Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

I have one quick comment off the top of my head - before I think about I too deeply - "1. I need to shorten the float and get the pump lower into the well so it goes off earlier and stays on until the level gets lower before shutting off without going too low as to make the pump suck in air." Is your pump submerged or above the well? Submerged pumps might rely on water for cooling, so if submerged, you probably shouldn't allow the water level to expose it.

I had problems with one of the installs in the last 6 months that took a few tries to get right. I can't remember what I did other than just trying to let it do its thing when I was going to work so I wouldn't miss having the computer and it finally went through. Maybe we could figure it out. I made one mistake on its first try, as I turned my computer back on and that screwed it up. Then Saturday or Friday night, I let it go but it still didn't complete it. So, when it comes up again I will let it go.

I know I had problems a few times with it with one of the recent installs, but I don't think I actually had to do anything but let it try a few times and it worked itself out. Windows 10 is pretty amazing compared to all of the versions before it. I miss a lot of features that I used to use a lot back with Windows XP that they've never gone back to, but as far as security and stability go I'm very impressed with it. Do Right, Be Right. :)

Fortunately hubby knows a thing or three about PC security and he has our main PC buttoened up pretty tight. Plus we have Noscript, PrivacyBadger and other apps running. I've set Googletagmanager and Googleanalytics and Facebook and a few other scripts to permanently UNTRUSTED. On my smart phone all of my family's phone numbers are under aliases. I never text anyone using their real name in the text because ... what happens if my phone gets lost? Of course I never do online banking or email or purchases or homesecurity over such a loosey=goosey platform. It astonishes me when I see ppl checking their home security cameras over their phone, or swipe to purchase. Same thing with the tablet. Nothing important happens there. I read the news, chat with you guys, play music or listen to The Duran or Tom Luongo or whatever podcasts are interesting but that's it. Every now and again I go to my security settings and reset all of the "allowed" apps and sites just incase I let something reside as "trusted". Anyway, speaking of important things, been busting ass trying to get ready for out of town vistors. The rest of the family has been sick but I've been plowing thru various rooms. Hubby has a crap-ton of PC parts most of which I can't imagine would ever be useful; I hope he picks thru them and sets aside parts for the next build plus some spare parts and junks the rest - all I could do was take them off the diningroom table (where they have been for a year) and box them up and dust. If he manages to go thru those boxes I see a lot of outgoing items. Also been sorring thru dear daughter's possessions ... it's a problem because she has a hoarding tendency and has a real emotional attachment to every single item. sigh. But this is also open enrollment, and so I have to get going on health insurance things. birthday parties happened this month, and dd's favorite holdiy (Halloween) coming up, I have a lot to do! ----------- Pity would be no more, If we did not MAKE men poor - William Blake You idiots have been oppressing the entire sexual spectrum as long as you have existed. As has been demonstrated by Flynn and Trump, they'll just make up shit if they want. But I'm a boring person anyway, so I don't worry too much about that.

If not, you might want to google it. Hope your guy or gal is a good one, Brenda. Do Right, Be Right. :)

I feel I can't entirely relax - that I have to keep one eye open and one ear cocked all the time. With any luck the winds'll be gone by the end of tomorrow. I'm finishing preparing my beef, potato and green chili stew. After that I'll be cooking chicken pot pie, but without the crust, since wheat really bothers me. So instead, I'll also add potatoes! I think it'll be really tasty. Once that's done, I'll be back to being stocked up with a good supply of meals with big helpings of vegetables.

Today we had a long-delayed chicken and dumplings. tomorrow its going to be turkey half-breast with asparagus (on sale) and yam (on sale). ***** I broke down and set up a humidifier in our room bc my nose is infernally stuffed with thsi dry air! Wunderground says Thu Fri and Sat still drier than normal, but Sat will be halfway back to normal so I hope my nose starts unstuffing soon. ----------- Pity would be no more, If we did not MAKE men poor - William Blake You idiots have been oppressing the entire sexual spectrum as long as you have existed. For a change I managed to sleep for 5 hours straight without waking up bc I couldn't breathe. You have to realize that I decongest my nose and rinse it with specially-compounded solution of mupirocin antibiotic plus budenoside steroid before bed, PLUS I use a nose strip, AND I use a HEPA filter in the bedroom AND we changed out carpets for hardwood AND I'm giving myself allergy shots, AND I had two sinus surgeries! I'm doing everything I know to reduce my nasal congestion because it has been ruining my sleep for years. I STILL can't smell much of anything. Maybe the humidifier for Santa Ana conditions is the very last thing I need to finally get a reasonable night's sleep. ----------- Pity would be no more, If we did not MAKE men poor - William Blake You idiots have been oppressing the entire sexual spectrum as long as you have existed. Quote:Originally posted by 6IXSTRINGJACK: Glad to see you found something that might work. I don't know how you live with it. Jeez... it's COLD today. Only a high of 34 here, and the snow was already started when I woke up. Certainly didn't see that in the forecast leading up to today. Unfortunately, my friend hasn't made it back here this week to install the door, and I was waiting on him to help me get the plastic over the louvers as well. Didn't think that would be a problem, but we've had 2 days of rain and now snow. I've been through quite a few heavy rains and thunderstorms with zero windows behind those louvers, but just as I suspected, snow has been where the damage was done on the front side of that porch. The wall is wet now. Not drenched, but it's taking on water. I put a little plastic solution from the inside at the bottom that negates most of that as a temporary measure, but it's not waterproof. There's no way I'm going to be able to make it waterproof until I do a solution from the outside, and there's no way I'm doing it in the snow and wind and 30 degree temps. Not a good day here. :( Do Right, Be Right. :)

But jeeze louise, no wonder you're so done with that house!
