Don't beat yourself up. The A is right next to the S. I think it was just a typo.

Got some good sleep yesterday, so last night was another cake walk. I was able to order my tires today before I went home and they were even a few bucks cheaper than i was quoted over the phone. Under $260. :)

They're going to call me in to schedule an appointment. Probably as early as Tuesday. Going to make sure the glass place is ready for me that day too since they're right down the street. $400 bucks plus the $40 I put into parts for the fix I did makes me a happy guy. I thought it was going to cost me $1,200-$1,500 to get this car in decent shape again. All I need is new breaks and a burner phone and I'll be ready for anything on the road again. :)




I don't know if I'd say I'm doing great, but at least the trajectory is up for the first time in years. I'll make it someday. One small goal at a time. :)

My grandma was basically kicked out of the family and written out of the will when she married my grandpa. All the family riches evaded her side of the family after that. They didn't much appreciate the rich Irish girl marrying the poor Polock, and even as decades went by she was never forgiven for it. I never once heard her bitch about it either.

I'm not really sure what was worse for them, the difference in class or the ethnicity.

It's kind of strange just being a "White" European mutt, knowing that previous generations of my own family didn't care much for each other based off of where they came from.

I found the spare to the garage! I went through the misc stuff I had bought and it turns out I have two trickle style battery chargers I had picked up that are unopened. Good for cars and even better for boats. He mentioned he was going fishing and camping with his wife and kids next week. Not sure if he has a boat, but maybe he could get some use out of it or knows somebody who could. :)


I think that stuff like this might happen more often than you'd think when you actually leave the house.

Not going to take it for granted though.

I was being a bit sarcastic JSF's way there. Without saying it, he's throwing a bit of climate change denial in our non-politicized thread we got here. It's an issue I don't care to debate much since none of us have any true facts.

There were wild fires before, but none of them for the most part got out of control like what we see in California these days. Climate change being a factor or not at all, it is still a man made problem.

Decades ago, tax dollars went toward "beautification" projects where we were paying people to "clean up" the forests of all leaves and other debris. Unfortunately, we're the only animals that do such a thing, and the trees knew what they were doing, evolutionarily speaking. We screwed up the entire habitat when we did that, and now when there is a fire all of that "debris" that held in a ton of moisture is gone and there's literally nothing to stop the fires from spreading.

Fires almost never got out of control like what we see today because the land used to be so wet that they'd just die out on their own.




I actually wonder if this could have also contributed to the constant drought conditions in California as well. One would assume that when it used to rain in California that these natural lands would hold in a lot of the moisture for long periods of time that now would evaporate overnight.

I seem to remember those projects too and getting rid of underbrush and such.

You're probably right about it being too "progressive". Either that or somebody somewhere will have a problem with it. Hell, for all I know our government moves so slow on things that California might still be doing it to this day even though we know now that we shouldn't be doing it because "think of all the jobs that will be lost" if we put those good people cleaning up the forests out of work by eliminating their jobs.

It's a shame that something like that has the potential to be politicised like everything else seems to be these days. There's irrefutable proof that these projects are the main contributing factor to the forest fires raging out of control these days.

I'd never actually heard anybody link it to the droughts before though. Honestly, I just thought of that while I was posting the last reply and edited it to add that last paragraph about it.


I could actually see how that would be ignored, even if somebody knows for a fact it was true. It screws up the climate change narrative for sure. Right now Democrats in California can scream about climate change every time a fire rages out of control or there is a drought. They couldn't do that so easily if it were recognized that those projects had a lot to do with both.

I'm not arguing against the idea of climate change, mind, but I'm just playing devil's advocate here.

I explained how I get first pick of clearance items before the store opens and I buy a whole bunch of this stuff that's unopened and I happened to have two of these, and since he said he was going on a fishing trip with the fam I thought he might have a boat. He asked me exactly what it was and I told him it was a trickle charger for car and boat batteries. He's like "yeah, I could use that... you mind?". lol

Turns out he does quite a lot and hustles for money. He's not looking for any labor currently, but he's going to need a guy or two during the winter for snow plowing. I told him I've got a lot of nights off of work and I could give him my schedule and he could call me on any night I'm not working that it's storming. Not sure what he pays since it's going to be his vehicles and plows, but could be some nice side cash to pay those heat bills. He got all of my info and said he'll be in touch.

This guy kind of reminds me of a few good bosses I had in my youth. I'm thinking that the plow work is a test and that this might lead to other stuff down the road if I show myself to be reliable.



Going to put the new break pads on next week sometime and finally get that burner phone. For the first time in at least 3 years it actually felt like driving a real car.
