I think they must be. He's really starting to annoy me now. Monday lunch at times was just ugh! with him.

He can't let go that as 5year old child I could use nice big words and knew the meaning of them. I was also using them correctly. His own children couldn't do that.

The first time they took me canoeing on a local lake I got the hang of it right away. That got him bent out of shape. Said, "I must be recalling a "race memory". Had to remind him that my ancestors were a plains people so that means no canoes. I said, "It was probably a family memory." meaning my French Canadian great grandfather probably learned how to use a canoe. He was a trapper.

Going back to lunch on Monday he asked if I had ever been over to a friend of my brother's who lives just a few blocks from them. I said yes a couple of times. He was hinting I think that I should go over there. They don't invite me over there. As they know have 2 grandchildren and another single daughter who probably has a boyfriend. So full house.

Last Christmas my boss set a mini-harp down in front of me to play. I said I haven't touched one of these in 10years. She said play anyway. So I did, I read music. The thing wasn't in tune and I told her, so she proceeded to tune another one and I moved over to it when she was finished. This time I played it perfectly. Comment from her, "Well, at least we know it's not your playing."

Wow, they are sure rude!

At first I was thinking that maybe he's getting old and his frontal lobes are starting to go, along with any remaining social ability he might have had. But it sounds like they're both incredibly awful people.

Do they do that to everybody that you've noticed?

Everyone else seems to be fine with them as long as you are a Christian with a capital C.

I have not and will never call myself a "Christian", capital C or little c. I don't hold to any religion and I think this really irritates them. Every so often I get the feeling they are trying to convert me and I just ain't having any of it.

Indeed! I was considering callig her local PD and having them do a welfare check!

On a lighter note, it seems every time I try to make the simplest thing - hamburgers- for the family, daughter says "I like it" but hubby says "too lean, no flavor". Or hubby says "Nicely seasoned" and daughter says "Too spicy".

Well, I think I found the magic trick. Our store has a meat department that will actually do things for you, so when I saw chuck roast on sale I selected three pieces and had them twice-grind it. And although I thought it would be too fatty for dd, she liked it and so did hubby. (Of course, I seasoned theirs differently. Hers had panko and pepper and blue cheese dressing, and his had panko and garlic powder, smoked paprika, chipotle and green enchilada sauce.) Was very happy that everyone was finally happy with that dinner!

Got a hold of a friend of my brother's the other day to ask about help for getting a couch or something. We talked for a minute then mentioned my birthday and how he had called but I wasn't in. He could have left a message and I would have gotten back to him. But the flip side of this is why would I want to stay in and stare at four walls all day with no one to talk to.

Also me basically made the same comment as his wife did when I ran into her and talked about getting a couch. Why do I need something to hold 2 people when there is only me?

So nice to feel the care and concern of people.

Saw my brother and spent a few nights down there with the old man for the first time this year. That was cool.

Today it rained all day long, but with my help and a stern hand I was able to get my friend to clear out nearly 2/3rds of his 3 car garage that you couldn't even park a car in before today. I told him that everything metal we put out (including a few appliances) would be gone before we left for the day and less than an hour later somebody had come and picked it all up off the curb.

He, of course, didn't want to let go of anything. Everything has a use and is a future project. I had to keep reminding him that people will never stop throwing out junk that you can fix one day, but right now you have a million things to fix on the house and plenty to keep your limited free time full of useful projects that need to be done.

My dream job would be one of those dudes running the show on Hoarders. I'd be quite good at it.

I didn't bother with the company argument because that would fall on deaf ears. I did mention about stretching out and crashing on to which he mentioned well you just need a chair. I said, "Like a recliner. Those are heavy as well." He was moaning about how heavy a small couch could be.

No, he doesn't. I'm disinclined to contact them again until closer to Christmas or they will contact me about that.

Well, it looks like I will be getting a recliner from my brother's friend. It is from IKEA, so easy to move around. I got his email with a picture of it and it will do. I can at least stretch out somewhat on it. It comes with a foot stool. Beggar's can't be choosers as I am getting it for nothing and it will be the only help I can get. It's a light colour and I can throw a blanket over it and a pillow on it to make it more comfortable.

He'll call me back on Thursday for a time to drop it off on Friday. I'll meet him downstairs, he'll bring it in and put it in the elevator for me then I can do the rest.

At least it is something.

I've heard of woolly caterpillars.

Let me google it and see what comes up ... apparently it means the same thing as woolly caterpillars. Lore says that they somehow predict the weather.

Thanks for the info Kiki. I was listening to a video on YouTube and one of the guys is from Louisville and he was talking about it. That's what the guy from Kentucky said about people using it to predict the weather. He found one in his garage and took a look at it before taking it outside to let it loose. Said they are going to have a bad beginning to winter down there then it will get mild then a rough ending.

Caterpillars I know. But that was a new one me. I've heard that Florida has some strange bugs and that was all I thought this was.

If you want a couch, you deserve a couch.

Hopefully the recliner works good for you for now though. Who knows, you might choose to get a 2nd one for company. My brother got a nice couch unit with two recliners and a center console for company. My old man and I sleep just fine on the recliners. I never thought I would be able to sleep on one, but when it's a good recliner it works for me.

Got a new toy coming...

My air compressor that my step dad got me for Christmas is probably going to have to be trashed. I might keep it one more season to see if I can fix it, but it knocks the breaker out now and just barely gets the job done.

I might have mentioned that I used my old man's cordless compressor to fill my car tires after he brought it down to fill my brother's scooter tires again. I'm so impressed with it, that I decided to get one of my own. No more need to haul out a 70lb compressor and attach the hose and dig out the tire filling tool when I can just snap one of my existing 18v batteries into this 2 lb unit and ensure a perfect psi fill with the digital input.

Who knows... I might even pass up buying a new compressor for now. The only somewhat immediate need I had for one was to continue on with putting up new trim that's still out in my back porch when I move on to the 1st floor remodel, but for around $120 I can buy a cordless brad nailer that uses the same batteries and doesn't require a compressor either.

And if I ever REALLY need a new compressor, the same brand sells a 2 gallon cordless compressor that also uses the same batteries for around $140.

Had to split up the order because the stupid "virtual" card they give you for contact rebates would be denied if I went over the limit, so I managed to sneak a few things in there that were just around 20 cents short of the full amount. But otherwise I got a few bulk buys on other things I need today and some new tubes to put in my snowblower tiers that went flat. I used it last year with one flat tire, but there's no way I'm going to attempt that again after refinishing the driveway and putting gouges on the new finish. As much as I'd love to buy brand new tires and just pop them on, I'm not paying $260 for new tires when I can get a 4 pack of tubes for under $25. Watched a YT video on how to do it. Shouldn't be TOO much of a pain in the ass. :)

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Oh yeah...

I just had the cheapest energy bill I've had in about 3 years by around $20.

It occurred to me that last month was the first month that I didn't use the A/C or heat since I fixed my refrigerator and put it down to a reasonable temperature as well as making a conscious effort to make my computer hibernate when not in use (both happened around spring sometime, if memory serves). Otherwise, I hadn't done anything different.

Looks like my fridge and computer were wasting quite a bit of energy. That $20/mo. I'm saving on energy pays my internet bill.

Because you might want company over??? Or stretch out for a snooze?? What a stupid question!

That sounds like someone who basically doesn't want to help.

That dude's a dick. I'm sorry that you have to put up with somebody that self centered on the reg.

On the bright side, at least you're in much nicer digs than you were with that wretched old bag.

Maybe you could pay somebody in your complex to help you move it?

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Yup, and he seems to have become one in the last few years.

True enough there Jack.

Nah, lots of older people in this building and I don't know how many have cars or trucks that would be able to do the job.

So, I guess next summer I buy myself one of those folding long lawn chairs. I even though about it this year but didn't want to carry it. *shrug*

Don't be a grumpy cat.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

I know I do but without help. I am stuck. So there we are.

Never know maybe I'll be able to get something better at some point next year.

That sounds lovely Jack. But I can't get anything that big into the area a couch or a love seat would go.

Well, I had a choice on calendars. Grumpy Cat or Baby Yoda. So, I got Grumpy Cat first then I will pick up a Baby Yoda one.

I don't know if my boss and her husband are going to vote tomorrow or not. They seem to have misplaced their voter registration cards. Had to describe the dang thing to her. Yeesh, and if I wasn't going to vote they would have been on my case about it.

On the flip side the snow that was heading in my direction missed me last night and today. A couple of ski hills are happy though. Drivers aren't though. Think the news said there were 3 crashes on a bad stretch of highway that goes up to the Interior.

Winter is coming.

I must have missed the post about the recliner. I hope you're getting as comfortable a one as I have. Mine has served me so well, I haven't used the couch ever since getting the recliner.

May you enjoy many a comfortable evening on yours.

No, I think you saw it. We shall see. I do like IKEA stuff as it is good quality. It is coming tomorrow.

Truly Brenda, I didn't see your post until I read references to it later. And then I had to scroll back to the original conversation to find what I'd missed.

I'm not here (on FFFans) every day, and when I am on, I'll often hit just 3 - 5 threads before getting on with my day. I DO try and scroll back to catch up when I post ... this must have been one of those times I just didn't go back far enough.

But I'm glad you're getting something which I hope will be better than what you have now! I have to say, my recliner has done very well by me, and I hope yours is even half as good for you.

It's okay Kiki. Don't worry about it. I thought you had. It's no big deal.

I'm not here all the time either. So I just wander around and post here and maybe in Chat and that is about all now.

I think it will. Just got to move the chair I am currently sitting on to watch tv tonight before I go to bed and move something else out of the way. Then I can get it in.

Well, been kicking myself a bit for being behind on the planting schedule.... AGAIN. All I can say is this is my first time trying to grow veggies in winter and I have no experience with that. And I ran into a few delays... spent some time at hospital for what I hope will turn out to be "nothing" (I'll explain later when I know more), birthdays, etc etc.

Plus, those ridiculous hot spells that put the kibosh on a lot of outdoor work. NEXT year, I hope I will be better!

I have approximately 1/3 of the front yard slated for renovation and it's been almost dug up/Bermuda grass removed (AGAIN) in prep for leveling and planting, and both last summer's "veggie garden" and last summer's "flower garden" dug up in prep for when the seeds come in. The house is a mess, but the (legal) ball is on our lawyer's court, so I have only one big outstanding "to do" on my list (get the van AC fixed), and when the plants/seeds are in I can turn my attention to once again fixing up the house.

Hey... at least you've got weather warm enough to do stuff outside year round. Those days are just about over for us...

9 hours helping my friend out today, with a high of 44 degrees. Going back tomorrow for more.

Still got more to do outside on my house too, but he can only work weekends, so it will have to wait. At least there will be a few more days in the 50s before it's winter time.

His tenants suck so much. They're some of the filthiest people I've ever known. My buddy has been losing patience with them and you can cut the tension with a knife right now. I just find work to do far away from the drama when it boils over.

They still like me though. Filled up my coffee cup all day long. I'm like the "good cop" when I'm there.

I'm so glad that I only have to deal with me when I'm working on my house.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Well, recliner was dropped off by my brother's friend. Opened the door, he brought it in and put it in the elevator and took off.

I got it to my place and in the door. It is a little wider than what it looked like in the picture he emailed me. I managed to get it in and into the space I have for it but really it was a two person job. Had to move a few more things then lift it over my head to get it through a really narrow spot into the living room. Knocked something down, took down a couple of other things off the wall. Once it was pretty well passed the spot, I almost knocked over a glass of water. Luckily I didn't. Had to leave it sit on the floor for a minute while I took my time getting ready to move it again. But it is now in its spot with a blanket over it and the foot stool it comes with as well.

So now I am a little sore.

Yeah. I sat on it to watch the news and a cooking show. It's very comfy. I put a pillow on it as well for my back.
