Hearing aides adjusted and hearing tested. The left one is still going but the right is holding its own. Just a little bit more dip in my right hearing. Though the lady said that wax build up in the right might be the cause of some of that.

The buffet at the Hard Rock casino is awesome.

My buddy said he gets them all the time and we'll be going again.

Ach, I need hearing aids.
My hearing was going before dx, but since chemo it's gotten worse.
I've lost a lot of the higher frequencies, so I miss a lot of the "frictives" - f, s, k, p, b, t... it frustrates us all.

Hubby has a hearing aid for one ear bc he's almost deaf there, bc of Meniere's. But it seems HIS hearing is getting worse, too! We have to practically shout at him and speak slowly and distinctly. Yanno, like ppl have to do with me.

But here in the States they're SO expensive.
$2000+!

The lady that did my testing yesterday said it is normal to loose hearing for higher frequencies as we get older.

I noticed my hearing going a year or so after I turned 50 as I was playing mah jong and not hearing a lot of what the other people around me were saying. That's why I went to get my hearing checked and that hearing company discovered my hearing was going in my left ear.

My mum had a hearing aide for one ear but she would never use it, so I was always shouting at her too. Very annoying and tiring.

Gotta say that waking up from surgery was difficult. They got that anesthesia thing down to a science! I can understand why ppl get addicted to painkillers.

Russia artillery damages another hospital, mosque sheltering children, Ukraine says; US expects 'ugly next few weeks': Live updates

Devastating economic sanctions from the U.S. and its allies haven't stopped Russia's assault on Ukraine, which resulted in damage to another hospital — this time a cancer hospital in the southern city of Mykolaiv, according to Ukrainian officials.

The $578 million megayacht owned by Russian oligarch Andrey Melnichenko was seized by Italy

A statement from Italy's finance police said the yacht, known as SY A or Sailing Yacht A, was worth around 530 million euros, or $578 million, according to CNN. It also said the yacht was currently in storage in Trieste, Italy. Maritime tracking data viewed by Insider confirmed the location of the yacht in the Adriatic Sea.

Melnichenko is one of the billionaire oligarchs sanctioned by the European Union in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Melnichenko, who is worth $11 billion according to Forbes, owns majority stakes in a fertilizer company and a coal company.

At least 14 private jets from Russia have landed in Israel in the past 10 days amid the latest round of sanctions targeting oligarchs

The report cited a broadcast by Israel's Channel 12, which said that a number of rented private planes were coming from Russia and were landing in Israel. The owners were unidentified and this has led to speculation that oligarchs may be looking at ways to slip around sanctions.

Putin hides family in ‘secret Siberian underground bunker’

A Russian professor has claimed Vladimir Putin has hidden his family members in an “underground city” to protect them from the unfolding conflict.

The luxury hi-tech bunker is located in the Altai Mountains and was designed for protection in the event of nuclear war, said political scientist Valery Solovey, 61.

The claim comes as Russia is pounding Kyiv and Kharkiv with deadly rockets leading to accusations that Putin is committing war crimes in striking innocent civilians with “vacuum bombs”.

Alas, my surgeon is leaving my medical care facility and my oncologist will be out on maternity leave. But I did get the chance to see them one more time b4 they leave, they both gave me the good news from the pathology report: no detectable cancer. Not entirely in the clear: As with all cancers there is a 10% chance of recurrence, but the odds are very much in my favor, so I'm going with the "denial" strategy: Of course, I will continue treatment (radiation, monoclonal antibodies) and monitoring, and continuing to try and eat healthful food and live a healthful lifestyle, but beyond that I'm not going to think about it. I'm going to live my life and focus on getting my energy back and getting back to doing what I do.

So right now, I need to recharge. Still need an afternoon nap, but will try and regularize my schedule and accomplish more in my "awake" time and just... live my life.

Also, gonna need to dial back on posting here, so for the time being will restrict myself to posting in this thread and posting info into other threads, bc arguing with idiots takes up way too much of what time and energy I have.

So, for today, I'm going to start irrigating the property bc we're due for a big warm-up in a week.

I haven't done that much since the pantry was finished. I've started working on prepping the windows in the living room so I can get proper window casings up, but haven't followed through with it. I've had some outside things that I've been attending to, and probably haven't made the most of my free time. That will change when the weather changes.

I also tweaked my back a little the other day. Nothing too serious. I managed to keep it from popping on me and have been taking it easy on the heating pad. It will be the difference between loosing a few days and loosing a few weeks.

12 degrees last night... But today could possibly be the last cold one we see this year. Our 10 day outlook got a whole lot warmer a few days ago and looks like it's holding. I'm seeing a lot of 50 degree days and even a few 60 degree days in there.

Forgot to mention SIG that I've started watching Shetland. I had some of the first episode figured out, now just have to see about the rest.

I had to look up where the Shetlands are and it explains a lot about that first episode. Course we all know from history that the Vikings raided up and down the coast of Scotland and into England and Wales.

The show kinda of gives me the feeling of what it must be like living in Newfoundland. There are ferries that go between PEI and Nova Scotia along with New Brunswick. Very cold in winter and stormy.

Oh cool! I hope you like it.

I would NOT recommend all six seasons, tho! After they ran out of the original stories the characters start to drift. DI Perez frays, and instead of staying calm and perceptive (which is what I appreciated) he starts to browbeat and scold his suspects and his judgment clouds. Only two characters stay true to themselves.

The landscape was amazing.

Was going to take a nap, but it was interrupted by a phone call from my ex- manager to tell me one of my colleagues passed away. I always liked the guy, he was a good dad, a devoted husband, and a fucking energizer bunny when it came to doing stuff around the house. He'd come in on the first workday (we worked a 4-10, three day weekends) and say "I put up 20' of fencing this past weekend!" or "I replaced half the windows in the house" or "My wife wanted to redecorate so I spent all weekend moving furniture ".

I can't tell you the #of times they moved, each time to a more and more rural location, but he made it so seamless. I envied his energy and good humor!

Sorry to hear about your friend.
Yeah, me too. He was always such a kick to be around. I've never been around anyone so energetic in my whole life.

He came from an interesting family. His one brother was a pediatric neurologist who worked for a while at Johns Hopkins. His other brother was a car mechanic. He was somewhere in the middle, as a chemist.

He and his wife did successfully raise three kids. One is a doctor, and the daughter is a dental technician, altho I've since forgotten what the third child did. He and his wife were very practical people who took their parenting jobs seriously. I remember talking with him about their decision to get the kids involved in sports bc it would put them in contact with kids who weren't gang wannabes, and mom was a stay-at-home who was a booster for all of their teams. That could be why they moved so far away from LA. He never looked back, never held any grudges, just kept moving forward cheerfully. The world is a poorer place without him, and I'm sure his family will miss him terribly.
