Not going to lay around on the heat all day like I thought I would though. They say online that you shouldn't do that. I just won't do anything physically stressful on it and try to do some stretching throughout the day. I'm trying to get it back to normal by Monday morning so I can beat it up another three days before Thanksgiving weekend. Got some rebates to mail out and another package I need to send. Good a time as any to get that all put together. Maybe my neighbor will have picked up that pole jack today so I can get that corner of his garage propped up for him. Do Right, Be Right. :)

Quote:Originally posted by 1KIKI: Me, I've just been plugged away on day-to-day stuff. Wednesday I did some general household cleanup and made a VERY large batch of individual meatloaves. And I have to say, cooking 12 of something takes about 12X the hands-on time as cooking 1 of something. It literally took a few hours. Yesterday I went to the bank and went to a whole bunch of stores for groceries and this and that - and as usual, some things are always unavailable somewhere, so I end up having to go to more stores, usually a succession of stores. (If it's not here it might be there, if it's not there it might be ...) It also took hours! And I spent up all the money, so tomorrow I have to go to the bank and finish my shopping. But between yesterday (Thursday) and tomorrow, it'll be a good stocking-up with regular stuff, and I won't have to haul so much stuff around for a while. I also want to see if I can get a turkey. That's COMPLETELY unnecessary, but they're really not available at any other time. One good thing. The store where I used to buy excellent ground pork had a change of supplier and didn't have it for close to a year. I couldn't find any as tasty, so I ended up getting boneless pork shoulder, and trimming it, cubing it, and cooking it, for the pork I needed for my recipes - and THAT was a LOT of work! And time! But the supplier seems to have found a way to getting that ground pork, and now that I can get it again, I won't have to go through all the hassle. Today was a much slower day. I woke up with a stiff back. Maybe it was all the heavy bags I was toting around yesterday. Anyway, I did computer-work today. But I'm going to finish up a household task that's been accumulating before I go to bed.

ETA It's a hybrid set of a CA state OR county (? reported both ways) curfew plus recent additional and potential new LACounty restrictions, but DAMN! references are few and far between! https://www.mercurynews.com/2020/11/22/surge-continues-la-county-posts-4522-new-coronavirus-cases-as-state-curfew-arrives/ Meanwhile, California was poised to enact a nighttime curfew Saturday night as spiking coronavirus cases threaten to swamp health care systems. Statewide, the newest restrictions require people not on essential errands to stay home from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Dec. 21, with a possible extension if rapidly worsening trends don’t improve. People are allowed to shop for groceries, pick up food and even walk their dogs. Officials had said that if the county averages more than 4,000 newly reported cases a day for a five-day period — or 1,750 hospitalizations — it would end in-person dining entirely; restaurants would only be able to offer food for takeout and delivery. If cases or hospitalizations reach 4,500 or 2,000, respectively, the county will go on lockdown and impose a stay-at-home order for three weeks. https://www.foxla.com/news/covid-19-curfew-goes-into-effect-for-los-angeles-county-at-10-p-m COVID-19 curfew officially goes into effect for Los Angeles County Los Angeles County is officially under a curfew order starting at 10 p.m., Friday, November 20. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/new-restrictions-take-effect-across-los-angeles-county-friday-amid-surge-in-covid-19-cases/ar-BB1bdrTs A set of new restrictions prompted by a surge in COVID-19 cases took effect in Los Angeles County Friday, mostly affecting businesses like restaurants. Under the updated health order announced earlier this week, eateries, breweries and wineries will be limited to a maximum of 50% outdoor capacity. Those businesses, as well as other non-essential establishments must be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Businesses can still offer pick-up and delivery services outside of these hours. Other non-essential businesses that are allowed to have people indoors, such as retailers, offices and personal care services, will be required to limit their capacity to just 25%.

Had to go to my family doctor today to get the results on the double check of my liver and seizure meds. My liver function is good still but she didn't have the results of my seizure meds. That gets done at another lab. She'll call me when she gets them but I think those numbers should be good too. Though I did miss the rain.
Quote:Originally posted by 6IXSTRINGJACK: Mega tweak on the back again today. Two days R&R apparently wasn't enough. Wasn't even doing any seriously heavy lifting, but just one wrong twist of the back was all it takes. It's funny how much you take your back for granted until it goes on strike. Poor little guy just wants to be noticed. May have to bail on the work I had for the next two days. Huge shame if that's the case since if I were going to be sitting around doing nothing this week I could have been doing it with my old man and brother. Really going to try to tough it out for another two days. Do Right, Be Right. :)

Though I did miss the rain. Good thing you misssed the rain! I had a doctor's appt too, but for something stupid: I had a very black spot on the ball of my foot that just wouldn't go away for months. At first I thought it was something tarry stuck, then I thought maybe something had gotten jammed into my skin, and then I thought maybe it was a blood blister, but it didn't scrub out or grow out, so it was either a plantar wart with dirt ground into it or something worse. Turns out it was a plantar wart, and Dr gave it the ol' freeze-spray treatment. ----------- Pity would be no more, If we did not MAKE men poor - William Blake #WEARAMASK

Quote:Originally posted by SIGNYM: Today was a nice day because aside from the Dr appt I got to go out and do the kind of yardwork I like best, which is pruning. Along our back wall we have some Canary Island pines and camellias and on the other side of the wall our backdoor neighbors have an apple tree (not very tasty), a non-producing "volunteer" fig, a juniper (which is so overgrown I think it's totally dead) a tree-sized privet, a grapefruit tree and a lemon tree (I think), and a metric crap-ton asparagus fern(? whatever it is, it's very lacy and VERY thorny and VERY invasive!). Apparently the lady of the house doesn't stay there very often, or she would have noticed that the gardeners take care of the back lawn but completely neglect the trees and shrubs around the perimeter, and it got pretty jungly at that part of the back wall. So dear daugther and I did some lopping and pruning yesterday, doing our best to tear out as much of that fern (?) as possible, plus pull out a lot of dead crap, and today I did a lot more pruning with the clippers and hubby brought out the reciprocating saw and cut down one big apple branch and two big privet branches which were completely shading our shrubs and trees. Because of all the crap back there it blocked the breezes and everything back there was moldy. I would prune her trees for free; it pains me to see them so terribly neglected. ----------- Pity would be no more, If we did not MAKE men poor - William Blake #WEARAMASK
