A gentleman wanting the bus helped me with my cane to get back to my feet. I just stood for a minute till I could walk to my chiropactor's office. Good thing I had an appointment with him today. I am and was fine the rest of the day and no damage done than what I had done over last weekend to myself.

Now it is the eastern part of Canada taking the hits. BC should be starting to warm up now that this hopefully latest storm has moved on through. Expecting rain over the next few days, so snow will start to melt but that will make a huge, yucky mess for walking and driving.

Quote:Originally posted by SIGNYM: Hey KIKI, I have a quick medical question about this flu since we both seen to have it.. As usual, my trachae and bronchi fare the worst ... I wheeze and crackle and pop and whistle in several different place when I breathe. The thing that concerns me is that today, when I was supposedly getting better, I couldn't manage a 3/4 mile stroll without getting woozy and feverish, but had to go back to bed and sleep for another 2 hours! We've been managing with various OTC meds- for me decongestant nose spray and saline rinses (because amazingly-colored stuff in there) and lots and lots of cough syrup, every four hours like the bottle says. Hoping to break this cough up faster but the wheezing and goop is coming from a lot deeper than I'm used to, and sometimes bright green. So, here's the question: At what point do I draw the line and see a doctor? Worried that I might "manage" myself into pneumonia. What should I be on the lookout for? ----------- Pity would be no more, If we did not MAKE men poor - William Blake Happy New Year, WISHY. I edited out your psychopathic screed!

Streets are probably fine by now, but otherwise it's an ice rink out there. EDIT: F'in hell, it's cold now. 5 degrees with a real feel of -14. If I'm going to finish painting those bedroom doors in the basement today I might have to take the thermometer down there and see if it's even warm enough to do that. Do Right, Be Right. :)

I'm out of food unless I want just brown rice and a burger patty tomorrow night, so it's off to the grocery store tomorrow. It's cool though. I felt like I had a moldy stick in my trachea I couldn't breathe past. Something was so swollen and the mucus was so sticky I started panicking about being able to breathe. So at 2AM I was digging around in the frig for my rescue inhaler (just in case! Altho an asthma attack wasn't exactly what it felt like; if I had had an aerosol steroid inhaler maybe that would have been more on target) and spent the next hour and some inhaling steam. The warm moist air seemed to sooth the inflammation, and eventually (some of) the goo liquefied enough to be able to be coughed up, and I just got too sleepy to give a damn, but that was scary. Haven't felt that bad that since the last time I had a serious virus, about four years ago, right b4 I was due for surgery (Needless to say, "they" decided I was way too sick for anesthesia.) Fortunately, I have two doctors' appointments coming up this week, both to address the generalized inflammation that has been dogging me in one way or another for a long time. All I have to do is hang on until Wednesday. I hope I get to the bottom of all this. I can deal with the other crap, but I need a ready response for flu, since the NEXT time the flu comes around it will be another Big Deal for me. ----------- Pity would be no more, If we did not MAKE men poor - William Blake Happy New Year, WISHY. Figures that the year that I'm not driving 35 miles round trip to work is the year where we barely get any. I'm probably jinxing myself, but we've probably only had about 5% of the snow we had last year, and the majority of that was on Halloween. Do Right, Be Right. :)

Quote:Originally posted by SIGNYM: My nightmare was telling me about not being able to breathe, an immediate problem. All of that effort moving air in and out, past the swelling and past the goo, and all of that noisy wheezing, popping, and gurgling was intruding into my dreams. But all of that woke me up and forced me to take action. BTW, I did eventually use my rescue inhaler. I think I just kind of slid from a flu reaction to an asthma attack without noticing. ***** OMG those dreams about your teeth, they're truly the stuff of nightmares! Obviously they reflect your deep concerns about your teeth, but quite often recurring dreams tap into deeper concerns and constructs as well. So, ASIDE from your teeth, which you consider foundational to yourself (your survival as "you", the person you see yourself as ....) is there anything else that you feel is essential for survival that you may not be attending to? Dreams .... funny things! Mostly, they're pretty random and so I'm not much into dream interpretation ... when I remember them I can uusually track back to some weird thing that caught my attention that day, on TV or whatever. But there ARE some that do repeat, and they mean something, if you can figure out what. Let me give you some examples of my archetypal dreams ... I have four dreams that repeat, in various guises, over the years. One is the "flying" dream, where I escape by levitating. One is a "swimming" dream, where I sink into water. One is a "skiiing" dream, involving ... skiing! And one is where I have to inspect some portion of our house (attic, crawlspace) and find it totally deficient - flimsy, shoddy costruction, termite-eaten, or whatever. They're all more-or-less related to a basic emotional reponse. The "attic" dream is my worry about not being able to provide a home ... a REAL home, not just a place to purchase a live, but a place to stay ... for the family. But the "skiiing" dream is a little more interesting because it involved a specific event a number of years ago, when I was just learning to ski. (Still a beginning skier, btw!). Despite having climbed many tall stacks, I do have an inherent fear of falling, and it's triggered (among other things) by facing a steep slope with no protective barrier. Yanno ... like a ski slope. When I was learning to ski, I wasn't doing well because I kept wanting to lean back ... but do that, and you lose control of your skis. In a flash, it came to me that I could only ski if I ignored my instinctive reponse and actually leaned INTO my skis. It became an emotional paradigm: lean in to, and control your fears. ***** So, these tooth dreams ... that they keep recurring means that they probably won't go away, even when your mouth is entirely taken care of. Not knowing your history, I might say that it might have something to do with a deep-seated concern about your ability to fundamentally take care of yourself, perhaps into old age? But as I discovered, these are all tied to specific events and personal moments, things only the individual would know about, so only you would be able to understand the deeper meaning (if any) behind these recurring dreams/nightmares. ----------- Pity would be no more, If we did not MAKE men poor - William Blake Happy New Year, WISHY. I edited out your psychopathic screed!
