown that anyone who has lied to Congress before about the Russia probe, you don't have to wait for Congress to bring any sort of contempt charge — Mueller will take care of that for them," one Justice Department veteran told INSIDER.

The deal also ascribes a potential motive to Trump for his repeated deference to Russia. "The motive is money and business deals," an expert in criminal law said. "This gives Mueller the last piece of the puzzle."

The deal adds context to other meetings and financial dealings between campaign associates and Russians during the election. "When you start to see corroboration from two people who didn't intersect, as far as plea deals and the time period, and the same facts, that tells you as a prosecutor that you're starting to finally get to the truth," the Justice Department veteran added.

Prosecutors in the Russia investigation made one of their most consequential moves on Thursday when they announced that they had struck a plea deal with Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's former longtime lawyer.

According to a criminal information against Cohen filed by the special counsel Robert Mueller's office, Cohen pleaded guilty to one count of lying to Congress about his Russia contacts last year.

Cohen also pleaded guilty earlier this year to tax evasion, bank fraud, and campaign-finance violations as part of a separate investigation by the Manhattan US attorney's office. He has been cooperating with that inquiry and the Mueller probe since August.

Mueller has already shown a willingness to prosecute witnesses who lie to the FBI, including Michael Flynn, Trump's former national security adviser, George Papadopoulos, a former Trump campaign aide, and Rick Gates, the former deputy campaign chairman.

But Cohen's plea deal with Mueller marks the first time the special counsel has prosecuted someone for making false statements to Congress.

Trump’s 2016 Case for Easing Russia Sanctions Gains New Relevance After Cohen Plea

WASHINGTON — In late March 2016, steaming toward the Republican nomination and with his aides still secretly in talks for a real estate deal in Russia, Donald J. Trump made a lengthy case for giving President Vladimir V. Putin what he wanted most: relief from American-led sanctions for his annexation of Crimea.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

So I've been wondering why our local zombies have been slobbering on the board so much lately - and it's because the media has been beaming propaganda straight into their mushy brainz.

Yesterday there were - not one - but SIX anti-Trump (articles)opinion pieces in the WaPo. As many in CNN. Four in the NYTimes.

Today in CNN there's an anti-Trump 'article' (one of several) in the news section "The smoke around Donald Trump and Russia is choking his presidency". And while the 'article' admits right up front that there's no evidence of collusion, it spends the rest of its pointless space making a big deal about non-existent deals. Which it then admits Trump never lied about. "Now, even in light of Cohen's plea deal Thursday, Trump wasn't outright lying in any of those quotes." Before it accuses him of being untruthful. "But man, he is cutting it very, very close. If he's not outright lying, then he's not telling anything close to the full truth either."

WHO GIVES A FUCK.

Saint Obama didn't come right out and tell people he was assassinating Americans - sans trial and guilty verdict. Which one is more heinous?

To hell with all you lobotomized idiots. All you care about is your 'team' winning. As far as you're concerned, fuck democracy, fuck justice, fuck an independent press, fuck everyone not on your 'side'.

Well, fuck you too.

Trump’s company planned to give a $50 million penthouse at Trump Tower Moscow to Russian President Vladimir Putin as the company negotiated the luxury real estate development during the 2016 campaign, according to four people, one of them the originator of the plan.

Michael Cohen, Trump’s personal lawyer at the time, discussed the idea with a representative of Dmitry Peskov, Putin’s press secretary.

Cohen acknowledged in court that he had lied to Congress about the plan in order to protect Trump and his presidential campaign.

The revelation that representatives of the Trump Organization planned to forge direct financial links with the leader of a hostile nation at the height of the campaign raises fresh questions about President Trump’s relationship with the Kremlin.

The Joss Whedon script for Serenity, where Wash lives, is Serenity-190pages.pdf at https://www.mediafire.com/two

The question at the heart of the Russia investigation has always been one of motive. Why has Donald Trump, both as a candidate and as the President, been so solicitous of Russia and of its leader, Vladimir Putin? Why did Trump praise Putin so obsequiously during the campaign? Why did the Trump campaign steer the Republican Party platform in a more pro-Russia direction? Why does Trump still refuse to criticize Putin and Russian actions around the world?

The guilty plea that Michael Cohen, Trump’s former personal attorney, entered on Thursday morning, at a federal-court hearing in Manhattan, goes a long way toward answering those questions. Once again, with Trump, it seems, the answers come down to money.

The timing of Cohen’s guilty plea is significant. It seems that the prosecution team, led by Robert Mueller, the special counsel, delayed Cohen’s admission of guilt until after Trump and his legal team had submitted the President’s written answers to Mueller’s questions, which he did earlier this month. Mueller surely asked Trump about the Moscow negotiation, and the President’s answers were likely locked in before he and his lawyers could factor in Cohen’s admissions. If those answers were to conflict with Cohen’s latest version of events, it would potentially be a matter of great peril for the President.

It’s true that Trump had the right to do business in Russia during the time when he was a candidate, but the public also had a right to know where his true financial interests lay. It would have been highly relevant to the public to learn that Trump was negotiating a business deal with Russia at the same time that he was proposing to change American policy toward that country. Not only was the public deprived of this information but Cohen’s guilty plea indicates that voters were actively misled about Trump’s interests. That is what is so important about Thursday morning’s news—it says that while Trump was running for President, he was doing his private business, not the public’s business. Trump may believe that his interest is the national interest, but it wasn’t true then, and it’s not true now.

To hell with all you lobotomized traitors. All you care about is your 'team' winning. As far as you're concerned, fuck democracy, fuck justice, fuck an independent press, fuck everyone not on your 'side'.

Yup.

Look at this piece by the Washington Post here Kiki:

If you hover over the word "Analysis" just above that gem of an article title, it will tell you what Analysis means "Interpretation of the news based on evidence, including data, as well as anticipating how events will unfold based off of past events".

This is news now.

It used to be that you had to go to Vox or Buzzfeed for pieces like this. Now you can get them straight from the Washington Post.

Now, since "You voted for Trump? You must be a Nazi." didn't work, I suppose the hope is "You voted for Trump? You must be a micro penis." will.

Grand Jury convene today. Will we see any indictments?

Keep looking at the total picture. Don't be distracted by the, if Trump can do something or not argument. The Trump Tower in Russia story is not just important because of all of Trumps denials. All his, he has or had nothing going on with Russia statements.

It's important because it shows there was a quid pro quo going on with the Russians. Like helping Trump win the election. It's going to come out in detail again how Trump and the Russians go back to 1987. This time in indictments. Not just something reported on in the press some here can easily dismiss.

As Gollum would say, don't follow the lights.

So when he denied having business dealings of any kind with Russia 51 times, and then it comes out that he lied 51 times... does that mean the earth is flat?

‘Individual 1’: Trump emerges as a central subject of Mueller probe

In two major developments this week, President Trump has been labeled in the parlance of criminal investigations as a major subject of interest, complete with an opaque legal code name: “Individual 1.”

New evidence from two separate fronts of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation casts fresh doubts on Trump’s version of key events involving Russia, signaling potential political and legal peril for the president. Investigators have now publicly cast Trump as a central figure of their probe into whether Trump’s campaign conspired with the Russian government during the 2016 campaign.

My own personal guess is this: Trump himself had very little to do with Trump Tower Moscow and bribing Putin with a free apartment. What’s more, he was smart enough never to do anything illegal. His idiot son Don Jr., however, is a different story. Legal stuff becomes illegal when Junior lies about it to, say, Congress or the FBI, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Don Jr. did. This accounts for a big part of why Trump is so frantic about this whole thing. Aside from the obvious political poison of it for the President, he’s afraid — or perhaps even knows — that Mueller has the goods on Don Jr.

I don't know SECOND. I think Trump is responsible for what his representatives are doing on his behalf. That said, there is the phone call from the blocked number to Trump Jr. The one after the Trump Tower meeting with the Russians. The dems are now going to subpoena his phone records. The list of Trumps indiscretions that may get him indicted is endless. Think obstruction of justice.

Trumps business dealings are now front and center because of what they mean to the Russian investigation. Mueller has to know what Trumps financial ties to Russia are. It's a national security issue.

As I've said, Trump may run into all kinds of indictments filed in state courts awaiting him when he does leave the White House. Pardons from the next president won't help him there.

Why SECOND at this point, after all the bullshit Trump has thrown at the justice department, would they let him slide on anything?

I don't want the Trump Presidency to end too soon. If the Trump voters had high expectations for a Trump presidency, then they need to get the full 4 to 8 years of his poisonous personality and his incompetence. Maybe he will make them puke their guts out and die. I'm pretty sure America can survive years more of Trump, but I'm not so sure that his party can. Maybe he will kill the GOP. That's fine with me.

Or maybe the GOP will kill Trump. In mid-July of 1974, President Richard Nixon could still count on virtually every conservative Republican in Congress to oppose his impeachment and removal, even if they weren’t exactly thrilled with him. By early August, he had only a handful of supporters remaining. That’s not to say that Trump’s support will necessarily evaporate — just that if it does, it could happen extremely quickly, perhaps in days. And nice, reliable, normal Mike Pence will be sitting right there.
